Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter.
"Harry Potter has given Dobby a present!"
Dobby's tennis ball-sized eyes were wider than ever as he observed the gift-wrapped package before him. The House Elf gaped in wonder as he observed its shiny green paper tied up with bright red ribbon. He averted his amazed gaze to the legendary wizard who had brought it to him.
"Harry Potter did not have to do this for Dobby!"
"Of course I did!" Harry grinned broadly. "It is your birthday, Dobby!"
A small smile found its way onto Dobby's face. He had never received a gift for his birthday before. In all the years he had served the Malfoys under their cruel ownership, they had never given him any presents on his special day.
So he was highly touched to receive this gift - especially when it was from the famous Harry Potter.
"What is it?" The House Elf asked, eying the colourful parcel again. "Dobby wonders."
"Well…" Harry urged. "If you open it, you'll find out!"
Needing no further encouragement, Dobby snapped his fingers. The ribbon magically untied itself from around the paper, which tore itself away from the cardboard box it was covering. The lid flew off the top, allowing Dobby to peer inside - and gasp in amazement upon discovering what his birthday present was.
"HARRY POTTER HAS GIVEN DOBBY - A SOCK!"
With his face as bright as ever, Dobby dove an arm into the box to pull out the filthy disgusting sock that was inside. His large eyes shone elatedly at the sight of it, not the leaves bit fazed that it was so dirty and full of holes.
"You gave Dobby another sock, Sir?"
"Of course!" Harry answered, pleased Dobby loved his present. "It's been a while since I gave you that first sock. I felt it was about time to give you another one so you could finally have a matching pair!"
Dobby beamed happily. He clutched the sock he had just received in one hand - as his other one raised up to reveal the other one. It was the very sock Harry had used to free the House Elf from his miserable life of serving the Malfoys. Since then, Dobby had been a free Elf - thanks to the famous Harry Potter and his socks.
"Dobby thanks you, Sir!" He bowed gratefully before the famous young sorcerer. "Harry Potter truly is the greatest wizard ever to live."
Harry smiled humbly. He knew what it was like to go up in a heartless family who gave him no gifts on his birthday. He didn't want the selfless Elf who had saved his life to go through the same.
"Harry Potter wishes Dobby a happy birthday."
The end.
