Chapter Eight: Going About their Day

When she was sure that her classmates and the Raptor trainer were gone, Lila walked in the same direction as Hoskins. She found him looking at his phone and cleared her throat to get his attention. Vic turned around to find Lila standing there and asked, "Oh, hey. You get lost from your friends or something?"

"I was actually hoping to make a new friend." Lila said with a grin. Then she said, "I totally agreed with you on how having Velociraptors instead of soldiers would be more beneficial."

"Ya, think?" Hoskins asked, glad that someone was on his side about it. Lila nodded, "Yeah. It's too bad Mr. Grady didn't think so."

"Yeah, he's one of those animal guys that don't think about the bigger picture." Vic waved off at the thought. He scratched his chin when he said, "I am thinking about going straight to Masrani and pitching the idea to him."

"Mind if I tag along?" Lila asked, a plan of sorts forming in her mind. Vic quirked a brow when he asked, "Why?"

"Let's just say, I can help you." Lila told him. Her grin widened a little when she said, "And I can be very convincing."

Back at the hotel, Chloe was sitting in a fancy pool chair with her sunglasses over her eyes. With a sigh, she removed them and said, "Whelp, time to go see the park I guess.

"But that was a fun me time." She told herself as she sat up. Chloe stretched when and said, "It was wonderful, utterly wonderful."

Getting out of the seat, Chloe placed the sunglasses on her head before grabbing her purse and her phone. With another sigh she walked to leave.

In another part of the park, a baby Triceratops growled as it stomped around with a little child on its back. The little boy and a few others on the backs of other little dinosaurs laughed as they hung onto the harnesses. A few handlers stood at attention to make sure that everything stayed safe. Others would hold a little dinosaur so the kids could pet it. A baby Apatosaurus felt a little uncomfortable when a little boy hugged it around the neck. Luckily for it, one of the handlers saw and came to the rescue. On the outside of the petting zoo, Gray was jumping up to try and see. He looked to his brother and said, "Come on, lift me up. I can't see anything!"

"I'm to Dad. And you're not five." Zack said as he walked by. Gray continued looking for a spot when he said, "I can still ride the baby Triceratops. I'm only forty-seven and a half inches."

Zara and Adrien's bodyguard weren't too far behind them. Zara looked when her cell phone beeped and the Gorilla lifted a hand as if to say that he would handle it. Zara gave a grateful nod and Adrien's bodyguard looked to Gray. He grabbed the boy before lifting him to where he could see. Gray hurried up and took a few pictures. The Gorilla set him down when Zach shook his head, "This place is for little kids."

"Yeah, I know." Gray nodded as he lowered his camera. Gray smiled when he asked, "Wanna go on the spinning dinosaur eggs?"

"Nope." Zach bluntly put out there. Gray looked to Adrien's bodyguard, but the large man shook his head to decline. Zach looked over to his brother and noticed, "Hey, cover up your dork pouch."

Gray lowered it as he before taking pictures again. Zach looked back to see Zara speaking on the phone. She sounded irritated when she said, "Zeke was supposed to meet with me, Mr. Agreste's bodyguard and our charges about an hour ago and he's still not here.

"I swear, he can be such an animal sometimes." Zara said with a scoff. She sounded offended when she said, "No, I don't see him in a romantic light."

As she remained on the phone, Zara stole a glance at Adrien's bodyguard. Zach happened to notice this and saw that the Gorilla hadn't been looking. A sly plan in his mind, Zach stepped closer and tapped the larger man's shoulder. The Gorilla looked to Zach and the teen said, "Uh, I think Zara's got the hots for you."

"Huh?" A surprised Gorilla went before looking to Zara. She had her back turned as she continued to talk to whoever it was on the phone. Zach then suggested, "Go and talk to her."

Adrien's bodyguard seemed a little nervous, but when Zach gave him an encouraging smile he nodded. Taking a deep breath, the Gorilla strolled over to Zara. As he not only had his back to them, the Gorilla also blocked Zara's view of them. Placing a hand on his brother's shoulder he said, "Scatter."

"Huh, what?" Gray asked and looked to his older sibling. Zach then urged, "Go. Run. Go, go, go!"

The two took off running away from the distracted adults. They passed by a few kids as a little girl with dinosaur food in her hands held it out. A baby Apatosaur came forward before eating out of her hands. All three girls laughed as they said, "Yuck!"

Adrien and his father were walking through Main Street with Claire after being dropped off by Mr. Masrani. As they walked, Adrien looked to his father and asked, "So, since that's over with, what do you want to do?"

"I-" Gabriel started to say when he could feel a lot of negative emotions about. Deciding to get away he started to rub his forehead and said, "I need to clear my head."

"Are you feeling okay, Mr. Agreste?" Claire asked when she and Adrien looked to him with worried looks. Gabriel then said, "Don't be too worried. I'm just feeling a little tired.

"Why don't you go and meet with your friends, Adrien." Gabriel suggested to him. With a sigh he said, "I'm going for a walk."

"Okay, Father." Adrien nodded, something he was kind of used to. As Gabriel started to walk away, Adrien said, "Hope you feel better."

That made Gabriel stop for a moment and he looked back to his son. He gave a single nod before continuing on. When he had disappeared into the crowd, Adrien sighed. Claire looked to him and asked, "I guess he's-"

"Always seemingly not around." Adrien finished and he hung his head. He nodded, "Yeah, it happens."

"I'm sure he'll be back." Claire offered to him. It helped a little, but it didn't make Adrien feel much better. He looked to her and asked, "Would you mind if I went back with you and Owen to the paddock? Just to give me something do to while I wait for him."

"Gee, I don't know." Claire said as she walked along. But she thought about it and said, "Maybe it wouldn't hurt.

"You can ride with me to get him." Claire said and they made their way to a parking lot. Looking to him with a grin she said, "Get in."

"Sure." Adrien said before climbing into the passenger side.

Gabriel found a spot where it wasn't too crowded nor was he being watched by security cameras. He whipped out his phone and dialed a number. It picked up and he heard a woman say, "Hello? Mr. Agreste?"

"Nathalie, how goes everything back home." Gabriel asked, trying to stay calm. Nathalie then told him, "Everything's being taken care of, sir. How goes your vacation?"

"Fine for the most part." Gabriel said. He shook his head, "But the overwhelming negative emotions."

"What are you going to do?" Nathalie asked him. Gabriel then said, "I'm not sure. If only Ladybug and Cat Noir were here. I think I've found the perfect being to akumatize."

"Being?" Nathalie asked, not following his meaning. Gabriel told her, "There's a dinosaur here. A hybrid to be exact. And the waves of negative emotions coming from her would make her idealistic."

"But you've never akumatized an animal, an actual animal, before." Nathalie pointed out. Gabriel nodded, "Yes, but if I can akumatize a robot with feelings, then an animal shouldn't be too hard."

"But you'll need to find a spot to stay out of sight. Plus, there's the problem of Ladybug and Cat Noir." Nathalie pointed out, "They're still here in Paris. It would take the Miraculous of the Horse or one of their Power Ups to get to Isla Nublar."

"I'm sure that they'll get here soon enough." Gabriel thought aloud. Then he thought of something, "As for a place for me to hide, I think I know just the location."

Hanging up the phone, he placed it in his vest before looking about. With a dark look in his eye he started to look for a way out of the park.

Marinette and her friends were walking back through Main Street. She looked to them and asked, "So, what do you all want to do now?"

"I don't know about you guys." Nino said as he had an arm around Alya's shoulders. He rubbed his belly when he said, "But I sure could go for something to eat right about now. Who would have thought being saved from being eaten by a quartet of Velociraptors could make a guy hungry?"

"I could grab a bite too." Alya agreed with a laugh. Looking to her friends she asked, "What about you guys?"

"I was thinking about heading back to the hotel and grabbing my swimming trunks before hitting the pool." Kim said. Max then said, "I myself was planning on going to the Innovation Center and then maybe the Lab. I might also go back to the hotel to check on Markov."

"The four of us were thinking about going over to the petting zoo." Rose said as she looked to Juleka, Ivan and Mylene. Alix then said, "I'm heading back to the hotel as well. To get my skates and all that."

"What about you, Marinette?" Alya said and looked to her best friend. Marinette tried to think of something but shrugged, "Maybe I'll just walk around for a bit or something."

"You could wait for Adrien to get back." Nino suggested. Then he said, "He and his Dad must be back from whatever they were doing by now."

"Maybe." Marinette said as Kim, Max, Alix, Ivan, Mylene, Rose and Juleka all walked away. Placing a comforting hand on her best friend's shoulder she said, "Don't worry, Marinette. There's plenty of things to do here in Jurassic World."

'See ya, Marinette." Nino said as he and Alya waved to her before walking off. Marinette sighed as she watched them go before walking about Main Street.

Zach and Gray had made it out of the petting zoo and were running down Main Street. They ran past shops and a restaurant as a flame flared up. But as they kept running, Gray accidentally bumped into someone. A feminine voice angrily said, "Watch it."

Zach looked back to see Gray standing next to Chloe Bourgeois. Gray then offered, "Uh, sorry, Chloe."

"What's got you in a hurry anyway?" Chloe questioned as Zach rejoined them. With a wave of her hand she said, "You guys are being ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous."

"We were just escaping from the babysitters that Aunt Claire had put us with." Zach said with a shrug. Gray then asked, "What are you doing on Main Streety all by yourself?"

"Well, I was relaxing on the roof of the hotel for a bit." Chloe explained. Then with a sigh she said, "Then I was a little tempted to come and explore the park."

"Zach? Gray?" Alya's voice said from behind. All three looked to see Alya and Nino walking up to them. Chloe then teased, "Where's the rest of your squad?"

"They're out and about." Alya said with an eye roll. Then she teased back, "Tired of being pampered?"

"Not in the slightest." Chloe snootily lifted her head. Then she said, "I just wanted to come down and see at least a little excitement of the park is all."

"Okay." Nino shrugged. Then he said, "We're getting us something to eat. Want to join us?"

"Well, we were about to go and see…" Zach started to say. An announcement over the PA system said, "The next T-rex feeding will begin in ten minutes."

"I think we were going to go see that." Gray said and Zach nodded. Nino laughed and said, "Yeah, I think I'll pass on that. Nearly becoming Raptor chow has made me a little weary of large predatory dinosaurs."

"What does that even mean?" Chloe questioned as she didn't understand. Alya then said, "It's one of those, you had to have been there situations."

"But let's meet up for something else." Nino suggested and the brothers agreed. Zach looked to Chloe and asked, "Do you want to come with us?"

Chloe sighed and shrugged, "I guess. I have nothing better to do."

The three then turned to go into the T-rex Kingdom attraction. Alya turned to Nino and said, "Actually, I'm going to go and take a look."

"Let me guess. For your blog." Nino teased with a smile. Alya giggled before playfully pulling his hat over his eyes, "That's right, Cap Boy. I'll be back in a few."

"Okay." Nino said as he righted his hat. Alya gave him a quick hug before hurrying after the three.

"T-rex! T-rex! Come on, you guys! Come on!" Gray urged the two. Zach held up a hand to calm his brother, "Okay, easy."

"Lets go!" Gray excitedly said as he rushed in. As she followed after them, Chloe then asked, "Is he always like this?"

"Pretty much." Zach said as they followed after him. They looked back to see Alya running up to them.

…

When they had made inside, they saw that the observatory had been made to look like a log. Everyone stood at the windows to watch. They saw a goat tied to a wooden stack in the middle of the forest. From a tower that stuck up from the top of the log, a flare was flung and it landed near the goat. The light from the flare attracted a large bi-pedal dinosaur over. She was a large Tyrannosaurus Rex with dull gray, brown and little orange-colored scales. On the right side of her head and neck were three large scars. The goat started bleating in a panic as the T-Rex came closer. From up in the observatory, everyone watched as the T-Rex came closer. Some kids were chanting for her to eat the goat as she lifted her head up before lunging for the goat. Just about everyone who was watching said in unison, "Ew!"

"Live from the T-Rex Kingdom at Jurassic World observatory is your girl Alya Cessaire." The reporter said as she turned her phone to her. She then informed, "What we just witnessed was the feeding of Rexy, the Tyrannosaurus from the original Jurassic Park. That's right. This T-Rex has been around since the fall of the original park before becoming one the star attractions of the future.

"As you can see…" Alya said when she turned the camera back on the dinosaur, "Thanks to the medical sciences of today, Rexy has been living a healthy life here at Jurassic World. Stay connected, there'll be more dinosaur action soon."

"So you've got some footage of the Velociraptors?" Gray asked her while she put her phone away. Alya nodded to him, "Yep. And I have to admit, it was one heck of an experience."

Zach watched from afar before glancing over to Chloe who was leaning against the wall. He was about to go and talk to her when his phone went off. He took it out of his pocket and answered it when he saw who it was, "Hey, Mom."

"You were supposed to have called me when you landed." She reminded, sounding a little upset about it. Then she asked, "Are you guys having fun?"

Back in America in a business office, Karen stood out of an office with her phone up to her ear. She seemed to perk up when he said, "Yeah, I guess.

"We met a few French Students who say that they won a contest." Zach told her, sounding like it was no big deal. Karen then asked, "They say anything about Ladybug and Cat Noir? Or any other superheroes?"

"Mostly about Ladybug and Cat Noir." Zach said. Then he told her, "And Aunt Claire gave me and Gray some passes so we don't have to wait in line."

"Wait, she's not even with you?" Karen asked, surprised and shocked to hear this. With a sigh she said, "I'm gonna go. I'll call you later."

"Okay, love you." Zach said, and she knew he meant it. With a smile she said, "I love you too. And tell Gray I said hi."

"Will do." Zach said before he hung up. With a sigh Karen dialed another number. She then lifted her phone to her ear and waited.

On a trail to Owen's bungalow, Claire and Adrien were sitting in silence together. That was until Claire's phone, which had been placed in a holder on the dash went off. Claire took a quick look and recognized the number. Looking to Adrien she asked, "Uh, if you wouldn't mind to stay silent during this one call."

"Understood." Adrien nodded. Claire smiled and explained herself, "It's not you. It's a family call."

"Right." Adrien understood. Claire then pushed the button and looked to the road again when she answered, "Hey, Karen!"

"Hi, Claire. How's it going?" The voice on the other end asked. Claire thought for a moment on what to say before answering, "Yeah, everything's going great. The boys are having fun. Everyone's… Yeah, everyone's good here."

Adrien looked to her with slight surprise to think that she would lie to a family member. Her sister didn't seem to buy it when she revealed, "Really, because I just hung up with Zach, and he said that you weren't even with them."

Claire looked to Adrien who winced at that. She couldn't exactly blame him though, she basically dug that grave herself. With a sigh she tried to explain herself, "Yeah, look. Today turned out to be a really bad day for me. And um…

"You don't have to worry. They're in great hands. They're with my assistants and a bodyguard." Claire said to assure her that they were okay. That was when they heard a few sniffles over the phone. Seeing that she wasn't making anything better, Claire asked, "Wait, are you crying?"

"This was supposed to be a family weekend, Claire." Karen reminded after taking a deep breath to calm herself. Then she said, "You haven't seen the boys in forever. And I know how Zach will treat Gray if they're alone by themselves. And he can just be so mean sometimes."

Adrien couldn't help but admire how much that Zach and Gray's mother cared for them. He wished that his mother were still around to worry about him like this, when he wasn't in danger. Claire knew that she had messed up and said, "Ok, I-I am really sorry. And I promise tomorrow, I'm gonna go and spend the entire day with them. I'm going to take off from work, and I will not leave their side. I promise."

She waited for an answer and both her and Adrien heard what sounded like tapping on the glass. Then they heard her say, "Yeah, well, a promise tomorrow is worth a lot less than trying today."

"Ew, gross!" Claire scoffed before playfully saying, "You're using Mom's lines now?"

"Oh, my gosh. I am using Mom's lines." Karen said and it made Adrien smile. Luckily he remembered his promise to stay quiet. He listened when Karen said, "I'm sorry, but you know, I have to tell you, they do end up working.

"You'll see it when you have kids of your own." She said and Claire nodded. She laughed when she said, "Yeah, if."

"When." Karen repeated and Adrien mouthed the word to her. Claire rolled her eyes as he sister said, "It's totally worth it."

"Bye, Mom." Claire playfully said as she prepared to hang up. She waited and heard Karen say, "Bye."

Claire then hung up the phone and focused on driving. She glanced to Adrien and said, "Sorry, that you had to sit a family affair."

"It's okay, Claire. And it was nice to see you and your sister get along at the end there." Adrien said with a small grin. Then he said, "I kind of wish that I had that."

"What do you me-" Claire started to ask. Then she remembered and said, "Oh."

"It's okay." Adrien said as he looked down at the floor of the car. Claire looked to him for a moment before sighing and focusing on the road again.

Marinette continued to walk through the park, wondering what to do with her free time. She was interrupted when a familiar voice said to her, "Why so down, young lady?"

She looked to her left and was surprised once again to see Master Fu. This time he was wearing a Jurassic World worker's outfit as a disguise. She looked about and asked, "How?"

"I was on the ferry with you, but I had remained hidden just in case." Master Fu told her. Marinette then asked, "So, where are the Miraculous?"

"Uh, well, I… uh." Master Fu started to say. He seemed embarrassed when he said, "I may have accidentally left them behind."

"What?" Marinette questioned and her outburst caught the attention of other park attendants. She laughed when she looked about before saying, "Oh, um, sorry about that."

Then quickly turning Master Fu around, she slid him to a spot that was a little more private. When she was sure that they were alone, Marinette turned him around again and questioned, "You left them behind?"

"I was in a hurry not to be left behind in my haste to catch up with you." Master Fu explained. He rubbed the back of his neck when he said, "And in that haste, I forgot to pack them with my things."

"At least tell me that they're somewhere safe that not even Hawk Moth would think to look?" Marinette asked, hoping that she was right. Master Fu nodded, "Yes. They are quite safe. I left them in a place that Hawk Moth wouldn't think to look."

"I won't ask where, just in case." Marinette said with a smile. Master Fu smiled as well. But then he asked, "What seems to be the problem, Marinette?"

"Well, everyone else seems to know what they want to do here." Marinette said as she looked about the park. With a shrug she said, "I just can't think of what I should. I mean, I got stuck in a Gyrosphere earlier today. And then I saw Velociraptors being trained."

"You saw Velociraptors?" Master Fu said in astonishment. Marinette nodded and said, "Yeah, their handler saved Nino. But I feel bad for the handler. His boss wants to use the Raptors as weapons."

"That's terrible." Master Fu shook his head. Marinette nodded in agreement, "I just hope that Mr. Masrani doesn't let it happen. It would be awful for them. And I know Mr. Grady would be really worried about them too."

"One can only hope." Master Fu said as they stood on the street.

Author's Note: And I think I'll end it here. So yeah, Lila is up to no good, Alya, Chloe and Nino are going to be hanging out with the brothers, Adrien's with Claire and soon Owen, Marinette is talking to Master Fu and Zara and the Gorilla are getting along. I actually planned for those two to hook up. How it goes, you'll just have to wait and see. In the next chapter, Claire and Adrien pick up Owen to go see the paddock and a surprise visitor comes to the island. I look forward to reading your reviews.
