Chapter Eleven: Trying to Rein in the Chaos
In another part of the island, Hawk Moth walked through the forest. Thanks to the heightened senses due to the Miraculous, he was able to keep an ear out for anything that would come his way. It wasn't much longer when he came across an ideal spot. On the other side of a massive hole was the entrance into a shed of sorts. Hawk Moth seemed to be pleased with his discovery and said, "Ah, the old power shed of the fallen Jurassic Park. And while time had taken much of it away…
"There's still enough to fit my purposes." He smirked before leaping down into the hole. He landed on a decaying catwalk and stood up. He gasped when he was greeted by a pleasant surprise. A flock of white butterflies fluttered about and his grin returned, "It would seem that this was a fated day if I could find a swarm of akumas on Isla Nublar.
"I hope you're ready for a day of reckoning, Ladybug and Cat Noir." He added and started to maniacally laugh.

Back at the Control Room, the elevator beeped and Claire Dearing stepped inside. She looked about to see a lot of people in distress about what had just happened. The security guard could only nod to her and she turned and became surprised to see that they had a superhero with them. Everyone stopped what they were doing and turned their heads to her. She tried to keep a brave face on when she said, "Everyone remain calm."
"Remain calm? Remain calm?!" Ladybug questioned, making Claire's head snap to the Hero of Creation. Gesturing to the monitor she said, "You didn't just witness what we had! If Cat Noir hadn't been there," She looked to the side when she muttered, "even though I don't know how he's here." She became focused again, "Then there would have been another two bodies added to the count."
"And if you were here, why didn't you go to save them." Claire shot back, earning a few surprised looks from just about everyone in the room. With a deep breath she calmed down and walked forward, "But worry not, I have notified the right people and they will handle the situation."
"And what about her?" Ladybug questioned and pointed to the pinging dot that was continuously moving. Claire reassured her by saying, "The implant in its back will shock it if it gets too close to a perimeter fence."
"Okay. It's moving really fast across the island." Lower said while Ladybug didn't seem too sure about that answer. Ladybug then asked, "There are some safety measures for a situation like this, right?"
"Indeed, Ms. Ladybug." Vivian nodded to assure her. She raised her hand to her head set and started to say, "This is the Control Room. Put out a park-wide alert."
"Hang up that phone, please, Ms. Vivian." Mr. Masrani said, stopping it in its tracks. Ladybug looked back and asked, "Mr. Masrani, this is a really dangerous situation. The people's safety should be top priority."
"And they are." Claire said before nodding to Vivian. She hardly had a choice in it as she complied, "Uh, sorry. I'm getting some new information. Everything's fine now."
"We will let Asset Containment capture it swiftly and quietly." Mr. Masrani said, having faith in the right people. While Claire nodded to this, there were a good deal of people who weren't so sure. Mr. Masrani then reminded them, "The very existence of this park is predicated on our ability to handle incidents much like this.
"It was an eventuality, okay?" He added and it seemed to tick Ladybug off. She walked up to him and asked, "Did you honestly think that the deaths of innocent people was an eventuality?"
"That's not what I meant, Ms. Ladybug." Simon said. He then explained by saying, "The deaths are tragic, and we will make all the necessary arrangements, I promise you. But the eventuality I meant is that a situation where one of the dinosaurs escaping was a high possibility."
Ladybug still wasn't happy with his words, but she decided to trust his judgement. They looked to him when Lowery said, "You should put that in the brochure. 'Eventually, one of these things is going to eat somebody.'"
"That paddock is four miles from the closest attraction." Claire said when she viewed the map. She shook her head as knew that their team could handle it, "The ACU can handle this mission. No one else is gonna get…"
"Eaten?" Lowery finished as he had his own thoughts. Ladybug looked to Mr. Masrani and said, "I still think you should take cautionary measures regarding the tourists."
"Like Ms. Dearing said…" Simon recited, "She is a great deal from another attraction. But should the situation become much worse, I will indeed have all safety measures engaged."
"Okay." Ladybug said, even though she had a bad feeling in her gut. Even Mr. Masrani was starting to feel unsure. Looking to the super heroine he asked, "Ladybug?"
"Yes, sir?" Ladybug said and walked up to him. Masrani looked to be thinking about it and asked, "I don't suppose that I could ask you to go with them, could I?
"I feel that with your help, we'll be able to safely capture her and prevent the loss of more lives." Masrani explained. Marinette didn't take a moment to think about it and said, "Of course. If I hurry I can catch up to them before they leave."
"The ACU building isn't too far from here." Masrani told her as she ran for the elevator. Turning to Claire he said, "Contact ACU and tell them that they're going to have an addition to the team."
"Are you-" Claire started to ask. But he cut her off with a single nod, "I am. And let Hamada know that he is to work with Ladybug and vice versa. When she is serious about something, he is to follow it.
"But when he advises her, she does what she can." Simon told her. Looking to Ladybug as she stepped into the elevator and asked, "Are you okay with that?"
"I think that'll work." Ladybug said just as the elevator doors closed.

In another part of the facility, a group of men walked into a room with blue lighting. Weapons were grabbed and suits were put on as they prepared for the hunt. On the radio, they heard someone say, "To all units. This is a non-lethal operation. Understood?"
One of the soldiers handed their commander, a man named Hamada, a taser staff. He pressed the button to let it off for a moment before turning it off. He picked up a gun full of tranquilizers and they prepared to head out. But as he neared the door, his radio went off and said, "Hamada, the Control Room says that you're gonna have an extra join you on your mission."
"We have all that we need." Hamada started to argue. But the other person said, "Masrani's orders. And you're gonna be working with Ladybug."
That got a lot of people to stop moving and they looked to Hamada. The leader of the ACU team sighed and said, "Have her meet us here. Trucks are about to pull out."

In an undestroyed vehicle, Owen and Cat Noir quickly drove through the forest. They were using the same path that Claire had taken earlier back to the park. As Owen was the one to drive, Cat Noir kept a look out for the Indominus in case she decided to strike. Cat Noir glanced to the Raptor Trainer and said, "She's had a pretty good head start. I think we would have run into her by now."
"Yeah, plus she's well hidden in the jungle. We probably won't find her if we look." Owen shook his head. Cat Noir turned to him and asked, "Is there any way to lure her to us? If that's the plan?"
"It's not the plan." Owen shook his head. Then he said, "And since I don't really know what we're up against, I wouldn't know how to deal with it."
"Well, we'll think of something." Cat Noir promised. That got a grin from Owen and he nodded in agreement. A thought occurred to Owen and he glanced at Cat Noir. Owen knew that he shouldn't be doing this, but the thought wouldn't stop bothering him. He then said to him, "So, uh, I know you said that you got Adrien to safety and all."
"I did." Cat Noir nodded, keeping up the somewhat truth. Owen then asked, "Did he happen to mention anything about the knife that I gave him."
"Oh, uh…" Cat Noir tried to think. The cat-themed hero tried to remember everything before the chase, but couldn't. With a shrug he smiled and said, "He told me that he would take care of it."
'Oh, that's good." Owen nodded, knowing he had Cat Noir where he wanted him. With a smirk he said, "There's just one thing."
"Hm?" Cat Noir said and looked to him with a confused look. Owen then revealed, "I never gave him a knife."
Cat Noir's eyes widened and Owen said, "So, Adrien? You got away, huh?"
"I can explain." Cat Noir started to say. But Owen raised his hand and laughed when he said, "Eh, no worries, man. And you don't have to worry. I won't say anything. You're secrets safe with me."
"Uh, thanks." Cat Noir said with a grin, even though he knew that he would be in big trouble if Ladybug found out. His grin didn't falter when he said, "And when you think about it, he did evacuate in a vehicle."
This made Owen laugh a little as he saw Cat Noir's point. The car continued to speed back to the park.

Back at the Raptor Paddock, two Velociraptors had been lured into a holding pen and were being checked up on by Barry. But they didn't seem too happy about it as they growled and the parts that were holding their heads shook. Barry walked up to Blue and gently petted her to calm her down. He softly spoke in French as he gently moved his hand under her chin. It seemed to work as she calmed down a bit. Hoskins walked into the cage and asked, "How fast can they run?"
Blue growled at the sight of the man and Barry looked up. He nodded when he said, "Forty.
"Fifty when they're hungry." He added before taking notice of Lila on the outside of the cage. Blue seemed to be put on edge by her and it seemed to rile her sister Delta up as well. Barry and Hoskins were a little startled, and the former worked to calm Blue down. When she seemed to relax, Hoskins then asked, "You ever open them up, see what they can do?"
"No." Barry shook his head, knowing what Hoskins was trying to do. Leaning against the outside bars, Lila started to ask, "Ever wondered about-"
"No." Barry said, cutting her off. Lila looked to him with a shocked look before it became a scowl. Her anger seemed to make Delta happy as well as they calmed down even more. Blue knocked against the wall of her cage with her foot and it seemed to not only spook Hoskins, but Lila as well. Hoskins started laughing, "Oh, man. That got me."
"Got me too." Lila said when she placed her hand over her heart. Barry stood up from his stool and lightly teased, "What do you two think? Either of you want to take one home?"
"My life's got enough excitement back in Paris." Lila said, not looking very keen on the one staring at her, which was Blue. Hoskins shook his head, "And don't joke with me, pal.
"When I was our age, I rescued a wolf pup." He said as he walked around Blue's head. She growled at him as her eyes followed his movements. Hoskins looked at her with a bit of a look before continuing, "It was, like, two months old. And it could barely walk. It used to sleep by my bed."
Barry started to take a look at Delta as he came over and continued with his story, "Watch over me like a guardian angel. My wife, she came at me with a steak knife and it ended up taking a chunk out of her arm."
"Did you put him down?" Barry asked, while Lila stayed close to listen. Hoskins shook his head, "Heck, no." Glancing to Blue before looking back he said, "We had an unshakeable bond, you know?
"Just like you and, uh-" He said and point to the Raptor in front of him. Looked to Blue as he tried to remember his name. Turning back to Barry he asked, "What's his name again?"
"Delta." Barry said. Then he reminded, "And she's a girl."
"Oh." Vic said as he somewhat remembered and felt a little embarrassed. Then he asked, "Can I, uh…"
He raised his hand and motioned to pet her. Though he was a little reluctant, Barry nodded and gestured for him to go ahead. Though Delta didn't seem to happy about as she started to breathe heavily as his hand came closer. She snarled when he touched her and he backed his hand away. Barry came forth and calmed her down by gently stroking her under the chin and made calm shushing noises. Delta slightly calmed down and Vic tried again. When she didn't snarl from his touch he said, "Oh, wow."
"I'll say." Lila said as she watched. She leaned her chin against her palm and said, "And you know, thinking on Vic's experience with such a trustworthy animal.
"Kind of makes me wonder if the same could be said for them." She added while gesturing to the restrained Blue and Delta. Barry looked to her with an unamused look. They all looked when they heard Barry's beeper going off. He unstrapped it from his belt and took a look. Looking up he said something in French before turning away. While Vic was a little lost, Lila's eyes widened a bit. Barry called out to the other workers, "We have a Code Nineteen!"
"That's the new one!" A man shouted as they all started moving about the place. Barry then informed, "They said we lost two guys to her!"
"What's a Code Nineteen?" Vic asked. Lila agreed by asking, "Yeah, it sounds serious."
"It's very serious." Barry nodded. He looked to them and said, "Asset out of Containment."
"Wait, like a dinosaur is roaming free outside of its cage?" Lila asked, becoming very worried. Barry shook his head, "These people, they never learn."
He walked out of the cage while Lila watched him go. Vic turned to see him leave before glancing to Lila. He whipped out a satellite phone and said, "Well, they're going to learn all kinds of things about their new asset now."
"Don't you think that you're jumping the gun?" Lila asked him. Hoskins shook his head, "No sense in not being prepared."
He dialed a number and waited a moment. When he wasn't looking, Lila rolled his eyes before walking off. When he got an answer, Vic said, "Hey. Yeah, it's me. Listen, we might have an opportunity for ourselves here."
As Lila was walking along the grounds, her phone went off. She took it out of her pocket and saw that she had a video message. She tapped it to view the contents and watched it. It wasn't too much longer as Barry and Hoskins were finishing up informing their people when everyone heard Lila shout, "WHAT?!"
They came up to her and looked over her shoulder. What they watched was the video of Ladybug saving the guy on Main Street. Barry smiled when he said, "Incredible. I didn't know that she was going to be here."
"Why is she here?" Lila angrily questioned as she looked like she was about to break her phone with her grip. Vic looked to Lila and asked, "You have something against Ladybug?"
"Something? More like a couple of somethings!" Lila said before putting her phone away. Looking between the two she ranted, "She practically costed me a chance with Adrien Agreste."
"The son of that fashion designer, Gabriel Agreste?" Vic asked her. She nodded while gritting her teeth. Barry started to have a feeling that there was a lot more to Lila's story than she was letting on.

On another part of the island, a herd of Gallimimus were running through a field. Some were squawking as a safari bus drove close to them. High up on the mountains, a monorail was heading in the opposite direction of the herd. In the front car, Zach, Gray, Nino, Alya and Chloe were all close together. Zach looked back and asked a couple of girls sitting behind him and asked, "You guys been here before?"
While he was chatting it up with them, Alya happened to look back and noticed a sad look on Gray's face. She nudged Nino and when he looked she gestured for him to look back. He looked back and saw what she was seeing. Maneuvering to where she could fully see him, Alya asked, "Everything okay there, Gray?"
"No." Gray shook his head as thoughts were plaguing his mind. It seemed to catch Zach's attention when he glanced to his brother. He was caught off guard when Gray looked to him and asked, "If Mom and Dad get divorced, will one of us have to live with Mom and the other go with Dad."
"What? Why would you say that?" Zach asked, not understanding what he was talking about it. Both Nino and Alya were greatly surprised by the question and glanced to each other before looking back. Gray looked away when he sadly thought, "Because they are."
"No, they're not getting…" Zach shook his head, not thinking it was possible. Gray nodded his head that they were and Zach tried to reassure him, "Don't worry, they aren't getting a divorce."
"How would you know that they're getting a divorce?" Alya asked a good question. Zach then argued, "And look. You haven't been around long enough. They've always been that way as far as I know."
"They've been getting mail from two different lawyers." Gray told him. Zach didn't think it meant divorce, "That doesn't mean anything."
"I googled the names. They're divorce lawyers." Gray said, and all three teens became very shocked to hear that. Zach sat back in his seat as he tried to process the news. He noticed Alya waving to him. When he leaned forward she quietly said, "Try to cheer him up."
"Uh, okay." Zach said and sat back in his seat. Glancing to Gray he shrugged, "Look, it's not going to be that bad. It doesn't even matter, okay?
"And all my friend's parents are divorced." His answer made both Alya and Nino facepalm. They looked to the younger sibling to see he was crying. Not wanting to deal with Gray acting like this Zach said, "Hey, knock it off."
"No." Gray softly cried and both teens looked to him with sympathetic looks. Zach then questioned, "You gonna cry?"
"Dude, not good brothering skills." Nino shook his head. Zach looked to him and Nino pointed to himself, "And this is coming from a guy who's low on Santa's list when his own brother got akumatized."
"Try something else." Alya said with a glare. It made Zach flinch a little and he made a calming motion with his hands, "Okay.
"I mean, think about it, you're going to get two of everything, okay." Zach said when he looked to his brother. He tried to make it sound like a good thing, "You're gonna have two birthdays, two Thanksgivings, two Chr-"
"I don't want two of everything." Gray said, wanting their family to stay together. Knowing how his brother felt, Zach felt that they both needed to toughen up when he said, "Yeah, well, it's not up to you. All right?
"There's a point in your life when you have to grow up." He said and it made Gray look away. Zach thought of his words and thought to say something, but just sighed and sat back in his seat. That's when he noticed the disapproving looks from Nino and Alya. Alya then said, "If we weren't on this train surrounded by all these people, I'd so punch you for being such a jerk."
"Whatever." Zach shrugged as if he didn't care and looked away. Unbeknownst to all of them, Chloe had been listening to whole conversation. While part of her didn't want to care, another thought about when her own mother had gone to New York and was away for so long. She also thought about how Adrien was without his mother since she disappeared. Chloe then thought about what Ladybug or herself as Queen Bee would do.
From his spot, Gray watched from the window before noticing two vehicles moving very fast down a road through the plains. He was brought back to the train when he heard Alya shout, "OM Goodness!"
"What?" Gray and Nino asked as they both looked over her shoulder. Alya then reported, "Ladybug was seen on the island."
"Wait, what?" Chloe said before turning in her seat to look on Alya's phone as well. Alya rewound the video to show Ladybug rescuing the man on Main Street. Nino then asked, "Why would Ladybug have come to Isla Nublar?"
"Don't know." Alya shook her head. Gray then suggested, "Maybe if you see her when we get back you can ask her."
"Good point." Alya nodded in agreement.

Both vehicles drove through the park and went past a river wading ride as a few of the guests paddled alongside dinosaurs that were wading about in the water. A few of the dinosaurs lightly growled as the transports went by. In one of the transports, Ladybug sat across from Hamada as they waited to arrive. While no one said anything, one of the soldiers seemed to be giving Ladybug a bit of a glare that she didn't seem to notice.

Back in the Control Room, the elevator beeped when it reached the floor. The doors opened to reveal Owen and Cat Noir. The guard moved forward and said, "I need to see a badge. Sirs, I need to see a badge."
"Would this count as a badge?" Cat Noir asked him and showed him his ring of the Black Cat while Owen kept walking. The guard just gave him an unamused look before he quickly walked after Owen. Claire looked back Owen marched up to them and questioned, "What the heck happened out there?"
"Sir." The guard started to say. But Cat Noir raised his hand and said, "I wouldn't upset him even more."
"There are thermal cameras all over that paddock." Owen pointed out. Cat Noir placed a hand on his shoulder from going further and he shouted, "She did not just disappear!"
Claire took a deep breath and sighed before turning to them. Looking to Cat Noir she said, "I appreciate the save."
"Uh, I wouldn't call it much of a save if not everyone made it out." Cat Noir shook his head. Claire just shook her head for what Owen was upset about, "As for what happened, it must have been some kind of a technical malfunction."
"A technical malfunction?!" Both Cat Noir and Owen exclaimed at the same time. Owen looked to the superhero with a look and Cat Noir quickly corrected himself to say, "What I meant to say was, the situation seemed a bit more of a technical malfunction in a sense."
"Uh…" Claire, Vivian and Lowery said as they had no idea what to say. Owen took their attention by saying, "Were you all not watching? She marked up that wall as a form of distraction. She wanted us to think that she had escaped."
"Hold on now. We are talking about an animal here. A dinosaur no less." Claire argued when she turned to him, thinking it was preposterous. Owen then pointed out, "A highly intelligent animal."
"Even an octopus would have found a way out eventually." Cat Noir sided with Owen. They were all brought to attention when Vivian said, "Four hundred meters to the beacon's location."
They all looked up to the monitor to see the two cars driving through. Cat Noir's eyes widened and he asked, "Wait, why is Ladybug with them?"
"I had asked her to tag-a-long with them." Simon explained to him. Cat Noir looked back to the screen and could only hope that his friend would be alright.

Back with Ladybug and the ACU, the transports soon came within three hundred and fifty meters to the target when they stopped. Ladybug happened to look to her right and noticed the trooper who was giving her a not so friendly look. Looking to Hamada she asked, "What's with Sir Frowns-A-Lot?"
"Oh, Corey?" Hamada asked when he glanced to the trooper. Said trooper looked away when he saw his commander looking to him. Hamada looked back to Ladybug and said, "Don't mind him. He's not used to taking orders from a superhero on a dinosaur hunt."
"Let's roll boss." One of the drivers said. Hamada nodded to Ladybug and said, "Ready to do this."
"Never really fought against a hybrid dinosaur before." Ladybug shook her head. She gave a nervous chuckled when she said, "The only dinosaur I've really fought against was a man that could turn into one after being akumatized."
"It's not going to be like that." Hamada shook his head. He grabbed his weapons before he and Ladybug followed the other troopers out of the car.

Author's Note: I know that there wasn't a whole lot of action in this chapter, but that's for the next chapter. As for Corey, I think we all know what's going to happen with him.
