Chapter Seventeen: Pterosaur Attack
Not too far from the old Visitor's Center, Ladybug, Claire, Owen, Cat Noir and Master Fu were still searching when they heard the jeep's engine revving in the distance. A hopeful Claire looked to the others before they started rushing forward to where they heard the sound. They quickly came upon the old garage to see that one of the old jeeps was missing. Master Fu looked out to the jungle and said, "It appears that we just missed them, judging from these tracks."
"Huh?" Claire said before looking to where he was. She saw the tracks were going and said, "That road goes straight back to the park."
"Wow, I'm impressed that they were able to get one of these old fossils running." Cat Noir quipped with a grin. He looked to Ladybug and said, "'Old fossils', get it."
But all she did was give him an unamused glance before looking around the place. Cat Noir then said, "Look, I'm sorry that I didn't tell you that I was leaving Paris."
His words seemed to make her stop and she looked back to him. She seemed to feel a little guilty as well before offering a small smile, "I'm sorry too."
"Not to cut this happy moment…" Owen cut in and it made them look to him. The Raptor Trainer then said, "But we still have a bit of a job to do."
"Right." The two heroes nodded in agreement. Owen noticed something on the ground and picked up a discarded shirt. He looked to Claire and asked, "Is this one of theirs?"
Claire nodded and he dropped the piece of clothing. Master Fu then suggested, "Perhaps we can follow after the five."
"Yeah, but it'll take ages to get back to the car." Cat Noir lightly argued. Looking to Ladybug he asked, "Don't suppose that you couldn't give us a Lucky Charm in the shape of a car, Milady?"
"You know it doesn't work like that." Ladybug reminded him. Looking to Owen she asked while pointing to the other jeep, "Do you think we can fix this one?"
"It might be a little tricky." Owen shook his head. But before anything could happen, the sound of a heavy thud made everyone freeze. Dust fell from the roof as whatever was outside came closer. All five moved around the front of the jeep and looked to the opening. Another thud made them all duck down. Ladybug removed her yo-yo and opened it up to where it would act like a mirror. She moved it to where she could see outside the garage door. Owen looked around the truck to the gun that he had left laying against the side of the jeep.
Ladybug watched the door just as Owen started reaching for the gun. But they both became really nervous when the Indominus' foot stomped into view. They both sat rigidly still with the others. Sweat was running from everyone's brow as they were really scared out of their minds. And the snarling from the hybrid dinosaur wasn't making anything better. The sound of sniffing made them glance up to see her moving her head into the garage. While the Indominus could only see the tops of their heads, her ability to sense heat and their scents told her where they were and how much fear was coming off of them. She decided to play with the five and used her head to shake the car a little when she pressed up against it. Everyone tried to remain silent, even though Claire's lips were trembling in fear.
The Indominus gave a growl when she pushed the car one last time before slowly backing out again. They opened their eyes when they heard her footsteps moving away from the garage. When they were sure that she was gone, Owen glanced around to see that she had left and quickly made for his gun. He grabbed it before rejoining the others and nodding that they were safe. Everyone started taking deep breaths, but it was short lived when they heard a loud thud coming from the roof of the garage. They looked up in shock when the Indominus' head came crashing through. The five screamed as she roared down at them. They all scrambled to get back onto their feet and made a run for the door. Owen and Cat Noir hade to make a jump for it when the Indominus used one of her hands to push the jeep forward. It crashed into the wall opposite from the door while the five ran down the hall.
They came running into the lobby of the Visitors Center but didn't stop to admire anything as they ran for the door. Claire's shirt ripped when it snagged on a piece of debris, but she didn't notice it as she just kept on running for her life. When they were outside, Ladybug looked to Cat Noir and requested, "Cat Noir! Buy us some time!"
"You got it." Cat Noir nodded before turning back to the door. He raised his right hand and called out, "Cataclysm!"
Destructive energy came about Cat Noir's hand and he prepared to swipe it across the doors. He looked up and offered a quick, "Sorry, Jurassic Park! But it's for a good cause!"
He swiped his hand and the doors started to decay before they and the wall came crumbling down. When he was sure that there was enough rubble blocking the door, he turned to catch up with the others.

In his lair, Hawk Moth could feel the tremors between the Indominus and Cat Noir's Cataclysm. He heard a few roars from the hybrid dinosaur as well. Looking up to the opening he said, "Perhaps it might be time to find myself a new hiding place."
Hawk Moth became suspicious when he heard the sounds of a helicopter approaching. He looked up to see a helicopter passing over the trees.

Inside of the old Visitor's Center, the Indominus crashed through the hallway a growl. She looked about for her prey but could only see the collapsed wall. She crushed one of the ancient skulls of Jurassic Park as she roared in frustration. But the sound of a helicopter made her look up to see its shadow pass over her.
She turned and crashed through another wall before making her escape.

Up ahead on another path, Claire was holding her phone to her ear. When she got through she said, "Lowery, we found her.
"The Indominus is south of the Gyrosphere Valley, between the old park and the Aviary." She informed him. Lowery sounded confused when he asked, "Wait, wait. Are you guys following the dinosaur?"
"Sort of." Claire shrugged as she continued to run. Then she ordered, "Get ACU out here right now. And real guns this time."
Up ahead, Owen gave a little grin as he had been right to want to do this in the first place. Claire was surprised when Lowery said, "ACU is already airborne. They went ahead and took the helicopter."
"Who's flying it?" Claire asked when they stopped to catch their breath. Lowery then said, "You're not going to believe it."
"Uh, hate to leave for a moment." Cat Noir said to the other four. Pointing back he said, "But I've got some business to take care of."
He didn't wait for a response as he quickly ran into the forest. The other four looked to where he ran off before looking to each other with a shrug.

Up in the air, Simon was able to get the chopper to cover a good deal of the terrain where they thought that the Indominus was. Deciding to know the two with him he asked, "Did either of you boys serve in the Armed Forces?"
"Afghanistan, sir." The trooper next to him nodded. He glanced back to the other soldier and asked, "Did your general ever fly into a battle with you?"
The chopper suddenly started shaking and the trooper in the back clung to his seat for dear life. Masrani was on it as he tried to steady the chopper, "Got it. Got it. Got it."
The helicopter continued to fly around one of the many mountains. The soldier next to Masrani opened up the radio channel when a message was coming to them. Vivian's voice said over the radio, "We have a few eyes on the target, just south of the Aviary.
"Proceed and engage, over." She said before cutting out. Masrani then shouted to the two troopers, "Come on! Look alive now, boys!"
The two soldiers proceeded to do just that as they looked out the window for any sign of the Indominus Rex. They also kept an eye out just in case they were to miraculously spot Hawk Moth too.

Down on the ground, Claire, Ladybug, Owen and Master Fu came running out of some foliage to see what was happening. Ladybug and Master Fu looked back when they heard Cat Noir shout, "Wait for me! Wait for me!"
They came to a stop on a cliff that had a perfect view of a giant dome on the other side of the valley. Ladybug looked to Claire and asked, "I take it that's the Aviary."
"It is." Claire nodded and they looked about for either Masrani, the Indominus or the five missing kids. Cat Noir joined them as Masrani's helicopter flew over them. Ladybug looked to Cat Noir and asked, "Think you could give us a bird's eye view, Kitty?"
"Always for you, Bugaboo." Cat Noir winked before holding his staff up and pressed a button. Then pressing a button, the staff extended pretty high and a compartment on the side opened up to reveal a small screen. They watched for a moment when Ladybug spotted something and pointed, "There she is!"
They saw her on the screen and saw her running through the jungles. The five were hoping that the situation could be handled before it escalated any further.
…
Up in the air as they were nearing the Aviary, one of the soldiers seemed to spot something down on the ground. He pointed and shouted, "Ten o'clock! Over by the birdcage!"
They both took a glance out the window to see the Indominus Rex running through the trees. She roared up at them but didn't stop running as she made a bee-line for the Aviary. When they seemed to have a clear shot, Masrani ordered, "Light it up!"
The trooper in the back complied when he opened fire. The bullets ripped apart everything that they hit as they flew through the air. Dirt from the ground and branches from the trees were wrecked from the onslaught from the bullets. The only thing didn't seem to hit the Indominus as she was able to keep ahead of the stream of bullets. The trooper manning the gun tried moving the gun to where it would hit her, but the Indominus was a step ahead as she lowered her head. With a growl she was able to bash her way into the Aviary.
Those in the helicopter and those on the cliff were shocked to see that they were too late to stop her from reaching the Aviary.

Back in the Control Room, the Icon for the Aviary turned red, meaning that it had been breached. Lowery pressed a few keys to see what had happened. When a screen had been pulled up, no one was liking what they were seeing. The Indominus had moved away from the opening that she had created and was roaring at the Pterosaurs inside the dome. Vivian was horrified while Lowery shook his head, "No, no, no, no, no!"
"Looks like the fox made it into the henhouse." Vic said when he moved to look at Lowery's monitor. Lowery looked to him before looking to the hand on his shoulder. Very gently, Lowery removed Vic's hand from his person.
From behind, Lila was leaning against the wall, watching the whole thing.

Inside the Aviary, the Indominus growled at all the Pterosaurs and they screeched back at her. She turned and screeched at another group and they took flight. She chomped at a few to make them fly towards the opening that she had created. The Pterosaurs began to take evasive maneuvers as they flew through the hole. While some were flying in one direction, the others were flying towards the ACU chopper. The trooper manning the gun warned, "Pull up! Pull up! Up, up, up!"
He shot at a few and some fell from the sky. But others were able to make it past the gun and ram into the side of the helicopter. Masrani fought to keep them airborne, but the jolt was enough to knock the trooper in the back out of the chopper.
Down on the cliff, everyone gasped to see the man dangling from the chopper. Ladybug and Claire both screamed when one of the Pterosaurs grabbed the man with their beak. The trooper next Masrani shouted, "Watch out!"
But it was too late as a Pteranodon's beak smashed through the glass of the windshield. Its beak went through the trooper and he groaned in pain before slumping forward. Masrani tried to fight for control of the chopper as it was under constant attack from the Pterosaurs. One hit the tail of the helicopter and it started smoking.
…
On the ground, Claire gasped in fright from what was happening. She quickly turned her head to Ladybug and shouted, "Ladybug, save them! Please!"
"I'm on it!" Ladybug nodded and removed her yo-yo from her side. She knew that she had to make it count and threw the yo-yo towards the falling helicopter. Ladybug could only hope that it would make it in time.
…
Masrani was still fighting for control of the helicopter when he saw something coming towards the helicopter. He recognized Ladybug's yo-yo and was hoping that she had a plan. But before it could even come close to the falling helicopter, another Pterosaur smacked into the side and knocked it off course.
Time seemed to slow down as everyone watched in shock as the yo-yo missed the helicopter entirely. Everyone on the cliff watched in horror as the helicopter crash through the dome of the Aviary.

Inside the Aviary, the Indominus looked up to see the helicopter falling and landed a few yards from where she stood. She growled as she turned and ran just when it exploded. She headed right through the hole that she made to make her escape.

In the Control Room, Vivian started crying from the tragedy that had happened before their eyes. They watched as the Indominus escaped back to into the jungles of the island. Everyone was shocked and horrified that it had happened. Vivian was able to pull herself together as she put out an alert, "We have a breach in the Aviary. Send out an alert."
The others in the room could only watch as the chaos continued to unfold before them.

The remaining Pterosaurs in the Aviary screeched and took to the air. They flew out of the newly made hole as smoke continued to billow from the helicopter wreckage.

On the cliff, the distraught five became shocked and worried from the amount of Pterosaurs that were flying from the Aviary. Cat Noir didn't look away as he asked, "Uh, should we really be standing here."
"Running would be a good idea." Master Fu agreed. Even Owen seemed to be with that plan and shouted, "Get to the trees! Go! Go!"
He scooped Master Fu up in his arms and started running with the other four right behind him. Behind the five, the Pterosaurs were starting to gain on them. Owen looked back and said, "Ladybug! Cat Noir! Give us some cover!"
"You got it." Cat Noir said as he and Ladybug readied their respective weapons. But it didn't seem to necessary as the Pterosaurs flew over them and the trees. They had to duck down when a straggler or two came at them.
They looked up from where they lay and saw all the Pterosaurs flying together. Master Fu noticed where they were heading and pointed, "They're heading straight for the park!"
"I know where we can get some wheels!" Claire said as she stood back up. The other four got up as well and she said, "There's an outpost for vehicles not too far from here. If we hurry, we can get back to the park!"
"Then we'd better hurry." Ladybug said as they all started running again.

The five's jeep continued zooming down the old trail when Zach saw something ahead. It appeared to be a really old gate from the first park. Glancing back he asked, "Think we can get through there in one go?"
"Oh, most definitely." Alya nodded as she clung to the banner really tight. Everyone held on as Zach pushed on the gas pedal a little more and rammed right through the gate. They all started laughing at how crazy and awesome it was. They seemed to relax and Zach said, "Okay, that's it then. We're safe now."
But when Gray, Alya, Nino and Chloe all looked into the rearview mirror they were in for a big surprise. They could see the Pterosaurs not too far behind them. They all slowly looked back and could see the flying dinosaurs starting to gain. Gray turned to his brother and slapped the dash when he said, "Go, go!"
"Huh?" Zach asked and looked in the mirror. Chloe looked back to the driver and said, "Go faster! Must go faster!"
"Oh, crud." Zach said as everyone hung on again when he changed gears. The jeep started going much faster down the road. They could see the end of the tree line up ahead, and with it, the wall that led back into the park.
Up on wall over the fifth gate, two men with rifles stood and kept an eye out. The incoming jeep caught their eyes and they looked to see it speeding down the path. They heard the five teen shouting, "Help! Hey! Let us in! Come on! Open it up!"
"That's a first for me." The guard on the left said with a shake of his head. The other guard nodded in agreement. The five kids continued to shout at them to open up for them. But their attention was stolen when shrieks from the sky made them all look up. They became surprised and scared when they saw the large flock of Pterosaurs heading their way. While one of the guards went to go let the kids in, the other raised his radio to report this.

Ladybug, Cat Noir, Owen, Claire and Master Fu all made it to the spot where Claire was talking about and could see lots of people running around. Ladybug looked about and said, "We need to find a vehicle and fast."
"On it." Owen said before running off. They could hear a man on the PA system say, "Attention all Aviary employees, there has been a containment breach. Please head to the safe zones."
Claire's phone suddenly went off and she picked it up, "Hello?"
"Claire, we've spotted the boys and the three missing French Students on surveillance. Plus there was a report." She hear Zara say to her. Claire was then informed, "Me, Adrien's bodyguard and some of the other French Students are on our way to meet them."
"Okay, thank you." Claire said, feeling much more relieved when she heard the good news. Then she said, "Okay, Zara. Stay right there with them. I'm on my way back now."
"Yes, ma'am." Zara said before the line went dead. The sound of a revving engine made her look to see Owen on an ATV. He looked back and shouted, "All of you, get on!"
While Ladybug and Cat Noir crouched in the back, Claire sat right behind Owen while Master Fu sat on the front. Thanks to him being shorter, Owen could see past him. Owen then said, "Everyone, hang on."
The engine revved again before pulling away and heading to the park itself.

Main Street was completed flooded with people as Zara, Zeke, the Gorilla and the other French Students were walking through to get to their friends. Lots of people didn't seem to be having any fun as they had their space crowded or broiling in the hot sun. Ivan groaned, "Uh, just how many people are out here?"
"Practically all of the park must be here." Max said as he looked about. Suddenly, the woman's voice came over the PA system, "Ladies and gentlemen, due to a containment anomaly all guests must take shelter in a nearby building immediately."
Some of the guests began to get worried as a few looked about. From where they were walking, Alix saw something over the Innovation Center and pointed, "Uh, what's that?"
Everyone looked to where she was pointing and their eyes widened. Even the other guests were starting to look as the recording played again. Juleka found her voice for the moment and said, "Uh, I think we might want to get inside."
"She's right. Run!" Kim said and he, Ivan and the Gorilla stayed at the back as they all started moving. Everyone else followed suit as the Pterosaurs descended on the park. An emergency siren started wailing as people started screaming. People were being pecked, bitten at or grabbed by one of the larger Pterosaurs as they flew by.
The Gorilla was able to protect the group when he bashed a Dimorphodon in the face and kept another's beak from him. Kim came to Adrien's bodyguard's rescue by hitting it with his shoulder. Everyone else did their best to keep their heads down. Mylene screamed when a Dimorphodon came at her, but Ivan grabbed it by the tail before flinging it away with his great strength. Max managed to duck under a swooping Pteranodon when he heard Nino shout, "Max! Guys!"
They all looked to see Zach, Gray, Nino, Chloe and Alya running up to them. The search party shouted, "Guys!"
The French Students ran forward to meet with them while the bodyguard was busy protecting Zara and Zeke. Rose was the one to reach them and ask, "Where have you guys been?"
"You had us worried there." Mylene threw in the question before they all had to duck. Alya then pointed out, "Look, there'll be a time for explanations later. But we need to get out of this.
"Ladybug and Cat Noir should be here soon to help out." She said, hoping it were true. Zara was able to make over to them and said, "We need to keep moving. We'll meet Ms. Dearing on Main Street." She ushered them to follow, "Come along, everyone."
No one argued as they followed right after her. They had to be on their toes as glass was shattered and people screaming everywhere. People screamed in pain ad fear as they were knocked into or knocked off their feet.
One guest was able to make into a building unscathed and turned to find himself in a restaurant. He walked over to the counter and the cashier, who seemed oblivious to what was happening outside, had a smile when she asked, "Welcome to the Jurassic Café. What'll it be?"
"Uh, I'll take a Jurassic Smash Sundae, please." The guest said with a grin.
A moment later, the man got his ice cream and walked over to a table by a window. He seemed to be oblivious to what was going on outside as he sat down. If one looked, they would see people still running for the lives. Then the man noticed that he didn't have any napkins and saw them on another table. He reached over and grabbed a handful of them. But when he leaned back, he was shocked to see a Dimorphodon eating his sundae. The little reptile looked up to him with a chirp. The man got up and slowly walked away from the table. The Dimorphodon watched him go before digging into the ice cream once again.
Back outside, chaos was still ensuing as people were running and being attacked by the flying dinosaurs.

Inside the Control Room, everyone was watching in horror at what they were seeing. Many a monitor had a scene of someone being attacked. Vic walked a little closer to the monitors to observe what he was seeing before he turned and ran for a door. Lila watched him go before following after him.
They both walked out the door to the helipad. Walking to where they had a good view of the chaos, they could hear the sounds and everything coming from the park. Lila looked to Vic and suggested, "Perhaps it might be time to call in those reinforcements of yours."
"Good call." Vic nodded before reaching for his phone. He started dialing as they continued listening to the screeches and screams from the resort.

Down in his hideout, Hawk Moth nearly felt overwhelmed by all the fear coming from the resort. Deciding that they had waited long enough, Hawk Moth said, "I believe that it is time to take advantage of this chaos."
He stretched his hand out and an akuma flew into it. He clenched his hand and the dark energies flooded into the akuma. Hawk Moth opened his hand again and the black butterfly flew from his grasp. He twirled his cane on the ground and said to the tool of his evil, "Fly away, my little akuma. And evilize one of those tortured hearts!"
The akuma flew to the opening and lifted up and out of sight. Not far from the opening, a pair of eyes watched as the akuma flew from the hole. Her eyes narrowed as she had found where the source of whatever caused the creature from earlier to appear.

Back at the park, the Pterosaurs were even attacking the dinosaurs in their pens. One picked a baby Triceratops by the handle on the saddle, but the young dinosaur was a bit too heavy for it so the Pteranodon let it go. Handlers moved to protect them from any other attacks while rescuing any guests lingering.
Over in the T-Rex Kingdom, while some of the Pterosaurs seemed brave enough to attack her, Rexy made short work when she clamped her jaws on one and swatted another with her tail. A Dimorphodon made the grave mistake of landing in a spot just as her foot came down on it.

In an alley way, Owen's ATV pulled in with everyone still aboard. Everyone hopped off and ran for the entrance to the resort ahead. They saw ACU troopers running around with their rifles ready. One of them handed a spare rifle to Owen before they moved to help out with the problem. A man on the PA system said, "All units, take your positions on the boardwalk. Use liquid tranquilizers. Do not fire live ammunition."
"Guys, come on!" Owen shouted as he ran ahead. They all ran together to try and rein in the chaos around them.
Ladybug and Cat Noir moved their weapons to where they knocked a Pterosaur back or off of one of their victims. It was kind of a tough job as they had to constantly move back and forth and the Pterosaurs seemed to try and come back at them.
Over on Main Street, the group ran past the Gentle Giants entrance. From the back, Zeke panted and asked, "Can't we slow down?"
"Are you crazy?" Chloe asked, thinking the man didn't seem to grasp the meaning of running for your life. They moved to a spot that was more open and kept a look out while the other guests stuck to the walls. They had to duck a few times to avoid getting their heads bitten off by the bigger Pterosaurs. Zeke was the only one who didn't and said, "You know, this is a big load of-"
But he didn't get to finish when a Pteranodon grabbed him by the shoulders. The slacker yelled as he was carried off while everyone else watched in horror. The Pteranodon carried him a good distance before another one came and fought for the screaming man. The fight made the first Pteranodon drop Zeke and he screamed as he fell. Luckily, the Pteranodon caught him again. But as the Pteranodon flew over the lagoon, it released the man's feet and he screamed as he fell towards the water. The group of the brothers, French Students and guardians ran to the fence of the lagoon and watched as he landed in the water with a splash. Zeke tried to swim back to the surface, but the Pteranodon's started diving into the water and one came at him and grabbed the man in its beak. The Pteranodon tried carrying him back up to the surface, but the flailing man made it a little difficult as the ancient bird lost its grip a few times. Everyone watched as the screaming man kept getting dunked in the water when Alya noticed something, "Over there! In the water!"
"Whelp, he's a goner." Kim shook his head. It earned him some looks and Alix slapped his arm.
But it turned out to be true as the Pteranodon got a better grip on Zeke by grabbing his shoulders. But the two never got far enough from the water as a shape moved underneath them. The Mosasaur came up with a growl before clamping its jaws on both Zeke and the Pteranodon. The bird gave a squawk of pain before it and Zeke were pulled back under.
Everyone watched in horror from what they had witnessed. And the situation was about to get a whole lot worse.

Author's Note: Good news; we're getting closer to the finale of this story. Bad news; I sure am gonna miss writing it. And like I said, I didn't want to do that to Simon, but I felt that it added to the drama. I do apologize. But maybe in another Jurassic World story, things could go differently. In the next chapter, we have an akumatized villain run rampant and another fight on the side. I am pleased to have thrown in a little reference to the first Jurassic Park movie into this chapter.
