Chapter Eighteen: Attack of Pterrify
The chaos continued around the group after watching what happened to Zeke. Zara then suggested, "Let's find some suitable shelter."
"No arguments here." Everyone agreed. Even the Gorilla agreed with a grunt or two. They started running again for any form of shelter.
Elsewhere, Owen, Ladybug, Claire, Cat Noir and Master Fu ran onto the boardwalk with their weapons at the ready. The two French superheroes watched the employee's backs as they whacked whatever Pterosaur came at them. While Owen and the others with rifles opened fire, Claire climbed onto an over turned snack cart and started screaming, "Zach! Gray!"
"She knows that this isn't the best time for that, right?" Cat Noir questioned as he swatted a Pteranodon away. Ladybug defended the woman by saying, "She's just really worried about them."
"Well, that worry is more than likely gonna make her lose her head." Cat Noir pointed out when he ducked under a swooping dinosaur. Ladybug couldn't disagree with him considering their situation.

In the Control Room, the elevator dinged and the doors opened up again. This time, it was not only Vic and Lila, but a few extra guys that they had called in earlier as well. The guard tried to stop them when they entered the room, "Hey! Hey! You guys can't just be walking up in here."
"I think they are." Lila slyly said as they walked by. The security guard shook his head in annoyance. Lowery, Vivian and a few others looked back as Vic and Lila stood at the back while the other men moved about. Vic spoke to everyone in the room, "Simon Masrani's death was a great tragedy. But now the new mission is to prevent any further loss of life."
"Uh, just who are these guys?" Lowery asked as he watched them move about. Vic pointed to him and nodded, "I'm glad you asked that.
"You're all relieved of duty." Hoskins said to just about everyone else in the room. People were confused as they got up from their chairs and headed for the door. Vic looked Vivian and Lowery and said, "We're gonna need you to keep an eye one the surveillance cameras. Especially the Raptors' cameras."
"Uh, Raptors?" A nervous Lowery asked, not liking this plan. Hoskins then ordered one of the men, "Be sure to help them get it all set up."
"Yes, sir." The man nodded before going to get the equipment. Vic turned to Lila and asked, "Ready to make some history."
"Don't worry, Vic." Lila said to reassure him. Vic smiled and turned around. Lila's grin turned into a sneaky smirk when she said, "I've got your back all the way."
She followed after Vic back to the elevator to get the mission underway.

Pterosaurs continuously fell from the sky when they were hit by a tranquilizer dart. And it seemed to be doing more harm than good as people had to duck when the falling dinosaurs came at them or when a Pterosaur crashed against something. The same was said for the large group of guardians and teens. Zach looked to see a familiar face and pointed, "Aunt Claire! She's over there!"
"Go, go!" Gray urged and they all started running. Owen lowered his weapon to see a Pteranodon coming right at them, even when it had been shot with a dart. Owen shouted to the others, "No! Hold your fi-"
He was suddenly tackled into from behind by a Dimorphodon. Ladybug looked and became worried, "Owen!"
"I've got him." Cat Noir said as he came to the Raptor Trainer's rescue. But he was intercepted when a Pteranodon flew right at him with its beak open wide. Cat Noir defended himself while quickly saying, "I don't got him."
Ladybug groaned in aggravation and was about to help when another Pterosaur came at her.
The group looked behind them and screamed when the sleepy Pteranodon fell towards them. While most were able to get out of the way, Zach and Gray were still in the bird's path as it crashed through just about everything. They jumped forward but had to quickly scoot back as it kept on coming. The beak was aimed right at Gray and Zach moved his arm in front of his brother to protect him. But luckily for them, the unconscious reptile stopped just a few inches short of them.
The others rushed to help them as Alya and Juleka helped the brothers to their feet. Zara then said, "Come on, let's go."
They all got up and started running again. Owen was still struggling with the Dimorphodon on his back. He kept moving to try to keep it from biting him and was able to roll himself over to where he could use his hands better. The Dimorphodon reared itself up before trying to take a bite out of him again. Owen held the snapping creature back as best as he could, and he didn't have to wait long as Claire came to his aid. She picked up the dropped rifle and hit the Dimorphodon with the butt of the gun and made it squeal. She turned the gun around and fired a trio of darts into the reptile. Both of them took a deep breath and Cat Noir nodded, "Nice job there, Claire."
"I'll say." Ladybug agreed while Master Fu helped Owen back to his feet. From the side, Zach asked, "Is that Aunt Claire?"
"I think so." Gray nodded, though he had never seen his aunt like this before. When Owen was back on his feet, she handed him the gun. Owen strapped it on his back before pulling a surprised Claire in for a kiss. This caused a lot of wide eyes in their direction. But Claire didn't seem to fight him off as she placed her hand on his shoulder. No one said or did anything to cause them to break the kiss. The two did it on their own, and when Claire saw her nephews she became overjoyed, "It's them! Zach!
"Gray!" Claire shouted and ran to them and embraced both boys tightly. Tears flowed from her eyes as she was so happy to see that they were alright. Zach and Gray both groaned from the tight squeeze and Claire eased up a bit. She looked between the two and said with a worried yet relieved look, "Oh, thank God! Thank God!
"What happened? What is this?" She asked when she inspected Gray. Making sure that he was fine she asked, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." Gray nodded. Looking to his brother and their friends he said, "We're all fine."
"Where did you all go? And why didn't you come back? I was so worried about the two of you." Claire asked, a little upset that they had gotten into trouble. Zach looked past Claire and asked, "Who's that with Ladybug and Cat Noir?"
Claire looked back to see Owen and the disguised Master Fu with the two heroes. The four walked up to them and Claire said, "We all work together."
Both Ladybug and Cat Noir grinned while Owen just shook his head. Ivan spoke up from the back of the group, "Uh, I think that the situation is going to get a whole lot worse."
"Uh, why?" Chloe asked with a quirked brow. They all looked to him when he pointed up in the sky, "Because of that."
They all looked up and gasped when they became worried. They saw the newly made akuma fluttering through the air. The little butterfly seemed to be able to stay away from any of the flying dinosaurs and was going towards a group of tourists. Claire turned to the two heroes and asked, "Ladybug? Cat Noir?"
"We're on it." They both nodded before rushing forward.
The butterfly continued flapping towards one of the tourists amidst the chaos. When a guest to the park so it coming, the little girl screamed and pointed. The other guests who were with her saw the black butterfly and they too screamed as they knew what it meant. One of the men waved a brochure at it try and make it go away, but it didn't work as the akuma disappeared into the brochure. Ladybug shouted, "No!"
The image of a butterfly appeared over the man's face and he heard Hawk Moth speak to him, "Pterrify, I am Hawk Moth. The chaos around you becoming too much?
"Well, I can give you the power to try and rein it in." The man seemed to grin at the nightmare being over. Hawk Moth then told him, "All I ask in return are Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous."
"Pterrify will make short work of them, Hawk Moth." The man said before a dark aura completely enveloped him.
Everyone watched in horror as the shape grew in size a little and change as well. When the dark aura dissipated, a new supervillain was born. It had the brown, scaly body of a Pterosaur, but had two heads; one of a Pteranodon, and the other of a Dimorphodon. He stretched his arms out and two large wings flapped open. The talons on his feet dug grooves into the sidewalk. Pterrify gave a loud screech that seemed to make everything around him halt. The Pterosaurs that hadn't been hit by a tranquilizer land on the roof and looked to the villain.
With a flap of his mighty wings, Pterrify took to the air and let loose the brochure from his hand. The piece of paper fluttered from his hand and landed on the roof of a building. One of the Pterosaurs looked at the piece of paper before focusing down on the boardwalk.
"Ladybug and Cat Noir!" Pterrify screeched as he flapped in the air. One set of eyes narrowed while the other head said, "Give me your Miraculous right now. Or things will get a whole lot uglier."
"Sorry, Petrify." Cat Noir shrugged. He leaned forward with his chin on his staff when he said, "But no shiny things for you today."
"Heh, good one, Kitty." Ladybug said as she started twirling her yo-yo. The Pterosaur villain just screeched before flying at the two. The two superheroes jumped out of the way. When she landed, Ladybug shouted to everyone, "Get to safety! It's too dangerous to be out here."
"Not that it was much safer to begin with." Cat Noir pointed out as he avoided nearly getting pecked at by the Pteranodon head. With a swing of his staff, he knocked the Pterosaur back a little.
"They're right." Owen agreed. Grabbing Claire's hand he said, "We need to get to safety."
"No one is going anywhere!" Pterrify squawked and it made everyone look to him. The villain looked about the guests before looking to the Pterosaurs. Extending a wing to the guests he commanded, "Do not let them escape. But harm no one."
All the Pterosaurs seemed to comply with this as they leapt from their perches and moved to where they blocked any screaming tourists. Luckily for the group, they managed to get into one of the buildings. Zach looked outside and commented, "This does not feel safe."
"But can we stay here with you anyway?" Gray asked, looking really worried. Claire nodded and looked to her nephews, "Oh, I am never leaving the two of you as long as you live."
"No, no, him." Just about everyone in the room said when they pointed to Owen. Even the Gorilla pointed to Owen. Gray nodded and said, "Yeah, definitely him."
"But the villain doesn't have the akumatized object with him." Juleka muttered, making everyone look to her. Owen looked to her and asked, "What was that, Juleka?"
"She said that the villain doesn't have the object on him." Mylene explained. Rose shook her head, "Without it, Ladybug can't release and purify it."
"I think I saw it land on the building closest to where Pterrify got akumatized." Zara said, trying to remember. Owen didn't think twice when he said, "Well, someone's going to have to go and get it."
"What?" Claire and a few others questioned. Owen then said, "Ladybug and Cat Noir probably didn't see where it landed. Not to mention that they have both Pterrify and the Pterosaurs to contend with."
"Then let's make it a small group." Chloe suggested. The pointed to herself and Owen, "The two of us will try to sneak over to the building to get to the object."
"No way, it's too dangerous for you." Owen shook his head. Chloe looked a little insulted and she said, "Um, hello? You're talking to the one and only Queen Bee here. Next to Ladybug and Cat Noir, I'm one of your best bets of getting us the object."
"Why not me?" Kim questioned. He flexed a bit and said, "I'm the most athletic out of all of us."
"Yeah, in your dreams, Kim." Alix shook her head. Before an argument could break out, Claire said, "Okay, enough of this!
"You two. Stay here." She commanded her nephews when she pointed at them. She grabbed both Owen and Chloe's arm before walking to the back of the building. Everyone could only watch them disappear through a back door.
Outside, both Ladybug and Cat Noir were on the defensive as Pterrify had a few other Pterosaurs try to attack them. They either jumped, ducked or swatted a reptile away while also avoiding Pterrify. Ladybug swung her yo-yo and was able to get it wrap around one of the villain's ankles. But she yelped when she was suddenly yanked off of her feet. Cat Noir planted his stick on the ground before extending it and riding to catch up to his friend and the villain. When he reached them he stretched out his hand and grabbed a hold of Ladybug's ankle. Then quickly maneuvering his body and retracting his stick, he swung and struck a blow to Pterrify's head. The Pterosaur villain screeched in pain and both heroes let go. They started falling back down to Earth and Cat Noir spun his staff really quickly to try and slow his fall.

In his secret hideout, Hawk Moth was able to observe the battle through Pterrify's eyes. He seemed to pleased that his newest villain seemed to be giving the two heroes some trouble. But his joy was cut when he felt tremors above him. The sound of growling made him grow concerned that he may have a problem on his hands. He twisted the knob on his cane and pulled out the blade to ready himself. A large shadow came over the hole and Hawk Moth looked up to see the Indominus Rex looking down at him. She gave a loud growl before walking around the hole. Hawk Moth watched her every move as he was sure that she was up to something. The Indominus Rex seemed to disappear from the hole, but Hawk Moth knew that it didn't mean that she was gone.
Suddenly from behind, he heard something crash and instantly knew that she used the entrance to the shed. Hawk Moth heard her growling as she moved about the corridors of the old power shed. Hawk Moth tried to decide whether to face off against her, or make a run for it. He was no coward in the face of battle, but he wasn't so stupid to face such a foe head on. The sounds of crashing continued as he felt her mixture of negative emotions draw closer. Deciding to make a break for it, Hawk Moth turned and crouched to jump. The Indominus Rex appeared down the corridor and roared when she charged right for him. Time seemed to slow down when Hawk Moth made the leap and narrowly missed a chomp. Thanks to his enhanced abilities, he was able to make the jump off the catwalk. He grabbed on to the side of the hole and looked down. The Indominus looked up to him with a snarl. He returned it with his own glare before hoisting himself out of the hole. The Indominus roared up at him and Hawk Moth said, "Don't worry, I'll play with you soon.
"But for now, you'll just have to be patient." He chuckled and walked away with a maniacal laugh. The Indominus watched him go before turning back down the corridor to get back up to the surface.

Back on Main Street, Ladybug and Cat Noir were still having a tough time dealing with Pterrify. They had landed on the ground but had to jump out of the way when the villain tried divebombing them. Pterrify then screeched for some of the other Pterosaurs to come and help him. A few Pteranodons and Dimorphodons came flying to his aid and one of the Dimorphodons was able to latch onto Cat Noir's back while a Pteranodon grabbed hold of Ladybug's shoulders. Luckily for the two heroes, their costumes were tough enough to avoid being cut into by their talons or teeth as they fought to escape from their grasp.
Owen, Claire and Chloe were carefully making their way across the street as everyone, man and dinosaur included, had their focus on what was happening at the end of the boardwalk. When they made it across, Claire whispered, "Which building was it again?"
"Uh, I can't remember." Chloe quietly groaned in frustration. Owen then suggested, "We need to get to the roofs and start our search for the object."
"And how do we get up there?" Claire asked with her hands on her hips. Owen saw a low enough spot and said, "I'll give the two of you a boost. And I'll hoist myself up after you."
"It's a plan nonetheless." Claire shrugged and she and Chloe followed after Owen.

Shadow Moth was moving away from his former hiding spot when he heard the sound of tremors coming from behind. He had a guess of what was coming when he could feel the negative emotions emanating from her. Hawk Moth readied his cane and swung it. The top of the cane was enough to make the Indominus' jaw veer to the side and he followed with a kick. The blow made the hybrid dinosaur stagger away a little, but it didn't seem to make her stay away for long. She turned and came back with her jaws open wide again. Hawk Moth had to jump out of the way just as the Indominus' jaws snapped shut. But when he landed, the Indominus quickly turned and struck the supervillain with her tail. The blow sent Hawk Moth tumbling and he groaned when he smacked right into a tree. He laughed a little when he sat up, "You have a lot of fire in you."
The Indominus responded with a growl and he rose back onto his feet. Hawk Moth's grin didn't falter when he stood on his feet and slowly started moving that made her move. The two were starting to slowly circle each other. Hawk Moth quirked a brow when he said, "I'm not sure that you can fully understand me. But judging from your emotions; both from the look in your eye and what you emanate from yourself, I can tell that you've been waiting for this kind of day for a long time."
His eyes widened a little when he sensed something deep within all that anger and hatred. There was a feeling that came when one felt like it was all their fault; guilt. Pointing to her he said, "But I can feel that you are troubled by something as well."
He saw that he was registering his words and his grin didn't falter. Hawk Moth continued to play with her by saying, "I doubt it's for all the human lives that you've taken. Oh, no.
"Perhaps it was for someone who seemed a lot closer to you." He guessed, and judging from the anger in her eyes, he knew he was on the right track. Hawk Moth shook his head, "I know not why you did it, but there must be some reason as to why you killed your own sister."
That seemed to do the trick as the Indominus Rex roared at him and charged forward. Hawk Moth quickly turned and started running for a tree. He ran up the trunk and jumped before her jaws could get him. The Indominus Rex ended up crashing into the tree with a bang. Hawk Moth landed on her back before jumping to the ground.
The Indominus turned with a snarl and tried to slash at him with her claws. Hawk Moth blocked the attack with his cane. Thanks to his cane being indestructible, he was able to hold her claws back. But he had to act fast when the Indominus came at him with her jaws open wide. He jumped back while delivering an upward kick. The Indominus' head snapped upwards and she stumbled back.
Hawk Moth knew that he couldn't sit around and deal with her for much longer. The Indominus looked down again to see him coming forward and spinning his cane really fast. When he swung the spinning cane, it seemed to make her back up a bit. Hawk Moth then leapt forward and smacked her really hard with the cane and it sent her crashing to the ground. Hawk Moth took the opportunity to jump to a branch on the nearest tree. He started leaping from branch to branch to get away from the Indominus Rex.
The Indominus picked herself back up and saw the villain getting away. She knew that she could track him by both scent and heat signature. With a roar she followed after him.

By the fence of the lagoon, Ladybug had been knocked back by a back wing strike. Cat Noir came in for a strike, but Pterrify blocked his staff with a wing. When he landed on his own two feet again, Cat Noir said, "Ladybug, I think that it's time for a miracle."
"I was thinking the same thing, Cat Noir." Ladybug nodded. Then throwing her yo-yo up into the air she called for her, "Lucky Charm!"
The magical ladybugs came from the yo-yo before coming together to form; a small hand mirror. She caught it and asked aloud, "A hand mirror? What am I supposed to do with this?"
"Perhaps you can admire yourself in your final moments." Pterrify cackled from both heads. Cat Noir then suggested, "Maybe it's telling you of a much bigger solution."
She looked about for the solution to the problem. She started getting an idea when a red and black pattern appeared over the other guests over the park. She spotted Owen, Claire and Chloe moving through the crowd and the pattern illuminated them for a second. When she looked over her Lucky Charm, the same pattern appeared over it. Ladybug shouted to the guests, "Any reflective surfaces, try to get them to shine on Pterrify and the Pterosaurs. As a distraction."
People started carefully picking up shiny pieces of glass or removing a phone and shone them on the villain and the dinosaurs. The sunlight reflected off the shiny surfaces and seemed to do the trick as Pterrify shrieked from the bright light. Even the Pterosaurs seemed to recoil from the blinding light.
When they had managed to get to the roof, all three ran as fast as they could and began their search for the akumatized object. Chloe turned her head at the right moment and saw the brochure that the man had been using. But she gasped when she saw that it was underneath a Pteranodon's foot. And what made it worse, was that the Pterosaur wasn't even blinded like the rest. Claire looked back and waved for the two to come over, "Over here!"
When they joined her, Chloe pointed to the dark brochure and they immediately saw it. Owen then asked, "Okay, but how exactly are we going to get it?"
"Maybe someone could act out the mating call?" Claire suggested with a shrug. That made both Owen and Chloe look to her with odd looks. She looked to them and noticed the looks that they were giving her. She then asked, "Why are you both staring at me?"
"Does it look like any of us now the mating call of a flying dinosaur?" Chloe asked while gesturing to the three of them, albeit a little too loudly. Both adults shooshed her and she cringed when she realized what she had done.
The Pteranodon started looking their way when Chloe did something crazy. She got up and screamed as she ran at the flying reptile. It comically squawked when she tackled right into it and knocked it off the brochure. Claire and Owen looked to each other and were amazed by the girl's bravery when it counted. The two got up and ran for the brochure. They saw that Chloe was doing her best to keep the Pteranodon back and she looked back to shout, "Hurry up, already!"
"Right." Claire said while Owen picked up the brochure. He walked to the edge of the roof and shouted, "Ladybug!"
The heroine had just dodged another of Pterrify's attacks and looked when she heard Owen call to her. He held up the brochure and Ladybug nodded. Pterrify happened to be able to look and saw that Owen was about to rip it. He shrieked, "No! Stop him!"
But the other Pterosaurs couldn't see anything due to the guests of Jurassic World blinding them with shiny objects. Time seemed to slow down when Pterrify opened his wings and shot towards Owen. Both tooth filled maw and sharp beak were ready to attack just as Owen ripped the brochure in half. And before Pterrify could touch him, Claire came running up and tackling Owen to the side. Pterrify gave one last shriek before the black aura came over him again and he reverted back.
Down on the ground, Ladybug raised her yo-yo and opened it up with a swipe of her finger, "No more evil doings for you little akuma."
She spun her yo-yo behind her and prepared to throw it, "Time to de-evilize!"
Ladybug threw it forward and it caught the akuma in one fell swoop. When the yo-yo came back to her, Ladybug caught it with one hand, "Gotcha!"
With another swipe of her finger, she released the akuma back into the world. She waved to it as it flew off, "Bye-bye little butterfly."
When it was gone, Ladybug quickly got her Lucky Charm back. She tossed the mirror into the air and called out her other power, "Miraculous Ladybug!"
The mirror turned back into magical ladybugs and flew about the place. All the things that had been damaged from the Pterosaur attack and Pterrify's rampage was instantly fixed. They put Chloe, Owen, Claire and the tourist back on the ground. Said tourist had completely turned back into himself and he looked about with a confused look, "What happened?"
"Come over here, you guys." Ladybug waved to Chloe, Claire and Owen. Claire seemed a little surprised at what was going on. But she still followed after Chloe and Owen. The five soon stood in a circle and both heroes raised a fist. While Chloe and Owen instantly knew what that meant, Claire was a little slow but still raised her fist as well. They all bumped their fists together and said, "Pound it."

In the forest, Hawk Moth gasped when he could no longer feel the connection between him and Pterrify anymore. He groaned in aggravation and punched the tree, causing the top to fall to the ground. Hawk Moth clenched a fist and growled, "Ladybug! Cat Noir! I've failed with two akumatized villains.
"But I have at least two more tries." He said and looked to the top of his cane. There were indeed two butterflies inside, waiting to be used for whatever purposes.

Author's Note: Yes, Hawk Moth planned ahead and took at least two akumas with him. It was all part of the plan. We're getting closer to the big battle. And the French Students are all going to be in for a doozy when they hear who's working with Vic. I look forward to reading your reviews.
