A/N: A little of the mystery that I had placed in this story will come to light in this chapter. And the ending will have a bit of horrifying surprise to it.

Chapter Twenty-One: Run For Your Lives

Ladybug, Cat Noir, Owen, Barry and the mercenaries all prepared themselves to fight against the supervillain. Hawk Moth questions them with a smirk, "Do you really think that you'll be able to fend off two different sets of threats?"

"We could ask the same of you." Ladybug said as she started twirling her yo-yo. Hawk Moth didn't lose the smirk as he untwisted the top of his cane and brought out the blade within it. Then with a swift motion, he sliced through the trunk of a tree. Everyone had to quickly move out of the way as it came down. Unfortunately, the tree separated both Ladybug and Cat Noir from Owen and the others. Owen shouted to them, "You guys okay?"

"Yeah, we're fine!" Cat Noir shouted back. But the maniacal laughter from Hawk Moth made him, Owen, Ladybug and Barry look to the end of the tree when the villain moved around the trunk.

"We need to do this smart, Cat Noir." Ladybug said when she got back onto her feet and started spinning her yo-yo. She glanced to him and said, "I hate to admit it, but the two of us are hardly a match against him."

"Then we need to do something that he wouldn't expect." Cat Noir said and readied his staff. Hawk Moth took a menacing step towards the two and taunted, "There's only one way that this will go; either give me your Miraculous, or become dinosaur food for a foolish man's dream."

"You already know the answer to that, Hawk Moth." Ladybug retorted back to him. Looking to her partner she said, "Up into the trees!"

"You got it." Cat Noir nodded with a grin. Both heroes jumped up into the branches and started moving away. Hawk Moth only glared in the direction they were going before jumping up into the trees as well. He followed after them.

Back with Owen and Barry, they looked about to see some of the mercenaries starting to panic. Owen looked about in the air to see if any akumas were flapping about. Though he didn't see anything, the Raptor Trainer said, "Man, I hope we're able to make a sound retreat before this gets too out of hand."

"Do you think that they'll be okay?" Barry asked about Ladybug and Cat Noir. Owen nodded, "We have to have faith in them."

They both jumped out of the way when one of the Velociraptors charged towards them. The Raptor ended up colliding with another of the mercenaries and both trainers ended up getting separated for the time being.

From in the Control Room, Vic watched in horror as everything he was hoping to gain was starting to crash and burn. The hand that held the radio slowly lowered and he didn't answer when he heard the distorted shouting on the radio. The elevator dinged when Lila returned to the Control Room. The sound of screaming stopped her in her tracks and she looked to the monitors to see the carnage taking place. The mercenaries that Vic had brought in were being picked off by the Raptor Squad at every turn.

But it didn't seem to bother Lila as she smirked, thinking that she could turn this to her favor. She just needed the right moment to spring her trap. She looked to Vic as the man suddenly ran out of the room.

Ladybug and Cat Noir kept moving through the trees with Hawk Moth right on his tail. Ladybug didn't look back when she taunted, "I'm surprised that you didn't akumatize anyone during the chaos? You feeling okay?"

"Don't worry about me, Ladybug. I'm perfectly well." Hawk Moth said as he followed them in the branches. Ladybug looked to Cat Noir and said, "Let's loose this tail of ours."

"At your command, Milady." Cat Noir grinned and raised his right hand. He called on his, "Cataclysm!"

He reached down and touched the branch of the tree. Not only did he touch one tree limb, but another was crossed over it and Cat Noir's hand happened to touch it as well. Both tree branches disintegrated and Cat Noir started flipping towards a branch after Ladybug.

But he seemed to fall short when his boot caught another branch. The cat-themed hero cried out as he fell to the ground. It made Ladybug stop and she turned back, "Cat Noir!"

After having been separated from Barry, Owen kept his weapon trained for any dinosaurs that would come at him. He didn't want it to be any of his girls, but he also knew that it was either him or them. The sound of crunching made Owen slowly turn to see something moving in the grass. He saw one of his Velociraptors moving in the tall grass, eating something. The Raptor stood up straight and Owen recognized that it was Charlie.

She cocked her head to him, and the action made Owen lower his weapon. His eyes widened when he saw something in an orange light heading towards Charlie, but they were both surprised when a yelling Cat Noir ended up colliding with Charlie and knocking her out of the way. The rocket that was heading towards them ended up hitting the ground where she had been standing and the resulting explosion sent both Charlie and Cat Noir flying through the air. The two landed closer to Owen in the tall grass and didn't seem to be moving.

"Car Noir!" Owen shouted and raced to help his friend. Charlie shakily rose back up to her feet before squawking in fear and taking off into the forest. Owen watched her go as he moved to help the cat-themed hero back onto his feet. Cat Noir groaned and Owen asked him, "You okay, kid?"

"I think I will be." Cat Noir groggily nodded. They suddenly tensed up when they heard something, no two somethings crash behind them. They looked to see both Ladybug and Hawk Moth on the ground. Only with Ladybug on her back and looking up at Hawk Moth with a glare. She moved to get up, but he quickly pinned her down by planting his foot on her chest.

The sudden beeping on Cat Noir's ring made everyone look to him as he looked down at his Miraculous. Hawk Moth smirked and evilly said, "Time seems to be running out for you, Cat Noir. And I doubt that you'll have enough time or energy to go and recharge your Kwami, either."

"You go. I'll help Ladybug." Owen said and pushed Cat Noir away. Cat Noir didn't want to go, but he knew that he needed to recharge and fast. With a reluctant look he ran off into the forest.

Hawk Moth thought about going after him, but he remembered that he had Ladybug at his mercy. He decided to take her Miraculous before going after Cat Noir's. Looking down at his long-time foe, Hawk Moth said, "It seems that I win this time, Ladybug."

"I couldn't count on it." Owen said and Hawk Moth looked to him. Owen had charged forward and tried swinging the butt of his gun at the villain. But Hawk Moth effortlessly caught it before yanking the weapon out of Owen's hand. The Raptor Trainer moved back when Hawk Moth swung his cane in retaliation. Hawk Moth glared at the man, "You can't really think that you can beat me."

He swung the cane again, but this time Owen grabbed a hold of it. Owen and Hawk Moth struggled for the cane. They went back and forth and Owen gained a little ground when he took a step back. Hawk Moth still fought for the cane as he pulled back. The two went back and forth once or twice with the cane before the villain questioned, "Would you release my cane? What do hope to gain from this ridiculous back and forth nonsense."

"A distraction." Owen said with a grin and Hawk Moth's eyes widened. He looked back to find Ladybug on her feet again and was twirling her yo-yo. A grin formed on her face when she said, "Thanks for your help, Mr. Grady."

"Call me Owen." He playfully corrected with a wink. Ladybug then whipped her yo-yo forward to retrieve Owen's gun. The weapon quickly wrapped around the weapon before she yanked it back to herself. She then handed it back, "I do believe that this is yours."

"Much obliged." Owen said when he took it. He turned his attention back to Hawk Moth and questioned, "Think you can take us both on? I may not be a super hero like them, but I can cause a whole lot of trouble."

"We both can." Ladybug added as they started to move on opposite sides of Hawk Moth. Hawk Moth looked between the two and said, "I wouldn't get too comfortable. After all, Cat Noir is alone out here. And when he transforms back, he'll be defenseless for a few minutes at the most.

"Enough time for one of the predators to attack." He added with a wicked grin.

…

Cat Noir was running through the chaotic jungles looking for somewhere to de-transform. But just about everywhere he heard the sounds of someone being attacked. He soon found a tree that seemed to be far enough from the massacre taking place. Cat Noir quickly said, "Claws In!"

Plagg came out of the ring and Cat Noir's suit disappeared from existence again. Adrien opened up his shirt and became nervous when he took the piece of Camembert out. He handed it to Plagg and said, "Be sure to savor it while you can, Plagg.

"It's our last piece." His words seemed to make Plagg want to cry. But he sucked it up long enough to start eating the cheese. But they were caught off guard when they heard a sudden stomp somewhere in the forest. Plagg nervously looked about as he stammered, "Uh, w-we're alone out here? R-Right?"

"Somewhat." Adrien nervously said as he too was looking around. They were startled when the tree in front of them seemed to be changing color. Adrien and Plagg were greatly worried when they suddenly found themselves in the presence of the Indominus Rex again.

The large predator growled as she fully revealed herself to the boy and the Kwami. Plagg couldn't look away, but whispered to Adrien, "Uh, you might want to run."

"Run where?" Adrien asked a good question. He couldn't go back to the others, not as Adrien and he didn't exactly know where to go since he was so far in the jungle.

The Indominus growled again as she slowly reached a claw towards him. Adrien took a step back to keep out of the hybrid dinosaur's grasp. It seemed to make the Indominus stop for a moment. The large creature observed Adrien for a moment before seeing Plagg floating there. She growled at him and it made the Kwami a little nervous. He glanced to Adrien and said, "I don't think she seems to like me very much.

"But to be fair, I did almost mess up her escape earlier today." The Kwami shrugged with a grin. The Indominus seemed to remember and gave an angry bark. She then started reaching for Adrien again and he shielded himself and abruptly asked aloud, "Man, I really wish why she was so fascinated with me?"

That once again made her stop and she looked at him with narrowed eyes. She curled her claws back while leaving the index-finger out and stabbed it into the ground. Adrien watched in shock, surprise and bewilderment as the Indominus started dragging her finger through the dirt. What she did really stunned Adrien; she was spelling out two letters. When she was finished, the message read: WU.

"What?" Adrien asked, not understanding. Plagg quickly suggested, "I think I've enjoyed my cheese long enough. How about we vamoose now?"

"I'm down with that." Adrien agreed and shouted, "Plagg! Claws Out!"

Plagg immediately flew into the ring and Adrien once again became Cat Noir. The action seemed to anger the Indominus as she charged for him. Cat Noir comically panicked for a second before he jumped into the trees. Meowing like a frightened kitten, Cat Noir quickly made his way back to the others. The Indominus watched him go before turning and heading in a certain direction.

…

Back with the mercenaries, Barry managed to avoid being attacked by the rogue Raptors. He managed to find some cover when he ducked behind a log. He heard one of the mercenaries shout, "To the vehicles now!"

"Fall back!" Another shouted as engines were cranked. He looked to see both the large truck and his ATV being driven away. Barry shook his head and cursed in French. The sound of snarling made him look about before he saw a log he could hide in. Barry ran for it when Blue saw him. She screeched and leapt for the log just as Barry pulled himself inside.

Blue landed on the log and started ripping at it with her claws and teeth while Barry readied his pistol to defend himself. Barry shouted when Blue started getting through the log.

…

Hawk Moth was on the defensive as not only did have to watch out for attacks from Ladybug, but those coming from Owen as well. He barely had any time to duck when something came at his head from behind. Cat Noir's staff nearly touched his head as he ducked down. Hawk Moth moved out of the way before standing up again. Ladybug looked to her partner and asked, "What kept you?"

"Later. Right now, we have a fight to win." Cat Noir said as he prepared himself. Ladybug and Owen prepared themselves as well while Hawk Moth took his own stance. Haw Moth's eyes widened before a smirk grew on his face. He then said, "I wouldn't be too keen on stopping me just yet."

"And why is that?" Owen questioned, not getting what the villain was meaning. Hawk Moth glanced in Barry and Blue's direction and mocked, "Your friend seems like he's about to become a meal himself." He darkly chuckled when he said, "I can sense the feelings of betrayal and fear from here."

"Barry." Owen said, worried that one of his girls would hurt his best friend. Ladybug looked to the Raptor Trainer, "You go help Barry." She turned her sights on her arch-foe, "We'll hold Hawk Moth back."

"Sorry, you guys." Owen quickly offered before running off to help Barry. Cat Noir gave a quick glance to his partner and asked, "You really think that we can do this, Milady?"

"Just have faith in yourself, Cat Noir." Ladybug said and a smirk grew on her face. She saw something behind Hawk Moth and she said, "And it seems that we're not the only one who sees Hawk Moth as a threat."

"Huh?" Hawk Moth questioned when something suddenly tackled him from behind. Two of the Velociraptors tried tearing at the villain while holder of the Butterfly Miraculous struggled to get them off of him. Echo and Delta screeched when Hawk Moth was able to throw them from his person. The two Raptors crashed to the ground and looked to the villain with glares.

Hawk Moth looked between both heroes and both Raptors, knowing that he couldn't take on all four of them at once. He decided to retreat for the time being. He jumped up into the trees again before making his escape. Ladybug, Cat Noir, Echo and Delta watched him go before the two Velociraptors looked to the two with a snarl. The two heroes expressions fell when Cat Noir remembered, "Oh, right. They're with the Indominus now."

"I think it best if we…" Ladybug started to say. She quickly and comically ran away when she shouted, "Run!"

"Wait for me!" Cat Noir shouted as he ran to catch up with her. Echo and Delta screeched and chased after the two heroes.

…

Owen managed to make it back to his motorcycle, because unlike Barry he didn't leave the keys in his vehicle. He cranked it when he suddenly heard Barry shout, "No!"

In the log, Barry was trying to keep himself from being chomped on when Blue tried forcing her jaws into the log. Barry tried shouting one of the four names,
"No! Blue, stop it!"

It seemed to make the Velociraptor stop in her attempts to open the log. Blue looked down into the hole she made and Barry smiled when it seemed that he may have reached her.

Owen revved his bike again to try and draw Blue's attention away from the log. Then he gave a whistle before driving off. Blue screeched and chased after her former Alpha. In the log, Barry gave a relieved sigh when it was over. He waited a moment before trying to crawl out of the log.

Back at the medical truck, Claire was so horrified to what she had just witnessed. She was snapped out of her thoughts when she heard Gray ask, "Is everybody dead?"

She looked back to see that the window had been opened again. Claire turned off the tablet and said, "No, no, no. Everyone over there is fine."

"Right, like the screams of agony are the exact definition of fine." Alya sarcastically said. Zach was in agreement with her when he said, "Don' lie to him."

"Well, to be fair, he and I are both scared so maybe we need a little comfort." Nino said in defense of Claire. She nodded and said, "Yes, it's okay to lie when people are scared."

"No, that's when you try to reassure people that they're gonna be okay." Alya argued. Chloe shrugged when she added, "Probably."

"Chloe!" Alya, Nino and Zach shouted at her. Gray seemed really scared when he said, "I wanna go home."

"Oh, Sweetheart, you will, okay?" Claire said as she put a comforting hand on the boy's shoulder. She nodded, "I promise that you will.

"Tomorrow you both will be home, and then your mother will never let me see either of you ever again." Claire said and tears were starting to form. They all jumped when something hit the glass. All six screamed when they saw a bloody hand pressed up against the window. It was one of the mercenaries that Vic had brought to the island. The man looked absolutely terrified and badly wounded. He frantically shouted, "Get out of here! Go!"

Claire started up the truck and Chloe quickly squeezed through the window. Alya looked to her and questioned, "What are you doing?"

"Shows over. I can sit up here again." Chloe responded before sitting down in the seat. Claire then said, "Everyone, hang on to something!"

In the back the other four turned as the injured mercenary threw open the door. He shouted, "They're coming!"

The four screamed when they saw one of the rogue Raptors come in from behind and pounced on the man. The man cried out in pain as the Velociraptor known as Delta bit into him. From the front, Claire put the pedal to the metal when she stepped on the gas. The abrupt movement caused both Delta and the screaming man to fall out of the back of the truck. The four watched in horror as Delta continued to attack the man.

"Just hold on back there!" Claire shouted when she tapped the side of the window. Alya looked to her and questioned, "Hold on to what, exactly?"

Suddenly, Echo came in from the side and her head busted through the window. Both Claire and Chloe started screaming in fear of the Raptor head. Claire did her best to continue driving, but it was hard with a Velociraptor trying to take a bite out of her. Chloe raised a foot and started kicking Echo in the snout. The kicks seemed to work as Echo's head backed up a bit. With one last good kick, Chloe knocked Echo off the truck and the Velociraptor fell onto the road. Echo shakily rose up to her feet when Delta ran by her towards the truck. Nino was the first to see her running up to them. He pointed and shouted, "Incoming!"

"We need something to defend ourselves with." Aly said and the four started looking about for a weapon. She saw some electro-prods and took a few. She handed on to each of the boys and Gray said, "We got another one."

They looked to see Echo joining Delta. Zach got an idea and handed his prod to Gray. Carefully moving to one of the canisters standing against the wall of the truck, Zach easily brought it down before shoving it out the door. It seemed to make the two Raptor sisters swerve out of the way to avoid being hit, but they kept on coming after the truck as a large cloud erupted behind them.

The Raptors screeched as they continued chasing after the truck. Claire looked to the rearview mirror and saw one of them trying to come up on the side. She knew that Owen may be a little sore from her doing this, but Claire also knew that she didn't have much of a choice. She made the truck get a little closer and the Raptor wasn't able to avoid colliding with a tree. Chloe looked to Claire and said, "Nice one."

"Thanks, but we're not out of the woods yet." Claire said as she turned her attention back on the road.

From behind, the other Velociraptor kept on coming and the four readied the prods. But they suddenly realized that they didn't know how they worked. Gray looked to the other three and asked, "How do we turn them on?"

"I don't know!" Nino shook his head as he fiddled with it. The Velociraptor waited a moment as the doors of the truck swung before leaping at them. She seemed to fall a little short as the Raptor tried clinging onto the floor of the back. Gray pushed the right button and they all were surprised to see the prod turn on. Electricity flowed to the end just as the Raptor tried snapping at them. Gray and Zach held the activated prod and lunged forward with it. The prod touched the Raptor's chest and she spasmed a bit before falling out. The Raptor tumbled along the ground and lost her head gear in the process.

They all jumped when they heard something land on top of the roof. Nino then asked, "Uh, Velociraptors can't jump that high from the ground, right?"

"I don't think so." Gray shook his head. Suddenly something pierced the top of the truck and a figure swung into the back. Everyone gasped when they were in the presence of Hawk Moth.

"Ah, children. Such a delight." He mockingly said and took a step forward. The four tried to prepare their own electro-prods and Nino warned those up front, "Uh, we have a situation back here, guys."

"Like what?" Chloe questioned before looking through the window. Her eyes widened when she saw what Nino was talking about, "Oh."

"Turn on the others." Zach said as he moved between Hawk Moth and the others. Hawk Moth gave the teen a questioning grin and said, "Do you really think that you'll be a match for me?"

"If two other teenagers can do it, why can't I?" Zach shrugged before giving a playful smirk. That made Hawk Moth angry and he held his cane at the ready. The two started swinging their weapons back and forth at each other. Hawk Moth gained the upper hand fairly quickly as he was able to knock Zach's prod from his hands. With a push from the end of his cane where he kept the akumas, Hawk Moth made Zach fall to the floor. Gray rushed forward and wrapped his arms around his brother as if to protect him. Hawk Moth then laughed, "Who will come to your rescue now?"

"Ladybug, Cat Noir and Owen." Zach defiantly said. They were all surprised when a feminine voice said from behind, "Well, you're definitely right about that."

Before Hawk Moth could look back, Ladybug's yo-yo wrapped around his arms to keep him still before yanking him back. Hawk Moth tried to steady himself, but Cat Noir's staff came rolling in from behind and it tripped the villain up. He screamed as he fell out of the truck while Ladybug and Cat Noir both jumped in.

They turned to look back just as Hawk Moth stopped tumbling on the ground. The villain growled as he rose back onto his feet, but the sound of a motorcycle made him look back. He gasped as Owen's bike came at him and he quickly moved out of the way. Hawk Moth watched as the group pulled away. He became agitated when Ladybug, Cat Noir and the other teens waved to him from the back of the truck.

In the driver's seat, Claire glanced back and asked, "Are you all okay back there?"

"Did you see any of that?" Zach said with a grin on his face. Gray was equally excited when he said, "I can't wait to tell Mom that we fought a supervillain!"

"Oh, please, no." Claire said, becoming worried about what her sister would think about that. She didn't want any word of what her nephew's went through that day to be told to their mother, "Do not tell you mother about any of this. Ever."

"I think she's gonna find out about it even if they don't." Chloe said and crossed her arms. Claire could only give the heiress an unamused look when she heard Owen pull up next to them. He shouted to her, "We need to get everyone inside. Follow me."

Claire nodded and Owen went faster on his motorcycle. Pulling out her phone, Claire dialed for the Control Room. When it went through, she ordered, "Lowery, we're headed back your way. I need you to call in a chopper."

"On it." Lowery replied before she hung up. Both vehicles continued down the road and passed one of the many signs of Jurassic World.

Back with Hawk Moth, the villain had gotten back onto this feet when he heard the sound of screeching behind. He glanced back and saw the four Velociraptors coming towards him. Not wanting to deal with them, Hawk Moth quickly jumped into the trees and headed back to the park.

The Raptor Squad slowed down when they saw the villain disappear. They looked between the fleeing man and the fleeing vehicles. They were trying to decide who to go after when they heard the calls from their new Alpha. All four Raptors screeched before veering to the right and disappearing into the brush.

Unbeknownst by any of them, the akuma had been flapping about. The little butterfly soon rose above the trees and made its way back to Jurassic World.

Author's Note: And I think I'll end it here. The next chapter we return to the resort and witness a betrayal. And it causes a bit of an upset before the final battle. And yes, I plan for the Raptor Squad to make it through. Not just Blue, I kind of feel like this was a bit of an injustice to the girls. After all, I kind of wish that Charlie hadn't been killed off like that. I look forward to reading your reviews.
