Rustling of leaves underfoot, the brushing of grass. The mysterious individual crept as quietly and stealthily as they could, approaching an idle Stantler. Hiding behind a tree, the figure carefully peered past the tall, rooted organism, getting a clear sight at the Pokémon through their horned, dark mask covering their entire face.
"Target acquired," it said, with a demonic, monotone voice, and took another step forward. The figure continued to proceed with caution...
Twigs make different sounds when broken underfoot. Some barely make a noise, while others snap loudly, and a misstep might alert something nearby to its imminent danger.
This was a loud one, and the forest echoed the SNAP! throughout its branches. The Stantler whipped its head to the side, spotting something behind it, something nearby.
Something in a mask.
The deer-like Pokémon sensed danger and fled. The masked figure cursed themselves.
"Blast! It got away!" it growled.
Angered by their failure to accomplish the task, the masked figure kicked a nearby rock, where it ricocheted off another tree and back into a large bush. A large, growling noise rang out. Then, from behind the figure, a huge, bear-like shadow loomed above them. The masked individual spun and saw the massive beast staring down at them, teeth bared, with a lump on its head, and fire in its eyes.
The rock had accidentally hit, and awakened...an Ursaring.
"...just my luck," the figure groaned.
Raising an arm, the Ursaring swung its curved, wicked and vicious claws at the masked figure. Like a ninja, the individual dodged the attack and backed away from the bear Pokémon as it made continuous swipes at the anonymous threat, wanting to get retribution from being struck on the head.
Even with speed and flexibility, the masked human couldn't seem to get away from the Ursaring's fury.
"Grr, this beast just won't let up," it growled.
Once it got a safe distance away from the ferocious Pokémon, the individual began thinking of a better approach to their current predicament. As they had one idea in mind, the figure felt multiple spherical objects in their pockets. Drawing one out, the masked human held a crystal ball in their palm. At that moment, their main objective became clear once more.
The demon-voice recounted the words given to them, in a near-whisper.
"Fetch. Me. Power."
The Ursaring's eyesight moved frantically, wanting to know where its target had disappeared to. Soon, the threat in a mask stepped into the light. It gestured, in an inviting, arms-outward stance, for the Pokémon to attack with full force.
"Come at me," it said, deeply.
With a snarl, the Ursaring bolted toward the masked threat, with wrathful intent. But, the anger blinded it from the thought that it could be a trap. The figure held a crystal ball in its hand, where a chuckle rang from underneath the horned mask.
"Wrong choice..." the anonymous human proclaimed.
Thrusting an arm forward, with a crystal ball still held, the anonymous figure blasted a beam of light at the Ursaring. What seemed to be particles of shadow surrounded the Pokémon, engulfing its entire body in darkness. Then, something red began to head straight for the crystal ball in the figure's hand. A stream of energy was being sucked into the clear, glassy, sphere. Before long, the crystal ball appeared to be filled to capacity of the red energy. However, the figure continued draining, until it said it was enough. Soon, the beam retracted, and the shadow dissipated from the Ursaring's body. It fell to its knees, out of breath and in pain. Taking one last look at its attacker, the Pokémon flopped onto the earth beneath. It groaned.
"Oops..." the masked individual said, unsympathetically.
The figure turned to leave, but not before taking a glance at the crystal ball containing the Ursaring's power and energy.
Then, a whispering voice spoke in the masked human's mind.
'Perfect.'
Uh-oh...I don't think we've seen the last of that...um...person.
