Chapter Two: Comforting Confessions
He heard Remus and Sirius come upstairs an hour later and the doors click shut to their respective rooms
Before he could chicken out, his feet padded down the hall towards Sirius' bedroom, before he watched his hand reach out and open the door slightly
"Harry" he heard Sirius say in surprise from the bed
"Are you okay?" his godfather asked jumping up to inspect him
Harry's Gryffindor courage seemed too fail him as he stood there, still in shock of how much this man cared for him
"Can I stay here?" he eventually managed
"Of course" Sirius said leading him to the bed and climbing in, holding up the sheets for Harry
Harry hesitated for a second, but then scooted right up to Sirius, cuddling into his embrace and he felt Sirius let out a breath as arms came around him and he felt his godfather….his father….Harry let his mind think, place a kiss on his forehead before laying down
Harry knew Sirius must have thought he was asleep by now because he gave him another kiss before a soft murmured "I love you pup" entered his ear
Harry's heart soared as the words were uttered to him for the first time he could remember
"I love you too…dad" Harry said and felt Sirius stiffen before pulling Harry to him and hugging him with all his might
Harry awoke feeling happy for the first time in months…maybe even over a year. No nightmares, no screeching Aunt Petunia. And most of all, he felt loved.
He felt a smile creep across his face as he saw his…his father's mouth opened slightly, drool creeping out as he snored slightly
As if sensing someone staring at him his godfather blinked sleepily, rubbing his eyes as he unconsciously pulled Harry closer
"Hi" Harry said nervously, still amazed that one man could love him so much
"It wasn't a dream" Sirius breathed reverently as he tugged Harry to him again, as Harry revelled in the affection.
"I umm I have to tell you something' Harry said guiltily
"Okay" Sirius said, kissing this son's head
"I umm I was awake when you and Remus were talking about me" he felt Sirius tighten his hold
"Oh" Sirius said looking at Harry "I umm
"—I'm really glad I heard, I thought I was a burden to you" Harry blurted out looking down
"A burden…Harry sweetheart no" Sirius said hugging him closer
"Can you umm…can we do the adoption" Harry asked tentatively, blushing when Sirius' eyes filled to the brim
"Of course we can" Sirius choked out, "we'll get Remus to witness it today if you'd like" Sirius said and Harry was happy to notice that there was a happy look in his eyes - he looked more like the man that Harry had seen standing beside his father at his parents wedding.
"Do you think he'd like to be called Uncle Moony?" Harry said whispered, looking up at Sirius
"I think he'd love that more than anything in the world" Sirius confirmed, smiling at his son
"Sirius…wake up I—" Remus stopped short, seeing Harry in his friends embrace
"Sorry, didn't realise…Remus said unsure a he turned to back out
"Uncle Moony, will you please stay" Harry called out into the hallway and managed to see Remus' look of shock
"C'mon ya great wolf' Sirius teased him as Remus climbed into the other side of the bed and Harry felt himself squashed between the two men
Harry decided to continue with the things he'd heard last night
"And I don't care how much you stand up to Mrs Weasley" Harry told this godfather, grateful to get all his feelings off his chest "It's your house and I'm yours and you're my family...she's been very kind to me, but she bullies her own children and she's my best friends mum, not mine" Harry said firmly and smiled at the look of relief that swept across Sirius' face.
"So you told him?" Remus asked
"No I umm I overheard" Harry admitted sheepishly
"Sneaky sneaky little prongslet, hmmm Moony" Sirius teased
"Indeed' Remus smiled
