A/N: Hello, everyone. Sorry to keep you hanging again. I wanted to do this chapter justice because this is what I imagine most of us want to happen on the show. I hope this gives you all the feels, and it was worth the long wait to get here finally.

Chapter 51 – Miracles Do Come True

Campsite – 12:00 pm

Lee, Patrick, and Isaac pack up their campsite and are on their way back home. Patrick had been very clingy to Lee the entire time, not wanting to leave his side for anything. Lee is about to ask Patrick if something else is bothering him when Isaac inquires, "Patrick, what's your favorite constellation from last night?"

Patrick answers, "Um…I like Polaris and the Big and Little Dippers."

"Why those?"

"Those are the first ones Mama mentioned to me. Do you remember, Papa?"

Lee chuckles, responding, "I do remember."

"Mama told me you taught her about the stars, Pépé."

"I did. Rosie loved learning about the night sky, and she and I would go out and stargaze whenever we had the chance."

Patrick looks down and opens the case hooked to his belt, shouting, "Stop!"

"What's wrong, Patrick?"

"It's not in the case."

"What's not in the case?"

"Mama's binoculars."

Isaac questions, "The pair from last night? What is so special about them?"

"Those are the ones you gave Mama when she was a child. I cannot lose them. She told me how special they were to you and her, and she wanted them to be something special between her and me." He glances up at Lee, revealing, "Mama gave them to me the night before we left. She told me it would be our secret. Did you know, Papa?"

"No, Mama never told me. I didn't even realize she had a pair of binoculars."

"Mama told me she forgot she had them. She only found them the other day when cleaning your room."

Lee thinks about it for a few moments, inquiring, "Where did you last see them, Patrick?"

"While you and Pépé were packing up the horses, I used them to look around. But I thought I put them in the case when you told me it was time to go. Papa! We have to find them! Mama will be so disappointed if I lose them."

"Mama would never be disappointed in you. Sad maybe, but never disappointed." Patrick sniffles and wipes his tears with his sleeve.

Isaac suggests, "Why don't we go back to the campsite, and if they aren't there, we can retrace our route back here."

"Sound like a good idea. Let's go."

Coulter Home – 2:00 pm

Rosalind and Rosemary pull up in front of the house, and Rosemary breathes through another contraction, yelling at her mother, "Please get Lee and tell him to come out here."

"As you wish, my darling," remarks Rosalind as she runs inside. The downstairs is empty, so she checks upstairs, yelling Lee, Isaac, and Patrick's names, but no one answers. As Rosalind runs outside, she mumbles, "Why in the world aren't they back yet." She gets to the car and opens Rosemary's door, announcing, "They aren't here."

Rosemary shrieks, "What do you mean they aren't here. Where can they possibly be?"

"I checked the whole house, and only Laika and Nanny are there."

The pain comes on again, and it's stronger than before. Rosemary groans until it's over, mentioning, "I need to get up, Mother. I can't sit here anymore."

"Are you sure you should be walking right now?"

"I'm not sure. Just help me, please." Rosalind helps her get out of the car, and Rosemary leans on her as they walk toward the field. However, after a few minutes, Rosemary decides to turn back around, and Rosalind insists on them either driving to the infirmary or going up to Lee and Rosemary's room. "I am not getting back into the car, and this baby is not being born until my husband is here!" she exclaims loudly. Next door, Elizabeth is pouring some tea when she thinks she hears Rosemary outside, so she peeks out the window to see if everything is okay. When Elizabeth steps out the door, she first sees Rosemary waddling very slowly in her direction, clutching her stomach, and hanging on to Rosalind.

Elizabeth calls out, "Rosemary!"

Rosemary hollers back, "Elizabeth! Oh, thank goodness."

"Are you in labor, Rosemary?"

"Of course, I am, Elizabeth. What else can this be?" Elizabeth rolls her eyes at her friend, and Rosemary's face falls, screeching, "At least I think so. What do I do, Elizabeth?"

"Are the guys back yet?"

"No," replies Rosemary sullenly.

"Well, the first thing we are going to do is call Faith. Do you feel like you need to lay down?" questions Elizabeth.

"No, I would rather stand or walk."

"Alright, I will go call Faith. Rosalind, keep supporting her." Rosemary and Rosalind look at her with the same worried expression and nod. Elizabeth runs inside the Coulter home to call Faith and comes back, saying, "Faith is on her way."

"Thanks, Elizabeth."

"Now, when were the guys expected back?"

"Lee said after lunchtime, so they should already be here."

"I'll call Florence again to see if she's seen them in town," states Elizabeth as she jogs to the Coulter home and back a minute later. "Florence has not seen them, but she'll tell them to come home right away if she does. Do you know where they were camping?"

Rosemary can't answer right away because of the pain, so Elizabeth gets her attention, reminding her to breathe. Then Elizabeth walks over to the other side of Rosemary, providing her with some more support. Rosemary reveals, "Lee said they'll camp out an hour past Albert Falls. On his last trip out there, he had found a pristine area where the river forms a horseshoe. He thought it would be the ideal camping spot."

Then suddenly, Faith jogs up behind them, takes one look at Rosemary, and immediately recognizes this is the real deal. She is in labor, and there is no stopping it now. Faith suggests, "Why don't we get you upstairs so I can examine you. Where is Lee?"

Elizabeth chimed in, "They have not gotten back from camping yet." Faith acknowledges.

"Are you sure you don't want her at the infirmary?" inquires Rosalind.

Faith glances at Rosemary and answers, "I think it will be better to stay here at this point." Rosemary appears relieved, trying to hold in her emotions and not show the ladies how scared she is inside. "Why don't we get you upstairs while you can still walk."

Rosemary hesitantly responds, "Okay, Faith." Elizabeth and Faith take over for Rosalind and help Rosemary hobble up the stairs and into her room. Rosalind and Elizabeth help her change into a nightgown, and Faith gets the bed ready. After another contraction, they help Rosemary get into bed and prop her up with pillows, helping her get as comfortable as possible. Then Faith asks Elizabeth and Rosalind to leave so she can question Rosemary and examine her properly. After she finishes, Faith calls them back into the room.

"Rosemary, I hope you are ready to meet Baby Coulter because you are in labor this time."

Elizabeth inquires, "How much time?"

"She's about halfway, but there is still time for Lee to get back."

Rosemary is relieved until another contraction builds, and she shrieks, "Find, Lee!" at the peak of the pain.

Elizabeth excuses herself, pads down the stairs, and pushes down on the switch hook. She has Florence connect her to Nathan, and she frantically tells him about Rosemary. Nathan questions, "Does Rosemary know where they went?"

"Rosemary thinks they were on the trail to Albert Falls but farther up. Do you think you can search for them and let them know?"

"How much time do you think we have? I cannot imagine Lee being gone much longer."

"There is no way to predict, but can you please go out and look for them? Rosemary and Lee will both be heartbroken if Lee misses the birth of their child."

"Of course. I'll see if I can get Bill, Joseph, Lucas, and whomever else is free. We will find them in no time," replies Nathan.

"Thanks, honey."

"I'll see you later. I love you."

"Love you, too," replies Elizabeth as she hangs up the phone and walks back up the stairs and into Rosemary's room. Rosemary is massaging her belly and quietly singing to her baby, who will be here sooner than later. Elizabeth thinks to herself, "Hopefully, Nathan and I will get to experience this in the near future, bringing our own child into the world."

Campsite – 3:00 pm

Lee, Isaac, and Patrick are at the campsite after a two-hour ride back. Lee questions, "Where were you last, Patrick?" Patrick points over by the stream, and they all head in that direction. Patrick is the first to get there, and he looks around frantically. He tries holding in his tears, saying, "I thought they would be here, Papa. Where are they?"

"Don't worry, Patrick. We will find them." Patrick runs into Lee's arms, and Lee lets him cry for a few moments before suggesting they keep on looking.

Isaac mentions, "Let's split up and search in a different spot."

Patrick grabs Lee's arm, whining, "I want to stay with you, Papa." Lee glances down at his son and ensures him, "Okay, that's fine." Isaac offers to take the firepit and tent area while Lee and Patrick continue along the stream.

"Patrick, are you sure you were over here? Do you remember what you saw last?"

Patrick thinks about it and suddenly remembers, "I was watching the stream over there, and I thought I saw an animal." Lee follows Patrick as he walks in that direction, and they both see the binoculars simultaneously. They were sitting on top of a large flat rock.

Coulter Home – 4:00 pm

Rosalind keeps Rosemary company while Faith and Elizabeth are downstairs with Allie and Jack. Rosalind sits next to her daughter, taking her hand and offering encouragement, "I know you are in a lot of pain right now, and this will be the hardest thing you will ever do, but you are capable and strong enough to handle this. Once he or she is in your arms, I guarantee you will forget about all the pain and discomfort."

"Thanks, Mother."

"Do you want me to get you anything?"

"Can you get Lee for me?"

"I wish I could, honey."

"I will have some stern words for him when he –" Rosemary stops and squeezes her mother's hand until the pain subsides. "They are getting closer together. Do you think he'll make it in time?"

Rosalind re-wets a cloth and places it on her forehead. "He'll be here. Don't worry."

"How can you be so sure?" asks an exasperated Rosemary.

"I have a feeling."

"A feeling?"

Campsite – 3:30 pm

Patrick inquires, "I'm hungry, Papa. Can we eat something?"

"Didn't we eat a couple of hours ago?"

"We did, but I am hungry again. Didn't Mama pack us some of her sugar cookies?"

Lee looks at the time and does the math in his head, explaining, "If we leave now, we should be home no later than 6:45 pm. Does that sound right, Isaac?"

"I think you are. What time did Rosie expect us to be home?"

"After lunch."

"Do you think she'll be worried we are late?"

"She's probably busy and doesn't even notice we are late. Besides, there is nothing to worry about right now. It's not her time yet."

Isaac laughs, mentioning, "If there is one thing I have learned, babies, come on their own time."

"Are you saying today is the day?" inquires Lee in a panic.

"No, I just mean there is no such thing as her time. The baby will come when they are ready, whether it's the right time or not."

Lee chuckles, revealing, "We had a nice talk before I left, and I don't think she is coming today, but I agree, we need to get back." Lee grabs the cookies from his bag, telling Patrick, "You can have some on the way." Patrick nods, and Lee lifts him on Charlie and joins him. Isaac climbs on Sergeant, who they borrowed from Elizabeth, and they head home.

Near Albert Falls – 6:15 pm

Nathan, Bill, Joseph, Lucas, and Jesse ride out to search for Lee. Nathan had everyone split up and take a different path to Albert Falls, instructing, "Whoever finds Lee first, send out a signal that you found them, and let him know about Rosemary." Finally, after a couple of hours on his own, Nathan thinks he hears some talking in the distance. He turns Newton around and stops him so he can listen. Thankfully, Nathan hears the voice again, which he now believes is Patrick. He speeds up a bit, hoping to catch up with whoever is talking, and there they are.

Lee is shocked to see him, asking, "What are you doing out here, Nathan?"

Nathan answers, "It's Rosemary. She is in labor. You are needed right away." Lee looks down at Patrick and his father-in-law and back at Nathan.

"She is in labor, now?" inquires Lee. Nathan nods his head and watches the panic across Lee's face. "I need to go…" Lee glances down at Patrick again and says, "Hey, buddy, I need to get home to Mama. Do you think you can ride back with Pépé?"

"But Papa, I want to stay with you."

"I want you to stay with me too, but I need to ride as fast as possible, and I don't want to scare you."

"Papa, I won't be scared. I promise."

Isaac chimes in, inquiring, "Can you keep me company, Patrick? I am tired of riding by myself." Patrick looks at his father and grandfather, deciding he can stay with Isaac.

Lee mouths, "Thank you," to his father-in-law and helps Patrick get up on Isaac's horse. "I love you, buddy. I'll see you soon," remarks Lee as he and Charlie race home.

Coulter Home – 7:00 pm

Faith enters Rosemary's room to check on her progress, and Rosalind shows herself out, going downstairs to talk to Elizabeth. Faith questions, "How are you holding up?"

"How am I holding up, Faith? Well, let's see, every three to four minutes, I have intense pain, I am hot, tired, hungry, and the person I need most is not here. Tell me. How would you be holding up?" Rosemary takes some deep breaths through the pain. "I'm sorry, Faith. I realize you are only trying to help."

"Don't worry, Rosemary. I understand." Faith washes her hands, questioning, "Do you mind if I recheck you?" Rosemary nods in agreement as Faith performs a quick examination. "You are progressing nicely, but you still have some time for Lee to get here."

"Thanks, Faith."

Meanwhile, Rosalind sits next to Elizabeth on the settee downstairs and reaches for her hand. "You probably are aware of this already, but I knew Jack from when he was a little kid. Jack was always the one helping and protecting others. If someone were picking on his brother, Rosemary, or another friend, he would stand up to the bully, ensuring they stop. Jack also adored his father, and as you can imagine, it affected him greatly when he died. He felt like he needed to be worthy of his father, follow in his footsteps, and make him proud. So, becoming a Mountie was ingrained in his mind. Nothing could keep him from pursuing his calling." Elizabeth wipes a tear from her cheek, and Rosalind apologizes, "I'm sorry I made you cry, dear. I just thought you would want to know. Oh, and one other thing. Gathering from Rosemary's letters through the years, Jack loved you very much. He would be happy you found love again with Nathan and were able to give his son an earthly father. And if Jack's son turns out to be anything like his father, which I suspect he will, he'll be an excellent man."

Elizabeth says, "Thank you. Hearing such kind words from someone who had known him for many years means a lot to me. In any case, Nathan and I plan on keeping Jack's memory alive, so little Jack might feel like he knew his father, even though he never got to meet him."

Rosalind hugs Elizabeth, offering, "I think that is a marvelous plan."

Suddenly Lee races in the front door, immediately asking, "Am I too late? Where is Rosie?"

Faith replies, "She's…" as Lee runs up the stairs to their bedroom before Faith finishes her sentence. He rushes into the room and sees Rosemary grimacing, holding her belly.

Rosemary sees Lee, relief instantly crossing her face and a tear rolling down her cheek. He sits by her side, and she pulls him in for a much-needed hug, scolding him, "Where have you been, Lee Coulter? You are hours late, and I have needed you here." Elizabeth excuses herself, allowing the couple time to themselves. "I thought I would have to give birth without you," Rosemary remarks as she hugs him again, sobbing into his shoulder.

Lee kisses her deeply, responding, "Sweetheart, I am sorry I haven't been here. We had a small incident with Patrick losing something important, and we had to go back to find it. Plus, I thought I knew a shortcut, but I got us lost for a while. Fortunately, Nathan found us and told me you were in labor, so I raced here as fast as possible."

"Oh, Lee. It hurts so bad, way more than I expected."

"How long has it been going on?"

"I started having contractions on our way home from Benson Hills. I had to teach my mother to drive because I couldn't do it anymore. It was way too painful. And when we got home, no one was there. I didn't know what to do, I tried hard not to panic, but I was so scared, Lee."

"I am so sorry, but I am here now, and I won't go anywhere until you want me to leave."

Rosemary embraces him, revealing, "I don't want you to leave my side. I don't want to do this without you."

"You won't have to," replies Lee as he throws his shoes off and climbs in bed behind Rosemary. He wraps his arms around her, massaging circles around her belly. Rosemary melts into her husband, looking up at Lee, whispering, "You stink, honey. You smell like horse and fish and whatever else you did." Rosemary and Lee both giggle.

Lee smells himself and agrees, "You're right. Here, let me freshen up," as he tries to get up.

Rosemary grips his hands, saying, "Wait, don't go." Lee kisses her temple, and she leans on him through the pain. As soon as it's over, she inquires, "Where are Patrick and my father?"

"I left them with Nathan, so they should be back fairly soon."

Rosemary pats Lee's cheek and orders him, "Now, go change your clothes and get rid of that horrible smell." Lee smirks at her and jumps out of bed, kissing his wife and their unborn child. He shuts their bedroom door and heads to their closet, where he sees a basket filled with things he has not seen before.

"What is all this, Rosie?" inquires Lee as he pulls out a pair of plaid pants, which matches the ones Laika destroyed. He turns to Rosemary, showing her the pants, questioning, "Where did you get these?"

Rosemary laughs and then winces. "I forgot about those. I found them earlier today in Benson Hills. Although, I'm not sure how they made it up here. Everything has been a blur since we got home. I haven't been able to think about anything but the baby, you, Patrick, and the continuously increasing discomfort."

"Thank you, honey. I never thought we would find an exact match to my pants, but here you found them, right before going into labor."

"Please don't let Laika get to these," remarks Rosemary sarcastically.

"I won't," mentions Lee with a chuckle.

Coulter Home – 8:00 pm

Nathan, Isaac, and Patrick finally burst through the door, and Isaac is the first to ask, "How is she?"

Elizabeth replies, "There's no grandchild yet, so she's doing as well as expected."

Patrick tentatively questions, "Can I see my Mama, Aunt Elizabeth?"

"Of course, Patrick. I'll take you up there."

Isaac offers, "You stay here, Elizabeth. I can bring Patrick up there." Elizabeth nods in understanding. "Let's go, Patrick," suggests Isaac as Patrick grabs his hand, and they go upstairs, knocking on Lee and Rosemary's door.

Lee answers, "Who is it?"

Isaac responds, "It's Patrick and me. Can we come in?"

Isaac and Patrick hear some mumbling through the door, and Rosemary shouts, "Come in!" Isaac opens the door, and Patrick shyly steps in first. Rosemary exclaims, "Hi bud. How are you doing? Are you ready to meet your brother or sister?"

Patrick shakes his head timidly, asking, "Can I hug you, Mama?"

"Certainly! You can come up here but be careful." Patrick climbs on the bed and into Rosemary's arms. She waves to her father and gives her son her full attention.

"The baby is really coming?" inquires Patrick.

"Pumpkin said he wants a hug from his big brother today." Patrick giggles.

"Are you saying pumpkin is a boy, Mama?"

Rosemary taps his nose, answering, "We won't know until he or she gets here. So, do you think you'll have a little sister or little brother?"

"Hmm, I think…" Patrick stops when Rosemary takes a sharp breath. She grips Lee's hand and breathes slowly in and out, trying not to show Patrick she is in agony.

"Mama, are you okay?" Patrick questions as he watches Rosemary closely.

"Yes. I'm fine," Rosemary replies in a high-pitched voice as she messes with his hair. "Why don't you go back downstairs with Pépé and play with Jack and Allie?"

"Okay, Mama. Can I come to see you again?"

"I'll have them bring you up after pumpkin is here."

"When will that be?"

"We have no idea. It could be in an hour, ten hours, or longer. It depends entirely on pumpkin." Patrick frowns but hops off the bed and skips downstairs.

Rosemary remarks, "Don't just stand there, Father."

Isaac chuckles and walks up to the bed to hug Rosemary, telling her, "You are doing great, honey! Keep it up, and you'll be holding your little one in no time." Rosemary smiles, and Isaac mentions, "I'll let you two be. See you later?" Rosemary thanks her father.

Coulter Home – 11:00 pm

Everyone is still waiting downstairs. Jack is sleeping on Elizabeth's lap. Nathan and Isaac are drinking their third cup of coffee, Rosalind and Faith are talking about Chicago, and Allie and Patrick are playing cards. There is still no baby, and Rosemary is driving them all crazy, asking for things. She has been increasingly moody and is almost at her breaking point. The only one she wants in the room with her is Lee, who tries his best to comfort her in her time of need. Patrick yawns and questions his grandfather, "How much longer, Pépé? I am tired."

Patrick sits on Pépé's lap, and he responds, "I don't know."

"Do you think someone can read us a story?"

"Why don't you ask Mémé? I bet she will."

Patrick goes over to Rosalind, asking, "Can you read to us?"

"It would be my pleasure, Patrick."

Patrick responds, "I'll go get a book. I'll be right back." Patrick runs to the bookshelf in the living room and pulls out At the Back of the North Wind. A book he gravitates to when he needs comfort. "Can you read this, Mémé?" Rosalind nods yes. Patrick gets comfortable sitting by his grandmother while Allie gets a pillow and blanket and sits on the floor next to Elizabeth. "I have been asked to tell you about the back of the North Wind," reads Rosalind as Isaac sneaks upstairs to check on his daughter.

Isaac knocks on the door, and Lee yells, "Come in." As he steps inside, he sees Rosemary lying up against Lee with her eyes closed. "Hello, Isaac," speaks Lee as Rosemary opens her eyes to greet her father.

"Hi, Father," Rosemary says sleepily.

"I wanted to see how you are doing. Is there anything I can get you?"

"Not unless you can make squishy pumpkin come out right now."

Isaac laughs, "I wish I could help you, but you know I can't rush the process."

Rosemary groans, stating, "I had no idea babies take this long to be born." She winces as she tries changing positions and then demands, "Help me up, Lee. I can't lay like this anymore." Lee jumps out of bed, and he and Isaac help Rosemary get up and walk the few steps to the rocking chair. She sits down and rocks herself until another contraction overtakes her.

To help get Rosemary's mind off the pain, Lee inquires, "What is happening downstairs? How is Patrick?"

"Patrick is trying so hard to stay awake. He even asked Rosalind to read a book to everyone."

Rosemary remarks, "My poor little boy."

"I'm sure he'll be asleep in no time, especially if someone is reading to him," suggests Lee.

"You're right," answers Rosemary as she rubs her belly and speaks to the baby inside her, "Are you ready to come out? We can't wait to meet you."

Coulter Home – 4:00 am

Rosemary shouts, "Lee, get Faith. I think something is wrong." She grabs Lee's arm, pleading, "Wait, don't leave me alone- No, you need to get Faith." Lee tries to get up, but Rosemary won't let go, repeating, "Stay here with me."

Lee reluctantly gets up after Rosemary finally lets him go and sticks his head out of their door, calling, "Faith, we need you."

Faith happened to be napping in Patrick's room and came out to see what was wrong.

"Something feels different," whines Rosemary.

Faith examines her again, announcing, "It's time!" Rosemary and Lee glance at one another with relief. "Do you want your mother and Elizabeth in here?" Rosemary shakes her head yes.

Faith offers, "Great. I'll go tell them and set everything up."

Lee responds, "Thanks, Faith, for being here for my two girls." Rosemary chuckles and rolls her eyes, adding her thanks as Faith runs out of the room. Lee crawls back in bed with her, inquiring, "Are you sure you want me in here for the birth, sweetheart? I know it is not the norm."

Rosemary rests her palm on his face, remarking, "I want you here by my side, always, no matter what."

Lee kisses her, revealing, "I am not going anywhere, my love."

"You better not, Lee Coulter," mentions Rosemary sarcastically as they both laugh.

A few minutes later, Faith, Elizabeth, and Rosalind come back into the room.

"Is it time?" inquires Rosalind.

Faith excitedly answers, "Yes!"

Thirty minutes later, at 4:32 am, July 12th, 1918, Faith places a crying baby on Rosemary's chest. Lee and Rosemary sob when they see their beautiful, healthy baby girl.

Elizabeth asks, "What is her name?"

Lee and Rosemary look at each other lovingly, and Lee motions for Rosemary to tell them. Rosemary proudly announces, "Her name is Isabella Rose Coulter."

Rosalind exclaims, "You picked the perfect name, ma chérie!" Elizabeth and Faith nod in agreement.

Faith tries to reach for Isabella, stating, "I hate to do this, but I need to see her for a moment to make sure she is all right."

Rosemary reluctantly gives her to Faith, responding, "Don't keep her for long. I already miss her." Faith examines Isabella, cleans her up, puts a diaper on her, and wraps her in a blanket. She brings her back to Rosemary, who is sitting up, so she can hold her daughter. After a few minutes of gazing into her daughter's eyes, Rosemary questions, "Do you want to hold her?"

Lee grins and wipes the tears out of his eyes. "Yes, I would love to hold my daughter." Rosemary happily hands Isabella to Lee and watches her husband melt into a million pieces.

Faith finishes writing her notes and interrupts all the coos coming from Lee's mouth. "Isabella is as healthy as can be, and so are you, Rosemary. I would highly suggest that you take it easy for the next couple of weeks and let yourself heal and recover. You and Isabella have been through a lot today."

Rosemary rubs Isabella's chin, baby-talking, "We will. Won't we, princess?"

Faith giggles and Elizabeth offers, "Why don't we let you three have some alone time? I think we'll go home for the night, but I expect some newborn cuddles later today."

"I am taking off too unless you would like me to stay," mentions Faith.

Rosemary replies, "I think we are good for now. Thank you."

"I'll stop by later today to check on you two," announces Faith.

Rosemary and Lee smile and Lee remarks, "Thank you, Elizabeth, Faith, Rosalind," and the three ladies excuse themselves, closing the door.

Rosemary glances at Lee as he stares intently at the bundle of joy in his arms, the little miracle they created with their love and God's help. He wipes a few more tears from his face and kisses Rosemary, asking, "How can I love someone so much I just met?"

"I know what you mean, sweetheart."

Lee kisses Isabella's tiny nose and adorable cheeks, speaking, "We love you, princess." Rosemary lays her head on Lee's shoulder and observes her husband with their precious gift from God. A few minutes later, Isabella starts to cry at the top of her lungs, and Lee questions, "Do you think she wants to eat?"

"Probably. Here, hand Isabella to me." Lee gives her to Rosemary, and she tries to get her to nurse. After a couple of tries, Isabella is happily and hungrily eating. Lee and Rosemary watch their daughter in awe until she falls back to sleep ten minutes later. Rosemary gently burps her and then cradles her back in her arms as Patrick, Isaac, and Rosalind knock on the door.

Isaac questions, "Can we come in, Rosie?"

"Of course, Father. Please join us." Isaac walks in first, followed by Rosalind and then Patrick, who hides behind his grandparents. Rosemary and Lee have the biggest grins on their faces. "Come in and meet Isabella Rose." Patrick's eyes open wide when he sees his little sister in his mother's arms. He hesitates, and Rosemary says, "It is okay, Patrick. You can sit next to me. Do you want to hold her?" Patrick giggles and climbs on the bed, sitting between Rosemary and Lee. "Put your back up to the headboard and hold your arms out." He follows directions, and Rosemary carefully places Isabella in his arms. "Be careful. She is very fragile." Patrick leans down and kisses her on the forehead.

"I'm your big brother, Patrick. Do you remember me?" Isabella yawns at that exact moment. "She answered me, Mama. Didn't she?"

"She sure did, bud."

Isaac sees the camera sitting on the dresser and tells everyone, "Smile," as he snaps the first photo of the family of four: Patrick sits between his beaming parents, holding his sister with the biggest grin on his face. Lee and Rosemary both have one arm wrapped around Patrick and the other supporting the child they prayed for each night.

Rosemary coos at Isabella, "Mama needs to take you back." Then Rosemary lifts her out of Patrick's arms and asks, "Father, would you like to hold your granddaughter?"

Isaac responds, "Yes, please." Isaac grabs her out of Rosemary's arms and sits on the rocking chair with her. "She is beautiful, Lee, Rosemary. She looks just like you did, ma petite étoile. She has light hair, your nose, and the biggest blue eyes."

"She'll have Lee's adorable smile," reveals Rosemary as she cries happy tears.

Isaac inquires, "Have you held her yet, Rosalind?" She nods no. "Would you like to hold her?"

Rosalind dabs at a tear, replying, "I would like that very much." Isaac stands up and switches places with Rosalind, handing Isabella to her after she sits down on the rocking chair. Rosalind stares at Isabella, who has fallen asleep in her arms. "I never thought I would be holding my granddaughter or preparing for a puppet show with my talented grandson. Thank you, my dear, for allowing us to be here to experience this life-changing moment." Patrick jumps off the bed and hugs Rosalind before hopping back on and cuddling up with his mother and father.

Isaac suggests, "Rosalind, Patrick, why don't we let them rest. I am sure they are ready for a nap. We'll take care of Patrick."

"Thanks, Mother, Father, we appreciate your help. Good night, Patrick. See you in a few hours."

Patrick tells Lee and Rosemary, "I love you to infinity," as Rosalind hands Isabella over to her mother.

"We love you more than all the stars in the sky, big brother Patrick," affirms Rosemary.

Patrick leans over his sister, whispering, "I love you, Isabella, to the moon and back." Then Patrick crawls off the bed, and he, Isaac, and Rosalind leave the room, shutting the door behind them.

Rosemary watches their little girl, stating, "I can't believe she is ours, and she is finally here, Lee. She is absolutely perfect. And you were right the whole time about us having a girl. How did you know?"

"Well, I was most of the time. Do you remember the dream I had?" Rosemary nods. "The little girl I dreamt about was so vivid and life-like. Instantly I knew God was giving us a glimpse of our future little girl. Our Isabella Rose. She is a mini version of her smart, strong, and gorgeous mother," remarks Lee.

Rosemary giggles, lightly hitting his chest, exclaiming, "Oh, Lee!" She kisses him fully and deeply, letting out a big yawn. "What time is it?" she asks.

He yawns back, answering, "It's around 6:00 am."

"I'm so tired, but I don't want to take my eyes off her."

"Me neither, but we should probably sleep when she sleeps. Let me put her in the bassinet for you," mentions Lee as he looks over and sees Rosemary holding their daughter with her head laid back slightly, her eyes closed, and the most peaceful expression on her face. Lee gets up and walks over to Rosemary's side of the bed, kissing her tenderly. Then, he carefully picks up Isabella out of her arms and lays her in the bassinet, covering her up with a blanket and kissing her forehead. "We love you so much, our precious angel," whispers Lee as he wipes a tear from his eye.
