Pain
The ceremony was quaint, formal, and over all so very human. He had attended only at the request of Rin and the miko herself. While it was not a youkai mating he knew that it was similar enough, it made her part of his pack, officially, and as alpha he was obligated to be there.
Even so as the ceremony progressed his mood continued to sour, why he had no idea. He mused it was mostly due to the fact that had he not been inclined to visit randomly he would have missed it. For an alpha to miss the formal induction of a new pack mate to the pack was unheard of.
He would most definitely have to talk with his half brother about the insult later.
The thought alone lightened his spirits a bit.
Even so as the ceremony droned on he couldn't help but to be in awe at how the miko seemed to glow. She always had a way about her, an inner light that shined out and welcomed others with open arms.
It was the same light that Rin possessed and he was glad that the miko was nurturing that light. Helping it grow in a world that would have otherwise snuffed it out, she had become the mothering hand that Rin had been lacking in their travels and he would always be in her debt for that.
Yet the aura she gave off right then and there, standing across from his half brother, her loving gaze seeing none but him. It made his chest twinge with pain, the foreign feeling gave him pause. Yet before he could ponder it more the others in attendance cheered at the miko and his half brother kissed, sealing their joining.
Deeming it enough he turned on his heel and left, the pain in his chest growing with each step he took. He would send a formal gift later, for now he wanted to wander his lands in peace. Hoping to put distance between himself and the miko who seemed to keep causing him to feel things he did not wish to feel nor think about.
