After their confrontation with the two newcomers Lucas and Mira were given the day off to recover. Given Lucas' condition and the fact that Mira had to ask Black Star and Soul to carry him back to their apartment she wasn't willing to leave. She sat by his bed and waited for him to wake up, the battle playing over and over in her head.

She remember feeling Lucas' wavelength going completely insane right before he let her go, was he trying to protect her by doing that? By keeping this secret martial art a secret from her? Why?

"What were you trying to do?" Mira asked Lucas' unconscious form.

After sitting for a few hours Mira was getting tired, she got up to stretch her legs. She thought that making a meal might help, in case Lucas woke up hungry, he did seem really tired, and she knew most of the guys were really hungry after they exerted themselves a ton.

She looked through their small apartment and realized that it was empty of any kind of decent meal foods. With a sigh Mira grabbed a bag and some of their allowance money, heading to the Death Mart. She purchased some eggs and bacon, and a loaf of bread, she didn't know why but breakfast felt like the best idea, even though it was going to be four o'clock in the afternoon when she finished.

She returned from her shopping trip and opened the door to their apartment, she set the bag of groceries on their table and lit their oven, setting a pan on the flames to let it heat up. She opened Lucas' bedroom door to check on him and was surprised to see him sitting up in bed, staring at his right hand.

"Lucas, you're awake," She said with relief.

"Yeah, did I worry you?" He asked breaking the gaze with his hand and looking to her.

"Just a little, you've been asleep for most of the day,"

"Sorry, entering that state takes a lot out of me," He said.

"Why did you do that?" She asked, "We could've kept going against them,"

"I… I don't know, something came over, the way he fought, the bond the two of them had, it was just… so aggravating to me," he explained.

They were both quiet for a while before Lucas began to sniff the air, "Do I smell something?"

"Oh, right! I was getting ready to make some dinner," Mira said as she left the room.

Lucas sighed as he watched Mira disappear behind the door and close it, he laid back down in his bed and stared up at the ceiling.

"Why did I do that? Mira and I could've taken those two on, we didn't even soul resonate," Lucas asked himself.

A few minutes later Mira knocked on the door, "Lucas?"

"Yeah," he replied as he got up.

She opened the door a crack and stuck her head through, "Dinner's ready,"

"I'll be right out," Lucas said as he made his way toward the door.

Mira smiled and disappeared, leaving the door open a crack as she sat herself down at the table, two plates of bacon, eggs, and toast were laid out with two glasses of milk.

Lucas sat down next to Mira "You made this?" He asked.

She nodded and her smile grew wider.

"It looks really good!"

Lucas clapped his hands together and closed his eyes, thinking a silent prayer.

"Thanks for the food!" he declared as he opened his eyes and grabbed a fork and knife before digging in with gusto.

Mira watched for a minute before she began to calmly eat her own food. Lucas went through the dozen eggs she'd bought as well as the pound of bacon and half the loaf of toast. She was surprised at this and made a mental note to buy some more food, and possibly look for a job to help fund Lucas' appetite.

Lucas leaned back in his hair as he picked his teeth clean with a toothpick ten minutes later and let out a contented sigh. He looked over to Mira who had just finished her own plate, she gathered up the dishes and set them in the sink before looking at Lucas.

"Are you feeling better?" She asked.

"Much better, thanks. You're a really good cook you know?" Lucas asked her.

She blushed "You really think so?"

"Yeah! You should work in one of the restaurants here in town, you'd make a great chef," He said.

"Well… I'd be ok with that, if you worked there with me,"

Lucas laughed a little, "I don't know how to cook,"

"But maybe you could bus tables or maybe be a bouncer if it's an elite restaurant," Mira offered.

"Well, those do sound more like me," Lucas flicked his toothpick into the trash can and looked at Mira.

"Mira, talk to me, you've been treating me like I'm some kind of violent animal that'll rip you to shreds for looking at it wrong,"

"What? No I've-"

"Mira," Lucas said sternly

She looked into his eyes and saw the darkness there, she knew he was concerned and slightly angry with her for trying to lie her way out of it.

She sighed, "What you said, back at the school, right before you blacked out, you said it might be a while before we could work together,"

"Is that what all this is about?" He asked.

"Yes! You don't understand, before I met you, there wasn't anyone else in my life! I was just a nameless student who was trying her hardest to find a meister, and then you came along like a gift from the heavens… I don't want to go back to being so lonely," She said

Lucas stood up from his chair and moved across the room, extending a hand to put on her shoulder.

"I won't abandon you, we've come too far, developed so much together as a pair, it'd be stupid,"

As his hand touched her shoulder they both jumped back as a shock stung their contacting parts.

"What the?" Mira asked.

"Damn," Lucas said, "My wavelength is still going a little crazy, it might be a bit longer before we can work together Mira… I'm sorry, I should've asked you before I went into that blind rage,"

"It's… it's alright Lucas, why don't you just rest. I'll clean these dishes and then head to bed," Mira told him.

Lucas nodded before turning away and retiring to his room. He plopped down onto the mattress and cursed silently under his breath.

"Damn it! How could I be so stupid? She probably hates me,"

Mira meanwhile was washing the evening's dishes and thought to herself.

"Damn it! I'm so weak. He probably hates me,"

After finishing the dishes a few minutes later Mira went around and hit all the apartment lights before retiring to her own bed for the evening.
