Central Park, New York
Tony and Pepper were walking down the park as they were talking about having a family and kissing, when they heard a 'whoosh' and a portal opened.
"Tony Stark." A new voice called out and they turned to see Strange emerge from the portal. "I'm Doctor Stephen Strange. I need you to come with me." He said as Tony and Pepper stared in confusion at what was going on. "Oh, uh, congratulations on the wedding, by the way."
"I'm sorry, you giving out tickets to something?" Tony asked, wondering what was going on.
"We need your help. It's not overselling it to say that the fate of the universe is at stake." Strange said ominously.
"And who's 'we'?" Tony asked and to answer his question, an old friend emerged from the portal as Tony and Pepper stared in shock, seeing him again after two years.
"Hey, Tony." Bruce said.
"Bruce." Tony said, surprised.
"Pepper." Bruce said, turning to her next.
"Hi." Pepper greeted.
Bruce approached Tony and hugged him, happy to see him again.
"You OK?" Tony asked, while returning the hug.
Later, Sanctum Sanctorum
Tony was with Bruce and Strange and Wong in the lobby of the Sanctum as Wong began narrating.
"At the dawn of the universe, there was nothing. Then… Boom." In the air appeared a glow of light, showing the universe and six glowing stones, each with a designed color. "The Big Bang sent six elemental crystals hurtling across the virgin universe. These Infinity Stones each control an essential aspect of universe."
"Space. Reality. Power. Soul. Mind." Strange said as each designed stone began glowing before he looked down at the necklace on his neck, while the Eye of Agamotto opened, revealing a green glowing stone. "And Time."
"Tell me his name again." Tony said.
"Thanos. He's a plague, Tony. He invades planets. He takes what he wants. He wipes out half the population." Bruce explained, clearly terrified. "He sent Loki. The attack on New York, that's him."
Tony felt a shiver down his spine, remembering his nightmares plaguing him ever since he destroyed the Chitauri mothership years ago to save New York. "This is it." He began pacing down the hall. "What's our timeline?"
"No telling. He has the Power and Space Stones. That already makes him the strongest creature in the whole universe." Bruce said as Tony leaned onto a nearby cauldron, the nightmares resurfacing as he began stretching his legs. "If he gets his hands on all six stones, Tony…"
"…he could destroy life on a scale hitherto undreamt of." Strange finished.
"Did you seriously just say 'hitherto undreamt of'?" Tony asked.
"Are you seriously leaning on the Cauldron of the Cosmos?" Strange asked.
"Is that what it is?" Tony asked before his hand was smacked by Strange's cloak and he turned to Strange, offended but quickly composed himself. "I'm going to allow that." He began considering other options as he gestured to the Time Stone on Strange's neck. "If Thanos needs all six, why don't we just stick this one down a garbage disposal or send it to another Earth?"
"No can do." Strange shook his head. "And with the Space Stone in Thanos's possession, he can just easily track the others down to another Earth."
"Besides, we swore an oath to protect the Time Stone with our lives." Wong explained.
"And I swore off dairy but then Ben & Jerry's named a flavor after me, so…" Tony shrugged.
"Stark Raving Hazelnuts." Strange muttered.
"Not bad." Tony noted.
"A little bit chalky." Strange said.
"A Hunk of Hulk of Burning Fudge is our favorite." Wong said.
"That's a thing?" Bruce asked.
"Whatever. Point is, things change." Tony said, getting back to the topic at hand.
"Our oath to protect the Time Stone cannot change and this Stone may be the best chance we have against Thanos." Strange said.
"Yeah, so conversely, it may also be his best chance against us." Tony pointed out.
"Well, if we don't do our jobs." Strange said.
"What is your job exactly? Besides making balloon animals?" Tony asked sarcastically.
"Protecting your reality… douchebag." Strange said, amused.
"OK, guys." Bruce interrupted. "Could we table this discussion right now? The fact is that we have this stone. We know where it is." He gestured to Strange's Time Stone before pointing outside. "Vision is out there somewhere with the Mind Stone and we have to find him now."
"Yeah, that's the thing…" Tony trailed off, looking awkward.
"What do you mean?" Bruce asked, confused.
"Two weeks ago, Vision turned off his transponder. He's offline." Tony said.
"What?!" Bruce exclaimed.
"Yeah." Tony nodded, pacing.
"Tony, you lost another super-bot?" Bruce demanded, looking at Tony incredulously.
"I didn't lose him. He's more than that, he's evolving." Tony explained.
"Who could find Vision then?" Strange asked as Tony paced, thinking before the realization hit him.
"Shit." Tony muttered, realizing who could, even though he was not exactly on best of terms with them. "Probably Steve Rogers, Batman, Superman or the Green Arrow."
"Oh, great." Strange groaned, rolling his eyes.
"Maybe." Tony corrected. "But…" He sighed.
"Call them." Bruce said.
"It's not that easy." Tony explained as he turned to Bruce. "God, we haven't caught up in a spell, have we?"
"No." Bruce said.
"The Avengers broke up and I'm not exactly on speaking terms with the rest and Superman is gone. We're toast." Tony explained.
"Broke up?" Bruce repeated, confused. "Like a band? Like… like the Beatles?"
"Like I said, I'm not exactly on speaking terms with the rest." Tony explained.
"Tony, listen to me." Bruce said as he stepped up to Tony. "Thor's gone. Thanos is coming. It doesn't matter who you're talking to or not."
Tony sighed before realizing he had no other choice left as he picked the flip phone Steve had left him in case he needed him and opened it, about to dial Steve's number but stopped, when everyone heard something. Tony looked around, wondering what was going on before turning his attention to Strange, whose hair were slightly moving, as if blown by slight breeze.
"Say, Doc, you wouldn't happen to be moving your hair, would ya?" Tony asked.
"Not at the moment, no." Strange said.
Tony looked up through the hole that Hulk had made upon returning to Earth before everyone turned their attention to the main entrance and saw people running down the street in panic. Tony opened the door and went out, while people were screaming and running away. A woman bumped into Tony but he helped her on her feet, while Bruce and Wong were helping others and Tony put on his glasses. "FRIDAY, what am I looking at?"
"Not sure. I'm working on it." FRIDAY said.
Tony ran down the street before turning to Strange. "Hey! You might wanna put that Time Stone in your back pocket, Doc!"
"Might wanna use it." Strange said, forming Tao Mandalas in his hands.
Strange and Tony looked around the corner and saw a giant spaceship in shape of some circle, spinning around.
New York
In another part of the city, Peter Parker was in a school bus, when he saw the hair on his arm stand and he turned to see a circular spaceship above New York, which meant that someone needed help but Peter needed to cause a distraction as an idea formed in his mind as he pointed to the window. "Hey! Are you guys seeing it too?"
"Is that a spaceship?" Flash asked as he looked outside the window.
"Oh, my God!" MJ exclaimed.
With everyone's attention focused on outside, Peter opened his backpack and picked his web-shooters and opened the window and climbed out, holding onto the side of the bus and putting on his Spider-Man suit before he swung towards where the spaceship was.
"FRIDAY, evac anyone south of 43rd Street, notify first responders!" Tony ordered.
"Will do." FRIDAY said.
Strange summoned the Winds of Watoomb to blow away the dust and debris coming their way as the ship was nearing the ground. He winked at Tony, who just looked annoyed, when a beam shined down from the ship and Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian appeared in the middle of the street, while Tony, Bruce, Strange and Wong approached them.
"Hear me and rejoice." Maw said. "You are about to die at the hands of the Children of Thanos. Be thankful that your meaningless lives are now contributing—"
"I'm sorry, Earth is closed today." Tony interrupted. "You better pack it up and get outta here."
Maw turned his attention to Strange. "Stonekeeper." He then turned to Tony. "Does this chattering animal speak for you?"
"Certainly not. I speak for myself." Strange said as he and Wong formed Tao Mandalas in their hands and prepared for a fight. "You're trespassing in this city and on this planet."
"He means, 'Get lost, Squidward.'" Tony said.
"He exhausts me. Bring me the Stone." Maw ordered to Cull, who approached.
"Banner, you want a piece?" Tony asked.
"Mmm, no, not really." Bruce said uncomfortably. "But when do I ever get what I want?"
"That's right." Tony said.
"OK. Push!" Bruce grunted, turning green but to his surprise, he wasn't turning into Hulk.
"It's been a while. It's gonna be good to have you back, buddy." Tony said.
"OK, shh… let me just… I need to concentrate here for a second." Bruce said as everyone looked at him awkwardly, since he seemed to be struggling turning into Hulk. "Come on. Come on, man. God!"
Snarling, Cull approached them as he smashed a car, while nearing them.
"Where's your guy?" Tony demanded, turning to Bruce, who panted out and turned normal.
"I don't know. We've sorta been having a thing." Bruce said.
"It's no time for a thing." Tony snapped.
"I know." Bruce snapped.
"That's the thing right there." Tony pointed at the two aliens. "Let's go."
Bruce continued trying to turn as he kept grunting in effort but to no avail, making the situation awkward.
"Dude, you're embarrassing me in front of the wizards." Tony grumbled.
"Tony, I'm sorry. Either I can't or he won't." Bruce said.
"It's OK." Tony said as he held Bruce's shoulders and pushed him to Wong gently. "Hey, stand down. Keep an eye on him." He ordered and Wong nodded. "Thank you."
"I have him." Wong assured.
Cull charged, roaring, while Tony pulled the strings on his jacket and tapped his chestpiece twice before nanobots emerged, encasing Tony's body in an armor, while he put down his glasses, assimilating them with his suit as a helmet formed on his head, with Tony now in his Iron Man Mark L armor. Cull swung his hammer but Tony raised his hand, forming a shield and blocking the hammer before punching Cull in the face as the giant stumbled back. Tony raised his arms as cluster cannons formed and blasted Cull towards Maw, who threw him aside with a gesture of his hand, sending Cull crashing to a nearby car. Tony lowered his hands as the cluster cannons returned back to his suit.
"Where'd that come from?" Bruce asked as Tony turned to face him.
"It's nanotech. You like it? A little something I—" Suddenly, Tony was hurled into the air with Maw's telekinesis before he lifted two trees and threw them but Wong enlarged his Tao Mandala to shield everyone, while Strange turned to Bruce.
"Dr. Banner, if the rest of your green friend won't be joining us…" Strange raised his hand and opened a portal at Bruce's feet as Bruce fell down, ending up back at Central Park before he rolled away as a piece of a wrecked cab fell through the portal, almost crushing Bruce.
Tony flew back and blasted another car Maw was throwing at them back at him but Maw sliced it in half with another gesture of his hand.
"You gotta get that Stone out of here, now." Tony ordered, turning to Strange.
"It stays with me." Strange said firmly.
"Exactly, bye." Tony said before flying towards Maw.
Maw continued throwing pieces of road but Tony dodged before Cull threw his chain hammer at Tony, sending him flying back. Tony was thrown several streets away and crashing through buildings before ending up in a nearby park.
Elsewhere, in another part of the park, a blind man with red glasses and wearing a suit, Matt Murdock, a woman with dirty blonde hair in black leather jacket and blue jeans, Sara Lance, an Asian dark-haired woman in white jacket and pants, Colleen Wing and a blonde man with a beard, green jacket and pants, Danny Rand, were having a double date, having been convinced to do it by their girlfriends but then they stopped upon hearing the commotion, in Matt's case, he heard it louder than others.
"What's going on?" Sara asked before they saw Iron Man crash through the building and landing on a tree.
"Tony, you OK?" Bruce asked as he approached Tony. "How we doing? Good? Bad?"
"Really, really good. Really good." Tony said sarcastically before turning to Bruce. "Do you plan on helping out?"
"I'm trying. He won't come out." Bruce explained.
Cull broke through the building and threw his hammer at Tony and Bruce.
"That's not good." Sara said.
"We have to do something, let's go." Danny said and everyone nodded, rushing to the scene.
Tony pushed Bruce out of the way as they avoided the hammer before Tony fired repulsor beams at Cull, who raised his shield to block and deflected the beams, slicing down some trees as Bruce rolled away to avoid getting crushed as he scrambled on his feet. "Come on, Hulk! What are you doing to me?" He began smacking himself on the face. "Come out! Come out! Come out!"
"No!" Hulk grunted as Bruce's face turned green for a moment before turning normal as he groaned, while falling down on the ground.
"What do you mean, 'no'?" Bruce demanded.
Tony was flying around Cull and firing beams and missiles but Cull blocked them before knocking Tony to the ground. Cull rushed at Tony, when Danny and Colleen rushed at him with their Iron Fists landing on Cull's chest, knocking him back as Cull fell down on the ground.
"You OK?" Sara asked as she and Matt helped Tony on his feet.
"Well, if it isn't my favorite lawyer and his girlfriend and billionaire too." Tony quipped.
"Another alien invasion in New York?" Matt asked.
"Yeah." Tony said.
"Watch out!" Danny warned as they dodged Cull throwing his hammer at them before Spider-Man swung in, firing web bullets at him and dazing him.
"What is this guy's problem?" Peter asked.
"Uh, he's from space. He came here to steal a necklace from a wizard." Tony explained.
Cull caught Peter and threw him away before Tony flew around Cull, firing beams but Cull used his hammer to shield himself before throwing a piece of the wrecked cab but Colleen sliced through it with her katana, channeling her chi into the blade.
"So your fist and your sword glows." Tony noted.
"It's chi." Colleen explained.
"Wow. Like Dragon Ball?" Spider-Man asked, excited.
"He's just a kid." Matt shrugged as Tony shook his head and sighed in exasperation.
Back on Bleecker Street, another battle was taking place. Maw lifted bricks into the air, turning them into spikes and throwing them at Strange but Strange and Wong formed portals, redirecting them at Maw, who used his telekinesis and lifted a wrecked car as a shield but one spike managed to graze him in the head, infuriating him. Maw reached out and smashed open a hydrant as the burst of water knocked Wong back. Strange formed an Eldritch whip, ensnaring Maw and pulled but Maw flew towards Strange and pinned him to a building, encasing him in the brick wall.
"Your powers are quaint. You must be popular with children." Maw said as he attempted to take the Eye of Agamotto but the amulet began glowing upon Maw touching it and he pulled away, grunting in pain due to Eldritch magic shielding the necklace.
"It's a simple spell but quite unbreakable." Strange said.
"Then I'll take it off your corpse." Maw said as he grabbed Strange and threw him down.
Strange landed on a delivery van and tumbled down on the road before he got up to his feet and opened the Eye of Agamotto, about to use the Time Stone but utility cables from beneath the road emerged thanks to Maw's powers, restraining Strange as the amulet closed before the cables wrapped themselves around Strange, choking him and Maw clenched his fist, tightening the grip of the cables as Strange grunted in pain.
"You'll find removing a dead man's spell troublesome." Strange said, choking out.
"You'll only wish you were dead." Maw promised as the cable around Strange's neck tightened, causing for Strange to pass out. Maw lifted a piece of the road with Strange, using it as a platform and was about to take him away but the Cloak of Levitation flew off with Strange, much to Maw's chagrin. "No!"
Matt and Sara jumped away as Cull swung his hammer and Tony raised his shield, blocking it before they saw Strange pass by them.
"Kid, that's the wizard. Get on it." Tony ordered.
"On it!" Peter said, web-swinging after Strange, with Maw in hot pursuit as well and Peter was forced to dodge, when Maw began throwing billboards at him. "Not cool!"
Maw began twisting and bending street lamps to catch Strange as one of them caught the Cloak of Levitation, getting it off Strange's shoulders but Peter grabbed him before Strange would hit the ground.
"Gotcha!" Peter cheered but suddenly a tractor beam caught Strange, causing for Peter to stop. "Wait!" He cried out as the beam began pulling Strange up into the ship, while Peter held onto a street lamp to pull Strange back but Maw lifted the lamp with his telekinesis. "Uh… a little help here! I'm being beamed up!"
"Hang on, kid." Tony said, dodging Cull's hammer as it smashed the base of a statue, causing for it to collapse before Cull grabbed Tony and threw him on the ground with the claw restraining Tony.
Sara threw shurikens at Cull, who only roared in rage and slammed his hammer, causing for her to roll away and dodge before Matt kicked Cull in the face, dazing him but Cull grabbed Matt and threw him at Danny and Colleen, knocking them all down. Cull pulled a blade out of his bracer and rushed at Tony, about to finish him off, when a portal opened and Cull fell through and ended up in a snowy terrain, surrounded by mountains. Cull turned, about to lunge at Wong, who was on the other side of the portal but Wong closed the portal, cutting Cull's hand off in the process as Cull tried to reach out.
"Oh!" Bruce groaned in disgust, kicking the hand off.
"Wong, you're invited to my wedding." Tony quipped before the jets on his boots went off and he flew up.
Spider-Man was crawling on a side of the spaceship, while Tony was following the spaceship. "Give me a little juice, FRIDAY." The jets on Tony's boots were going off as he continued following the ship. "Unlock 17:A."
From the Avengers Compound flew off a pod, following the spaceship.
"Pete, you gotta let go, I'm gonna catch you." Tony said.
"But what about the wizard?" Peter asked before he began panting out as he took off his mask. "I can't breathe."
"We're too high up, you're running out of air." Tony said.
"Yeah, that makes sense." Peter said before he passed out and fell off the ship.
The pod flew towards Peter and began disassembling, its parts placing themselves on Peter, nanobots surrounding his entire body before Peter landed on the hull of the ship, amazed by his new suit.
"Wow, it smells like a new car in here!" Peter said excitedly.
"Happy trails, kid. FRIDAY, send him home." Tony ordered.
"Yep." FRIDAY said.
A parachute suddenly exploded on Peter's back, blowing him off the ship. "Oh, come on!"
Tony clambered onto the side of the ship and cut a hole in with a laser in his wrist.
"Boss, incoming call from Miss Potts." FRIDAY said.
"Tony? Oh, my God." Pepper said. "Are you all right? What's going on?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. I just think we might have to push our 8:30 res." Tony said.
"Why?" Pepper asked worriedly.
"Just 'cause I'll probably not make it back for a while." Tony said as he began looking around inside the ship as the mask retracted itself off his face.
"Tell me you're not on that ship." Pepper begged.
"Yeah." Tony said.
"God, no, please, tell me you're not on that ship."
"Honey, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I don't know what to say—"
"Come back here, Tony. I swear to God…"
"Pep."
"…come back here right now. Come—back—"
"Boss, we're losing her—I'm going too—"
The transmission was getting weaker until it was turned off, alongside FRIDAY's AI and Maw's ship flew into the space, leaving Earth's atmosphere.
Down in the streets of New York, Bruce found Tony's flip-phone before he turned to see Wong enter the portal into Sanctum Sanctorum.
"Where you going?" Bruce asked as Wong turned to him.
"The Time Stone's been taken. The Sanctum remains unguarded." The Master of Mystic Arts explained. "What will you do?"
Bruce turned to the phone in his hand. "I'm gonna make a call."
Wong nodded as he closed the portal, while Bruce dialed Steve's number.
"Looks like things are about to get much more complicated." Colleen said.
"How bad? Avengers situation?" Danny asked.
"Knowing this gang, most likely." Sara said before she pulled out her phone and dialed a number. After a moment, it answered. Sara was about to speak up but groaned immediately.
"Hey. It's Oliver. I can't talk right now but leave me a message and I'll get back to you ASAP."
Sara groaned and hung up before dialing the next number. She waited a moment and sighed in relief to know that the caller answered.
"Hey, Sara, what's up?"
"Barry? How long before you can get to New York?"
The part in Central Park is taken from Aragorn II Elessar's 'Heroes stand united' and Tony still built the Iron Spider suit just in case Peter needed it but Peter isn't going to follow Tony onto the suicide mission, since he's not Iron Boy here and even without Peter in space, I'm sure the events there would go down the same way without any changes. I have different plans for him here.
So, what do you guys think?
