Hello everyone! I just wanted to try this Jake and Bella. I saw this beautiful image made by lynx_illlustration (the one I have as the story cover) and I couldn't resist. If you'll like it, I wanna post a second chapter. This would be a series of independent stories. Enjoy!

It was an ordinary day on the Quileute Indian reservation. The sky was cloudy and the sun came and went. Mostly it was going away. It was an ordinary day on La Push beach, and there was not a soul. Except for two people. A boy, no, a Native man, who looked like a giant and a girl who, just by looking at her, you could tell she did not live on the reservation. Anchored to his arm, she was so short that she looked like a child. Her skin as white and delicate as snow made his copper and exotic skin stand out. No one, at first glance, would have said that boy and girl had anything in common.

Bella let go of his arm and, with an hopeful look on her face, rushed toward that little cream-colored ledge hollowed out in the damp gray sand. She knelt down and grasped it with her hand, examining it. A simple shell previously carried by the waves. She huffed, both in disappointment and at that strand of hair that had fallen back in front of her face, and returned to her feet. His warm chuckle caressed her ears. She turned, frowning, as he caught up with her.

-You have to be lucky, Bells.

Jacob took the shell from her hands, his white smile not leaving his face once. Bella wanted to answer him that she did not need it because, she was already lucky in another way. Jacob threw the shell into the sea. It landed in the waves with a gentle "splash," swallowed by that dark gray agitated expanse. Bella took advantage of that brief moment when he was looking at the sea, admiring him. His long ebony hair was being stirred by the wind, his bare arms did not feel a chill, and his broad shoulders gave him the pride and manhood she had never seen in anyone else. And she had told him so, in that rare moments like the one of boldness following her fall on the motorcycle. You're sorta beautiful.

Of course, as he turned to her and caught her red-handed, Bella felt herself blush violently. She didn't like him noticing; after all, she had always been more about actions than words, and that wasn't going to change overnight. Jacob knew her better than his pockets, so he ignored it and they resumed walking side by side. Jacob thinned his gaze in front of him, then with long, wolfish strides approached the waves farther out. His boots sank into the waves, making no sound. He squatted down and his hand sank into the water. Bella bit her lower lip, carefully studying his broad back. Then, when he straightened up with a triumphant air, she noticed that his hand was carrying something. She stayed on the shoreline, waiting and watching him as he came back. When he reached in front of her, she was forced to raise her head to meet his gaze. He stretched out his closed fisted hand, and the other one gently took hers. Bella lowered her head and a smile lit up her face. On the palm of his large, dark hand was a sand dollar. It looked so small in comparison. It looked so light in comparison. The typical "flower" adorned its facade. With his thumbs, he removed the last grains of sand that covered it.

-See.

With his inhuman strength, the simple pressure of his palms broke it in two. Bella held them open, and he tipped the five small dove-shaped teeth into them. Then he put it in his pocket.

-You have to look better, or you won't find it.

Bella absently nodded, and with her thumb, she brushed the teeth with looking at them in fascination. Without hesitation, she took three teeth and handed them to him. Her small white hand was hidden by his.

-Next time you owe me three.

That was their game. Each time one of them would keep two teeth, the next time the other would give three and keep the other two to be even. But since the total number of teeth was always five, they would never be even.

Jacob surrounded her face with his hands and leaned over her. When his nose brushed hers, Bella shivered and her heart began to run wildly. Jacob smiled, his wolf instincts sensing of her every little sensation.

-All the ones you want, Bells. - he breathed warmly on her lips. Bella's head was spinning. With what shred of clarity she still had left, she asked him:

-Forever?

-Always.

And when his lips touched hers, the rest of the world disappeared.
