his eyes were wide open.
he knew he was to blame for this whole mess, he knew everything was his fault like usual, and his logical mind understood thay they had to make a living one way or another, but when he saw those uniforms, when he saw the triumphant look on their faces, when he saw the "Centipede", a scorpion's natural enemy, when he looked at paige's eyes and saw the tenderness that was once in them had been replaced by a cold gaze directed towards him, when paige ignored him, when the door closed in his face.
something inside of him just ... died.
cabe was shocked, sad and furious all at once, how could they do this to walter, how could they try to hurt him on purpose like that, he knew better than anyone how much walter cared for these people,he was looking at his son, walter was expressionless, his eyes were wide open but cabe could tell he was broken inside, "you okay son ?", walter didn't reply, he just stood there, staring at the door.
he didn't understand what just happened to him, the thoughts that were overflowing his brilliant mind stopped by the sound of the door closing as if on cue, the sound of his head which was once as loud as the real world was now for the first time in his life, deafiningly silent, he heard no sound inside his head, not his thoughts, not the sound of logic or reason to guide him like it always did, not even the slow and painful beats of his broken heart, nothing, he heard nothing, his ears were beeping, he drew a blank.
after staring at the door for a while, he simply turned around, ... and left.
he was silent the whole way home, neither cabe nor florence dared to initiate a conversation with him, when they arrived walter silently walked into the garage, florence looked on the verge of tears and her breathing was audible, cabe noticed, it really wasn't her fault at all, all she did was accept an invite from a friend and say something at the wrong timing, and yet guilt was visibly tearing the blonde chemist apart, he told her it's okay for her to go home to rest ,and that he was going to talk to walter, she simply thanked him and returned to her lab.
as soon as walter closed the garage door behind him, the voices started replaying in his head again as if on cue, memories of that day and everyone's words to him, the sound of the door closing, his own thoughts, his broken heart, it was too much of a load for him, everything hurt, so he employed his coping mechanism, he slowly made his way to the loft, and to the board, grabbed a marker and started writing equations and solving them, it didn't make it hurt less, and it didn't distract him from the voices in his head, it wasn't working, he stopped writing equations and stood still like a statue infront of the board, with the pen in his hand, as expressionless as the moment the door was closed infront of him, did he think that having the answers to the equations he wrote would help him solve his current situation, what was there to even solve about it ?!, he didn't know it's head from it's tail, the one who helped him with these things is gone, so he employed the method that always worked for him, Logic,
so he began problem solving by resonating with The Voice Of Logic inside his head.
What's the issue ?
his girlfriend no longer loves him.
his brother thinks he harmed him on purpose.
his 2 best friends are upset with him.
they all left him and formed their own company to compete against him.
he can no longer see the boy he cared for like a son.
Why ?
because he screwed up again like usual
How so ?
he lied to paige about taking florence to the lecture that he was going take her to, he failed to listen to toby and happy's advice, he failed to know that sly would develop feelings for florence and he failed to predict that she would develop feelings for him.
Why lie to paige ?
because acording to paige there's this concept of white lies where a lie to protect someone's feelings is better than to tell the truth and hurt them.
Then why was she hurt ?
because according to toby it wasn't a white lie.
Why so ?
he said that it was due to the fact that she was a woman and that he dreamed of kissing her.
Didn't you work with other women before ?
yes he did work with other women.
Then maybe it's the dream ?
but acording to toby the dream was a subconcious reaction to her presence after he fell on his head, so if he hadn't fell on his head he wouldn't have had it, and he didn't have any other dreams of her so therefore he wasn't attracted to her, so the dream is insignificant to the argument, right ?
So what makes a lie white then ?
the only example he got from paige was when she made him breakfast and taught him about it, he was about to tell her how it tasted and then she indicated that he was wrong to do so and told him that he should've lied to make her feel good.
So they have to make people feel good ?
but toby later specifically stated that if he didn't tell her she would feel good so that means it was a white lie, then why was paige hurt if he did what she asked for ?
Maybe she didn't think it was a white lie ?
she's the one that taught him the concept, it's her job, she can't be wrong.
Then maybe because florence had feelings for you ?
he wasn't aware of that, she didn't show any signs of having feelings for him, if anything she acted like happy when she was working with him, paige wouldn't blame him if he wasn't aware, should he have been aware ?, and if so, how ?
Maybe paige didn't believe you and thought you both had feelings for each other ?
that doesn't make sense, after she and florence talked about his dream, she specifically stated that she trusted him after he told her he trusted her to save him.
Maybe she has issues with florence ?
that doesn't make sense either, they made up and she even helped florence with her project presentation, what issues could they have, they don't interact a lot.
Maybe because she's blonde haired, like the woman that drew cheated on her with, maybe she was angry because she thought you'd leave her ?
that doesn't make sense either, he loves her, he told her he loves her, and she's the more attractive one too.
Maybe because she has similar traits to yours and closer intelligence ?
that doesn't make sense either, she knows he has been married to happy for 6 years and nothing happened between them, she couldn't have thought he'd leave her for florence.
She had no logical reason to be hurt.
then why did she leave if she wasn't hurt ?
