Tails laid in his bed, beneath his warm covers. The little two-tailed fox began to drift off into a deep sleep, until something caught his attention. Right outside his hut window was a silhouette of something, something he never saw before. Staring right at him was a head, Tails was unable to see the features of the head because of how dark it was outside, the only thing he was able to see where those large, glowing eyes staring right at him.

Tails felt unnerved by the silhouette, but he was unable to move any part of his body, he couldn't even let out a scream for help. Tails and the silhouette stared at each other for what felt like an hour, then the silhouette vanished and Tails was able to move his body again. Tails thought that was weird, so he falls asleep, brushing off what just happened.

Night two:

After a bedtime story from Bunnie, Tails was ready for some sleep. As soon as he turned over to his left, he see's the silhouette staring at him again. Tails tries to get out of his bed, but he's unable to move an inch again. He decided to try to yell for help but he wasn't even able to let out a word. All the poor little fox could do was just stare at the silhouette that was staring right back at him.

The silhouette then places both of it's hands on the window, frightening Tails to his core. Tails wondered what that thing outside his hut wanted, but he already had a feeling he knew what it wanted. Tails and the silhouette stared at each other again, but after what felt like hours, the silhouette vanished again. As the silhouette vanished, the sun began to rise and Tails was able to move his body again.

In the dining hut of Knothole Village, Sonic, Sally, Bunnie, Antoine, and Rotor were getting ready for breakfast. Bunnie cooked pancakes with blueberries, Tails' favorite breakfast. Everyone finished their pancakes but Tails didn't show up at all, confusing everyone.

They head to Tails' hut to see if he was okay. They entered the hut to see Tails sleeping. Sonic approaches the bed and wakes Tails up. Sonic, Sally and the others see that Tails looks like he haven't slept all night, judging by how groggily he spoke.

Sally lets Tails sleep until 10:30 A.M. He felt a bit better afterwards.

Later that night:

Sally reads Tails a bedtime story, After she finished the book, she kisses her adopted little brother on the forehead, wishing him a better night then last night. After Sally leaves Tails' hut, heading back to her's for her bedtime, it happens again.

The silhouette comes back, but not at the window, but rather on the other side of the hut. Tails was more terrified, he couldn't move, he couldn't scream, it felt like he was forced into a nightly staring contest with this thing.

Tails began to think if the silhouette was a robot that Dr. Robotnik sent from Robotropolis to attack Knothole Village, but then realize that if it was sent by Robotnik, it would have destroyed the village by now, not toy with him for fun.

As the sunrise came, the silhouette vanished yet again. Tails didn't even fall asleep, he didn't want the others to get involved, he thought they would think he was just having a nightmare.

Tails tried to go on with his day, but he was very tired and hardly hid it, the others noticed. Everyone, mainly Sonic, Sally, and Bunnie, were curious about Tails' lack of sleep from last night and the night before. Sally tells everyone if Tails is tired the next day, their going to see what's going on.

That night, Sonic offered to read Tails a bedtime story, but Tails was too tired for one.

Tails drifts off to sleep, but he wakes up to something. The silhouette is standing in front of his window, staring at him again. This time, Tails could see that this thing's color is completely black, like a shadow.

Tails wanted to ask it what did it want from him, but as expected, he couldn't talk. The staring continued until sunrise, when the silhouette vanished again.

Tails went on with his day, but was still tired. He couldn't do his usual activities because of how tired he was, Sally offered to finish playing football with him that day while Sonic, Bunnie, Antoine and Rotor were on a mission in Robotropolis, but he couldn't even catch the ball. Sally grows more curious about Tails' lack of sleep, judging from the bags under his eyes.

That night, Sonic and the others finished their mission at Robotropolis and were going to make it home the next day, leaving Sally and Tails alone in Knothole Village together.

After Sally reads Tails a quick bedtime story, she goes to her hut to get ready for bed. Tails knew the silhouette was coming back to taunt him. He was right, the silhouette came back again.

Sally got her pajamas on, which was a red football jersey with a big, white number "5" on the front center of it, and was laying in her bed, reading a book. As Sally turned off her lamp and got under the blanket, She feels something in her stomach. Sally wondered what it was, she wasn't hungry, she didn't feel like she needed to pass gas, she wasn't sick, it was something else, it was telling her that Tails needs her now. Following what that feeling in her stomach says, Sally gets her slippers on, grabs a lit lantern and heads to Tails' hut.

Tails and the silhouette stared at each other again, Tails wondered if this would ever end. Then suddenly, the silhouette reached it's arms out and made it's way to Tails' bed. Tails was horrified, he has no idea what that thing wants to do with him.

Right when the silhouette reached the foot of Tails' bed, Sally opened the door, lantern in hand. Just as she was about to ask Tails if he was okay, she see's the silhouette standing there. Sally's face dropped in fear, she found out why Tails hasn't been sleeping well these past few nights, She could only let out one thing.

"What in the world?"

The silhouette then moves towards Sally, arms reached out. But Sally throws the lantern at it, it immediately catches on fire. The silhouette scream as it burn, while Sally got on Tails' bed and shielded him from potentially getting burned with her body.

The silhouette burned until there was literally nothing left of it. Tails was able to move his body, he started to cry in fear. Sally comforted Tails while he cried in her arms, getting her jersey soaked in tears and snot.

"W-what was that thing, Sally?"

"I don't think I even want to know, Tails."

Sally slept with Tails for the remainder of that night. When the sun rose, Sally woke up before Tails did. She remember what happened last night, noticing the broken lantern on the floor. Sally cleaned up what remained of the lantern and the burn marks off the floor just as Tails woke up.

As Tails rubs his eyes, he tells Sally good morning. Sally asks Tails if he remembered last night, but all Tails said was he had a bad dream but she saved him. Tails now believes it was just a dream, but Sally knows it was real, even though she was happy that Tails is safe because of her, she still wonders who, or better yet what, was that thing.
