"We have a surprise for you" Edward says with a smile on his face as Bella looks confused.
"What do you mean?" She asks raising her eyebrow as she looks around the room seeing the Cullens have smiles on their faces. Edward nods towards the door before Bella turns around with a gasp. "Brianna?"
Brie leans against the door "The one and only" she smiles as she steps forward the same time as Bella runs over to her and holds her tight.
"What the hell?! Why didn't you tell me you were coming?" Bella says as her and her cousin pull apart from each other.
"Well then that wouldn't be the point of a secret then would it? Brie smiles as her cousin pulls her into another hug. "Missed me that much, huh?" She jokes before pulling away from Bella and then walks up to Alice then Rosalie for a hug.
"Does Charlie know you are here?" Bella asks as she moves towards Edward who puts his arm around her shoulder.
"You still call Uncle Charlie by his name? What happened to calling him dad?" Brie says, as she puts her small reunion to a halt. Before Bella could speak "Yeah he knows I am in town. Had to speak to him first before coming here or I'd be homeless for a few weeks"
"Don't be silly, your family. You are welcome to stay here anytime" Esme says with a smile as Brie side hugs her.
"And thats why your my favourite vampire mom" Brie smiles as she plops herself down on the couch.
"Theres another?" Esme raises an eyebrow while Brie makes a face as if she was thinking about it. Esme takes a pillow from the other couch and throws it at her.
Brie puts her arms up in defence "Hey I am joking. What sort of welcome is this?"
Bella leaves Edwards side and sits herself down next to Brie. "So how comes you are here anyways?"
Brie makes an O with her mouth "Am I not allowed to visit my cousin, no?" Before she waits for Bella's response she puts the pillow from her lap to the seat next to her and stands up "Well this was short and sweet but I better go before missing the next flight out of here"
Bella grabs her wrist and pulls her back down next to her on the couch "You know thats not how I meant it. I am glad you are here Brie"
Brie smiles next to her "Aww I missed you too Bells. So this wasn't a wasted journey after all" Brie smiles at Edward who just laughs at the two of them.
Esme just shakes her head at the two "So Brianna. Are you hungry?"
"Starved" Brie stands up and follows Esme to the kitchen. Esme brings out some meat from the fridge and puts it down in front of Brie. She looks up "I hope that ain't human" she jokes as Esme laughs.
"No its veal. Your favourite from the last time I can remember"
Brie smiles at Esme "Have I told you are my favourite" she says holding onto Esme's hand.
"Once or twice" Esme says as she starts to prepare the veal.
"Remember I like mine well done. Not rare how you's like it" Brie jokes as she walks out of the kitchen and joins the others in the living room. Brie knows about vampires and werewolves. Bella keeps her up to date on what's happening back in Folks when Brie isn't around. At first she was a little spooked and she couldn't wrap her head around how Bella was so calm around vampires but she could understand how much Edward means to her and how much Edward cares about her. She got used to being around them herself whenever she came to visit. They treated her like she was their own and vice versa.
After her meal, Bella took Brie upstairs into Edwards room for a catch up. Brie takes a look around "So this is the famous Edward Cullen's bedroom. A lot of girls have been dying to be in here. I can't believe I am one of those girls who made it here " Brie mocks as she acts like Jessica, who she knew had the biggest crush on Edward.
Bella laughs "Can you be serious just for a few minutes please. I need to catch you up on a lot thats happened"
"Okay, Okay" Brie sits down on the bed and gives it a feel with her hands "Well at least I know my cousin is getting some in a comfy bed. Oh my god how comfy is this" she falls back onto the bed.
"Brie seriously" Bella warned as Brie sighs before sitting back up and facing Bella.
"So whats been going on then?" Brie asked looking up at Bella.
"Edward proposed to me"
"What?'" Brie said as she looked gobsmacked "Oh my god lets see the ring?" She said pulling at Bella's left hand, assuming she said yes.
"I don't have the ring on" Brie looks up from Bella's hand. "I said no"
"Are you crazy? Why did you say no? I thought you loved Edward? What did he do? I'll kick his ass" Brie says standing up from the bed ready to fight.
"Thats impossible Brie, he could kill you in a heartbeat if he wanted to"
"He could try" she says crossing her arms as Bella gives her a serious look "Well god loves a trier" Brie sits back down "So you going to tell me why you said no?"
"He said it in front of Jacob while he was standing behind me before I could answer Jacob ran off looking really hurt, I tried to chase after him but Edward stopped me"
"Oh, so the Edward, Bella, Jacob saga continues then" Brie says as she knew how obsessed Jacob was with her cousin. She found it adorable but also annoying as she knows Bella would always pick Edward over Jacob and he is still trying to stand a chance with her. I mean if it was up to Brie she would of picked Jacob as she always found him hot. But personal preference, you know? "Would you of said yes if Jacob wasn't there?"
Bella shrugs her shoulders "I don't know? Probably not. If I was going to say yes to him then I would want to know firstly if I was to marry him would he change me into a vampire after the wedding"
"You still want to become one of them?" Brie asked her cousin. She never found that a good idea when Bella first told her but then again if your gonna spend your life with someone who is going to live forever then she would need to change eventually or he's still going to be around when she's gone.
"Ive made my choice. I want to be with Edward. But that means I would need to become one if that was to happen"
"If thats what you want to do then I'll stand by you, whatever decision you make but if you want it your way then make an ultimatum. You tell him you'll marry him, only if he turns you into a vampire after the wedding. That way he gets what he wants which is to marry you and then you get what you want which is to become a vampire" Brie shrugs her shoulders "Sorted"
"Will take a lot more than marriage to convince Edward to turn me into a vampire"
"Have his babies?" Brie suggested as Bella gives her a look "Oh yeah I forgot. Well I can't tell you other than what I've already told you. Just stand your ground, no vampire, no marriage"
Before Bella could answer her, Edward shouts from downstairs "Bella you better hurry up or you are going to be late for school"
Bella opens the door "Wait aren't you going to school with me?" She leans against the door as Brie stays sitting on the bed.
Edward is seen standing on the stairs looking up at Bella I am not going in today, got stuff to do" Bella was going to question him again but Edward interrupted him "Come on or you'll be late. Brie can come as well I'll drop her off at Charlies after"
"That will be that then" Brie says walking passed Bella who follows her. Edward meets her at the bottom of the stairs with her bag which he hands down to her which she then thanks him with a kiss before heading out the door, not without saying goodbye Esme and Carlisle first. Rosalie and Alice had already left to go to school while Emmett and Jasper stayed back as they must of not been going for the same reason Edward wasn't.
The car ride to school was quiet. They got there in under 10 minutes but those 10 minutes felt like hours.
Edward abruptly looks up and stiffens. Hearing something. Bella looks at him asking him what was wrong "If I asked you to stay in the car, would you?" Bella looks at him, concerned, then pulls open her door "Of course not"
Bella and Edward emerged from the Volvo with Brie to see Jacob climb off his motorcycle and stride toward them. He was wearing a tight black t-shirt, grease stained jeans. No jacket in the cold. Of course he was like a personal furnace, he would never be cold. Brie was surprised that he was wearing clothes cause the last time she saw him he was in shorts with no top on in the freezing cold.
Jacob's hard expression causes other students to give him a wide berth. He looks almost dangerous. But Bella is delighted to see him "Jake!" Edward subtly protectively pulls Bella back. Students watch from a distance, out of earshot.
"Just checking to see if you're still human" Jacob concentrates on something, and suddenly Edward seems to be distressed "I'm coming here to warn you. If your kind come on our land again..."
Bella shoots her head towards Edwards "Wait, what?"
"You didn't tell her?" Jacob looks at Bella's reaction and knows that Edward has been keeping stuff from her
"Just leave it alone, Jacob" Edward glares at Jacob, trying to warn him to shut his mouth.
"Tell me what?" Bella looks between Jacob and Edward waiting for one of them to speak.
Edward began to speak while still staring at Jacob "Emmett and Paul had a misunderstanding, there is nothing to worry about"
Jacob scoffs "Listen to you. Did you lie to get her out of town, too?"
"You should leave. Now" Edward tried to warn him again. Brie watched on as the tension between the two was really uncomfortable and she felt uncomfortable just watching.
"She has a right to know" Jacob looks at Bella before looking back at Edward "She is the one the red-head wants"
"Victoria? Alices's vision" Brie hears Bella speak up. She remembered her talking about Victoria, something about her wanting revenge on Edward for killing her 'mate' as thats what they called them.
"I was trying to protect you" Edward said trying to explain himself but Bella wasn't having any of it.
"By lying to me" Edward stays silent "We're gonna talk about this" Bella turns to Jacob "But you. Why haven't you called me back?"
Jacob shakes his head "I had nothing to say" Brie could feel for Jacob just a little bit, it can't be easy feeling rejected but on the other hand he keeps doing it to himself.
Bella fought back "Well, I have tons"
Edward could see what she was thinking "Hold on. Hey. Bella" Edward said trying to stop her.
"Edward, you have to trust me"
"I do trust you." Edward looks at Jacob "It's him I don't trust"
Bella just looks at Edward; strong, independent, not about to acquiesce. Finally Edward lets go of her. She jogs to Jacob. Climbs on the back of his bike. Jacob grins. "Lose the grin, Jacob. We're just going for a ride"
"Hold on tight" He kick starts the bike, then roars off with Bella on the back.
Edward watches them go as Brie steps next to him "Well hello to you to Jacob. Nice to see you again. Yeah missed you too" Brie rolls her eyes. "He just completely ignored the fact I was here"
Edward just stares on "Wouldn't take it personally. He's only got one thing on his mind. And he ain't getting it"
Brie crosses her arms and looks on as well "So what really happened with Emmett and that Paul guy? So even is he?"
"He's part of Sam's pack. Victoria was running in between our territories while both us and the wolves were chasing after her. Emmett got too carried away and thought he was going to catch her and he was about to enter their territory but Paul intervened and clashed with Emmett pushing him into the stream. Bella probably already told you but we made a treaty with them we couldn't feed on any humans or turn anyone into vampires" Was that why Edward is hesitant about turning Bella into a vampire, cause that would break the treaty? Brie thought as she listened on "And the vampires were never to trespass on Quileute land. Carlisle agreed to these terms and proposed adding the concept of mutual secrecy: The Quileutes would not be able to tell anyone the true nature of the Cullens, and vice versa. Thats why no one knows about either of us. Its against the treaty if their one of us exposes the other"
"Is that why you don't want to turn Bella into a vampire?" She says the word vampire quietly so no one could hear her.
"I couldn't care less about the treaty, but we need to honour it for Carlisle's sake. But I don't want this life for her, I want her live a long happy one. I didn't get the choice to become what I am but I am giving her that choice. I have done a lot of killing over the years and I have regretted a lot of the killings that I done. I don't want her to feel the same regret that I did"
Brie could understand that maybe Edward wasn't being selfish. But it is Bella's decision to become one if she wants but what does that mean if she does become a vampire, the treaty gets broken and then what? War between Vampires and Werewolves? Brie's thoughts get interrupted. "C'mon I'll take you to Charlie's. When Bella gets back you can tell her we are going our hunting see if we can spot Victoria and stop her once and for all before things get ugly" Brie nods as her as her and Edward walk back to the car.
