An amalgamation of franchises that I experimented on.

I can't believe this is happening! This is the day!

These were Ruby Rose's thoughts right now. She had just graduated from the Digital Combat School of File City: Vale Branch a few weeks ago and was just starting to take on missions herself.

Remnant had come into contact with the Digital World a few decades ago, in the form of an explosion. Multiple creatures known as Digital Monsters were having a war and duking it out, when one powerful Digimon threw an attack so strong that it cut into dimensions, bleeding onto the world of Remnant.

At first, Remnant was overwhelmed, while they were already having enough trouble with Grimm, they were absolutely getting destroyed by champion-level Digimon. While it looked like humans and faunus were close to getting wiped out of existence, a group of powerful digimons called the Royal Knights contacted and saved them. From there, they have formed an alliance and fought digimons that have gone rogue and fought within the war itself.

Years have passed and they have won. But unfortunately, it had its consequences. Data was so very little there that the digimons were running out of resources and fading out of existence. While there are still Digimon that can live outside and out in the wilds, there wouldn't be millions of them. To combat this, multiple researchers and Digimon have formed a team to make sure that the Digimon live.

This came to the invention of Digi-Cards.

Digi-Cards are exactly what you think of them, Digital Cards. Cards that feed into a private server that's exclusively made for data for digimon to use. The Digimon made this into their home and in exchange, will help Digi-Card users in battle, especially when evil Virus type digimon lurk around, planning to cause chaos.

Now, obviously, one doesn't just get a Digi-Card that easy. There are multiple tests and lessons and it takes years to even receive an official one. This included a lesson on the different types of digimon, finding one for a partner, forming a bond with them, and training them – the works. The point is, it's really really difficult to obtain an official, personal Digi-Card.

There are multiple ways of obtaining a Digi-Card one of them being a government worker, like someone being observed by government officials for a few months, and getting their government Digi-Card for work. While it says months, it usually takes years because you need to earn the trust of these government officials to know that you're actually deserving and worthy of having a card. As multiple attacks have already been performed by unsavory individuals and groups – destroying cities and causing mayhem, that's how powerful Digimon really are.

The other is going through a combat school, where you'll be trained to eliminate Digimon that is causing trouble to the people and are hired to stop them from causing casualties. This is the method that Ruby went through and completed.

She had just taken on her first mission; that being hunting down a rogue Digimon that is killing the other Digimon for their data. As she was walking through the streets, she looked at the posters on the walls and windows of the city. More specifically, she looked at one.

The Vytal Festival. Or rather, the tournament. It was an event and a celebration of the coexistence of Digimon and humanity alike. Tamers from all over Remnant gather here to showcase/show off their strength and whoever wins, gets titled to be the Tamer of the Year. It is an honor to even attend and participate in the tournament. It is also Ruby's dream to be there one day.

She can also meet so many strong people and their Digimon there! There was Maria Calavera and her MetalPhantomon, her uncle and his BlackWarGreymon. There were even the Arcs who are known for all of its members having holy type Digimon including Gallantmon. Gallantmon! Rumors say that the original was a member of the Royal Knights itself! So cool!

She had just left the city and arrived at the area but no one was there except for in-training Digimon. The area she went in was a field. This is an area marked by the government as to where students who enrolled in school will try to pick their Digimon and bond with them. While technically, a student can choose their Digimon to bond with anywhere in Remnant, it is more often than not, dangerous and so, they have designated areas filled with baby and in-training Digimon for the students.

She thought of hiding and waiting for the culprit to show up and ambush it. Thinking this was a brilliant plan, she did it.

After waiting for a few minutes, she finally found her target, a bat-like digimon came out of the shrub and attacked the surrounding Digimon.

A DemiDevimon! Ruby thought excitedly, she finally found her target. As her enemy was just about to finish off one of the Digimon, she came out and intercepted it.

"Come out, Palmon!" she took out her card and as it glowed, a light came out of it and formed a silhouette. As the light faded, a Digimon appeared. It is a green, bipedal, Mandrake-like Digimon with a tail and small bumps lining her back. It has large, root-like feet and foliage-like hands. Each hand has three purple-tipped vines that act like fingers. The top of her head is adorned with a pink and yellow flower with a long, yellow stamen with a red tip.

"Hello, Ruby! Is this the one?" Palmon asked. She was as excited as her tamer, this is their first-ever journey into becoming one of the best!

"Yup! Let's do this, Palmon!" Ruby agreed.

"Alright, Plant Shock!" Palmon yelled and summoned multiple ivy vines to attack DemiDevimon.

"Argh!" DemiDevimon grunted from the hit. It continued to be hit a few more times until it finally got used to its attack patterns and started to dodge. As it was dodging, it prepared a counter-attack of its own.

"DemiDevi Claw!" DemiDevimon yelled and closed in. DemiDevimon was about to hit Palmon but Palmon summoned multiple vines to block it.

"AGH!" however, despite the block, Palmon was still blown away from the hit.

"Palmon!" Ruby shouted with worry in her voice.

"You will not get in the way of my prey! This is what you get for interrupting my attack," DemiDevimon said.

"We will stop you! Right, Palmon?" Ruby said with a smile.

"Right!" Palmon said as it got up.

"You think you can beat me? You're wrong! Demi Dart!" DemiDevimon scoffed and attacked. A syringe was summoned and DeviDemimon threw it in the direction of Palmon. Palmon used Thorn Throw and thorns were shot in the direction of the syringe to intercept it.

"Now it's my turn! Root Breaker!" Palmon attacked DemiDevimon using an ivy and drained energy from him.

"OW! Why you!—Bat Flutter!" DemiDevimon summoned multiple bats and attacked Palmon.

The two rookie Digimon kept fighting and brawling. Palmon's main attack was Root Breaker which attacks her opponents and drains the energy out of them. While DemiDevimon's main style of attack was using Bat Flutter to distract and DemiDevi Claw for melee and Demi Darts for range.

The fight went on for a few minutes until DemiDevimon got too tired from having its energy drained and collapsed. Ruby went to Palmon to check if she's okay.

"It's fine, Ruby. I can still go on," said Palmon.

"No… this can't be happening," said DemiDevimon faintly. "I can't die. I can't have this happen to me yet."

DemiDevimon looked around the area and found a Koromon, bouncing around. It probably thought that it was over or that it wanted to watch the fight. Too bad for Koromon. Today is its last day.

"Demi Dart!" DemiDevimon threw one big syringe straight into Koromon and killed it.

"Ah!" Koromon grunted and immediately evaporated into data.

"NOOO!" Ruby screamed and tried to stop DemiDevimon but it was too late. DemiDevimon has consumed the data already.

"Yes! This is it!" DemiDevimon laughed as it felt the power coursing through it. That Koromon's data was the last few bits it needed to…

"DemiDevimon digivolve to… Devimon!" DemiDevimon's figure turned to light and grew. The light continued to grow until it faded out to reveal a figure. It has completely black clothing, fingers elongated into claws, devil's horns, tattered wings, and skulls on its shoulder and knee. It has the deep red bat-like symbol on its chest and on its left boot. It also wears belts around its lower torso, left leg, right upper arm, and left forearm, gauze bandages around its right forearm and left hand, and a skin-tight balaclava that only reveals its mouth and red eyes.

"I feel… euphoric. What an interesting turn of events. Don't you think so, child?" Devimon said calmly.

He feels… different. Ruby thought. The way Devimon spoke to her was like an adult asking a child a grown-up question they weren't supposed to understand. As if he was just looking for an answer – it doesn't matter whether or not it's the right one. Well, it doesn't matter. I have to beat him! Ruby thought seriously. This wasn't just any starter mission now, Devimon is a champion-level Digimon.

"Palmon, let's go!" Ruby called out.

"Alright, take this! Root Breaker!" Palmon attacked using her ivies. Just as it was about to make contact with Devimon…

"Leather Wing."

Devimon caught it using its wing. Palmon tried to take it back but Devimon's grip was too tight.

"Is that all?" Devimon said with genuine disappointment in his voice.

"What?!" Ruby and Palmon were shocked. How? Devimon just digivolved a few minutes ago! It should still be a bit weak, trying to get used to its strength. Or is it actually trying to get used to it, and champions are just that powerful?

"Hmm," Devimon hummed. "What if I… did this?"

Suddenly, a dark aura came from the hand of Devimon. It was the same hand that caught Palmon's vines. Palmon immediately felt pain and cut off the connection between her and her vines.

"What was that?!" Palmon questioned warily.

"That, child, was Deadly Nail," Devimon answered.

"Do you see now? You are no match for me in this form. Better to give up your lives now and die quick, than anger me so and suffer slowly," Devimon smirked and declared an ultimatum to Ruby and Palmon.

"I will choose neither! I will stop you!" Ruby shouted. While this may not have gone smooth to her liking, she can't stop now! She has to stop him, who knows what'll happen if he got loose.

The two of them – Ruby and Palmon – fought Devimon wholeheartedly. The both of them did their best with Ruby trying to distract Devimon and Palmon using every move she has with Root Breaker being her main attack to drain Devimon's energy.

They fought for what seemed like forever but unfortunately, Devimon was bored and had enough.

"That's quite enough now, you bore me," Devimon said and used Death Hand to blow away Palmon and separate her from Ruby.

"Palmon! Get away from her!" Ruby ran to Devimon and tried to attack…

"Insolent pest!" however, Devimon just kicked her out of the way. Ruby slid to the ground and groaned in pain.

Palmon tried to crawl into Ruby's way, but Devimon stepped into her back to make her stay.

"Now," Devimon smiled sadistically. "Let's make you squeal, shall we?"

But before Devimon could do anything to Palmon…

"Fist of the Beast King!" a lion's head made up of aura came up and punched Devimon's face. He went flying from the impact.

"Who?" Ruby questioned. Her answer came in the form of a girl that had long and wild blonde hair that jumped in front of her. She wears a tan jacket that bares her midriff, with golden brown piping and short, puffy sleeves with black cuffs that feature two gold buttons. Underneath this, she wears a low-cut yellow crop top. She also wears black shorts with a brown belt on them. This was Yang-Xiao-Long, Ruby's sister from another mother, literally.

"Hey, Ruby!" Yang looked behind her and grinned. Yang also graduated two years earlier and has been taking on missions since.

"Are you okay, young Ruby?" asked a deep gravelly voice. Ruby looked behind her and smiled.

"Hello, Leomon!" Leomon is a muscular lion-man with orange fur, yellow mane, yellow fur on its legs and the tip of its tail, blue eyes, black nose and mouth, five fingers on its hands and feet, black claws, black ear tips, and scars on its arms, left foot, and the left side of its face. Its ears are on top of its head. It wears a golden earring on its left ear, a collar with a blue gem in the middle and multiple red teeth around it, black pants with yellow cords forming multiple "X" on its side, a black belt with a square metallic buckle on its waist, three others on its left arm, another in its left hand, and another in the pant leg. It carries its sword in the back on its belt.

"Hey, what about me?" on Leomon's shoulder was Palmon. She was picked up by Leomon while Devimon was blown away.

"Now that Yang's here, we'll be fine," Ruby giggled.

"What? Do you think just because someone else showed up, you've won? We'll see about that," Devimon groaned before he got up and prepared to attack.

"Leomon, think can you handle him?" Yang asked Leomon.

"Please do not underestimate me, Young Yang," Leomon answered, ignoring the "Hey!" from Yang. "I can handle this fiend just fine."

"Think you can handle me huh? I'll make you eat your words. Death Claw!" Devimon scoffed and attacked. He extended his arms and reached for Leomon. However…

"Lion Sword," Leomon cut off Devimon's arms and countered with an attack of his own.

"Argh!" Devimon cried out in pain and regenerated his arms. While he's a bit worried, technically they're both champion level now, so even though Leomon has more experience, they're still in the same ballpark. All he has to do is be a bit more careful and play defensive. As he was thinking this…

"Don't get distracted!" Leomon yelled and charged.

While the two champion-level Digimon were trading blows, the blonde turned to her silver-eyed sister.

"You should probably stay away from this, Rubes," Yang said seriously. "This mission just became a lot more dangerous because that guy digivolved. You're lucky I was walking here on my way back."

"What? No—I can handle it—" Ruby tried to retort in anger. This was her first mission! She can't fail now! How can she expect to hope to enter the Vytal Festival if she can't even do her first mission! However, before she can explain this, Yang interrupted her.

"No, you can't Ruby. I'm sorry, but this is beyond your level now. I know that this is probably your first mission, but Champion Level Digimon are serious business, Ruby. Please, just… let me handle this, okay?" Yang said calmly. While she was worried that she was too harsh, she can't risk endangering her sister in this.

"Yeah, I guess, alright," Ruby said in disappointment. She just took on her first mission and already failed? This sucks.

"Hey-hey, it's fine Ruby. You can just take on another mission! I'll even handle all the paperwork for you," Yang said with a smile, comforting her sister. She'll probably ask her uncle Qrow to handle it, he has a soft spot for his nieces, after all.

"Really?" Ruby looked up with puppy dog eyes.

"Grk!" there was a crudely drawn Yang being shot in the heart with an arrow. "Yeah, yeah of course!"

"Yay! Thank you, sis!" Ruby hugged her sister who hugged back.

Back to the two Digimon, Devimon tried to attack with Deadly Nail but Leomon intercepted it with Smashing Kick. Leomon then landed multiple punches to Devimon while Devimon blocked a few with his wings and countered with Death Claw.

The two kept at it for minutes. Exchanging blows, trading punches and kicks, aura blasts, and dark energy. The environment was completely destroyed. Trees were removed from their stumps, the ground had miniature craters in them, sticks, stones, and debris were everywhere. This was the power of Digimon who reached the champion level.

Eventually, the skies became orange and it turned into the sunset. The two Digimon have been fighting for quite a while now and looked quite beaten up. Devimon is covered in bruises and looked bent while Leomon had scratch marks across his body and some of his skin were burned from a dark aura.

Suddenly, Leomon straightened himself out and got into a stance. Devimon looked wary at this.

"You have been a great opponent, fiend," Leomon began. "However, this is the end."

"The end?" Devimon scoffed. "The end for you, you mean."

Leomon shook his head and called out. "Young Yang, let's go!"

Yang came out of her stupor and grinned. "About time! I was getting bored!"

Ruby looked curious at this. "Yang, what are you going to do?" While there have been cases of tamers fighting alongside their partners, it's still very dangerous to do so. Is she going to do the same?

"Just watch, Ruby," Yang looked back to Ruby while running to Leomon.

Yang took out her Digi-Card and called out. "Install! Leomon!"

Leomon turned into a bunch of data and formed a portal which Yang jumped right into. What came out of the portal was Yang but with a different appearance. She only had a black jacket on and was only wearing a sarashi to cover up her chest. She had black ripped shorts and a black belt with a sword on the back of it. Her right arm had a belt wrapped around it. She was also wearing lion-shaped earrings. She was also taller, locking in at 6"5 tall. (195.58 cm)

"Woah, what is that!?" Ruby exclaimed in shock. She had never seen this before. It wasn't covered in all her time at school.

"Impossible! Synchronization?!" Devimon yelled. He had seen this once before when he was still weak. It was part of the main reason why he wanted to get stronger in the first place, to avoid losing and not get scared of Synchronization, hoping to never encounter someone who could do this.

Synchronization is a phenomenon that takes place when both Digimon and its tamer combine to become stronger. It enhances all of their aspects by a lot. A champion synchronized with its tamer is as strong as five champion-level Digimon. However, it is very difficult to perform this. Both the tamer and Digimon must be in perfect sync mentally, physically, and emotionally. While it is technically possible to perform a Synchronization when you're not in perfect sync, doing so is unstable and dangerous for both the participants and you're more than likely to get yourself killed doing so.

"It's a surprise, we only got it a few days ago," Yang said with a grin. However, it looks like appearance isn't the only thing that changed about Yang. Her voice had an edge to it, her eyes had slits, even her face looked fiercer than usual with her teeth sharper than ever. She felt… primal.

Damn it! This is bad. The devil-like Digimon thought. Synchronization is basically a dead-end for him. Facing one without a plan is suicide. But luckily, the fool said that they only got this a few days ago, so she can't be that much dangerous. If he plays his cards right… the Devimon smirked at the possibility of consuming another Champion's data for himself.

However, just as Devimon was about to attack, he was sent flying.

Yang was right next to where Devimon was initially standing, with her right fist raised. "You were probably thinking that you'd have a chance against me, right?"

"Urgh…" Devimon crashed into multiple trees and grunted.

"You probably thought that since I only had this a few days ago… you'd have a chance, right?" Yang was walking slowly to Devimon with one of her eyes hidden by her hair and the other… was glowing red.

For the first time ever, Devimon felt scared. Don't get him wrong, he'd been afraid before, like almost dying multiple times before he even became a DemiDevimon and just generally afraid of being attacked. But all those times, he knew he had a chance. There was something in his body - his gut - telling him that he'll live and live to see another day. But this time, there was no such thing as chance, like his very being has accepted that he was trapped, that there is no escape…

That he is going to die. Right here. Right now.

"No! Wait!" Devimon cried out in alarm. He had his hands outstretched – as if to say to Yang to keep away. But Yang never did, she only kept getting closer and closer until—

"-Shin Jūouken!" Yang punches out an aura blast in the shape of a lion's head and shot it into Devimon, launching him into the air. (1)

"Hyakujūken!" Yang jumps high and closes up on Devimon. With aura covering her hands and feet, she launches out multiple attacks and punches. (2)

"And finally… Shishi Jūhazan!" as both the blonde and Devimon crashed into the ground, Yang jumped backward and took out her sword from her back, and did a single slash. And from that slash, a huge wave of energy came out of it and came into Devimon. (3)

And with that, Devimon was defeated and turned into data. Yang turned into light and separated into two figures; one being Yang Xiao Long and the other being Leomon. The blonde took out her card and absorbed the data of the recently dead Devimon into her card.

As Yang was standing there, she suddenly felt something tackle her back and she went skidding into the ground.

"Yang!" turns out, it was Ruby who did it.

"Ow!" Yang cried out in pain.

"Oops—sorry. But Yang! What was that! That was so coooool… Also are you okay? Also, can you teach me how to do that? Can you? Canyoucanyoucanyoucanyou—" at first Ruby apologized, but then she became excited and kept gushing over Yang.

"Ruby…Ruby—Ruby!" Yang grabbed her sister's shoulders and stopped her from practically vibrating all over the place.

"Ehe, sorry," Ruby apologized and hits herself softly on the head, winks, and sticks her tongue out. (4)

"Right… Okay, that was called Synchronization, and basically… that makes me more awesome than usual," Yang smirked with her eyes closed and pointed at herself with her thumb, chest puffed out.

Ruby deadpanned.

"Uhhh…. Ehe, sorry," this time, Yang apologized and hits herself softly on the head, winks, and sticks her tongue out.

"Anyway, Synchronization is when you pretty much combine yourself with your Digimon. Both you and your Digimon will feel each other's thoughts and emotions. Becoming stronger, faster… Becoming more than what you are," Yang explained.

"Woah… Do you think I can do that?" Ruby asked her sister.

"Of course, you can! You're the sister of the great Yang Xiao Long!" Yang boasted.

Ruby looked flatly at this but suddenly gained a gleam in her silver eyes. "Hmm… I really have the best sister, don't I?"

"Hm? Yeah, you do!"

"Yup, I have the super strong super great super sister… the bestest sister in the world, don't I?" Ruby sucked up to her sister, knowing full well that she's a narcissist.

"Yeah!" Yang smirked

"And that sister will buy me cookies and strawberries on the way back, wouldn't she?" Ruby kept goading her sister that's been told to have a huge head that'll keep sucking up compliments to grow even bigger.

"Yep!" This time, she grinned.

"And she'll swear her honor on it, right?" and, the final touch.

"Yeah—wait no!" As expected, she fell for the trap.

"Too late! You gotta buy me something on the way home now!" Bingo! The blonde was caught!

"Why you!" Yang ran after her sister who was laughing at her, both of them having smiles on their faces.

The screen turned dark to the blonde chasing her sister back home.

A/N: Holy… How did I ever manage to do this? The amount of BS and mental gymnastics I channeled to write this… Take my worldbuilding and explanation with a grain of salt, because I did not know how to incorporate and integrate the Digital World and its BS into Remnant, so forgive me if I botched a lot of info on this.

So yeah, an intrusive thought that came into my head a few hours after I published the Whitley chapter, and I thought to myself: Hm, why not? So yeah, I did this.

I'm running out of creative juices so the next chapters aren't going to be that good, and probably won't be published in the next few days/weeks because I haven't written anything yet. School has also started, so I'll be busier than ever.
