Disclaimer: I do not own RWBY.

"Next up on the arena is a duo battle!" Port shouted into the microphone.

Oobleck decided to take over the audience. "A duo battle – with a twist! Two teams will oppose each other… however! The duo will both be a member of the opposing teams! This means that a member from Team A will be representing Team B and vice versa!"

In the waiting rooms, Yang sucked air through her teeth. "Oooh, looks like I'll be joining Team JNPR for this duo, eh?" she looked at the bracket matches.

Blake nodded. "Mhm. And Ren will be with RWBY,"

"Welp, we'll be against each other, eh?" the blonde grinned. "No hard feelings when you lose, ok?"

Blake rolled her eyes as she curled her lip. "What makes you think you'll win?". This is one of the reasons she feels relaxed around her team. There will usually be banter around anything and everything.

The two talked a bit more until they finally separated to get into the waiting rooms.

"Oh god! I didn't know this was supposed to be the duo battle!" a worried and strained voice shouted in one of the waiting rooms.

"Relax, you'll be fine! Right, Renny?" an orange-haired girl bumped his shoulder. What a silly leader. What did their leader have to be afraid of? They crushed a Deathstalker as their first team kill! They're not supposed to be afraid of anything!

Ren nodded. While most people will see her as apathetic, she truly does care about her team. And she also believes that her leader shouldn't be so nervous.

"Nora's right, you don't have to worry about it. It'll be just like when we're sparring," Pyrrha comforted her leader.

"Still…"

The leader of Team JNPR's concerns were interrupted when Yang came through the door.

"Yoo-hoo! I'm here!"

"Ah, Yang! Is it time already?" Pyrrha queried. She was hoping that they could get a little more time so her leader can get ready.

"Yup! Blake's waiting by the locker room down the hall, Ren," Yang pointed her thumb behind her as Ren nodded.

"Woo-hoo! G'luck, Renny!" Nora did a little victory cheer in a cheerleader outfit. How she managed to do so, no one knew, and how she managed to change into it that quick and back, no one dared to ask.

As Ren left, Nora and Pyrrha turned to their leader.

"Are you going to be okay?" Pyrrha asked in concern. While she had the utmost confidence in her leader's skill, seeing as no one else was able to keep up with a stalemate to the champion, she could not help but worry.

"Fearless leader will be fine, Pyrrha," Nora waved her arm away. She didn't have anything to worry about; it was her fearless leader, after all!

"I'll be fine, Pyrrha. Thanks for the concern though," Pyrrha smiled in response and moved away.

"I'll see you later…" Pyrrha and Nora opened the door. The sounds of loud cheering from the audience outside echoed through the hallways.

"…Jeanne." She finished just as the door closed.

Jeanne nodded as she took deep breaths.

Okay. You're fine. You're gonna be fine, totally! It's not as if you've never agreed to this and only acquiesced due to peer pressure. It's not as if you're really so overwrought your vocabulary is becoming distended! No, perish the thought! You are a paradigmatic mademoiselle of the Arc ménage. Not to mention that you've already agreed to do this – and practiced for months, on top of that!

While Jeanne was having an internal panic attack, Yang was watching with amusement in her eyes. The brawler could not have the heart to tell that she was muttering her thoughts out loud. And as much as she wanted to hear all of her most likely embarrassing thoughts, she could not hear all of it apart from the words: 'mademoiselle', 'pressure', and 'ménage'.

"Uhhh… you gonna be alright, blondie?" Yang asked lightly.

The Arc flinched. "Huh? Yeah—yeah of course I am! I'm totally o-kay!" She nodded rapidly.

"Yeah, clearly not." Yang scoffed. "You look just like Ruby whenever she has to speak up on a group presentation," she shook her head.

"Anyway, whatever problems you have going on in that head of yours; better get it out of there. It'll just distract you from the fight. You know, the main reason why we're here?"

Jeanne nodded, a frown marring her face. "…still."

"Oh for goodness' sake! Pull yourself together, Jeanne!" Yang grabbed Jeanne's shoulders and shook her rapidly.

"You can't get cold feet now, okay? You've already entered this tournament, there's no going back now. You are a student of Beacon, a representative of it, and you can't go out there looking like you don't want to be there. The headmaster called us the future, and they are showing it off to everyone here. We are huntresses, the hero to the people and the bane of Grimm. You will not face fear when facing Grimm, and you will certainly not face fear when fighting other people, got it!?" She yelled right into her face.

"O-o-okay, got i-it!" The Arc said with swirls in her eyes, trying to balance herself properly. She didn't have to shake her that strong! In fact, she didn't have to shake her at all!

"Good, now come on, and let's win this!" Yang grinned but turned away at the last second.

"And also so mama can win some moolah," she murmured to herself.

Unfortunately, her murmurs were not quiet enough.

"Excuse me?" Yang winced and straightened up to slowly turn her whole body into her 'partner'.

"I said… let's win…hurrah…?" Yang uttered suspiciously.

Jeanne was silent for a few seconds, her face hidden as she was looking down on the floor.

"Uh… Jean—" Yang tried to speak but was interrupted.

"You made a bet, didn't you," Jeanne stated.

Yang backpedaled while raising her arms. "Whaaa? Noo… Yesss, yes I did," she gave up quickly and laid down her arms to the sides.

Jeanne kept staring.

Yang stared back.

Jeanne raised an eyebrow.

Yang broke eye contact and rolled her eyes. "Ugh, fine. Sorry, alright? I kinda sorta made a bet with my team – but especially Blake – that we'll win this round no problem,"

"You do realize you're representing team JNPR, our team, right?" the Arc deadpanned.

"So? It's fine… we'll win at the rematches anyway," Yang smirked.

"Oh?" Jeanne smirked back. "Alright, then. I'll cooperate with you for now, but don't think I'll take that challenge lightly,"

"Sure,"

"And Yang?"

"Hm?"

"Thanks,"

"Mhm."

A/N: The fight will be on a later chapter or maybe not, idk.
