She sat at the table, barely listening to Steve's voice as he reviews the mission in front of you guys.

"Hey, kid. You alright?"

She turned to look at Nat and forced a smile. "Yeah. Just thinking."

She nods, turning back around.

Crashing. Hit a wall. Right now I need a miracle. Hurry up now, I need a miracle.

Trying not to cry, she take a deep breath and look around the table.

Stranded, reaching out. I call your name but you're not around. I say your name but you're not around.

"Sam? You okay?"

She turned to look at Tony across the table. "Yeah I'm alright."

"Sam."

She didn't hear Steve call her name, already thinking too hard. She didn't see everyone in the room staring at her worriedly.

"Wanda, read her mind."

She does so, her hand glowing red.

*flashback in Sam's mind*

"Steve. Can I-"

"I'm training. Can it wait?"

"Yeah of course."

I need you

"Hey Tony. You free?"

"I can't leave this alone right now. I'll talk to you later."

"Oh okay."

I need you

"Natasha? Are you busy?"

"We both have a mission to go on or else Steve will kick our asses. We'll talk later, okay?"

She faked a smile. "Yeah yeah. No problem."

I need you right now. Yeah I need you right now.

*end flashback*

So don't let me. She remembers Bucky ignoring her. Don't let me. Loki's indifference. Don't let me down. Sam looks at Wanda, realizing now that she's in her head.

I think I'm losing my mind now.

She gasps, feeling tears well up in her eyes.

"Samantha…"

"Wanda what do you see?" Tony asked, somewhat forcefully. The rest of the avengers watch on, shocked, as both Sam and Wanda speak at the same time.

"It's in my head, darling, I hope. That you'll be here when I need you the most."

Sam fell silent, Wanda still reading her mind.

"So don't let me don't let me don't let me down. Don't let me down. Don't let me down."

"Sam," Natasha interjects quietly. "What's wrong?"

She shook your head, standing up out of her chair and backing away.

"You have to tell us," Rhodey demanded with care in his eyes.

"We cannot help if you do not," Loki continues.

She looked up at them, her chest heaving. "Running out of time. I really thought you were on my side. But now there's nobody by my side."

She turns and leave the room. The avengers stay silent, listening to her footsteps.

"What did she mean?"

Wanda was the one who answered.

"I think we've all screwed up. Big time."

Tony rolls his eyes. "Obviously. But what did we do?"

"How many of you remember brushing Sam off in the past like three weeks or so."

Everyone in the room has a face of guilt as they raise their hands. Steve, Tony, Natasha, Bucky, Loki, Wanda, Clint all looked at each other with grim realization.

"We screwed up."

Nobody bothered responding to Clint's point. He was right.

"But this didn't happen for too long right? There's been someone there for her at least?"

"Boss? Samantha is currently on the roof of the tower."

"SHIT!" came the collective yell as everyone realized exactly what she were going to do.

The case files forgotten, the team bolted out the door, her words still echoing in their heads.

I need you, I need you, I need you right now. Yeah, I need you right now. So don't let me don't let me don't let me down. I think I'm losing my mind now.

Wanda was the first onto the roof.

"Sam please!"

"It's in my head, darling."

She shakes her head as the rest of the avengers appear.

"Sam don't do it. We're sorry. We care about you so much. Please."

She shook her head. "No."

"YES!" Tony yelled, moving forward. "Yes we do care about you, so FUCKING much. We've just been shit at showing it, but please. Just come here."

She faltered on the edge for a second before falling back onto the roof.

Tony moved quickly, catching her and pulling her into a hug.

The rest of the avengers surrounded the two, dead silent as the weight of the moment finally was acknowledged.

"I'm so sorry. I'm sorry."

She opened her mouth to whisper. "I hope that you'll be here when I need you the most. So. don't let me, don't let me don't let me down. Don't let me down."

"We won't," came Natasha's reply from above her. "I promise. Never again."
