A/N: Oh my gosh... it's been 87 years. I haven't written in this fandom in a LONG time. Most of my fanfics are deleted except the original version of this. Yes, that includes Glow in the Dark and Pale. Speaking of Pale... it's still not a book LMAO. I have the whole book written, I just need to work on the last few drafts. But the more I clean it, the more it becomes a novella instead of a full novel. One day it'll happen. One day. But in the meantime, I figured I'd try and get back into writing by going back to my roots; fanfiction and total drama. With that being said, please enjoy this rewritten version of Summer Love! I personally loved the idea of this fanfic despite how cringy my writing was and still is.

Also, fun fact: I wrote the original when I was 13. I'm 21 now :)))

I'll try my best to update semi-regularly. But if you truly know me, I'm not the best at updating.

Potential TW: language, violence, abuse, maybe some sexy time (which the rating will then change), and probably more to come. I'll add TW's if needed in individual chapters.

Chapter One

Courtney's POV

You've got to be kidding me. This might be one of the worst days of my life and it's only eight in the morning. As much as I loved my family, this was not how I wanted to spend my summer. All my friends back home were going to the movies, exploring the city we've lived in for years, and preparing for college. Meanwhile, I was stuck in the boonies somewhere in America. My dad, mom, and I moved to Canada when I was three. It's all I've known. When I was ten my little sister, Kelsey, was born. I'm now seventeen, making her only seven. She's a cutie, I can't lie. It's mainly been her and I since she was ten months old. Our mom died from a car crash, leaving our dad to take care of us. He was always working so I took turns with a babysitter raising Kelsey.

"How much further?" Kelsey asked, saying what was on both of our minds. I smirked a bit, hearing my father's agitated sigh. This was the first time I've been to America since we first moved to Canada. Normally, our family comes up to visit us. But everyone is much older and my dad has been saving for a trip for over a year. It was bound to happen.

"Ask me again in five minutes."

Kelsey remained quiet for a few seconds before she opened her mouth, wanting to say more. Instead, my father turned the radio on, blasting her little voice away. I stifled my laugh. We've been driving for about two hours in the middle of nowhere. Before that we were on a plane for four hours. I'm tired of sitting and traveling already. Rolling down my window, I instantly regretted it. The smell of manure entered my nostrils, causing me to wrinkle my nose up with disgust while rolling the window up.

"Smell that? That's the real country!" My dad piped in.

"Smells like shit."

"That too." My dad chuckled. He glanced over at me, noticing my scowl. I didn't care if I ruined this trip with my attitude. I never agreed to this. I wanted to stay home or stay with a friend, instead I was yelled at and told to pack a suitcase. Now I'm smelling cow shit. My dad sighed at me, his expression softening. "Just... give it a chance, okay? This is my home."

"Canada is home." I argued back.

"I said mine, not yours. This is where our family originated from." My father looked back on the gravel road we've been riding for the past thirty minutes. It was nothing but field around us and some fences with occasional cows and horses. "One of my favorite things here is the sunset, it's breathtaking. One glance and you'll be begging for it to stay longer."

"It's just the sun setting like everyday."

"Not here." He smiled. I rolled my eyes before resting my head on the window. The car shook a bit violently from the bumpy road under us, causing my sister to giggle every few seconds, raising her arms in the air. She thinks it was a rollercoaster. I don't blame her. I felt as if my brain was going to fall out. After ten minutes, he turned down a long driveway that led up to a large farm house and barn. It wasn't anything modern but a true old fashioned 1800's farm house with a barn next to it along with a large field. Behind the house was cluttered with trees, leading into the woods. Across the driveway was another rocky one that led to a smaller house on the verge of collapse.

"Are we there yet?" Kelsey asked.

"Yes."

Kelsey let out a victory yell, happy to finally get out of this rented car. She threw her seatbelt off, ready to stretch her legs. As my dad pulled up to the house, I noticed two people on the front porch. One was a woman with her hair up in a loose bun, a flower themed dress with a dirty apron on. The other was a balding man with a mustache who wore a dirty button up and overalls. They were waving with large smiles on their faces. The pair were none other than my grandparents. I forced a smile as my dad put the car in park. He got out first, walking over to his mother and embracing her.

"Mama!" He said with a large smile.

"It's so nice to see you again, Johnathan." A few tears of happiness rolled down her face as she held him back tightly. It's been about two years since we've seen each other. My little sister got out of the car and ran up to my grandpa, who picked her up, swinging her around. Although they were both old, the couple had a bunch of energy. I began to walk up to the small group of people, keeping my distance.

"There she is!" My grandma exclaimed, noticing me. She walked over, pulling me into a tight hug. I forced another smile, gently patting her back.

"Hi grand-"

"God you've gotten so tall and beautiful! Ben, come look at her." My grandma gushed before pulling her husband over to me. My grandpa Ben smiled wide, adjusting his rounded glasses as he leaned very close to my face. I leaned back a bit, wanting some space. But they didn't fully understand as they both analyzed my face.

"Geez, she's starting to look like John here."

"Ben, don't call her a guy!"

"I'm not! She has his nose, look." He smiled before poking my freckled nose. That's when I forcefully pulled away and took a step back.

"Thank you." I said, not knowing how to respond. Everyone was quiet for a bit before my grandma gave a tiny smile, deciding to break the silence.

"Let's get your room set up." She walked over to the car, grabbing my suitcase. She motioned me to go follow her so I did. We entered through the kitchen through a screen door that was holding on for its life. Inside the kitchen was also a staircase leading to the second floor. To the left of the screen door was a half bathroom. If you continue through the kitchen, you go to the living room where there is an upright piano. Next to the piano was an archway which led into the dining room. On the other side of the dining room was the staircase and bathroom I mentioned earlier.

It was a weird layout, honestly.

Going upstairs, you were met with another bathroom straight ahead. To the left were two bedrooms and on the right side of the bathroom was another bedroom. I assumed I was sharing a room with Kelsey, great. Upon opening the door, I was right. I saw two twin sized beds, a vanity, and a bay window with a seating area. My grandmother put my suitcase down on my bed before heading towards the door.

"I'll let you unpack and gather your thoughts." She smiled before closing the door on me.

Okay, Courtney. You're stuck in the middle of nowhere. You have no cell service and I doubt my grandparents know what the hell wifi is. The closest normal looking town was at least thirty minutes away. What the actual fuck is your life right now?!
