Shadow the Hedgehog: Retribution

Ten Years after the Eggman Wars, a broken Shadow the Hedgehog wanders a deserted wasteland, looking for a way to end it all. However, everything changes when Shadow gets intercepted by a mysterious force.

1. The Storm

Chapter 1

"Maria!" Shadow slammed his fist against the ejection pod, tears rolling down his face. Maria prepared to pull the level that would jettison Shadow to the earth Below. "Please, Shadow... They need your help! Everyone's fate depends on you!" She pulled the level, and Shadow was sent into the depths of space, eventually landing on the earth below.

"Maria!"

Shadow was jolted awake from his nightmare by the roar of thunder outside the cave. In the dark, he stumbled over to the opening, finally leaning on it as he watched the pouring rain. He looked into the sky, the only light being the stars in the sky and the lightning. "Maria, I have failed you. I could not protect this planet, the same as I could not protect you". Shadow clenched his fists, a tear rolling down his face. "Tomorrow, I end it all. This world will no longer have to suffer my existence".
