"So, you mates have any plans on this fine Friday evening?" asked Fabian.
"Actually, there's a football game tonight against Duluth East," said James. "I'll actually be playing."
"And I'm cheering," said Camille. "Jo's supposed to as well, but she's currently in New Zealand filming her Chauncey Jackson trilogy as you probably know."
"What do you mean 'supposed to'?" asked Mick. "I mean, I know you Americans love school spirit, but what about those that don't have school spirit?"
"Actually Camille, what do you mean by you're cheering?" asked Jerome. "What about the others? What do they do in the stands? Just stand there and do nothing?"
"Oh no," said Camille. "I mean cheering as in cheerleading."
"Oh!" said Amber. "We have cheerleading back at our school too, but they weren't for football, it was just basketball and competition."
"Yeah, football doesn't have cheerleaders," said Mick.
"Yeah they do," said James.
"Okay, I'm gonna stop you right here before you two get in an argument," said Nina. "Mick is talking about the British football, AKA soccer, and James is talking about the American football.
"Oh!" said Lucy. "Duh!"
"Right, I forgot you guys called soccer football over in England," said James.
"It makes sense though, since you play soccer by kicking the ball with your foot," Kendall pointed out.
"Oh, I've always wanted to watch an American football match!" said Jerome.
"Well you get to today," said Logan.
"I can't believe I'm going to be attending my first American football match on my first day at an American school!" Mick exclaimed.
"I know," said Patricia. "Isn't this exciting."
"Good luck James," said Nina. "You too Camille."
"Aw, thanks Nina," said Camille. "Don't worry, I'll cheer Palm Woods to victory tonight."
After Big Time Rush performed the national anthem, the coach blew the whistle to signal the start of the game.
"We are! Palm Woods! Let's! Go! Wolves!" the cheerleaders chanted, as the Palm Woods players before running and tackling the Duluth East players.
"So what exactly is going on here?" asked Mara. "I've never watched an American football match before."
"Well Palm Woods has to move the ball to Duluth East's end zone so we can score a touchdown and help us get more points," Carlos explained.
"Yeah, I still don't get it," said Patricia. "Just let me know when to cheer."
...
After the game ended, with Palm Woods Academy winning, the gang went to Dairy Queen to celebrate.
"Best American football match ever!" said Fabian. "Well only American football match I've been to."
"I'm finally living out the American high school experience I've always wanted!" said Amber.
"I still don't understand everything, but it was awesome," Alfie commented, licking his spoon.
"Looks like the next thing on our list is to teach you guys American football," James teased. "Lucky for you, as you guys saw, I'm a wide receiver. I can teach you all about catching the ball."
"So, how often do these football matches happen?" asked Jerome.
"About every two weeks or so," Kendall responded.
"We have a schedule, but it could change depending on if we make regional championships or not," James added. "If we do, we can make the MSHSL playoffs."
"MSHSL stands for Minnesota State High School League, by the way," Carlos explained. "It's the association in charge of all Minnesota high school interscholastic activities."
"You Americans and high school sports," Patricia commented and shook her head.
"Well, we do love our sports," said Lucy. "Mostly football, but I guess that applies more to the south. Here in Minnesota, it's all about hockey."
"Well, football too, in fall," said Kendall. "Have you seen homecoming? It's literally centered around football. And a dance and spirit week, but the football game is the biggest deal."
"Yeah, what exactly is homecoming?" asked Fabian. "Who's coming home?"
"Alumni," said Carlos. "I don't about every school, but some former Palm Woods students actually come visit during homecoming week."
"We take homecoming pretty literally," Logan added.
"We should definitely propose to Mr. Sweet about having homecoming for Amun," Amber insisted.
"That defeats the purpose of this exchange program," said Nina. "Let's just keep things the way they've always been."
After the gang finished their ice cream, they headed back to school and did some studying before curfew.
"It's too bad Jo can't be here," said Kendall. "She would've really loved getting to know the exchange students."
"I feel bad for Patricia, she was probably very looking forward to being partnered with a celebrity," James commented.
"True, but if I had to hang out with her everyday, it would probably end up feeling like Jo's just an average lass," Patricia insisted.
"Well, that was one of the reasons why she decided to come here," said Camille. "After her New Town Middle contract ended, she was offered to do a spin-off, New Town High, but she declined and said she wanted to take a break and go back to school, but instead of returning home to North Carolina, she decided to go to the most prestigious boarding school in the world."
"I wish she never declined though, New Town High probably would've been a great show," said Alfie.
"They're still holding on to that idea," said Kendall. "They told Jo that any time she changes her mind, she can tell the creators and directors that she wants to do New Town High, so there's still a chance of your dream becoming reality."
"Besides, if Jo ended up doing New Town High, she wouldn't be our classmate, roommate-slash-neighbor, and friend," Lucy pointed out.
"I guess," said Patricia.
"But if she wanted to take a break from acting, why is she filming three movies right now?" asked Nina.
"It was a major movie role that she just couldn't decline," Kendall sighed, feeling upset by the topic of his now long-distance girlfriend but pulling himself together because the exchange students were just curious. After all, how often did they meet famous celebrities from their favorite TV shows? "The Chauncey Jackson movies will take her to the next level of her acting career. Just think Harry Potter. Everyone knows the Harry Potter movies and the lead actors are so well-known that they get roles written just for them."
"I guess fame really gets to you, huh," Amber commented.
"Jo's not even doing this for the fame or fortune, she's just really loved acting since she was a child," Kendall corrected. "In the beginning, she just wanted to do local community theater, but she was spotted by an agent and she soon started doing student films and other small productions in her hometown. That lead to Jo's agent soon submitting her for roles, and before she knew it, she ended up getting auditions for our favorite Kidzie Channel shows. She would always just be a one-time character, until her first major role, Hailey in The Saccharine Cruise Ship Chronicles. That was the role that eventually landed her on New Town Middle, which really started to kick off her acting career."
"Oh, The Saccharine Cruise Ship Chronicles!" Nina gasped. "I loved that show growing up!"
"Hailey's southern ways confused me but that didn't stop me from loving her so much that I dressed up as her for Halloween," said Amber. "Plus, I picked up a few southern phrases from her character. 'Sup y'all? Bless your heart."
"Nice impression," said Carlos.
"But even with New Town Middle being so popular it won three Tween Choice Awards, Jo was still a B-lister," Kendall went on. "This movie deal could turn her into an A-lister, not that she minds about what list she is, but the more important a deal is, the more acting roles she could get, and that's what she really wants, to get more acting roles."
"Wow," said Nina.
"She actually didn't want to do the movie at first, because she wanted to be with me," Kendall continued. "But I encouraged her; opportunities like that only come once in a lifetime. She had to take it, otherwise, who knows when she's gonna get this great of an opportunity again?"
"Wow Kendall, you sound like an amazing boyfriend to Jo," said Fabian.
"You two are very lucky to have each other, and this is coming from someone who used to sneak into his sister's bedroom to kiss her Saccharine Cruise Ship Chronicles posters." said Jerome.
"Hey, Kendall used to do the same!" Katie admitted. "He once cut out Jo's face from Pop Tiger and put it next to his pillow."
"Katherine Alexa Knight!" Kendall scolded his baby sister.
"Kendall Donald Knight!" Katie scolded back. "Maybe this will teach you not to sneak in your sister's room and kiss her posters when she's in the bathroom."
"Okay kids," said Mrs. Knight, emerging from her room. "It's nine o'clock and you know the drill."
"Good night guys," said Katie, as she disappeared behind the doors to the room she shared with her mom.
A/N: The Saccharine Cruise Ship Chronicles is supposed to be a parody of The Suite Life on Deck.
