DRAGONs, Transform and roll out!
Chapter 1
Hey, y`all! Just to get this out of the way, I don`t own Transformers or Cross Ange, okay? They belong to their respective properties, Hasbro and Sunrise. Now, this has been going in my head for a while, but I'm new to this fanfic business. I appreciate any constructive criticism, so feel free to help. Now, ladies and gentleman, fasten your seatbelts.
Earth. The planet of the homo sapiens, otherwise known as humans. A world where many of the inhabitants dreamed of exploring the stars. A world where they constantly asked themselves "are we alone in the Universe?" A special group of men eventually succeeded in the former, and were hailed as heroes, but the notion of life existing in other worlds beyond our own was ignored and even scoffed at, with a majority of the populace believed that our world was the only one capable of sustaining life.
Little did they know, however, how wrong they were.
For this world has received the visit of beings from another planet. These creatures were called "giant robots" by the locals, but they were actually Autonomous Robotic Organisms and came from the planet Cybertron. They possessed a very unique ability: to scan a vehicle, from Earth or otherwise, and transform their bodies into the form of the vehicle scanned, gaining the advantage of performing feats the real vehicles would be incapable of. With this ability, they remained hidden for years, with only some humans being lucky enough to see their real forms.
Sadly, the Transformers` history is not a happy one. These aliens came from a world devastated by war, a million-year spanning conflict between the heroic Autobots, led by the wise and noble Optimus Prime, and the tyrannical Decepticons, led by the ruthless, bloodthirsty, power- mad Megatron. One group believing that freedom was the right of all sentient beings, and the other desiring only one thing: dominion over all that existed, and would go to any lengths to achieve that goal. Their conflict eventually escalated above the stars, and ended up following them to Earth. The Autobots formed a friendship with a small group of humans, while the Decepticons only saw humans as inferior and weak, desiring to exterminate them and take the planet for themselves.
Fortunately, after a long time of battle, the day the Autobots only dreamed of and thought of as fantasy finally arrived. The war ended, the Decepticons were defeated, Megatron was killed, and they acquired the means to revive their planet to how it was before. However, it was not without costs, as they had to say goodbye to their human friends, and Optimus was forced to sacrifice himself to fully restore the planet to life.
Today was a special day, though. In the new Autobot base, the Autobots` human allies were preparing for a visit from their friends on Cybertron. Since Megatron`s final defeat, the `bots that left were extremely busy with the reconstruction of their home. However, they managed to find some time to visit their old friends. The humans were looking forward to this visit, and many were anxiously waiting for the arrival of the aliens they came to see as friends and even family.
Some more than others in fact.
"Come on, Ratchet! Are you done?! Are they coming? Is Bulkhead with them?!"
The human whom those words came from was Miko Nakadai, a young teenage girl with pigtails and red- pink hair dye. She was wearing a pink shirt under a blue tank top with boots that went to her knees. Miko was the most upbeat and adventurous member of the group, who always wanted to be in the middle of the action, which the Autobots had no shortage of. Unfortunately, her hot headed and impulsive nature caused her to risk her own life and sometimes even be captured by the `cons, and that had the effects of driving her friends up the wall. Still, she was a good person at heart and genuinely cared about her teammates, and once she acquired one of the Cybertronian relics, the Apex Armor, she became a valued member of the team. Today, she was waiting for her alien friends` arrival and could not wait to see them, especially her friend Bulkhead, again.
Meanwhile, Ratchet, a large `bot with white and orange paintjob, and the team`s medic, was busy working on the Groundbridge. The device was constructed as a means for Cybertronians to tele transport themselves from one place to another, a quicker alternative to dislocate in their vehicle forms. There was a bigger version called a Spacebridge, applying the same principle to the entire Universe, but since it was currently off -world, he had to make do with what he had. A task that was already taxing without the girl`s pestering.
"I still need to make the calculations necessary for the bridge to work, so it will probably take a while. Why don`t you go play with your videogame or watch those Monster cars on the TV?" He suggested as calmly as he could, hoping this would convince her to leave him to his work. Unfortunately for him, that would not be the case.
"First, it`s Monster Trucks." Miko corrected, before adding" and second, you mean the car videogame that we played for a gazillion number of times? Laame. How long is that gonna take?" She whined.
"Probably as long as you complain, which I estimate will be all day long." Ratchet said sarcastically, before looking to the other humans in the room." Can any of you keep her occupied so I can continue my work?" He asked, which seemed almost like a plea.
One of the other two humans in the base, a tall, dark-haired boy, with a gray long-sleeved shirt and blue cargo pants, approached her. This was Jack Darby, partner of the Autobot Arcee, and the most level headed of the group.
"Come on, Miko. Let Ratchet work. If you keep egging him on, he won`t concentrate." He told her.
"Aw, but I`m just so excited! I mean, we haven`t seen them in, like, forever! Come on, Jack. You know you want to see Arcee too." She spoke.
"Yeah, I do. But I know that if we leave Ratchet alone, there`ll be less chance for him to break something."
"I may be an old bot, but my hearing sensors are still functioning very well!" Ratchet protested.
"And besides, it`s not like they disappeared forever. We still have Ratchet, and the communication from the base allows us to talk to them." Rafael, a short, spiky-haired boy with glasses, wearing a long-sleeved, light brown shirt under an orange top and black cargo pants, said, coming closer to them.
"Raf, talking to someone on the phone and meeting them face to face are not the same thing." The girl said. "And Ratchet is too much of a grump to actually have fun. No offense." She told the doctor.
"None taken." He growled in an unamused tone.
"First, you interrupt him, now you`re offending him? Don`t blame him if he suddenly decides to kick you out of the base", Raf scolded humorously.
"Wha-I wasn`t—Ugh! Fine!" She huffed.
"Oh, look! He`s done." Jack said, pointing at the direction of the portal.
"Really?! Let me see! Let me see!" She exclaimed, turning to look with a big smile on her face… only to see Ratchet grumbling, but no Space Bridge.
Turning around, she saw Jack with his arms folded and a smirk on his face. "Gotcha."
With an annoyed pout, she smacked him in the arm. As they continued bickering, Ratchet stood by, working on the portal. He took a glance at the children, and with a sigh, murmured,
"How did they manage to tolerate these humans?"
Meanwhile, on Cybertron,
"Come on, Arcee. Are you done? Can we go now?!" A large, green robot, Bulkhead, and one of the members of the special group of Autobots known as the Wreckers, said.
"Why does that line sound so familiar ?" Arcee, a dark blue, female Autobot, thought to herself. "Almost there, Bulk."
After the battle against Unicron, after which Optimus had to sacrifice himself to return life to Cybertron, the Autobots had continued the work of rebuilding. For the most part, aside from a few remaining Decepticon remnants, the task wasn`t very hard. Now that the war was over, they didn`t have much to worry about.
"Just a few more adjustments and it`s ready." Knockout, a red robot with sports car parts in his body, informed. He used to be a Decepticon, but had since joined the Autobots. At first, it was to save his own hide, but he had since become more deeply invested in the cause. "I still don`t get why I can`t go along, though." He said.
Then, a red and yellow Autobot, Bumblebee, the team`s scout and one of their most valued soldiers, spoke. "Because, Knockout, the humans and Ratchet don`t know that you joined us yet. They might not react well to you. So, we want to prepare them for when you come in." The scout explained.
"Sure. This has obviously nothing to do with me wanting to go on my joyrides." Knockout drawled sarcastically.
"A little." Bee smirked.
"I still don`t get why you`re so eager for that." Arcee asked. She was so far the only female on the team, and one of the most skilled members of the Autobots." I thought you Decepticons hated humans. No offense."
"To answer your second question: I never said I hated humans. Just keep them away from my paintjob and we`re good." The former Decepticon told her. "And to answer the second, I`m not only an automobile, I`m an automobile enthusiast." He boasted.
"You will get your chance, but just remember," Bumblebee started.
"'No driving people off the road or trying to scrap them, even if they scratch my paintjob.' I know." Knockout finished in a tired tone.
"That`s right." Bee praised with a smile.
With that, they continued working on the bridge. What no one noticed, however, was that they were all being watched.
He was right there with them, but at the same time, he was not. They could not see him, but he was there, watching, observing, as silent as ever. It was all he could do, since his imprisonment in this dimension. He watched everything, from his leader being struck down, the Autobots and even the Predacons battling his resurrected form, Unicron`s exorcism from his body and his renouncing the Decepticons and subsequent departure from Cybertron.
He could feel doubt in his mind, wondering what to do next. A part of him wished to join his master in exile, but, since he did not know where he was, it would mean going in an endless search across the universe.
He pushed these thoughts away. There could be no distractions now. The chance to be free was finally within his grasp, and he could not miss it! He could worry about his next course of action after escaping.
"Just a little more…There! Done!" Knockout proclaimed.
"All right! Fire it up, Bee!" Bulkhead enthusiastically.
"Here we go!" The scout said, pushing down a lever.
With that, a swirling, green vortex appeared. The Spacebridge was ready.
"That`s our cue, boys. Let`s go!" Arcee declared.
"Oh, yeah! Miko, here I come!" Bulkhead eagerly declared.
With that, the three of them walked into the portal, unaware of the figure behind them.
"Now", he thought, beginning to hack into the ship`s Spacebridge controls.
Back on Earth
"There! I have the coordinates!" Ratchet exclaimed, in part for his own mental health. If he had to hear Miko one more time… he`d rather not think about that.
"Awesome! Finally, after all this time, I`m gonna see Bulkhead!" Miko said excitedly.
"It`s only been a couple weeks, Miko." Jack said.
"Whatever."
Soon, Ratchet activated the Bridge, the swirling portal activating on their side. Slowly, silhouettes formed until the forms of Bumblebee, Arcee and Bulkhead walked out.
"BULKHEAD!" Miko cheered, running to her giant green friend`s foot.
"Hey, Miko! Missed ya too!" Bulk laughed happily. As this happened, the other two Autobots went to greet their respective partners.
Bumblebee kneeled in front of the youngest boy. "Raf…" he began, before Raf assured him, his eyes beginning to get wet.
"I know, Bee. I missed you too." Raf said, as Bee offered his finger for the boy to hug. Then, the last two partners met.
"Good to see you, partner." Arcee smiled, getting on her knee to look at Jack. "Yeah, you too." He smiled, hugging her hand.
Ratchet then approached them. "I must admit: it warms my spark to see the three of you again." He said, smiling for the first time since they arrived.
"Good to see ya too, Ratch." Bulkhead said to his old friend, before his expression grew mischievous as he looked down at Miko. "So, who`s up for some Monster Truck action?"
"OH! Oh! Me! Me!" She jumped extatically, eager to spend more time with her friend. Ratchet, however, didn`t share the enthusiasm.
"And so it restarts." He sighed in a defeated tone, with the others rolling their eyes at the duo`s antics.
However, the happy reunion was interrupted when another portal suddenly opened in the room, right next to the one used by the trio. Everyone looked at the sight in surprise and uncertainty.
"Uh, are you bringing more people?" Miko asked.
"Ratchet, what`s happening?" Arcee asked in an alarmed tone.
"I-I don`t know! This shouldn`t be happening. The Bridge is not built to- "He tried to said, running to the controls to understand the situation, before the second portal approached the other and then, a large, purple portal appeared in the base, looking much more unstable than the others.
Soon, Jack began to sense himself getting lighter. The portal was sucking him in! He turned to Miko and Raf, noticing they were moving towards it as well.
"Guys!" he exclaimed to the robots. Luckily, Arcee and Bumblebee reacted just in time and caught the three in their hands, Arcee having caught Jack and Miko, Bumblebee getting Raf.
"Ratchet, shut it down! Now!" Arcee shouted.
Ratchet was frantically typing on the console, but it was proving to be a very hard task." I can`t! The controls aren`t responding!" he yelled back.
"Try harder!" Bumblebee told him.
Then, Bulk spotted something approaching in the portal, along with a slight roar of engines. From what he could see, it looked like some sort of plane, with the engines growing louder as it continued approaching.
"What`s that? He wondered squinting his optics to get a closer look. "Wait", he said as his optics slowly grew wider in horror. "Oh, scrap". "GET DOWN!"
As soon as he said that, the plane flew out of the portal, with everyone either ducking or jumping out of the way. It flipped in the air and, suddenly, its parts began to shift and turn into a humanoid body. Then, the robot fell to the ground and slowly rose up, turning its head to regard the Autobots.
This robot`s appearance could only be described as unsettling. It had a lean, sleek body, which was blueish purple with grey highlights. It`s arms were thin and flat, reaching towards its knees, with four claw-like fingers on each end. On each side of its shoulders was a symbol, which appeared to be a face with no mouth with four points on each end (the Decepticon symbol). Its legs were long and ended on pointy, boot-like foot. But the creepiest feature about it was its face, or lack of it. It had four jagged points on the top of its head like the symbol, but aside from that there was no nose, no eyes, no mouth, nothing. Just a black, blank slate where a face should be.
All the Autobots and humans looked upon this newcomer with expressions of shock, horror, and fear, as this was an enemy they were all too familiar with.
"Soundwave." Ratchet whispered in a shocked tone.
"B-But-! How did he get out of the Shadowzone?!" Bulkhead exclaimed.
"H-How is he here?!" Miko shouted, shocked beyond belief.
Arcee just stood there, looking with shock at the Decepticon, before she suddenly remembered something." Bee! We gotta get the kids out of here!" She told him, as the others transformed their hands into their weapons.
The scout then snapped out of his shock and nodded, already taking Raf to a back door. Arcee came behind him and placed the older kids next to him.
"Get out of here. Go!" Bee told them, and he and his partner ran back. Miko was about to run back when Jack stopped her.
"Let me go, Jack! We gotta help them!" She struggled.
"Are you crazy, Miko?! That`s Soundwave. Did you forget who he is, what he`s capable of?!" He told her harshly, trying to make the girl see reason.
"So what? We took him down once!"
"Because we got lucky! And you had the Apex Armor. Where is it now?!" He argued, but she didn`t seem to listen.
Soundwave, meanwhile, observed the Autobots, who were ready to fight him. Even though he knew he could easily win, it would put his newfound freedom at risk. With that said, he turned around and began to walk to the door.
"Don`t let him out of the base!" Bumblebee shouted. If Soundwave managed to get out, who knew what he would do? With that, he transformed his hands into blasters and opened fire.
Soundwave blocked all his shots with his arm, at the same time he noticed Bulkhead charging at him with his wrecking ball.
"Oh, no! Where do you think you`re going?"
However, before he could get any closer, Soundwave emitted a sonic pulse that echoed throughout the base, causing everyone to fall to their knees, crying out in pain. Then, he unleashed one of his tentacles and sent an electric current through Bulkhead`s body. The large Bot screamed for a minute, then fell unconscious. With that, Soundwave resumed his exit attempt.
Suddenly, Arcee jumped on top of the Decepticon and began punching his head. They stumbled around the base as Soundwave struggled to pull her back. Arcee then took out her blaster to snuff him out. However, the silent Decepticon then deployed his loyal drone, Laserbeak, from his torso. The minicon did a backflip and shot at the Autobot`s back, causing her to misfire and hit the Bridge controls.
When that happened, the portal began to collapse, and began sucking everything in the room. The robots suddenly began to lose their footing, and began to grab whatever they could with all their might.
"Hold on!" Bee shouted.
"What do you think I`m doing?!" Arcee retorted.
Suddenly they heard screaming, and saw the children were being sucked as well. Thinking fast, Bulkhead grabbed Miko and Raf, with Arcee grabbing Jack as she held onto a metal railing on the ground with her other hand.
"Thanks!" The boy said.
"Don`t mention it!" She told him.
However, she suddenly felt a strong weight in her leg. Looking at it, she saw it was Soundwave, who held into her with all his might. He was not willing to go back to imprisonment, not after getting out! She began to kick him to make him release her.
"Let me go! Let me go!" She kept saying, but the silent Decepticon`s grip on her was much stronger than his thin frame would suggest.
"I…can`t… hold it!" She struggled.
"Hang on, Cee! I`m coming!" Bumblebee, who was closest to her, made his way closer and held out his hand.
"Take my hand!"
"Take Jack first!" She held out the hand with the human to him. Jack then stretched out his hand to try to grasp the scout`s finger.
"Hurry, Jack!" They shouted at him.
"I`m… I can`t! It`s too far!"
"I can`t hold much- AAH!"
Suddenly, the railing broke apart, sending her, Jack and Soundwave into the portal. With that, it collapsed completely and vanished, stopping the sucking winds.
"NO!" Bumblebee screamed.
The remaining Autobots released the things they were holding, the humans still safely in their hands, and stood before the empty Bridge circle with wide optics.
"Bukhead…what happened?" Miko asked hesitantly, equally shocked.
"Ratchet, where are they?!" Bulk asked desperately.
"I… I don`t know." The doctor whispered in horror.
Whew! Finally! It took forever, but I finished it. Now, I know this fight scene wasn`t that impressive, but I`m still getting the hang of it. I hope to do better in the next chapters.
You might be thinking "Why Cross Ange? That thing`s terrible!" Well, I watched until the end and thought it wasn`t THAT bad. It`s neither the best nor the worst thing ever. Then, this idea popped into my mind and I just had to write it.
With that said, I want to know what you think about this chapter. I like to think I did a good job, but tell me what you think. Until next chapter, everyone!
