Prologue
"Red Dragon, give us a status update. Over."
"... Static."
"Red dragon, do you see the package? Over."
"... Beep."
"Sir, we've lost contact. Red dragon just went offline."
"Damn it." General Medvedev sighed in exasperation.
The clock ticked to midnight. They only had 3 more days left. And by the looks of it, Ivanov had been neutralized.
With his most trusted soldier down, Medvedev needed Kai. He knew Kai would never come to work for him. For what he had done, or rather didn't do, was unforgivable.
He needed to find a way, and soon.
Suddenly, the phone rang.
"Sir, its for you. The minister of defense is on the line."
"радуйся матушка россия. скажи мне, что у тебя есть хорошие новости." (Hail mother Russia. Tell me you have good news.)
"Unfortunately, no. We've lost contact. But I am working on it. "
"еще одна ошибка, и нам конец, надеюсь, вы это понимаете, Медведев." (One more mistake and we're finished, I hope you understand that, Medvedev.)
Click.
Massaging his temples, the general said, "Viktor, send for Oksana. Tell her vacation's over."
Medvedev knew if someone could persuade Kai, it was Oksana.
