The meeting...

The date. August 7th 2037. 11 AM Eastern Standard time. There sits the mountain...MT Ebott over looking the big Apple, or more formally know as the state of the New York.

Within the territory lays one of the most famous and important cities on the planet. The rich live in high rises over looking the poor as they attempt to make it by however they can. They shop for expensive, nearly useless items and are living life to the fullest.

Under the mountain the same situation could be said for the Dreemur kingdoms capital. A large magnificent castle with its top stretching to the ceiling of the mountain, looking down on the cities skyscrapers which looked down onto the rest of the city. Royalty and nobility alike were living it up while the peasants down below fought to survive.

Within this castle, something several years in the making was about to unfold. The castle was being cleaned by dozens of workers trying to make everything perfect. A large, warlike meeting room had been set up and everything was perfect. The chairs were placed, the glasses of water were placed and every little nook and cranny of the large table itself was scrubbed.

In the castle throne room dozens of elite Royal Guards stood perfectly still in formation starting straight at the throne. These guards would be responsible for guarding the king in the upcoming event as well as to show their visitors their professional soldiers, hoping to impress them on the military front.

King Asgore sat, tapping his large hoof against the ground. He had to brief these monsters on their assignment. How could he tell them. How would they react?

The possibility that they could turn on him was frightening. These were his most elite soldiers...they were trained to be undoubtedly loyal. They would not dare turn on him. He had been training them to greet the human delegation for months and they had accepted what was about to take place.

However...would the rest of the military, if not the public support this. It would depend on how Asgore revealed the truth to them. This he had been preparing for since he had first learned of the plan.

Asgore couldn't say he was forced to follow whatever the human leaders told him to do. In a way he had been forced to pretty much surrender his rule. He was a puppet leader being told to do everything by a bunch of old men in an office. However he truly believed this was for the better. His race would be free to live on the surface and amongst the humans in peace. If this is what he had to do in order to secure freedom, then so be it.

The Royal guards were commanded by the commander of special forces who happened to be the kings younger brother, Asrak. He had rose in the ranks extremely fast and was responsible for the defeat of an insurgency in the snowdin forest. He was a dog like monster, very big and intimidating. However he too was nervous. He didn't want to admit it, nobody in the room did but they were terrified.

Asgore, with a huff stood tall from his throne to address the soldiers. "We have been waiting months for this day. And I will be the first to admit, I am terrified."

This seemed to shock the Royal guards, they assumed that their leader was not scared and would face the issue head on. But he was just like the rest of them.

"However we cannot back out of this. Humanity has changed for the better. We are being given a chance to be free, to live under the sun once again. For this chance we owe humanity a great deal..."

The soldiers morale seemed to go up and they all saluted their leader in unison. A brave smile was set across the kings face as he stepped down from the throne.

...

No more than an hour later had the human delegation arrived through the barrier. The humans could not leave unless they broke such a barrier, which they had all intentions to do once the meeting had finish.

This doesn't mean the monsters would be free right away. Anyone who somehow got past the castle, all its security and the king would face a legion of human defenders on the other side.

There were a few dozen humans. Most of them were military guards. The rest were the leaders of the greatest nations of the planet. They were on the older side, with most being in their 70's. They looked around in awe at the barrier. They were mesmerized by the imagery they saw and nearly didn't see their monster counterparts approaching them.

A dozen elite Royal guards, including Asrak walked in a tightly nit formation towards the humans. The formation was led by none other than Undyne, formally known as Captain of the Royal guard.

Her helmet was on, only white slits being visible that served as her eyes. She was tall, over six feet and had a sense of power in her steps that.

She stopped mere meters away from the humans along with the other guards and Asrak who stood right next to the captain.

The military guards of each respective nation seemed off-put and tense however most of the human leaders were calm and collected.

Undyne stuck out her armored hand and proceeded to shake the human leaders smaller hands very lightly.

"Welcome to our kingdom, I am a Undyne Captain of the Royal guard. And this here is Asrak, Commander of special services within the kingdom. Please come this way. The king is waiting."

The Royal Guards then proceeded to escort the humans throughout the castle. They moved at a slow pace as Undyne could tell the humans were admiring the architecture. Royal guards lined the hallways, standing across from one another as the humans passed.

They were impressed already which was good.

Entering the meeting room most of the Royal guards stood outside while Asrak and four other guards entered the room, taking up positions in each corner of the room.

The humans were hesitant to go in the room without their respective guards but Undyne informed them that if they wanted the humans dead they'd already be. The guards were more of a formality than anything.

Each human leader sat in one of the chairs quickly turning their attention to the king who sat in a large chair fit for a beast of his size. Undyne and Asrak stood in attention behind him.

"Welcome humans!" Asgore exclaimed.

"I am King Asgore Dreemur, leader of

This land. Before negotiations begin I would like to take the time to allow you to introduce yourselves."

The humans stared at each other not sure who should speak first. However the awkwardness of the situation was overturn by the youngest of the five.

The man was of African descendant, and appeared to be in his early 40's. He was more than eager to begin introduction.

With a deep breath and a welcoming grin he spoke.

"I am Damian Walker, 49th President of the United States of America." He spoke confidently sitting up as straight as he could and staring the king directly in the eyes.

Asgore was impressed with this one, while all the leaders were calm there was a slight tinge of tension in the air.

"I am Prime Minister Henry Malcom of the United Kingdom." A man in his early 60's stated. He was less confident than the American President however did not fear the monsters in the slightest. His skin was pale and he was tired he probably had not slept in awhile however nonetheless was going to get his job done.

"I am Gabriel Michel of the nation of France, I am formally the standing president and leader of my country." The man stated. He was an older fellow. Possibly in his mid 70's. He seemed to slightly fear the monsters and his introduction was forced. Beads of sweat could be seen polling upon his forehead and he took out a hanker chief and wiped them.

"M-my apologies your majesty it is rather humid in here." This was indeed a lie as it was actually pretty cool in the castle.

Asgore nodded with a smile. "It is no problem sir." Asgore didn't want to start anything so acted as if it was true. The other human leaders seemed to glance disapprovingly at the French President as they thought he was coming across as cowardice.

Another leader let out a sigh and began his introduce. "I am Alexi Yalta of the Russian Federation. I am very eager to get a better understanding of this land." A man looking to be in his early 70's. He didn't seem that confident or nervous he was simply calm. This man infect her to be as nice as he could to the monsters.

Over the last decade Russia had been trying to recover from one of their greatest economic crashes in their history. After a taxing invasion of their neighbor which took months to complete, resulting in tens of thousands of casualties on both sides and the crashing of the Russian economy due to sanctions the country was left in ruin. However after a military coupe the former president of the country was executed and a more democratic leader was put into power. However many sanctions stayed into effect and the struggle to rebound from the collapse was proving difficult.

Alexi hoped that by winning over the monsters a rise in the world economy would take place and his great nation could recover fully.

And lastly the Chinese leader spoke. He was an old man in his late 80's. "I...am emperor Xi Jinping. Leader of the New Chinese Empire...it is an honor to meet you...king."

The other human leaders at each other in disappointment and worry. Asgore seemed slightly nervous. The self proclaimed emperor was old, older than any of the previous leader. His claim to emperor was slightly worrying to say the least as empires were the very thing that had brought monsterkind to knees.

Asgore cleated his throat and begin to speak. "N...now that we have the introductions out of the way we should begin this meeting. I must ask, what is humanity proposing to us?"

Damian spoke. "We are offering a chance at freedom. A chance at equal rights, assuming you can conform to some...requests. We are willing to be very lenient here. But king, do remember you are in no position to make any demands."

Asgore nodded. "I am aware and more than willing to abide by any of your requests..."

The French President smiled. "Good..."

...

After a few hours the meeting was completed. The barrier was destroyed and the Royal guards along with Asgore, Asrak and Undyne were allowed to get a view of the surface and allowed to walk around the military camp for hours. They celebrated with a night of drinking, the Royal Guards and human soldiers getting to know each other...possibly a little to well as some of the human soldiers cots were soon home to drunken Royal guards, hoping to learn a bit more of humanity.

The meeting was a success not only on the political front, but on a social front. Asgore nearly teared up as he saw the scene before him.

Humans and monsters laughing together, dancing together and just having a good time.

"We are some lucky sons of bitches..." Undyne said as she gulped down a glass of whiskey.

"Yep..." Asrak said as he stared up at the moon from the wooden table the three monsters sat in. Observing the humans and monsters across the small grassy field complete with a large campfire.

"I...I never thought I'd ever live to see something like this ya know? I'd just...I just could never ever imagine what it would be like. Returning to the surface, being friendly with these humans. It's..." Asrak trailed off.

"Like a dream." Asgore finished the sentence.

"You know those dreams you have...where they are nearly exactly the same but a few details changed. But you don't recognize that the dream is different because you either don't remember the dream or have vague memories of it. This is what this feels like. Like I've been here before, seen this before. But this isn't a dream this is real."

Undyne chuckled. "Actually I got no clue what your talking about big guy, I can't remember what I ever dream about."

Asrak shrugged. "I guess I see what you mean...I've had this dream before, I'm just only remembering till now."

There was a awkward silence between the three. The royals just staring at their soldiers having fun while they just looked on occasionally taking a sip from their cups.

"These next few years...no decades are going to be hard for me...for all of us." Asgore stated.

"This might not go according to plan...humanity is not one united force. I'm scared...just a little bit."

"Is it that emperor?" Asrak asked.

Asgore nodded with a sigh. "Empires caused our near extinction with the knowledge that the concept of empires still exist who knows what other corrupt organizations or nations exist on this planet."

Undyne looked confused. "Those aren't the only nations? The five that met us today."

Asrak shook his head. "I talked to a lot of the commanders here today. There are hundreds nations on the planet. However those are the big five largest on the planet right now. This isn't going to be easy. I imagine it will take over a century for tensions to calm down. You are right brother this will be a hard couple of decades. But we can get through it." Asrak put a hand on his older brothers shoulder. Asgore gave a small smile. "I don't want to go to war again, I want there to be peace but I'm aware for that we will have to fight."

Undyne leaned back and finished her drink. "We'll be ready to fight anyone who stands in our path. I don't just believe it..it's a fact."

The night dragged on for awhile the celebration unknown to the rest of the world. As the monsters danced, laugh and sang they felt as if they had finally achieved peace.

On a nearby hill two figures overlooked the celebration. The first was a monster. He was tall covered in armor and a cloak. His paws her cat like and his tail gently waved back in fourth.

The other figure was a human dressed in uniform with the United States flag adorned on it. He set his hand lightly on his friends back.

"Are you alright Devron?" The mans words were genuine and caused Devron to look down at this friend.

"I'm scared..." he calmly stated.

The human looked confused. "B...but why your kind is soon free, I mean look at them." The man pointed to the celebration down below. "They are having the time of their lives down there, why are you scared?"

"Maxwell...peace might not be a possibility centuries. This is the beginning of something big. I don't really want to fight another large war Maxwell. I just...I was-" Devron cut himself off and pulled the human in close.

"When I heard about this of course I was optimistic but seeing it in action I realize what's going to happen...I...I was planning on retiring after all this, when I was allowed to."

Maxwell rubbed the back of the monster as they embraced. Devron struggling to continue. "I was hoping maybe we could get a little cabin in the woods or something...block out all the shit in this world and just live. That isn't possible anymore. It can't happen in your lifetime. I'm going to...fuck- I'm going to be fighting for centuries. That's all I know how to do."

"Devron...look at me."

Devron stared down at the human he held tight. The humans face was slightly flushed, the little rant surprising the human. "Don't say that...please just don't fucking say that."

Maxwell shook his head and placed a gentle hand behind the monsters neck while his right still retained its grip on Devrons back.

"Look...I'm starting to get tired of fighting too. All we do is fight insurgents that most of the time are fighting for their own freedom. I regret everything we've had to do these last few years. Soldiers under my command have died for nothing. I want to retire but I can't yet. And even if I could I wouldn't until you can. We will fucking retire in the next five or so years and we will get that cabin you got it?"

Both the human and monster knew the possibility of that was low but that didn't matter. Right now all they could do was hope.

Devron began to smile and reached down suddenly, grabbing at the humans side.

"Hey what are y-"

Devron lifted Maxwell up so he was level with him and Maxwell grabbed onto him desperately, clinging to him like a pup.

The monsters moved his arms so he was hugging the human then turned around and began to walk in the direction of an outpost.

To be continued...
