(Awwwwww, Drumheller)
I would like to thank everyone who reviewed, favorited or followed this story since I last updated it, and for getting this story up to over 100 reviews, and over 10,000 views!
Zoryan El Muerto: Thanks, I'm glad to see you liked it. Yeah, it's not gonna be much longer until the end now. Gwen's cursing fit at Alejandro was fun to write, and you're making this Yu Gi Oh abridged series sound more interesting each time. I'll definitely have to check it out.
Ellismskd24: That wound be interesting to see, but as for whether or not that happens here, I guess we'll find out soon enough.
Ellismskd24 (ch 4): I completely understand, and I don't blame you.
OmnipotentUIJudgeOfCharacterOG: Yep you pretty much hit the nail on the head, and that goes even moreso for someone like Gwen. Alejandro managed to escape getting eliminated by sheer luck once again, but his luck won't hold out forever. I won't say how, but I will say that I do plan to get rid of him when the time is right. Yep you got it right, the Drumheller episode is going to be next, and I think we all know what's going to happen there. Cody is pretty intelligent, but he never gets much of a chance to show it. Yeah, Gwen's kissing trumps any sweet tooth tendencies that Cody may have, as strong as they might be with him.
Romeoaifesili: Yep, Cody does have a few pretty big weaknesses, but he's smart enough to know how to overcome them, or have the people around him help him overcome them. Yep, Gwen is not the kind of person you want to piss off, for obvious reasons, but at least now she and Cody get to enjoy some alone time together in first class. Alejandro got pretty lucky here sure, but he does still have a pretty wide variety of skills. I won't say anything about the plane blowing up, but keep in mind that certain things have to happen for the sake of the story. Yeah, it' will be Cody's birthday in the next chapter. Since Sierra isn't gonna be around for it (yeah it's one of the few things that I actually liked about her in World Tour, but too little too late in my eyes), I've got a few ideas for how that's gonna pan out.
SuperSonicHeroes: Yeah, the reward challenges don't change that much compared to the canon episodes. Yep, from here on out, Alejandro is focused on winning and nothing else, so that photo thing won't be happening, especially since Sierra isn't around this time, but I've got a few ideas to make sure it doesn't get too boring. As for the discussion about Game of Thrones, I will say that it's nice to see someone talk about the final season without spewing hate all over it. Overall, I'm glad to see you enjoyed this, and I hope you enjoy the next chapter.
Frosty Wolf: Yeah, I've heard plenty about Leshawna getting kicked off in season one, but I still think Cody got it worse, even if it was for the best since he was injured. Yep, the last reward challenge of the season is behind us now. I wouldn't say that the time for humor has passed, because I always like to include enough humor in my stories to lighten the mood and balance out with all of the drama. But yeah, there's still a lot to do in the next few chapters, since the season is still ongoing and Alejandro is still in the game.

In typical fashion, Chris started off the next episode with a recap of the previous one "Last time on Total Drama World Tour: The goth wrecking ball that is Gwen ended up taking down a world heritage sight, and while we went for a good old fashioned egg hunt on Easter Island, a few of our old pals stopped by for a nice visit, along with a seriously pissed off mother of a condor. A couple of newfound relationships were challenged, brotherhoods were formed, and then they were just as quickly shattered by Gwen's goth lips. Pretty spicy stuff too. Ultimate, Alejandro would've gotten the vote off thanks to the alliance of Cody, DJ and Gwen, or if he would've if it wasn't for the fact that a certain wise guy decided to make it into a reward challenge. The final four remain for one more day, but the question remains: Which one of them is gonna end up digging up a hell of a lot more trouble this week? Time for all of you to find out, right here and right now, on this new and exciting installment of Total! Drama! World Tour!"

The sun was rising over the skies above, and everything was calm in first class.
"Oh yeah…" Cody was chewing on a pillow in his recliner seat, and it was pretty clear that he was having a rather… enticing dream "Of course I'll marry you Gwen. Sierra? Oh don't worry about her, she just had a pretty bad roller skating accident. Just go ahead and let Lindsay get a brand new bikini for you… I'll grab the peanut butter and meet you in the hot tub."
"Add that to the list of reasons why I should never get into a hot tub with you." another voice noted dryly.
Cody bolted upright with a start at the sound of this voice, and he glanced over to see Gwen sitting in the seat next to him drawing in her sketchbook "Uh… hey, good morning. How long have you been watching me?"
"Long enough to know you've got one hell of a fantasy life." Gwen rolled her eyes as she glanced over at him and smiled, then turned to where the sun was rising outside their window "You know when I was little, my mom would take me and my brother out to watch the sunrise, something about how the promise of a new day could make all of our troubles go away."
"Was the rhyming intentional?"
"I asked that a few times, but she never answered. She would always say that when a new day comes, it means that anything is possible. She's always pretty upbeat and cheerful, so much that it's kind of a contrast to, well… me."
"You're not that bad."
"I know, but the point still stands. So anyway, you hungry?"
"More or less, what about you?"
"I had some fruit earlier, but I did manage to get a certain something for you." she gestured to the plate of pancakes that sat on the table next to him "They're chocolate chip."
"No way, those are my favorite! How did you know?"
"They have chocolate in them, it really wasn't that hard to figure out."
"..Am I really that predictable?"
"Yep."
"Just checking." Cody gave a shrug as he started digging into the pancakes, but after a moment of this he glanced over at Gwen with a raised eyebrow "You know you're in a pretty good mood this morning."
"Why wouldn't I be?"
"Well I figured you'd be kind of upset about not being able to vote off Alejandro yesterday, since it turned out to be a reward challenge."
"Don't think about that too much, if we couldn't vote him off yesterday then we'll just have to do it today." Gwen gave a shrug "It's not that big of a deal."
"Yeah, yeah you're probably right."
"Anyway it's just that I have a good feeling about today, so even I can get in a good mood every now and then right?"
"Hey I'm not complaining, I love seeing you smile."
"Aren't you one hell of a charmer?" Gwen rolled her eyes and gave a little playful smile "So after breakfast, you have anything you wanna do for today?"
"I'd like to say I'd get to watch something on that tablet Noah set up for me, but we're gonna have another challenge today."
"Yeah, but knowing Chris he needs at least a few hours to put on his host face, so I think that gives us enough time to watch another one of those anime you like."
"Really? I'm kind of surprised you got hooked so fast."
"You got me hooked with Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. The way I see it, if all of them are as good as that one, I think I'm hooked."
"Yeah… you might not wanna get your hopes up too much for that. Brotherhood is in a tier all of its own. Well since you liked Avatar so much yesterday, I do have two other ideas for what we can watch. There's Legend of Korra and the Dragon Prince."
"Legend of Korra is the sequel right?"
"Yeah."
"Go with Dragon Prince then, sequels are never as good as the original."
"I still think it's pretty good for what it is, but Dragon Prince it is." Cody picked up the tablet and set it up so Dragon Prince was playing, with Gwen moving closer to him as he did so, and he gave a small smile "You know I think you're right, today is gonna turn out to be a good day. Still, it's too bad we couldn't have DJ up here with us."
"Yeah but he's a big guy, I'm sure he's doing okay back in economy class."
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
(Confessional)
DJ sat in the confessional staring at a small object in his hand, his face downcast, but it quickly hardened "Harold's num-yo. He wanted Leshawna to have it, so he left it with her before he threw himself out of the plane. He saved me from getting eliminated too." he let out a chuckle "It's kind of weird to think that for a pretty long time this season, I didn't even wanna be here. Now I made it all the way to the final four, the same with Cody and Gwen… Alejandro. He got so far on his first try, but he did it by messing with my friends and getting all of them icked off. Harold, Leshawna, Bridgette, Courtney, Duncan, Tyler, Noah… He would've gotten me too, but I guess I was able to get lucky. He's not gonna get any farther than he already has. One way or another, I'm gonna do everything in my power to make sure that he doesn't win. It's like Noah said, the money would be pretty nice, but the most important thing is making sure that Alejandro loses. Knowing how Gwen can be, she and Cody are probably strategizing up there right now."
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, with the couple in question…
"Holy (bleep), that's it?!" once the last episode of Dragon Prince was completed, Gwen bolted to her feet and grabbed Cody by the shoulders "That's where it ended?"
"Trust me, I'm as upset about that as you are." Cody gave a shrug as he helped Gwen to settle down from the excitement "But yeah, that was the last episode."
"Well how did it end? Did Callum learn to use more than sky magic? Did Ezran get to become the king of Katolis again? Did Aaravos grow a new body for himself out of that chrysalis?"
"At least this way I know you enjoyed it." Cody let out a chuckle when Gwen started blushing at how loud she had gotten.
"Okay okay, you made your point. That was a really good show."
"Now you know why Noah and I rave about that stuff."
"Yeah, you might have had the right idea." she let out a chuckle "So, not a bad way to spend the morning right?"
"Definitely not. You're being pretty mellow today though, everything okay?"
"Yeah it's great, just trying to make sure you enjoy today."
"Attention passengers, please prepare for landing and be ready for today's challenge!"
"And so much for that. (Bleep)."
"Hey it was fun while it lasted." Cody gave a shrug "And the best part is that I got to enjoy it with you." he received a small smile from Gwen as he felt her gently grip his hand.
"Come on, we'd better get ready."
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Another hour went by, and the plane landed at its next destination.
Once they landed, Chris gathered the final four outside the plane and started explaining the details behind the day's challenge "Alright guys, let me welcome you to Drumheller, Alberta, a world heritage sight that has the most wicked collection of dinosaur bones in the world. In front of the four of you is a giant pit with lots of super ancient dino bones, so you guys have to go ahead and grab whatever bones you can find to make your very own life sized dinosaur. This challenge is a little something that I like to call Design-A-Saur-It!" he was met with a series of groans from the others "Yeah I know, they should pay me just to come up with this stuff. I'm that good."
"Oh yeah McLean, you're a real pro with the puns." Gwen commented dryly, earning a few snickers from the others.
"Anyway, I'm giving you guys a few minutes to rifle through the cargo hold in the plane and grab whatever you can to help you build your creations. Now get to it!"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
A few minutes later, in the cargo hold…
"Let's see here…" it wasn't long before the final four had scattered to search for materials for their creations, with Gwen rummaging through a crate "Glitter glue, no. Stickers, no. Puffy paint, not even with a knife at my throat."
"Hey, how's it going?" Cody poked his head out from a crate "Did you find anything you could use for yours?"
"I think that depends on whether or not I wanna make the equivalent of a third grade art project for this challenge." Gwen rolled her eyes as she pulled out a blank canvas "This on the other hand could work."
"Yeah that's perfect, with your art skills you could totally work with that!"
"I do plan to use my artistic skills to win this, oh god when did I start talking like Harold?" she shuddered at the thought, but then shook it off and handed the canvas to Cody "But I think you could work with this too."
"Seriously? But you're the master artist between us, I don't really have that any idea what I would even do with-" Cody was cut off by Gwen handing her a certain picture, and then the light bulb went off in his head "Yeah, that could work. But are you sure you wanna give this to me instead of using it for yourself?"
"Don't worry about it, I've got something else in mind, and as soon as I find the materials I need I can make it no problem. Besides, all we have to do is make sure that Alejandro doesn't win the challenge today, so go to it." she gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, then turned back to collecting materials.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
(Confessional)
"Man, it's pretty hard to resist the urge to get this cheek bronzed." Cody found himself blushing as he rubbed a hand against his cheek, but then he quickly snapped out of it "Seriously though, what the heck is up with Gwen today? She seems so calm and agreeable, and she hasn't gotten annoyed at really anything today. Why do I get the feeling she's about to do what Jack in the Shining did and kill us all?"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Back with the challenge…
"You think this could help?"
DJ looked up from the pile of rocks and bones he was looking through, and saw Cody holding out a small bone to him "Isn't that the bone from a t-bone steak?"
"I found it in the cargo hold." Cody gave a shrug "I figured it might come in handy, I mean I don't need it since Gwen helped me come up with something."
"I kind of expected that. She looked like she was in a pretty good mood today. I'm honestly a bit scared that she snapped and is planning to kill us all."
"Don't give that too much thought. Granted Gwen can be kind of harsh at times but she would never seriously hurt anyone."
"I know I know, but the thought still kind of resonates." Cody gave a shrug, but then they both turned serious "So we're voting off Alejandro right?"
"Yep, that's the plan. As long as he can send him packing, I don't really care which one of us ends up winning the challenge today. I've never won an individual challenge myself anyway."
"Neither have I, but with Alejandro gone we're gonna be in the final three, and that means the finale is gonna be right around the corner."
"That's true, and then when we do get to the finale we're gonna get to see everyone else, like my friends Duncan and Geoff, and my old teammates like Bridgette, Harold, Leshawna and all the others."
"Yeah, and my friends too like Trent and Noah, Tyler and the other Drama Brothers… and all the others that got kicked off…" Cody's face turned pale and his expression quickly turned to one of dread "Aw crapbaskets."
"You okay little buddy? You look pretty pale."
"Yeah, it's just… Once the finale comes, we get to see everyone that's been kicked off… and that includes Sierra… God, what the heck are Gwen and I gonna do when we see her? She'll probably try and kill us or something!"
"Take it from a voice of experience Cody, thinking about what might happen isn't gonna do any good for you or anyone else. The only thing you can do is keep moving forward and face it head on with all the courage you can muster."
"...You know DJ, you're pretty wise."
"Not really, I was just raised right. I've got my momma to thank for that. Whatever happens in the future, I like to think that I'm a good person that cares about people, and I've got her to thank for that."
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, with Alejandro…
"Let's see here…" Alejandro frowned in thought as he searched through a large pile of numerous tiny bones "No, this one will never do. Nor this one. Or this one. Or this one. Or this one. Or this one. Or this one. Or this- Oh here we go, this one will be perfect.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
A half hour passed, and everyone spent it working on their dinosaurs and/or putting the finishing touches on it.
"Alright you guys, time is up!" Chris made his way over to the four of them, which prompted them to stop what they were doing "Now we're gonna get started with the amazing tour through the ages of imaginary dinosaurs. Why don't we start with Alejandro?"
"I can assure you my good man, I can do much better than imaginary." Alejandro gave a smirk as he gestured over to his dinosaur "This handsome fellow standing behind me is a little something known as the Allosaurous, and yes that happens to be its real name."
"Pretty impressive, it's gonna be pretty tough to beat that one right out of the gate. Well how about it then Cody, you wanna give it a shot?"
"I guess I'll give it a shot." Cody gave a shrug as he gestured to the dinosaur next to him, which earned a series of groans from the others "This is a little something I like to call the Chris-ceratops, which happens to be one heck of a talented beast and knows how to be a hit with the ladies. So what do you think, you like it?"
"Like it, I absolutely love it, LUV love! DJ my man you're next up in the roster, so what do you have for us?"
"Right over here." DJ held up his dinosaur, which looked like a small dog made up of rocks and tiny bones "This little buddy here is what I like to call the Deej-don. Go ahead and meet him first hand, and he just might turn out to be your best friend."
"You mind if I take a look at it?" Cody held out his hands, with DJ handing it to him "Huh, it feels pretty light, and these rocks actually look pretty cool."
"Yeah same here, I actually came across a really big pile of these and I thought I could make them work."
"Yes well, about that… those are coprolite fossils." Alejandro told him.
"Why do you say that like it's a bad thing?"
"Because I know the meaning behind such a term. Coprolite translates from ancient Greek, with copros meaning dung and lite meaning stone."
"...So then you're saying it's-"
"Fossilized dino poop?" Cody promptly dropped the dino and started wiping his hands on pretty much anything he could get his hands on.
"Oh yeah, that's gonna be a hit with the ratings." Chris grumbled dryly "Alright Gwen, go ahead and see if you can rescue us from DJ's literal pile of crap."
"I've already got mine right over here." Gwen gestured to the large black-colored dinosaur with a necklace hanging around its neck that sat a few feet away from her "This is something that I like to call Hel, a tribute to the Goddess of Death in Norse mythology. Oh yeah, and Cody go take a look at the necklace, I think you're gonna be surprised by what you see."
"Okay." Cody raised an eyebrow at this, but he complied as he went over to the dinosaur and read the inscription on the necklace "To Cody, thank you for always being there for me, and for finally gathering the courage to be yourself. You've stood by my side all this time, so now it's my turn to do the same. Happy 17th birthday." his eyes widened as he read this "Gwen…"
"I did say today was gonna turn out to be a good day right?" Gwen gave him a small smile as she pulled him into a hug.
"Oh man, I totally forgot about that. That actually explains so much too, like how happy you've been all day."
"Even if we're stuck on this flying deathtrap, I figured it was only fair for me to try and make the most of it for you. After all, you'd do the same for me right?"
"I did have a little bit of help." she jerked a thumb over at DJ "He made the pancakes, and I had a few myself. The guy's got talent."
"Still though, it's so amazing that you actually remembered. Thank you, really."
"Alright alright, enough of the mushy crap." this was when Chris ruined the moment "It's time for some good old fashioned judgement day. Which dinos are going to survive, and which ones are going to be driven to extinction? Oh and by the way, did I forget to mention who the very special judges are? It's you guys, with a pretty shocking twist I might add! Yeah, I love making up these puns. I should get paid extra for it." he was met with a series of groans.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
(Confessional)
"So we're judging our dinosaurs? Then I'm voting for Gwen's obviously." Cody let out a sigh as he gave a small smile "She actually remembered my birthday, even when I didn't. She's even more amazing than I ever thought…" but then his face fell "Even after all the stupid stuff I've done since I met her…"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Now back to the shocking twist…
"You've gotta be kidding me." Gwen looked down in annoyance as she found herself strapped into an electric chair "A callback to Truth or Electrocution from last season. Yeah sure Chris, your genius knows no doubts, just like always." this little sarcastic comment resulted in her getting shocked by the chair "Oh come on, sarcasm doesn't count as a lie!"
"The chair would beg to differ." Chris' grin grew even wider as he turned to the others "And now it's time for you guys to vote for your favorite dino. You can't vote for your own though, because where would the fun be in that? And if you saw how this turned out last season, you might wanna be ready to tell the truth. Gwen you're up first, so which one did you think is best?"
"The one that gets to smack you upside the head." Gwen was met with a few looks, though the chair didn't go off "Yeah, that might be the Leshawna in me. Anyway, as much as I hate to admit, I appreciated the fact that Alejandro managed to bring some actual realism into this show, which is seriously lacking in that department by the way."
"Realism limits you way too much on what you can do, which is why the laws of physics usually don't apply on this show. Anyway you're out, and now Alejandro is up next."
So with that in mind, Alejandro waited for Gwen to get out of the chair and allowed himself to get strapped in "I will say that I would like to vote for DJ's dungaramous-" he got zapped, and so he let out a sigh "Very well. I must say that I appreciated Gwen's genuine emotion, and I respected the tribute to Norse mythology. Also she's right, this show is very lacking in realism."
"Whatever you need to tell yourself man, now DJ is up next."
So DJ went up next and breathed a sigh "I doubt this is gonna surprise you, but I have to go ahead and pick Gwen's tribute to Cody."
"Yep, that one is pretty straightforward. Next."
"And then there was one." Cody stepped up to the chair, and he let out a sigh "Last year, my own mom and dad forgot my birthday, so I have to go ahead and vote for Gwen. Plus yeah, I love the stuff with Norse mythology."
"And there you have it. As the winner of the first round, Gwen is gonna get a big advantage over the rest of you: a handy dandy post digger!" Chris snapped his fingers and had Chef bring the post digger forward and hand it to Gwen.
"...Oh yeah, I'm gonna enjoy this." Gwen gripped the post digger, then gained a smirk as she started advancing towards Chris with the post digger, causing him to run away screaming.
"Okay… so that happened." DJ cringed at the sight, then turned towards Cody "I think you were right before, she's been hanging around Leshawna for too long."
"Bout time someone said it." Chef let out a snort and turned to the camera "Chris vs the goth chick and the post digger, who's gonna come out on top? Find out when we come back after this one on Total! Drama World Tour!"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
One offscreen chase scene/ commercial break later…
"Okay, now that that's done…" Chris glanced over to where Gwen was holding the post digger and giving him the evil eye, before turning to the camera "Welcome back to resource rich Alberta, back in our home land of Canada. The interns were supposed to bury these barrels over here that are full maple syrup, sugar, spiders and rattlesnakes."
"Supposed to?" Cody let out a fearful squeak.
"To make a long story short, the interns ended up burying our reserve fuel barrels instead." he then pushed the barrels over onto the interns, dumping the syrup and dangerous animals onto them in his anger.
"Wait, how did you get from fake barrels of gross and dangerous stuff to burying reserve fuel barrels?" asked DJ.
"The hell if I know. Apparently these idiots don't know how to follow instructions. Anyway, moving on from the incompetence of my interns, we've still got a challenge to do. Alejandro you came in second, so you're gonna be getting this rusty old prospector kit." he tossed the items in question to Alejandro "Since Cody came in third place, he's gonna be getting a kiddie pale and a toy shovel to dig with. As for DJ, since he came in dead last, he's gonna be using nothing but his giant bare hands."
"My hands aren't that big."
"Yeah they are dude, just take a look at those things. Anyway, the first one back with a barrel of my oil wins immunity and first class travel, the same drill as usual."
"This is crazy." Cody muttered "There must be 20 square miles of bad lands out here. It's gonna be like looking for a needle in a haystack that stretches across 20 square miles of badlands."
"Yeah, it's gonna be that much fun. Oh right, and I almost forgot to mention that we're gonna be pummeling the four of you with the occasional boulder. Funny right?" he was met with a series of dull looks "Well everyone is a critic, now go get my oil!"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
It wasn't long before the search for oil was on.
"Come on, come on…" using his bare hands, DJ wasted no time in digging a hole in search of a barrel, and he didn't bother to stop when he saw Alejandro come up behind him "I figured you'd be searching for a barrel yourself."
"I actually did finish digging my first hole in search of one." Alejandro gave a shrug "Alas, I had little success in there. I will say that I'm pleased to see you working so hard."
"My momma always said that nothing worth having in life is gained without putting in a lot of effort to make it happen."
"A wise woman no doubt. Evidently she raised you have intellect and resolve rivalling your own physical strength. I will not deny that I underestimated your capabilities. Originally my intent was to have you eliminated in Jamaica, but it would seem that fortune favored you, and now you've made it a great deal farther than I had anticipated. Now here you are, in the final four. You know I would offer you this prospector kit to make the challenge easier for you."
"But you won't."
"Granted, it is very likely that such a thing is against the rules."
"...If you don't mind, I have work to do, and so do you."
"Very well, I suppose I might as well. After all, everything that happens here is for the sake of the game, and I intend to win at any costs-" Alejandro's premature gloating was cut off by the sharp glare that DJ was sending in his direction, leaving him slightly taken aback.
"You're right. This is a game, and we are here to win." DJ's gaze was sharp, and his tone matched it "And I can tell you now that you're not gonna win. I'll make sure of it. You really oughta keep this in mind Alejandro. You can do whatever you want with me, I'm content with losing. But the thing to remember about me is that no one, and I mean NO ONE, hurts my friends and gets away with it."
"I'll keep that in mind." Alejandro regained his confident smirk, and he quickly took his leave to find another spot to dig for a barrel.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, with the new couple…
"Okay, evidently I have to pull back a little bit on my unyielding hatred for Chris, and you might be right about Leshawna rubbing off on me, but I still stand by my point." by this point, Gwen and Cody were searching for a sight to dig for barrels, only for her to stop when she took notice of the downcast look on his face "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, it's just…" Cody let out a sigh "I'm just thinking is all."
"About what? Come on, you can tell me."
"Alright… What did I do to deserve you?"
"Come again?" Gwen shot a raised eyebrow in his direction as she started drilling "What the hell are you talking about?"
"It's just that, I had always hoped that you would feel the same way about me that I do about you, though after awhile it started to seem more like a pipe dream than anything else, and after seeing all the stuff you've done for me today… I can't help but wonder if I really deserve it, especially after all the crap I pulled with you back on the island. I don't know if I ever really had the guts to say it before, but about all of that… I'm really sorry."
"...Is that what this is about?" Gwen glanced over at him and let out a sigh, unaware of a large shadow approaching them from above her "Look I'll admit, there were a lot of times when you got on my nerves. You acted like some ladies man jock wannabe reject out of Glee, you tried to get up into my personal space a lot, you asked for my bra and later burned it."
"I figured you weren't gonna want it back after I had touched it."
"That's… probably true. Anyway, yeah you did all of that, and you smelled my hair that one time, good thing that was the only time, and honestly it got to the point where I thought you were either like an annoying little brother or just wanted to get into my pants. But then you backed off when I told you straight up that I wasn't interested, and you even set me up with Trent, and you let us have our alone time and let things work out, so I came to realize that you really do actually care about me a lot. I mean who else would-"
"Look out!" Cody suddenly grabbed Gwen by the arm and yanked her to the ground just as a large boulder flew over their heads.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, with the source of that boulder…
"Oh god… oh god…" Chef was left panting heavily as he hoisted a boulder onto the catapult, and he stopped to take a breath "I hate my life…"
"Yeah well, I love my life. This is how you spend a good day." Chris gave a wide grin before he accidentally leaned back onto the lever of the catapult, sending the next boulder flying as well as taking Chef with it "Aw crapbaskets."
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Meanwhile, back with the couple…
"Oh god, my head…" Cody took a moment to shake off the disorientation, and then he regained his full sense of awareness "Oh crap, Gwen!"
"Relax, I'm right over here enjoying the show." Gwen jerked a thumb to where Chef and the boulder crashed to the ground, and then Chef took off running in a rage "Anyway, going back to what we were talking about before, I can't think of many guys who would yank me out of the way of being crushed by a boulder, or take a freaking cannonball for me."
"Oh yeah, that stuff." Cody found himself blushing "It was nothing, really."
"Anyway, yeah you annoyed me a lot back on the island, but this season I really got to know you, the real you. You're kind, sweet and gentle, and you're actually a lot smarter than people give you credit for, even if you tend to lack confidence sometimes. I don't think there's any such thing as the perfect guy, but as far as I'm concerned, you're about as close as it really gets." she gave him a quick kiss on the lips to emphasize her point "And if you're still worried about all of that stuff on the island, let me just say now, apology accepted."
"That… That's something I really needed to hear." he gave her a small smile "So we'd better get back to drilling."
"Yeah, good point. We're like 10 miles from the plane, what made you want to dig in this area in the first place?"
"Actually I have one of the interns to thank for that. After we pried them out of the pile of snakes and maple syrup, he thanked me by telling me where he buried the barrels of oil."
"...Asking the interns for help. I can't believe I never thought of that."
"I know right? Given how badly Chris treats them, I figured they'd jump at the chance to shoot him a giant middle finger."
"Yeah. Okay, one, two, THREE!" the two of them hoisted the barrel out of the hole, and then he rolled it over to Gwen "Okay, go ahead and take it back to the plane."
"Seriously? You take it, it's your birthday and you were the one who found it here. I say that you deserve it more."
"No way, if anyone deserves it then it has to be you. I can find my own barrel, and that way we can make sure that Alejandro doesn't get to the final three, and more importantly, we do. I'm not taking no for an answer on this."
"...You know, when you take charge like that and stand your ground, it's kind of hot. Alright, I'll see you back at the plane." she gave him a kiss on the cheek "And when you see DJ, tell him I'm gonna need his hand with something." and then she took the barrel and started making her way back to the plane.

Meanwhile, with the arch villain…
"Hm?" Alejandro looked up from where he was digging in a hole to see Chris land on the ground crushed underneath a large boulder "Oh yes, Chris is attempting to murder us with boulders. I had almost forgotten. I have bigger problems though. How am I supposed to find a barrel buried way out here in a desert?" he kept on picking at the hole he was in, only to end up digging up a black substance, and he brushed away some of the dirt to see what he could find "Well I supposed that gives me my answer." he lifted the barrel out of the hole with ease, but then he looked up to see another boulder hurtling towards him, and he tried to move out of the way, but ended up getting one of his legs crushed underneath it "(Bleep) que idiota (bleep) incompetentes (bleep)! Ayuda me, rapido!"

Meanwhile, outside the plane…
By this point, Chef was cooking up a storm on a grill outside the plane, and he let out a sigh that sounded somewhat wistful "Ah, the sweet smell of revenge." he glanced over to see Gwen roll up a barrel full of oil "Well you were more likely to get immunity than the dough boy."
"Speaking of which, where exactly is Chris right now?" asked Gwen.
"He hurled me in a catapult so I did the same to him."
"Nice. So I win?"
"Yep, you won yourself immunity and a free pass into the final three. Anyway, Chris is making me prep a barbecue to celebrate it and I've got some burgers and hot dogs grilling."
"Cool, maybe later. I'll be in the plane for now, I've got something else to deal with. Also, if you hear a lot of growling and screaming, then that means it came to life and tried to eat my face off my body. Again." and then she made her way into the plane.
"...How in the (bleep) did I get to this point in life?"

Meanwhile, with the guy crushed under a boulder…
By this point, Alejandro was trying to lifted the boulder off of his leg with his bare hands, though he wasn't having much luck "Join reality TV they said, it'll be fun they said, it'll be an easy path to a million dollars they said!"
"I'm pretty sure that's what we all thought."
Alejandro looked up to see DJ walking towards him, a barrel of oil slung over his shoulder "Great, I suppose you intend to gloat over what you interpret to be karma?"
"Gloating isn't really my thing. I don't like rubbing stuff in people's faces, no matter who they are or what they've done." DJ glanced over at the barrel that sat a few feet away "You already found a barrel too. That means you could get immunity."
"So what, you intend to leave me here to secure your vengeance?" he gave a smirk "Perhaps that means I'm having more of an influence on you than I had anticipated." then the familiar chime rang out, and the two of them shared a groan.
"Hang on, I'll start it this time." DJ put down his barrel of oil and glanced down at Alejandro, his gaze hardening as he started the song "You left Bridgette stuck to a pole, robbed Leshawna of her fabulous sole, made all the others lose control. Now I'm gonna leave you wedged up in a hole. This is how we will end it, this game we have played! This is how we will end it, your bill must be paid!"
"Ooooooh!" Alejandro glanced up at DJ, his expression almost pleading "I shouldn't have mocked you for having to dig, so help me out and I'll be your human drill-rig!"
"You think I'm gonna fall for that? You hurt all my friends, that's a fact! This is how we will end it, this game we have played! This is how we will end it, your bill must be paid!"
"Oooooh! I'm wedged in a hole, this isn't right! If I'm going down, make a fair fight! It's so beneath you to abandon a foe in a ditch! Offer me my dignity, I haven't a single stitch!" on that long note, Alejandro glanced up at DJ again "It's as I said before, I underestimated how strong a competitor you truly are, and to have made it to the final four is no small feat. But is this how you wish to win the competition and avenge your friends, because I was jammed into a pick by a large boulder and you left me to die? Is that the way you want to go about it?"
"...You know, the funny thing is I know you're playing me, but you're right." DJ let out a sigh as he began the next verse of the song "You left Bridgette stuck to a pole, robbed Leshawna of her fabulous sole, made all the others lose control. But I can't just leave you wedged in that hole." so he picked up the pickaxe and used it to lift up the boulder enough for Alejandro to free himself "This is not how we'll end it, this game we have played!"
"Well sang mi adversario. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a challenge to win." Alejandro was quick to dust himself off and moved to pick up his barrel, only to be stopped by DJ grabbing him by the shoulder "Si?"
"It's like I said before. You were playing me to get me to help you, I know that. But you weren't wrong about what you said. I'm gonna do everything my power to stop you sure, bu I'm not going to do it like that. When I do beat you, it's gonna be on my own terms."
"I'll remember that, at least after I finish this challenge."
"We'll see about that soon enough."
"We already have…" this was when Chris stumbled his way over to them, now sporting a black eye and stumbling towards the two of them.
"What happened to you?"
"Chef's version of karma, I gotta deduct his pay for that. Anyway he just called me on his walkie talkie, Gwen already won the challenge."
"...Oh. Well that's convenient."
"Yes. Now if you'll excuse me." Alejandro gritted his teeth as he went over to his barrel (which still had the hole from where his pickaxe had struck it) and started rolling it back in the direction of the plane, with DJ and Chris following after him.

(Confessional)
"Not gonna lie, Gwen winning like that was pretty convenient." DJ gave a shrug "But either way, I don't regret helping Alejandro out of that pit. He doesn't deserve to win after everything he's done to hurt my friends, but I'm not gonna stoop to his level to make him pay. Momma, my team, all my friends, they wouldn't want me to win like that. It's like Tyler said himself, if you can't win it the right way, then don't win it at all. It's why I quit last season the way I did. If I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna do it the right way, and do right by my friends."
Then a loud growling noise rang through the area, and Gwen poked her head into the confessional looking rather disheveled "Hey listen, can you give me a hand out here? It tried to eat my face off again."
"...Just hang on, I'll be done in here in a second."
"Make it fast, it's growing and it's getting angrier!"

Nightfall came, and the time for the elimination ceremony was nearly upon them.
Chris gathered Cody and Alejandro outside the plane, still in Drumheller keep in mind, surrounded by a very familiar looking set up "Since we need to wait for the interns to refuel the plane, I figured that we might as well set up a little season one tribute treat here for you. Also, you have to keep in mind that Gwen was the won to get immunity, so there better not be any votes against her, so she's gonna be getting the first marshmallow as soon as DJ and Gwen get the hell out here. Seriously though, what's taking them so long?"
"Keep your pants om McLean, because contrary to your superiority complex, the world doesn't revolve around you." this was when Gwen and DJ made their way out of the plane, the former holding a birthday cake in her hands with a series of sparklers on top of it "Today on the other hand, it's more about Cody. Happy birthday."
"Seriously?" Cody's face lit up "You really made me a cake?"
"More like I tried to, but for some reason they kept coming to life and trying to eat me, so I decided to say "screw it" and asked DJ for help."
"It was only right." DJ gave a shrug "I mean the four of us have been through a lot together over the course of the season, so I figured it was only right we do one last thing together before anyone gets eliminated."
"Yes, well… You may have a problem there." Alejandro cringed and pointed at their feet.
"What are you talking about?"
"Um, dude…" Gwen's face went even more pale as she looked down at where the sparklers were creating a series of sparks… that were landing on the oil beneath their feet.
"...Aw crpabaskets, MOVE!" DJ moved to shove Gwen out of the way, though he ended up dropping the cake in the process, and it landed right on the oil, resulting in the massive explosion that followed.
Once the explosion subsided, Cody was the first one to regain his sense of awareness "Oh god, what just happened? I mean there was… Oh crap! DJ! GWEN!" and then he took off towards the plane, or what was left of it.
"MY BEAUTIFUL PLANE!" a horrified Chris quickly followed Cody's lead, and the two of them started searching through the wreckage, though for an entirely different reason.
"Gwen! DJ! Can you guys hear me?"
"I believe you're looking in the wrong place amigo!" Alejandro suddenly called him over to another area.
Cody was quick to rush to his side, and he froze at what he saw.
As it turns out, DJ was lying on top of Gwen, having shielded her from the blast, both of them charred and covered in soot, but they were both still conscious "Note to self… stay away from the kitchen for awhile…"
"Are you guys okay?! I know, probably a stupid question but-"
"And that's the last time I try baking in this lifetime…" Gwen let out a groan as she pushed DJ off of her, only to end up rolling over and letting out a shallow cough full of smoke "And I can't feel anything in legs… except for burning pain, and not the good kind. But it could be worse, I mean I could've had all my hair burned off-" she was cut off by Cody throwing his arms around her, and her expression softened "Hey you don't have to worry, I'm okay. What about you?"
"Nevermind that, you're more important right now. Chris I found them, they're both hurt but it doesn't look too bad!"
"Not too bad? NOT TOO BAD?!" Chirs glanced over at Cody from where he was rummaging through the wreckage "Oh good, they're not dead. Although I guess with the whole business about blowing up my freaking plane, along with the fact that the little birthday tribute was Gwen's idea in the first place… SHE'S OUT OF THE GAME!"
"Are you kidding me?! You're gonna kick her out over a mistake? If anything take me, she did it for me so-"
"Hold up a second." Gwen grabbed him by the arm and yanked him to the ground "First of all, don't be surprised that Chris is a self-righteous asshole."
"But you deserve to win, how are you not furious about this?"
"Well for one, you and DJ are in the final three. For another, I actually got to blow up something with Chris' ugly mug on it. I can't think of a single way it can get more cathartic than that."
"But you… you lost your chance at the million."
"Not the first time that's happened, but I guess now you're just gonna have to win it for the both of us, right?" she drew Cody into a hug, shooting a dirty look at Alejandro as she did so "And better it be you than a slimy eel. Just be tough and fight to the end, okay?"
"I… okay. For you."
"He's freaking whipped." Chef rolled his eyes at the exchange, but then he looked between where the charred form of DJ was dusting himself and where Chris was sobbing huddled in ball on the ground, before turning to the camera "Well this happened I guess, and some of us are sadder about it than others. I'm not, I hated flying that freaking death trap. He made me Google how to fly a plane for dumbasses, in those words too. Anyway come back next time, we have no idea what the hell it's gonna be, but whatever it is it's still gonna be on Total! Drama! World Tour!"
A/N:
And thus the final four are narrowed down to three in a very explosive way. I know it might seem really unfair to have Gwen be eliminated in the same way Sierra was, and I even had one guy leave reviews asking me to not blow up the plane, but I had to do it in order to make sure the race to Hawaii still pans out, so please don't hate me for it. On the plus side though, Gwen seems content with losing, based on the fact that she got to blow up something with Chris' face on it, and as she had put it so eloquently, "This does put a smile on my face." Besides, at least this time she didn't get eliminated because of allergies.
In a rather interesting twist, I decided to include sort of a role reversal in this chapter, with Alejandro being the one pinned under the boulder and DJ being the one who has to choose whether or not to save him. Of course he does, as Alejandro talks him into it, but I used it to make a point: DJ does fully intend to bring Alejandro down once and for all, but he's not going to sacrifice his principles or abandon someone in need to do it. As Tyler had said before his elimination, you can either win the right way, or not at all.
Speaking of sort of role reversals, I did have Gwen pretty much cater to Cody during this chapter, due to it being his birthday. Since I couldn't have the subplot with the fake picture that Alejandro created, I figured the best thing I could do was add in a little bit more fluff and character development between the two of them, like Gwen showing her softer side to Cody, and Cody giving Gwen a proper apology for the way he treated her back on the island.
Now before I go ahead and close out this chapter, I want to take a chance to thank all of you guys for all of the support this story has gotten. I did not expect this story to be anywhere near as popular as it's become, but in the span of only a little over a month, it's gotten over 10,000 views and over 100 reviews! That's freaking incredible, and it could never have gotten to this point without all of you, so thank you all for putting in so much support for this story, and I hope you continue to do so.
