This is a story of Booth divorcing Brennan, I have watched the show and every time cannot stop thinking about how they should not have gotten together. This is not the most Brennan friendly story, but there will not be any outright bashing of any characters. This story will not have their second child, but their first will be featured. This story is rated M for language in later chapters but there will be no smut in this story.

Booth sighed as he sat at his desk thinking about his marriage to Bones. He had thought that she was the girl for him, the girl of his absolute dreams. A nice challenge. Someone that wouldn't just bow down to his opinion. He had been wrong. She wasn't a nice challenge. Not in the way that he wanted. She was just a challenge. She always disrespected everything he ever believed in, she constantly called his religion a mere legend and false and fantasy. She said that she wouldn't give birth in a hospital and shoved all of his concerns aside like she was the only person allowed to have one. Anything he tried to do to raise his child was met with resentment and anger. Or worse, she belittled him in front of their daughter. He wouldn't have minded as much if it was alone, and she talked to him about it, but doing it in front of their daughter? That was too far. Christine was starting to not respect him anymore. At all. Something needed to be done. 'But what?' he thought. The treacherous thought of divorce floated through his mind again. Divorce. Such an ugly mess. Such and ugly word. Not for the first time he wished Sweets was still alive. Maybe he should go to Angela, see if her friend could summon him so he could talk to him. Laughing he shoved that ridiculous thought aside. Sweets deserved to rest anyway. He didn't deserve to have Booth bothering him. Not anymore. He sat up as he realized what had to be done. Sighing again he went to his computer and started looking up divorce lawyers. Scrolling through the results that popped up he knew he had to be careful. He didn't want anyone that he had had to question on one of the past murder cases, he knew that they would either refuse his case or purposefully screw him over for some revenge. Finally after almost 30 min of searching he found one that he had not interrogated and had good reviews that weren't how they had completely screwed over their spouses. Resolving to do a background check on them before actually reaching out to them he smiled and closed out his browser. A sudden thought occurred to him, how was this going to effect the cases? He almost always was visiting the lab to check up on progress or Bones would come to him with an update. He knew that the Squints would be rational and their desire to put the criminals behind bars would override any loyalty that they might feel to her and therefore while they might not invite him to drinks anymore and ignore him on the street they would not refuse to give him updates on the cases that they would work in the future. He briefly wondered if he should tell Angela about his plans but just as quickly dismissed it. Angela's loyalty was not to him, she was loyal to Bones. He knew that even if he asked she would feel it was her duty to tell Bones. He thought about if there was anyone else that he could talk to, someone who wasn't loyal to Bones, someone who wouldn't try and convince him that he shouldn't do this because they were "Simply ment to be together." Once again he wished that Sweets was still alive. Sweets wasn't solely loyal to Bones, and although he had written the love story, he knew if he told him how he felt about his marriage, how trapped and disrespected he felt on a daily basis, he knew that he would understand. He would have helped him to find a good lawyer, not to mention how he was going to break it to Bones and Christine. Sitting up straight he felt a cold shiver run down his back. Christine. Oh god Christine. Never mind how he was going to break it to Bones, how was he going to break it to his daughter? Not to mention custody. He knew that Bones would want sole custody, but he was not willing to give it. He would try and work with her for 50-50 custody on the condition that she doesn't fight it. He knew that he would be able to prove to the courts that she was not fit for sole custody. He would not try and get sole custody but he would reduce it to supervised weekends if she tried. He knew that it would be hard for all parties involved but he knew it was for the best. He thought again about if he could tell anyone before talking to the lawyer, maybe someone could come with him for moral support? He knew he would need it. Hodgins was out, his loyalty to Angela would not allow him to keep it to himself and that was completely fair in Booths opinion. Maybe Cam? She and him had dated briefly and he knew that if he asked that she would not tell Bones, but he was worried how it would affect her working relationship with Bones, she had already complained to him a few times about how Bones would completely undermine her and not care about the consequences because she knew that she had some immunity due to how good she was at her job. And while no-one would disagree that she was good at her job, she had no right to continuously undermine and even sometimes belittle Cam. Making up his mind he reopened his browser and wrote an email to Cam asking he that once she had a chance to please come meet him in his office, and to please not tell Bones. Shooting it off he leaned back in his chair again feeling satisfied. Feeling his phone ring he took it out of his pocket and seeing who it was who called him he knew that a dead body had turned up and it was now time to go to work.

i know that Brennan gave him the contract with custody but in my story I am making it so that the contract is non-existent. Reviews are appreciated, flames are not and will be deleted.
