Out in the middle of space flots a lonely Engi ship. The deep red square looking ship looks like it was through together at the last second before lunch. Sitting in the captain chair is a tall black bug-like thing. Its legs are full of holes that go right through him. His mane and tail are dark green and also have holes in them like swiss cheese. His light blue eyes look over the computer. He wears gray shorts with two belts strapped around his body in a x shape to hold a plethora of toals.
He flips through the different screens to assess the damage taken from a fight not too long ago. He lets out a deep sigh as he rythmatical taps the button. The screen illuminates the room with its electric hum. The AC kicks on as Dox stands up.
He slowly walks over to the door with a slight limp in his step. He places his hand on the button next to the door.
"Door Unlocking," The computer says as the door clicks and slides open. Laying on the ground is a griffin. The oversized bird was in a purple and gray pirate uniform. Dox walks past it and down the hallway towards the medbay. The door blew down when the intruders had jumped aboard.
Dox limps towards a med chair. The lights turn on with an electric hum as he starts turning on the medbay. He lays down on the chair as a few robot arms come out of the ground. Each one tending to a different wound. Dox grits his teeth as he clenches his fists. Pain shooting up his leg as the robot arm tries to dislodge a piece of metal from his leg.
The ship creaks and groans as the robot arms finish patching Dox up. He stands up and quickly makes his way to the other door, which was also blown open. He steps through and walks down the hallway. He again steps over another griffin pirate as he makes his way into the door control room.
The room was a mess. The computer half destroyed with parts of it everywhere on the ground. A blood trail running from the center of the room to the griffin. Dox takes a screw driver from one of the belts on his chest and walks over to the computer.
He crouches down and starts tinkering with it. Grabbing parts that had been scattered to the ground, fixing them the best he can. Only getting up to grab new parts from the closet. After hours of tinkering, he was able to finally hear the satisfying click as all the doors inside started to repair themselves.
Dox gets up and places the tools he used back onto his belt before making his way into the drone room.
The room is a mess, drone parts flung everywhere. Blood littered the floor with scorch marks on the walls. Dox stops dead in his tracks when he sees a fellow crew member on the ground.
Laying against the wall with her eyes open is the same dark black skin with holes through her legs, with added fazer holes through her body. Her long green hair reached down to the top of her back. Her bright blue eyes stared directly ahead at the now dead griffin pirate on the floor.
Dox slowly walks over to his fallen crew member. He squats down and looks into her eyes. Scorched into them is the image of the griffin shooting at her. Stuck, forever seeing the death of its owner. Dox closed his eyes and gently closed the eyes of his crew mate.
He sits down and stays there as the ship around him creeks and hums. The ship sturing with life, repairing itself after the battle. Tears roll down his eyes as he starts to shake. Little wimpers escaping his mouth.
Dox pulls his legs in and hugs them as he opens his eyes. His tears prevented him from seeing very well. The tears rolled down his face and onto the cold, unforgiving metal floor. He wipes his eyes as he takes a few deep breaths.
He stands up on his shaky legs. Tears drying on his face as he turns and walks into the oxygen room. Walking past the controls, he casually hits a switch. This causes the room to hum to life as he leaves it.
He steps into the engine room, completely intact and untouched. He again wipes his eyes as he makes his way over the fuel tank embedded into the wall next to the engine. He taps the screen to wake it up. The bright blue glow lighting up his face.
On the screen is a blue atom with the number five next to it. He turns off the screen before making his way back to the pilot room. He slumps down into the captain chair. The screen in front of him turns on as the computer speaks up.
"Kestrel Cruiser Type F-7 warping into current area," The screen shows the pitch black of space as a big white with orange striped ship warps in. Dox flips a few switches. "Scanning Kestrel.." The computer pauses as Dox waits patiently. The Kestrel just floats there as pieces of it start to fall off.
"F-7 Kestrel is badly damaged, no shields, and weapons being unpowered," Dox nods as he sends out a signal to the Kestrel. He sits there and waits for a response. He visibly jumps as the lights turn red.
"Unidentified personnel in the engine room!" The computer yells. Dox stands up and grabs the laser rifle off the wall. He runs down the hallway as he turns on the rifle. The hum signifying it had come to life.
He runs and slams into the door into the engine room. He stumbles back and rubs his head as he grits his teeth. He looks up and places his hand against the scanner. The light turned red. He grimaces at the panel before backing up and taking a wide stance.
He holsters the rifle against his shoulder before firing. The lazer bolts hit the door, melting it away slowly. After a few seconds of incident firing, he kicks down the door and storms into the room. He lowers his gun as he looks around buzzfeed. No one was in the room.
He turns off the alarm and walks over to the fuel tank. He pushes on the screen, the light nearly blinding him. He looks at it through squinted eyes before they go wide. He drops his gun and runs for the pilot room. He gets in just in time to see the Kestrel flying away as its shields start to charge up. It warps away in a flash of light.
Dox's fist clamps in anger before taking it out on the desk by punching it. He screams to the ceiling as tears roll down his eyes. He slumps against the desk as his legs give out. He falls to the floor and curls up into a ball.
