Centuries ago, in the Dark Ages, the realm of Camelot was threatened by an evil sorceress named Morgana Le Fay, the forsaken half-sister of the kingdom's ruler, King Arthur. She was feared by all who knew her name, and she brought death and destruction wherever she went in her quest to seize control of the world.

With the powerful sorcerer Merlin by his side, King Arthur led his army to stop Morgana. The battle proved near impossible for Arthur and his forces to win, until he was able to slay his half-sister with the magical sword Excalibur. But the battle was far from over: While Morgana's body had died, her ghost survived and was immortal.

To keep Morgana's ghost from ever becoming free, Merlin trapped her remains within a cursed sarcophagus made of black crystal, which could only be opened by Excalibur's magical properties. This bound Morgana's ghost to her body for all eternity.

The sarcophagus was buried in a secret location, so that none of Morgana's surviving disciples could ever find her and release her from her prison. It is said, however, that only a group of true heroes could defeat Morgana when she became free…

The Old San Francisco Mint

Security guard Wilson sat back in his chair and looked at the Entertainment Weekly magazine he had brought with him to work. He placed his feet on the desk in front of him, which held several security monitors. Each one was connected to a different security camera, which were located throughout the building.

The Mint was no longer in use. Since 1937, operations had been relocated to the current facility located on Hermann and Buchanan Street. The old building now served as a museum, documenting its operations when it functioned as the U.S. Mint's San Francisco branch. The cameras were meant to watch over the exhibits on display. Why that is was an interesting question to Wilson, since he couldn't see why anyone would want to steal such large and worthless pieces of history.

Wilson looked up from his magazine when he heard static: One of the security cameras had gone down. He took his feet off the desk and reached for the radio.

"Hey, Aaron," he said, "are you anywhere near the Northwest Wing?"

"Yeah. Why?"

"One of the cameras in the wing just went down. Could you check it out?"

"I'm a security guard, not a repairman, Wilson."

"Would you just check it out?"

But before Aaron could answer, all of the security monitors went dead. Wilson swore.

"Aaron, all the cameras just went down. Do you see anything?"

Aaron didn't respond.

"Aaron?"

Nothing.

Wilson groaned angrily, got up and walked over to the door. As he stepped outside, the lights suddenly went out. Shaking his head, he pulled out his flashlight and switched it on, then shut the door to the security room and started walking down the hallway.

As he walked past a janitor's closet, he heard a noise. It sounded like a low moan. Turning towards the door, he heard it again as he stepped closer. When he was just inches away, the door began to shake a little. Wilson began to feel dread fill up in him.

And that was when something slammed into the door and screamed!

Wilson yelped and began to run. Behind him, he heard the door burst open, and an unearthly light filled the hallway. Wilson sprinted around a corner, but tripped on his own shoelace and fell flat on his face.

He sat up as the light rounded corner. Turning around, Wilson saw what the source of the light was, and he screamed louder than he had ever screamed in his life.
