Izuku isn't sure what he expected from his first dinner as Shouto's Boyfriend, but this wasn't it.
"Where do you guys want to sit?" Ochako asks, bouncing in place.
"Yeah, where are we sitting?" Mina grins, attaching herself to Ochako's side.
Izuku & Co stare at her, but whether or not Mina realizes how strangely she's acting, she's apparently planning to ignore it since she just keeps on smiling brightly.
"Um, how about...by the food?" Izuku offers.
"In the center," Shouto corrects him, pointedly squeezing his hand. "Let's sit in the middle of the room, in full view of Aizawa."
"Ooh, good call. Bakugou can't start any shit with Aizawa watching your every move, huh?" Mina snickers, leading the way towards an empty table.
"Exactly," Shouto agrees.
"So," Ochako takes her seat. "While we wait for the buffet to open—do either of you two care to share how this happened?"
"Yeah, last I remember, you were really upset, Midoriya." Tsuyu clucks.
"...Well," Izuku clears his throat. "Shouto...Shouto was there for me, and once I felt better, he...you know. Offered."
"Very smooth, Todoroki. Very smooth," Mina comments under her breath.
"Offered to date you, you mean?" Ochako prompts.
"No, to fuck me senseless." Izuku rolls his eyes. "Yes, to date me. This is Shouto we're talking about, guys. Be serious."
Mina nearly chokes, but pulls herself together to warn with a playful lilt, "Hey, now, Kitties, don't fight! You know he can still hear you, Midoriya. Not nice."
"And?" Izuku raises an eyebrow before turning towards him. "Any complaints, Shouto?"
Shouto's face stays completely serene. "None at all. Even with the lack of senseless fucking."
It's Izuku's turn to nearly choke on his own spit. Asphyxiating to death to the soundtrack of Mina's laughter would be...well, maybe not the worst way to go, but close, Izuku decides. He ends up taking a big gulp of water to try and hide his burning cheeks.
"Before we eat, I'd like to say grace," Mina suddenly proposes, smacking her lips.
"I think that's a wonderful idea, Ashido!" Tenya agrees, sounding a little surprised.
"Everyone?" She holds out her hands, waiting until they're all connected before starting. "God, I'd like to thank you for this delicious meal, and delicious entertainment, truly, I didn't think we'd be getting dinner and a show—"
"Amen! Dinner is served!" Tenya loudly says.
Mina's still laughing as they all troop over to the buffet to serve themselves. Izuku's stomach's turning a little bit from all the drama of the last day and a half, but Shouto appears to be making good on his threat from earlier because he keeps heaping bigger portions onto Izuku's plate and then pretending not to hear him whenever Izuku tries to protest.
"Shouto, seriously, that's enough food—"
"You need to eat," Shouto retorts. "It's my job to make sure you eat enough."
When they return to their table, the atypical dining companions quickly realize that someone's trying to interfere with their tentative peace. In the time between when they got up to serve themselves and came back, someone stole one of their chairs, making them one seat short to fit everyone. Whether the ploy was intended to lure Mina back to Katsuki's table (which seems to have an extra seat, interesting) or to force Izuku and Shouto to sit separately is unclear.
Shouto circumvents the attempt completely by taking a seat in the last empty chair and patting his knee.
"Come here," he says to Izuku.
Izuku stares back at him with wide eyes. "Are you shitting me right now?" he asks in a whisper, setting his plate down on the table in fear it'll end up on the floor if his hands shake any harder.
Shouto quirks an eyebrow. "How far do you want to go?" he replies under his breath.
"Jeez, okay. Point made," Izuku mumbles, perching himself on Shouto's lap. After a moment, he wraps an arm around Shouto's neck.
"Oh my God," Mina bursts out with, slamming her fist on the table. "That is the cutest shit I've ever seen. No cap."
"Mina!" Eijirou shouts across the room. "Babe?"
"Shut up!" Mina replies, eyes never wavering from Shouto and Izuku. "Go on. Continue as you were, Kitties." She gestures at them with distinct anticipation.
Izuku gulps, knowing that there is no way they can live up to her expectations, why did he even come up with this moronic plan in the first place—
"Open up," Shouto commands, holding his chopsticks steady as he brings food up to Izuku's mouth.
Izuku opens obediently. He doesn't even think about it until he's already finished chewing and swallowing. It's like Izuku's brain is hell-bent on playing a perfect game of Shouto Says.
"Christ." Izuku sighs to himself. "Maybe I am a bottom."
Mina, Ochako, and Tsuyu all burst into laughter, and even Tenya has to hide his snort behind his dinner napkin. Shouto only smiles, bringing another bite up to Izuku's lips.
"Go on."
Izuku shrugs, figuring when in Rome and all that. He even goes as far as humming happily after Shouto feeds him a dumpling.
"Yum! These are the best dumplings I think I've ever had," Izuku enthuses.
"Cute," Shouto says under his breath, cupping Izuku's cheek with his free hand. Izuku throws caution to the wind and leans into his touch, closing his eyes.
"God, who needs k-dramas when you have this?" Mina sighs.
"My life pretty much is a k-drama, if you haven't noticed." Izuku laughs, glancing around at his friends.
They're all smiling widely, genuinely, like they just could not be happier for him. For them both. It's enough for Izuku to wish, once again, that this was real. After another half hour of Shouto alternating between feeding Izuku and himself, the stress of the day finally catches up to both of them.
"Tired?" Shouto asks, sliding his palm up and down Izuku's back.
Izuku shakes his head, but he knows that Shouto can see right through him.
"I'm not," Izuku insists anyways.
"You always get sleepy after you eat," Shouto counters. "You've been doing this since first year. You would always disappear for a nap after dinner."
"I remember that too!" Ochako laughs. "I didn't realize he did it everytime, though. Good eye, Todoroki!"
"If there's something to be noticed about Midoriya Izuku, you'd best believe Todoroki Shouto is there," Mina comments.
"He is the President of the Deku fanclub," Ochako agrees.
"President and Vice President," Tsuyu corrects.
"Now, listen!" Tenya huffs, placing his napkin back onto his lap. "It's obvious that Todoroki is also the Secretary and Treasurer," he says with a grin.
"Just admit that Todoroki's the Deku Fan Club's entire cabinet and go," Mina jokes.
Izuku feels a bit more awake then, as he turns to stare at Shouto. "Wait, you seriously noticed I did that? All the way back then?"
Shouto's cheeks pinken, but then Mina cuts in with, "Midoriya, Sweetie, do you really expect any different from the boy who's been in love with you since day one?"
Shouto's face spasms, or as much as someone like Todoroki Shouto's face can spasm with fear and embarrassment, and Izuku thinks to himself that Shouto really does have a future in acting if this whole Pro thing doesn't work out.
"Haha, very cute." Izuku rolls his eyes.
"How about we head upstairs?" Shouto proposes. "We have a long day tomorrow."
"We do?" Izuku asks, hopping off of his lap.
Shouto gives a small smile, reclaiming his hand. "Yes. I have a date planned for us."
"Ugh, just get married already!" Mina complains.
"This is like watching the main ship in your favorite anime finally get their heads out of their asses," Ochako comments happily.
"I can't think of a better way to end the year," Tsuyu agrees.
"Alright, alright, don't embarrass them!" Tenya chastises good-naturedly. "Midoriya, Todoroki—goodnight. We'll see you both tomorrow, whenever you're free."
"Goodnight!" Izuku calls out, practically skipping as he leaves the restaurant with Shouto's hand still clasped in his own.
"How do you want to decide who showers first?" Shouto asks, hitting the button for the elevator. "Unless you'd rather we save time and shower together?"
Izuku groans.
