A/N: Hello. :) Before I go, I thought I could at least post a new story. And while I do have plans to make Godzilla: Firebreather, a friend told me it'd be best to work on "Kong: Skull Island" first for the monsterverse. In any case, the additional cast members are as follows to go alongside the original cast that appeared in the 2017 movie. This time, Dana Delany as Maragret Roseblatt (reprising her role from Firebreather, as you can probably tell), Anna Akana as Martha Shwartzendruber, and Peter Cullen as Kong will appear. In this story, all the Kaijus can talk, hence the next story, "Godzilla: Firebreather". Until then, you can enjoy a glimpse of the first two characters. The next chapter will be out either later today or in the morning. :)
Kong: Skull Island
Chapter 1: Deadly First Contact
SOMEWHERE OVER THE SOUTH PACIFIC...
1944
One day, a man was falling down onto a sort of beach and landed on the sand as did his plane, which exploded on impact. This man's name is Hank Marlow. Thankfully, he landed via parachute. However, he noticed another plane crashing with someone else landing as well, prompting him to rush over to the other crashed ship. And what's worse, when he got closer to it, he noticed the other person getting up, tossing the parachute off him. That man is known as Gunpei Ikari. Hank drew his gun at him and fired only to miss, giving the enemy the opportunity to drop his parachute equipment and get out a weapon of his own: a pistol. With that, he fired, only to miss as Hank ran. As they ran across the jungle soon after, though, he eventually stopped near the edge of a cliff. After a moment, he turned around to see Ikari holding along sword with a Japanese inscription on it. Hank then tried to evade Ikari only for his enemy to strike and miss, although when he tried to stab him, he was thwarted when he caught the blade. Of course, that didn't mean there wasn't any pain as Ikari slid the sword forward, making him scream in pain as the sword inched closer. But Hank was able to evade the blade before it could pierce him and then strike back. This advantage was short-lived as Ikari got out his dagger and tried to stab him with Hank barely able to stop it from piercing him as it inched closer. It seemed as if Hank was done for when suddenly, out burst giant gorilla hands, interrupting the dogfight. Neither man, one of which dropped the dagger to the ground, could believe their eyes as a sort of giant ape climbed up and roared as he saw the two men in front of him.
January 23, 1973
Nearly 30 years later (29, to be exact), a bunch of protestors were shouting out against the ongoing war.
"Stop the war! Stop the war!", the protestors shouted as a voice spoke up in the alarm.
"As citywide protests have brought congressional committee hearings to a standstill promising more gridlock in the days and weeks ahead, the Beltway is experiencing significant...", the voice began before 4 people, one of which is a man named Bill Randa, spoke up as they got out of the car and entered.
"Mark my words. There'll never be a more screwed up time in Washington. But we can't let it stop us.", Bill said.
"Well... time to get to work.", a woman named Margaret concurred as she, Bill, and their two friends named Houston Brooks and Martha got out with the former holding a briefcase with the Monarch logo on it.
"Come on, already. Let's go!", the taxi driver said.
"Get out of the way!", a civilian added.
Once inside the building, however, Brook voiced his doubts.
"Maybe now's not the best time to ask.", Brooks said.
"But we don't have a choice.", Martha responded.
"Martha's right. Monarch is on the cusp of being shut down, Brooks. We're broke! When this war ends, we'll never get approval for our expedition.", Bill concurred before they four entered another room with someone typing on a keyboard.
"I'm not confident in our presentation. I mean, all of our materials are loose leaf. In one day, one day, I could have had all of this organized and bound.", Brooks said.
"I'm not too sure. Look.", Martha said, pointing to the TV that shows President Nixon making his speech.
"I have asked for this radio and television time tonight for the purpose of announcing that we, today, have concluded an agreement to end the war and bring peace with honor in Vietnam. All American forces will be withdrawn.", the president said.
"We don't have a day.", Bill said before turning to someone nearby.
"Hello, there. Bill Randa and Margaret Rosenblatt here to see Senator Willis.", Bill greeted.
"Of course, Mr. Randa. I left you a message this morning about rescheduling today's appointment. But he should have something available in the coming weeks.", the secretary said.
"Again?", Margaret said annoyedly before someone else walked in.
"Oh, no.", a man named Al sighed.
"Al, you're looking well.", Bill greeted as he and Al shook hands.
"So you guys didn't get the message, Randa? To reschedule?", Al asked.
"For the fifth time? We must've missed it.", Margaret responded.
"It'll be quick.", Bill assured.
Once inside, Al Willis was sitting down.
"Okay, don't get comfortable. You got five minutes. I'm late for a meeting. So, what imaginary monster are you hunting this time?", Al asked as Margaret, Martha, Bill and Brooks sat down.
"Very funny.", Margaret responded.
"This is a satellite photo of an uncharted island in the South Pacific. It has defied discovery until now. Many civilizations spoke of it in legends. Skull Island. The land where God did not finish creation. It's notorious for the number of ships and planes that have gone missing there.", Bill explained as he handed over said images from the satellite on paper to Senator Willis.
"Like the Bermuda Triangle? Or like that aluminum foil hat that I like to wear on the weekends?", the senator asked.
"It's more like the triangle than the hat but we like to think it's much more than that. The 1954 Castle Bravo nuclear tests weren't tests. They were trying to kill something. I believe there's an ecosystem out there the likes of which we can't imagine. And the place to find it is this island. A place where myth and science meet.", Bill explained.
"Randa, it's a fairytale.", Willis said before leaving as Bill continued the conversation as he, Margaret, Martha, and Brooks picked up their stuff.
"Harry Truman didn't think so when he funded Monarch in 1946.", Bill responded.
"You know, in terms of sheer waste, Monarch ranks right up there with the search for alien life.", Willis commented.
"Yeah, but those guys are nuts.", Martha retorted.
"We should have shut you down years ago.", Al said as he continued leaving before Bill spoke up.
"This is an opportunity for our country.", Bill responded.
"Listen, Senator, Landsat is sending a mission to the island. We could piggyback on that operation. With your permission, of course.", Brooks suggested.
"What're you hoping you'll find?", Senator Willis asked as he turned around.
"Resources, medicine, the cure for cancer, geological discoveries. I mean... possible alternate fuels. Senator, look, just... Listen, to be honest, we don't know for sure what's there. Okay? But I will tell you what we do know. Tomorrow night, the Russian Novosat passes over this sector. And in three days, they're gonna have the same images we have. So... whatever's there, you want us to find it first. Right?", Brooks asked, practically surprising Martha and Margaret.
"I don't believe I'm saying this, but that almost made sense.", Al responded.
"Thank you.", Martha responded.
"So, I will get the piggyback for you. I will. But listen to me, listen to me. This is it. It's gotta end. This is it. You promise me? Last favor? Okay?", Al asked before the four all nodded.
Just as he was about to leave, though. Bill stopped him.
"Senator? One last thing. I'm going to need a military escort.", Bill responded.
VIETNAM
Da Nang Air Base
Meanwhile, the army was eagerly packing up and getting ready to go home, eager.
"Attention, all soldiers and base personnel. Final troop withdrawal will commence at 0600. Pack your bags, ladies. We're going home.", the PSA announced before a soldier spoke to another named Glenn Mills.
"Hey, Mills.", the soldier said.
"Yeah?", Mills puzzled.
"How many letters did you end up writing her?", the soldier asked.
"Ten, fifteen.", Mills responded.
"How many did she write you?", a man named Reg Slivko responded.
"I don't know, three, four.", Mills responded, making Slivko inhale sharply before another soldier named Earl Cole spoke up.
"Man, you got a bad mom.", Cole commented before the 2 friends made joyful exclamations.
"Thank you, Cole, for clearing that up. Thank you. I'll be sure to tell her when I see her in the next 48 hours.", Mills responded.
"Yeah, you might have a bad mom.", Slivko guessed before one of his friends chuckled.
"Right?", the soldier grinned.
Meanwhile, a general holding a bottle of Budweiser beer with one hand named General Preston Packard was looking on at the scene of his soldiers getting ready to leave before later sitting down in his office and sighing just as one of his men named Jack Chapman walked in.
"Sir?", Chapman puzzled.
"Chapman.", Preston said.
"You need anything, sir?", Chapman asked.
"All good.", Packard assured.
"Roger that.", Chapman assured.
"So what're you gonna do when you get back to the world, Chapman?", Packard asked as he got out a sort of memorabilia box from past wars of sorts.
"Oh, I'm already set up with Eastern Air Lines. Grace and Billy all moved in in Atlanta, just... waiting on me. What about you, sir?", Chapman asked as Packard then
"All this for what?", Packard said to himself.
"Sir?", Chapman puzzled before Packard sighed.
"Get out of here, Chapman. Go have some fun.", Packard responded.
"Is everything okay?", Chapman puzzled before Packard then raised his feet up to the side of the table in his office.
"Tip-top.", Packard assured before Chapman left.
Several hours later, it was raining heavily with Packard on his way out.
"Colonel Packard! There's a phone call for you.", someone said before Packard walked over to the phone booth and spoke up.
"This is Packard.", Packard said.
"Packard, it's General Ward. You and your boys up for one last op?", Ward asked.
"I would not be opposed to that, sir.", Packard responded.
"Your orders to head home are already processed. Sure you don't wanna take some time?", General Ward asked.
"I'm here to execute whatever orders I'm given, sir.", Packard responded.
"Yeah, well, don't get too excited. Bunch of scientists called Landsat discovered a new island on their satellite. They need helicopter transport for a survey job.", General Ward responded.
"Roger that. And, sir?", Packard asked.
"Yes?", General Ward puzzled.
"Thank you.", Packard responded before hanging up.
SAIGAN
District - Quan Nam
Elsewhere, the group of four were venturing into a sort of pub.
"Is this seriously where this guy hangs out?", Margaret asked.
"I agree. This place is really shady looking.", Martha agreed.
"Randa, I don't get it. You already got us a military escort. Why do we need a tracker? And why SAS?", Brooks asked.
"Former SAS. No allegiance to anyone. And he rescued 12 downed pilots in Danang, in '72.", Bill responded.
"But your source says that he spends most of his waking hours in some back alley watering hole.", Brooks responded.
"Is your Yale degree supposed to lead us through the jungle, Brooks? Besides, my father told me never to judge a man by where he drinks... only how he holds it. You on board with me here?", Bill asked before the four then went inside.
"You go.", Brooks said.
"Well, if you insist.", Martha responded before she and Margaret went first with Bill and Brooks going in next.
"Well. Okay. So, uh... how much do we tell him?", Brooks asked.
"Just enough to get him to say yes.", Bill responded.
"Well, this better be worth it.", Martha responded.
At the same time, nearby, a man was playing pool and was about to take the money when someone stopped him, speaking a foreign language while someone else got out a switchblade and was about to kill him with it only for the man to whack the guy who stopped him with the pool stick and then knock the would've-been assassin out before then dodging the pool balls tossed at him before then knocking him out.
"Okay. He's good.", Martha said.
"Now there's a man worth talking to.", Bill grinned before he and the 3 scientists went over to him and then handed the money to him.
"An uncharted island? Let me list all the ways you're gonna die. Rain, heat, mud, disease carrying flies and mosquitos. Sure, you could load up on the atabrine for the malaria, but what about the other bacteria? And we haven't even started on the things that want to eat you alive.", the man named James Conrad stated.
"We'll double that.", Bill assured.
"You have no idea how dangerous this is. I want five times that. Plus, a bonus if we make it back.", James responded.
"If?", Brooks puzzled nervously.
"Well, pay him. After all, I think Mr. Conrad should be fairly compensated.", Martha suggested.
"Well..., how could we refuse?", Margaret sighed in response.
"Here's to profit during peacetime.", Bill grinned.
"One question. You came here looking for a tracker. Who or what am I tracking?", Conrad puzzled before
"This is all the information that we have. Okay? There is no map. Only satellite images. So we need someone like you, with your skill, your unique expertise in uncharted jungle terrain, to lead us on our ground expedition.", Brooks responded.
"We're just scholars and scientists. We need someone with experience. In case things go sideways.", Margaret responded.
"Ms. Rosenblatt has a point, there. Men go to war in search of something, Mr. Conrad. If you'd found it... you'd be home by now.", Bill agreed.
