First Chapter is a little slow, just setting up the background info

Chapter 1:

The only thing Katie she ever genuinely wanted, was to play Quidditch professionally. Ever since she was little her happiest memories were of watching Quidditch matches with her father. Her upbringing had been wonderful growing up as an only child in a small town in New York.

Katie had spent years begging her dad to let her learn how to fly, Mr. Bell would constantly tell her no and that it was too complicated with Rappaports Law. It was a wizarding law enacted to create absolute segregation between the No-Majs also called muggles and the wizarding communities. It outlawed witches and wizards from even being friends with a No-Maj let alone having a relationship with them. Only allowing simple exchanges that had to be deemed crucial to preform daily activities.

When she was old enough, she was enrolled to Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In her first year she was able to join her house team as a chaser, as her school didn't have any bans on first years. Regrettably, this year the Quidditch season had been canceled because of a breach in security with the No-Majs. She pleaded with her parents to let her do an exchange program for one year or until Quidditch was brought back. Her father agreed and the enrolled her to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, which had a great reputation for their Quidditch team. She had personally trained with a few of them at a Quidditch summer program.

"Katie Bell" McGonagall called out breaking Katie from her thoughts. Heading to the stool, she sat down, the hat soon placed on her head. Katie waited for it to speak, just like it had done with the other students before her. "Hm, just like your father, I know just the place for you. GRIFFINDOR"

One of the tables broke out in applause as the hat was plucked off her head. She stood up from the stool and descended the stairs, finding a seat at her new house table. After a moment two girls suddenly squeezed in next to her. "Hi, I'm Angelina Johnson and this is Alicia Spinnet." The girl sitting directly next to Katie greeted.

Katie glanced sidelong at the two girls, giving them a head-to-toe examination. "It's nice to meet you, I'm Katie Bell" She greeted back, nervously burying her hands in the folds of her black robes. Music and chatter flitted through the air.

"What year are you in?" Alicia questioned poking her head out from behind Angelina to get a better view of her. Food began to magically appear in front of them, Katie took the opportunity to fill up her plate, with corn, potatoes, and chicken.

Katie glanced up at the enchanted ceiling before she spoke. "This will be my fourth year, I'm an exchange student from America."

Suddenly, Alicia grabbed Katie's hand and squeezed it. Her fingers were surprisingly calloused-in all the same spots as where a broom handle might rest. "We are in the same year! Don't tell me you play Quidditch too!" Alicia squealed, her eyes glittering.

"I've always played as a chaser." She watched the girls for a moment. It would be a miracle to make friends on the first day.

Alicia flashed her a winning smile. "We both do as well! That would be so cool to have an all-female chaser team." Alicia stated giving her the run down of who was on the team the year prior.

Eventually they moved to the end of the table and introduced Katie to the rest of the Quidditch team. The two beaters were identical twins names Fred and George Weasley while the keeper who was the captain of the team was named Oliver Wood. He was handsome, in a charming way.

Angelina flirted with George, latching onto his arm, and resting her head against it while she talked. She couldn't help but gaze at Oliver as she took a bite of bread. There was something about him. His eyes, a pale grey blue with flecks of gold, were remarkably warm. He was skinny but handsome, and there was a presence of hidden strength about him. After a few moments Oliver and Katie's eyes connected, realizing she had been caught she tried to play it off "You have food in your teeth." She stated before looking back at Angelina. Although she did not miss the slight pink tint to the young Scottish boy's cheeks as he attempted to pick it out with his nail, turning his head away from the table.

Katie lay on her bed, gazing at a pool of moonlight on the ground. It filled in the dusty gaps between the stone and turned everything a blueish silver. Katie was done getting ready for the night as she wrote her parents a short letter, telling them about being sorted into Gryffindor. Katie had been thrilled to find out that her father was in Gryffindor when he had attended school. Why hadn't he mentioned attending Hogwarts to her? Rolling it up she tied the letter to her grey owl's ankle. "Capone, take this home please" The owl hooted at her before flying off.

It was the start of the second week of school, and Katie could not be more excited, Quidditch try outs were today. She had received a letter from her parents, letting her know that they would not be signing her permission slip for Hogsmeade. They explained that Katie's uncle worked at Spintwitche's Quidditch Store and they wanted her no where near him.

Katie didn't know much about him, never having met him, and her parents hardly ever mentioned him. From what she knew, her grandfather had set up arranged marriages for both his sons when they became of age. Katie's father Cassius, and her mother Caroline had married, after years of trying to get pregnant and a miscarriage, they finally had Katie. Years later when it was her uncle Theodore's turn to get married at age eighteen, he made a different choice and ended up killing his wife during her pregnancy. He had been in love with a No-Maj, and was immediately arrested and sent to Azkaban for eleven years, only just getting out a couple years ago.

Katie had a good relationship with her father, despite him being a stern man. He was a tall middle-aged man with sandy brown hair and sapphire blue eyes. While her mom was middle-aged as well with blonde hair and dark green eyes. On the other hand, Katie didn't get along with her mother all that well, she was a strict woman who wanted things to be done in a particular way.

She had spent the better part of the morning completely distracted and unfocused. Not paying much attention in her Monday morning Herbology class with the Hufflepuff's. When class was over, she ran from the room as quick as she could, followed by Angelina yelling for her to slow down. When they arrived on the pitch, Alicia was already waiting for them along with Oliver Wood and a few other kids. Soon after George and Fred joined them on the pitch laughing loudly, but as soon as Oliver began speaking everyone quieted down.

"Okay thank you everyone for coming to tryouts, for the Gryffindor quidditch team. A few things before we start, just because you were on the team last year does not mean you will make it this year." Fred and George Weasley sighed very loudly clearly annoyed with the news. "I want a strong team to beat Slytherin this year."

They spent a couple hours running through drills, Oliver Wood making notes every so often. Eventually deciding to switch to a scrimmage. Katie flew quickly, managing to escape bludgers send her way by one of the Weasley brothers. It was clear that Katie's team had a higher ratio of possession of the Quaffle compared to her opponents. Katie's team did a wonderful job, in pushing her team towards a victory, having strong defensive tactics, while also dominating their offensive tactics. The other team clearly didn't stand a chance, against the three female chasers. Making no errors, they sent Quaffle after Quaffle through the hoops.

Tryouts were finally finished, and Katie flew back to the ground with the others. It would not be another week or so until the team was announced, Oliver Wood not liking any of the seekers that had tried out. Katie was elated when she found out she made the team. They had spent the next month and a half practicing five days a week at the crack of dawn. Oliver was determined to win this year even if it meant that his whole team hated him for all the grueling practices.

It was finally Halloween and classes were done for the week. The day before had been the first Hogsmeade trip of the year that coincided with Angelina's birthday. Katie unfortunately couldn't go, but the girls had been sweet and had gotten her a costume for the halloween party that night.

After dinner, the girls rushed to their room and got ready for the night. Angelina was dressed in a black and white catholic schoolgirl outfit with her hair tied in pigtails. Alicia's costume was a little less revealing, opting to go for an Egyptian goddess. The girls had chosen a little red riding hood outfit for Katie. It was a cute black dress that landed just above her knees, adorned with a short red cape and red heels. Katie had spent time getting the perfect beach curls and applying a little more makeup than she usually does. Even adding a red smokey eye shadow.

"Alright ladies it's time to go out there and dance with some cute boys." Angelina stated raising her cup in the air before drinking more.

"What about George" Katie asked. She knew that Angelina fancied George but beside from flirting he had not made a move as far as she knew, and Angelina had not invited him to the Halloween party with the Hufflepuff's. Cedric Diggory had asked Alicia earlier in the week and said she could bring her female friends. Probably not wanting Fred and George to start any trouble or get the other kids caught. They were at times quite eccentric.

"That wanker still hasn't made a move and I'm not letting him hold back" she huffed back.

They eventually found themselves sneaking out past curfew. All the girls clutching their heels to themselves to be as quiet as possible. Finding themselves outside of a door, Angelina explained that it was called the room of requirement and would change depending on what was wanted. Alicia cast a silencing charm before opening the door. Putting their heels back on they slipped into the room.

The room looked like an ordinary living room with a few couches and even a full kitchen. It was crowded with mostly older kids, all drinking and having fun. They made their way into the kitchen having to squeeze through the crowds of people. When they found the alcohol, Angelina poured the three girl's shots. "Ready…Go" Angelina shouted slamming the drink along with the other two girls.

Alicia shouted "The music is calling me ladies."

Later in the night Katie was briefly left alone while the other two went to the bathroom. She had just finished pouring them drinks. Turning from the counter she looked around to see if she could spot the girls yet. She scanned over the crowds and then she noticed him. He was tall with powerful sculpted shoulders, fierce eyes, and a face that was hardened almost brutal.

It took her a couple seconds to recognize him from her summer quidditch camp. He was an incredible flyer and a great chaser; they had played in a few scrimmages. Though they had not talked much during the summer, just quidditch plays between matches. If she remembered correctly his name was Marcus Flint. She could not help the slight blush that rose to her cheeks thinking about how he was rather kind of handsome out of his normal quidditch attire. He was not dressed in full costume like the rest of the kids. Wearing black slacks, a tight black t-shirt which showed off his rather large biceps for his age. While his neck was smeared with fake blood, a darker red shade that dripped down.

She had always found taller guys to be attractive. Unfortunately, there were not many guys in the school that stood over six foot tall.

When she returned her eyes to his face, she noticed Marcus was looking at her from across the room. She felt the heat again rise to her cheeks, unsure if she should look away or not. Maintaining eye contact with her, he excused himself from his friends and made his way over to her. Taking a step forward, she was suddenly yanked backward. Glancing up at the person she noticed it was Alicia. She continued to drag her in the opposite direction, away from the drinks she had just poured, and away from him.

"We have to go; Angelina was in the bathroom speaking Welsh. She's by the exit waiting for us." Alicia said.

Katie's feet scrambled to keep up with Alicia. Looking behind her she noticed Marcus had stopped in his tracks. He had an inscrutable look upon his face, before she could utter a word, she was dragged away and out of the room. Now understanding that speaking Welsh meant throwing up, because there was Angelina with vomit all over her costume.
