A/N: And this is where Packard puts his plan into motion. Of course, while I like the actor, I don't really like Packard because he was taking his anger out on the wrong enemy and he doesn't seem to care. So, I figured that he'd at least get shot once before his original death (which is getting crushed by Kong before he could finish his swearing).

Kong: Skull Island

The Big One Awakens

At the same time, Martha climbed up to the top of the mountain with Conrad, Margaret, and Weaver catching up to her at the top.

"Where is he?", Martha asked in worry.

"The boat must be around that bend.", Conrad stated.

Before Martha could say anything in annoyance, a sudden thumping was heard. Then, little by little, the thumping grew louder and louder up until who should appear before the 4, but Kong himself.

"LITTLE HUMANS LEAVE NOW! OR LITTLE HUMANS DIE.", Kong warned.

"We don't mean you any harm, Kong. Well, at least, not one of us here before you.", Martha responded as she stepped forward cautiously and then gently pressed her hand on Kong's nose.

After a moment of awe, and joy on Weaver's part, Kong stepped back.

"NOT MEAN TO HARM? WHAT DO LITTLE PEOPLE WANT?", Kong asked.

"Listen. Packard and his men are coming for you. He wants you dead for what happened back when you were defending your territory.", Margaret warned.

"We understand that you were just doing what was best for your territory now, but Packard doesn't. He'd do anything to try and get you to come out so he can end you!", Martha added just before the bombs exploded, attracting his attention.

"Like that.", Martha added.

"STILL LEAVE FOR OWN SAFETY.", Kong said before then walking off after the cause of the explosion.

"We have to go. Now.", Conrad urged before he and Weaver took off.

"I almost forgot how stubborn Kong is.", Martha sighed before she and Margaret followed after the two.

Meanwhile, Packard and his men stood their ground with Kong shown to have arrived, indicated by the fire lighting up behind him with Packard glaring at Kong, who roared just as elsewhere, Brooks heard a rustling noise and prepped his gun, ready to fire only for Conrad to speak up.

"Don't shoot!", Conrad shouted.

"Conrad, which way are we going?", Brooks asked after lowering his weapon.

"You three need to go back to the boat. It's that way. Wait for us till dawn. If we're not back by then..., just go.", Conrad urged.

"Heh. You ain't gotta twist my arm.", Mr. Brooks replied before taking off.

"Where are you guys going?", Hank asked.

"We're going to save Kong.", Conrad responded, making Martha widen her eyes.

"Really?", Martha asked in slight surprise.

"Not without me, pal.", Hank responded before putting his blade back in the scabbard.

Back to the forest, Kong stood in the water with him and Packard staring each other down before the former pounded his chest, roared, and then stormed through the water only to fall into Packard's trap as the vengeful colonel set the water on fire, burning Kong in the process and making him roar in pain as the fire seemingly consumed him. While Packard stared gleefully at his demise, everyone else felt sorry for Kong, who eventually burst out from the fire and splashed the water onto one of the soldiers, burning him alive before Kong then went toward Steve.

"Oh, dear.", Steve said before Kong promptly crushed him only to then fall limp and land on his side while Conrad, Weaver, Martha, Margaret, and Hank ran across the forest.

"Men! Place your charges. It's time to show Kong... that man is king!", Packard ordered before said charges were set up around Kong.

"Arm one.", Cole said.

"Arm two.", Mills said.

"Arm three.", Slivko added as each charge was set up with Packard prepping the detonator.

"Packard!", Conrad shouted as he aimed his weapon while Packard's men aimed as well.

"Don't do it.", Conrad warned before Hank drew his sword and placed it near Cole while aiming his gun at Slivko.

"I asked you fellas nice the first time.", Hank said before Slivko prepared to aim.

"We don't wanna fight here, Packard.", Conrad said.

"This thing brought us down! It killed my men!", Packard shouted.

"Kong was just defending his territory.", Conrad retorted.

"We are soldiers! We do the dirty work so our families and our countrymen don't have to be afraid! They shouldn't even know a thing like this exists!", Packard shouted.

"Should've known you can't reason with crazy!", Martha glared angrily.

"She's right. You've lost your mind. Put that detonator down.", Conrad urged.

However, after a moment, Packard only did the opposite: priming the detonator for activation as a red light lit up.

"Why, you little...!", Martha shouted, preparing to shoot Packard.

But then, someone quickly beat her to it, hitting him squarely in the shoulder and making him drop the detonator in the ground, fortunately at the back where there was no button to be pressed, surprising even Martha as Conrad glared at her.

"Wasn't me.", Martha said.

"She's right. It was me.", Margaret said as she then aimed her gun at Mills next.

"Make one wrong move... and I'll put a bullet right through your heart. Same with all of you. Do you hear me?", Margaret threatened.

"Dang girl...", Mills sighed.

"I think I like this woman as a friend already.", Hank grinned.

"But it doesn't have to end like this. The world is bigger than this.", Margaret said before Packard stood up as best he could.

"Did you just...?", Packard began.

"Shoot you? Yeah. And we're gonna do it again if you lay so much as a finger on that detonator!", Margaret threatened angrily.

"Lady, please! Slivko, get her out of there!", Packard ordered.

"You know it's the wrong thing to do, son.", Hank warned.

It seemed like Slivko was at odds with making his decision. After a few moments, fortunately, Slivko turned his gun toward Packard.

"Put it down, sir.", Slivko requested only for Packard to try and reach for the detonator only for Conrad to shout to him.

"Packard!", Conrad shouted.

Then, everyone lowered their weapons calmly.

"Come on. It's over.", Conrad said.

"Nothing's over while I'm breathing.", Packard retorted before there was a sudden bubbling noise from the water nearby.

"For once, Colonel..., I think we can agree.", Martha said before suddenly, a Skull Crawler jumped out from the water and landed on its two feet.

But that Skull Crawler is different. Matter of fact, it's larger than the last Skull Crawler that was dealt with.

"That's the big one.", Hank said.

A/N: Looks like things are getting real now. And there is one surprise appearance for this story during the fight against the giant Skull Crawler, and I think you'll be very pleased to find out whom once chapters 9 and 10 come out later today. :)
