Six years later...
The morning sun lit up your bedroom, the warmth on your skin causing you to wake. You were staying with Jeremiah for a few weeks, as your parents didn't want you staying in your house alone, so they sent you to stay with Jeremiah for the Christmas break.
Looking around, you realised that it was already past midday, so you jumped out of bed and got dressed.
You were about to put on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt when you glanced out the window and realised it was snowing.
This brightened your mood almost instantly, so you threw on a pair of sweatpants, a long-sleeved top and a woolly jumper.
Rushing out into the living room, you saw Jeremiah sitting on the couch reading a book, the fireplace on and the large, fluffy, white Christmas tree in the corner of the room lit up brightly.
"Oi, Jeremiah! Why didn't you wake me up!" you whined, stomping playfully over towards him. He looked up from the book and shurgged, obviously more interested in the book than the snow outside.
"Jeremiah! Please can we go outside?" you begged, not wanting to play in the snow without him. Sighing, he got up.
He easily towered over you. "Fine. Go get your snow stuff on and meet me outside." he said, walking past you into his room to get ready.
Walking out the front door of the apartment building, you saw Jeremiah leaning against the railing.
Skipping down the steps joyfully, you pulled him along the snowy street, until you reached an area where enough snow was present.
"Okay, uh, what are we doing?" he asked, watching as you began forming bricks from the snow. "We're making an igloo, dummy!" you giggled, throwing a snowball at him playfully.
It hit him in the stomach, and he laughed with you as the two of you began building the igloo.
Once the igloo was finished, you hurried inside to grab some snacks. You grabbed a packet of marshmellows, a tub of frosting, cheetos, and some chocolate.
Upon returning, you found Jeremiah sitting on the curb, his arm around a young girl who looked about your age. She had tear streaks running down her face and her long, rose red hair was all matted and knotty.
You hurried down the stairs, and over towards the igloo to put the snacks inside of, then back to Jeremiah.
"Miah, what's wrong? Who's this?" you asked, sitting down next to him on the icy curb. "This is Victoria, she used to live at the circus like me." he explained.
"Is it alright if I stay here for a few days? My parents kicked me out." Victoria asked, rather shyly, her tears still dripping down her pale cheeks. I nodded my head, looking to Jeremiah. "Yeah, of course. You can sleep on the couch, it's really comfortable." He said, helping Victoria up from the curb.
The three of you were in the igloo now, the small snow creation being just big enough for three if one person lay on top of one of the others. Victoria lay on top of Jeremiah, as he gently ran his hands through her now brushed hair.
You couldn't help but feel a tiny bit of jealousy rise in your chest as you watched the two of them laugh about memories they shared. You didn't know if you saw it correctly, but you could have sworn you saw something in Jeremiah's eye that was a look of more than friendship.
Affection?
No. You shook the thoughts out of your head and sat up, bumping your head on the roof of the igloo slightly.
"Hey. How about we go have a snowball fight?" you suggested, looking at Jeremiah for approval. His eyes lit up.
"Yeah, that sounds like a great idea Y/n. How about we head to Gotham City Park? I heard there's a lot of snow around there!" Jeremiah said as Victoria crawled off of him.
You were crouched behind a large rock, a mound of snowballs beside you. Picking two of the snowballs up, you peered over the edge of the rock, spotting Jeremiah crouching behind a tree.
You took aim and hurled the two snowballs at him, then ducked back down behind the rock. A few seconds later a snowball hit you in the face, the icy water sending chills up your spine.
You grabbed a snowball and threw it in the direction from where the other had hit you. You heard a thump and looked around, only to be hit in the side by two separate snowballs at the same time.
"Hey! No fair! I was unarmed!" you squealed as you fell down, only to be caught seconds before your bum hit the snowy ground.
In a matter of seconds, you were whisked behind a nearby tree, out of sight of anyone nearby as the tree was beside the large, stadium-like-steps in the park. Jeremiah placed a finger to his lips, and you nodded.
"What was going on back there?" he questioned, obviously irritated. "What are you talking about Jeremiah?" you replied, oblivious to what he was even talking about.
He snorted. "I mean back in the igloo, when Victoria was laying on me. Do you not like her?" he said.
"No, Miah! I just don't like how she looks at you!" you answered. Jeremiah looked confused for a moment, before realizing what was going on. He stared at you for a moment. Cupping your cheek gently, he closed the gap between the two of you, your lips locking for a few short yet sweet moments.
"Y/n," Jeremiah said, breaking the kiss and looking at you with affectionate eyes, his face red and blushing. "I see Victoria as nothing but a friend. You don't need to worry." You nodded, blushing profusely from the short kiss.
"But for now, I think that it's best if we just stay friends. I don't wanna ruin what we already have just yet." Jeremiah said, cupping your face in his hands. You nodded once more, slightly disappointed as you looked to the ground.
"Hey." He said, causing you to look up at his deep green eyes. He kissed you gently on the lips once more, before looking at you and smiling.
"I'll wait for you if you wait for me. It's just not the right time. Besides, I think your parents like me." Jeremiah said, the last part sounding rather cocky.
You giggled and watched as he walked away, you following shortly afterwards.
