Saturday afternoon found Alec and Magnus in their apartment, getting ready for their weekly date.
Well, Magnus was still getting ready.
Alec was lying down on their bed, the picture of casual and composed, reading a well-thumbed paperback, waiting for Magnus to finish. He had been deemed 'okay to be seen in public with me' by his husband, wearing the new sweater that Izzy had bought him last week (it was the only one he had without holes), and a pair of grey jeans that Magnus claimed made his ass look fantastic (he liked how Magnus looked at him when he was wearing them).
The bedroom, on the other hand, was the opposite of composed. It looked as though it had been on the path of a tornado with an affinity for clothes.
The doors of Magnus' walk-in closet were wide open, and clothes were strewn everywhere. Magnus was on a mission. It had been a while since the both of them had a day off, and he was going to look his absolute best for it.
Which is why he was standing in his closet, shirtless, frantically looking for a shirt that would go perfectly with his printed bomber jacket.
Alec looked up at his husband. "Hey Mags, are you done yet?" he asked. "We are going to miss our reservation."
"Fashion cannot be rushed, Alexander!"
Alec rolled his eyes, fondly exasperated.
"Oh! Found it! Okay, which one would look better, darling?"
Alec looked up, cocking an eyebrow. "Magnus, babe, aren't they both the same colour?"
Magnus huffed. "Alec, I love you, but Lilith, your fashion skills are non-existent. This shirt is a pale chartreuse, and this is a lemon yellow. Honestly, darling. "
Alec rolled his eyes. He gets up, pressing a kiss to Magnus' cheek. "Whatever. I don't care. You look good in everything."
"Sap."
"You love it," he retorted.
"Flattery is not going to make me pick anything any faster."
"It was worth a try."
"You know, maybe I'll just ditch the shirt altogether, then," Magnus said slyly.
Alec spluttered. "Magnus- what- no!"
Magnus laughed. "I was kidding. Mostly."
"Magnus!"
Magnus laughed delightedly. "You look so cute when you blush, you know?"
"Stop it," Alec grumbled, hiding his face in the cushions.
Magnus snickered and finally put on a shirt. Alec stared at him disappointedly.
"C'mon Alexander, we'll miss our reservation," Magnus quipped, smirking.
"I hate you."
"And people say I'm the dramatic one in this relationship."
"You claimed you were going to die yesterday because of a papercut."
"Paper cuts are very dangerous Alexander! I lost a lot of blood! And I would have died if it weren't for your quick action, my knight in shining, uh, sweaters."
Alec laughed. "Let's go, my dramatic damsel in distress, and enjoy a day without our children."
"We are terrible parents."
The two may have been as different as chartreuse and lemon yellow (for Magnus), but they fit together as well as Magnus' perfectly crafted ensemble in the end.
Hope you liked that! Constructive criticism is always welcome :) Feel free to point out any mistakes! Love y'all and see you next week (hopefully).
