Alec snorted.
"If you say 'what reputation', I will tell Magnus about your secret stash of sweaters!"

The pair of parabatai were in the most unlikely place they could ever be in. A cosmetics store. Surrounded by glittery makeup.
"Why are we even here?" Jace whined again. "None of us know a thing about all this glittery shit."
"Yeah, well, my husband loves this glittery shit so I'm getting some for him."
"There you go again, making everyone else in the boyfriend department look bad."

The first time Alec had bought Magnus something was when they had been dating for a few months and Alec had all but moved in.
Alec had spotted a beautiful bouquet of yellow and orange peonies on his way back to the loft. They were bright and cheerful and had reminded him of Magnus.
When Alec had given Magnus the bouquet, Magnus had looked at him in surprise.
"I got you something," Alec had said, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly.
Magnus looked at the bouquet and then back at Alec, face vulnerable. "Me?" he'd asked.
"Yeah. I saw them on the way here and they reminded me of you."
"No one has ever given me flowers before," Magnus mumbled.
"The lady at the shop said peonies mean good luck and fortune," Alec said, smiling at Magnus like he was Alec's whole world. When Magnus continued to be struck speechless, Alec backpedalled. "It's okay, you-you don't have to like them, I'll-"
Magnus beamed brightly, putting a finger on Alec's lips. "Alexander, I love them. Thank you."
Magnus had looked so surprised at the gesture, that Alec swore to himself that he would buy his boyfriend gifts, just because, so Magnus stopped being surprised that he deserved such love.
…
So here he was, dragging a miserable Jace through the colorful aisles brimming with every kind of vanity product under the sun.
Half an hour of dealing with chirpy, giggling assistants (who flirted with both of them) and a complaining Jace later, Alec was armed with a dainty little shopping bag, a whirling head full of random makeup terminology (like seriously, baking?), and a raging headache.
When he told Jace he was done, the latter replied with a "Great. Should we buy Magnus the moon next?"
Alec took that to mean that he had cashed out all his favours from his parabatai for the next year. He left a grumbling Jace to go back to his girlfriend.
…
"Mags, I'm home!" Alec called out.
"Hello darling," Magnus said, coming out of his apothecary.
Alec smiled at his husband, feeling his headache dissipate. He pulled Magnus close and kissed him. When they broke apart, Alec held out the bag to his husband, remembering. "I got you something. Here, open it."
"Oh, darling, you spoil me."
Alec pulled Magnus in for a hug, pressing a soft kiss to his forehead. "You deserve it, love," he said simply.
My brain currently hates short word limits and is now not talking to me but whatever.
Soo anyway, I watched the omamori charm part again for this and fuckk why are they so cute and perfect ahhh… Magnus' 'me?' was just heartbreaking and his soft look and the way Alec looks at him and the adorableness and thoughtfulness and asjkdfhkjkldf; stop me before I die of so much fucking love for them...
Aand, who else is a slut for Alec looking at Magnus like he's Alec's whole world? alkhjdkalsdf aren't they just adorable?
