Chapter 6
"That was you!" James was ecstatic when Maggie and Sirius came into the common room after flying all night.
"Yep, I pushed her off the Astronomy tower last night!" Sirius said proud of himself. "You guys have got to ride her. It's wicked!"
Maggie yawns and gets off the couch. "I'm gonna get ready for class. Meet you guys at breakfast?"
The boys nod and they all go their own ways.
The rest of the day the marauders get through their classes while thinking about how the school has been smooth sailing for a while, it is time for some boat rocking.
"What do you guys think about a Marauder style prank-a-thon either individual house pranks or something for the whole school?" Sirius asks as they are sitting around in the common room. Remus and Maggie are writing their potions essays and James and Peter are reading Quidditch Weekly while Sirius is laying on the floor by the fire with his feet on the couch.
"What is this 'or' you speak of? James responds with a smirk.
"I want Ravenclaw!" Maggie says quickly while flinging her hand into the air.
The others look at her surprised by the sudden enthusiasm.
"There's that enthusiasm I'm looking for! Yes, Maggie gets Ravenclaw, I will take Slytherin, Remus you get Gryffindor, and Pete the puffs. Sirius you are gonna start planning for the entire school." James says taking charge.
The next day they are all seen in the library which causes waves of concern to ripple throughout the school. Mischief is afoot and anticipation is at an all time high.
Maggie sneaked into the kitchens to cast her spell. She found a concealment spell that will work nicely and cause quite a buzz in Ravenclaw tower. She cast it on all of the Ravenclaw goblets while Sirius distracted the house elves.
Maggie joined her friends in the Great Hall for breakfast and watched with a smile as the students at Ravenclaw ate their breakfasts and more importantly drank their morning beverages.
"What did you do? I don't see anything?" Peter said and the other Marauders leaned closer to her.
"You will see later today. It has already started, but it could take a bit to be noticed-"
Just then students over at the Ravenclaw table started to talk agitatedly. Professor Flitwick was approached by a prefect. She showed him something in her book and he looked confused. He got up and quickly walked along the table looking at other books.
"What did you do?" Remus asked looking confused as they watched the Ravenclaw head of house walking the table trying to calm his students.
"A small concealment charm used by professors that prefer students stay with the rest of the class instead of reading ahead. All their books only show this week's lessons." Professor Flitwick waved his wand over another book and looked confused since there was no spell on the book.
"You put the spell on the viewer instead of the content. That's brilliant!" Remus said looking impressed.
"How long will it last?" Sirius asked.
"Friday or until it is removed." Maggie says while taking another bite of her toast.
"I guess we need to think big for the rest of the houses." James says and the rest nod.
A few days later Professor Flitwick is at his wits end. He has been sending students out of his office and classroom with orders to find something noneducational to spend their free time doing. The entire Ravenclaw house is in distress.
"It's time for my prank!" James says with a smile at breakfast. He waved his wand under the table and muttered a spell. The Slytherin students were suddenly covered by a green fog that seemed to come from nowhere. Professor Slughorn got up quickly and cast a spell to dispel the fog. When the students reappeared, they were all bright green. Head to toe their skin hair and clothes were all dyed lime green.
"Aww a classic. Well done, Prongs." Sirius smiles.
"What is the time frame for this one?" Maggie asks as they all watch different professors trying to remove the dye.
"A week." James says proudly.
Peter smiles and says "That's how long mine is going to last too."
"Have you done yours yet?" Remus asks.
Peter nods and they all turn their attention to the Hufflepuff table. No one is eating. They all look confused.
"What are they looking at?" Sirius asks squinting in that direction.
"I forged a letter from Dumbledore to the house elves in the kitchen saying that the Hufflepuff table is going on a sweet-free diet until next week." Peter said proudly.
Maggie choked on her tea and James broke down laughing.
They all finish their food and continue their day.
The next day Remus was sitting straight in his chair watching the professors.
"Is it time for Moony's prank?" Pete asked looking nervous.
Remus smiles mischievously. He reached out to fill his cup with tea then before grabbing it he grabbed the orange juice instead. Maggie's eyes went wide since she had just poured tea into her cup. He then reached for the bacon and redirected to the sausage. Peter gasped with bacon in his mouth.
Remus laughed and said, "Too late, I pranked our house last night."
Maggie laughed and Peter looked like he was going to be sick.
No one noticed anything until classes started. In transfiguration McGonagall asked at which point in the incantation do you swish your wand and the result. Remus and Lily both shot their hands up. McGonagall called Lily and once she correctly answered the question and was awarded 5 points to Gryffindor. This set off the prank.
Fireworks started shooting out of Lily's ears in Gryffindor colors. She opened her mouth and shouted, "I'M A WINNER!" before everything went silent. Then laughter erupted from everyone. This carried on in every class that Gryffindor was awarded points. Lily Evans was one of the main victims in this prank, but she took it in stride.
Finally, once all the pranks had settled down Sirius decided to move forward with his prank for the entire school. The only problem was avoiding professors and Filch at night.
This problem bore the conception of a map. The marauders worked together to create a map of the school that tracked where anyone inside of it. This project took so long that the marauders forgot about Sirius' prank. This made it even more surprising when he finally managed to pull it.
When students got up the morning of the prank, they headed to the Great Hall only to find that the door was locked. When the professors arrived, they managed to open the doors only to be met with a hallway. They carefully walked into the hallway and the floor shifted and swept them into chairs lined up along a wall. A few Gryffindor students walked in and were quickly placed on a bench across the dark room. A Ravenclaw, Slytherin, and Hufflepuff ended up walking too close and were quickly placed on the same bench as the other students. Then the hallway seemed to dissolve, and all the other students walked carefully into the dark room. Then an obstacle course became illuminated. The professors were obviously the judges and the first students that came in were the competitors. The other students took their seats in the stands on the far side of the room. The professors looked irritated and a bit curious, while Professor Dumbledore looked excited by the development.
Everyone looked to him when he stood from the bench. "I suppose classes are cancelled today in light, well, that." He says waving his hand at the course. He then sits down, and baskets of baked goods and water appear around the room.
The competitors begin the course and soon other students are jumping into the line to go next. Each obstacle has the students answer a year appropriate question or cast a charm or transfigure an item. By the end the professors are impressed and inspired to make mini courses part of their curriculum.
The Marauders cornered Sirius that evening in the common room.
"How did you do that?!" Maggie asked.
"I had waaaaaay too much time on my hands. The power was too great! You can't expect me to pull a small prank when I have over a month to get it together! I was going to make clouds of house-colored confetti follow everyone, but then I thought about that room you were going to shove us in and I kind of lost control…"
"Kind of. He says kind of." James repeats looking at his friend like he's crazy.
They, of course, got caught for some of the pranks and were given enough detentions to keep them out of trouble for a while. Professor Flitwick was so impressed by Maggie's spell work that he gave Gryffindor 50 points to go with her detention. The rest of the year they decide to ride out their time since it would be hard to make a better prank.
AN: Chaos is looming in my near future so double upload due to stress writing. Hopefully updates won't be affected for a while, but really no telling. If all goes according to plan the next one should be up next week. Thank you for the follows and favorites. Please review! See you next time. -A.
