Requested by The Metal Overlord. Tails has built a new device, but something in it goes wrong and he ends up a part of the internet. Luckily for him, he finds Nicole who offers to help him out. Before that though, the two of them 'Integrate' with each other.

Hey guys! How's it going? I actually don't have much to say this time. Soooo... let's just get straight into it. No notes will be at the bottom this time. Let's just enjoy this fic eh? Hope you enjoy!

Deep inside the base of Freedom Fighting H.Q, our favourite twin tailed fox pilot was hard at work. Tails had always had a knack for tinkering, and he always did whatever he could to create new devices or technology for his team to use during missions. But this new device he was simply making just for kicks and to give himself and his friends a new world to explore.

On their team, they had a friend named Nicole the Holo-Lynx. Nicole was an A.I that was created initially as a friend to the leader of the team, Princess Sally Acorn. Overtime, Nicole had soon developed into a hologram that took the form of a cute lynx girl that had bright green eyes and wore a purple toga. As the years went on, Nicole had begun to evolve, using a special form of technology known as 'nanites' to not only take a more physical form that could interact with anything in the real world. But also make up an entire city of her own. The entire city of Knothole was powered by her.

There had been plenty of bumps in the road when it came to the city trusting Nicole, especially when she had been turned to the dark side by the awful Iron Queen. But eventually, thanks to the help of her friends, the city grew to trust her.

Nicole had done so much for the city, and there was so much for her to explore in the real world. But Tails wanted to know what it was like in the place that Nicole would probably call home, which would be in the realms of the digital world. Tails remembered the day when Nicole first saw how beautiful the real world was. It made him wonder what it was like in the digital world that Nicole originated from. So unknown to all of his friends, he had begun work on a device that would send him inside of the Freedom H.Q computer.

And he was nearly finished. He had calibrated the final distributors and connected the right power cords to the computer, which connected to the headset that Tails would wear to enter the computer, which resembled that of a virtual reality headset. Tails's plan was to have the machine transfer his consciousness into the computer, so he could see the digital world built up inside of it. He would wander around for a few seconds to make sure that the process was completely safe, and deliver his consciousness back into his body.

"Right" said Tails, placing his hands on his hips as he admired his work "That oughta do it. Now to see what it's like in the computer world. I hope I find it as cool as Nicole found our world. Maybe I'll even run into her. I'd bet that'd surprise her."

The fox chuckled to himself as he climbed into the armchair and settled himself into it, taking hold of the headset. He tucked it under his arms and typed in a few commands into the number pad that was embedded into the left arm of the chair. He then pressed a red button on the right arm and spoke into the microphone that was above it.

"Computer Consciousness Transmitter Test 1" he said "Everything's going well so far. I'm about to put on the headset. If all goes well, my body should go completely limp and my conscious thoughts should enter the computer and allow me to look around in the small world of the digital device. Test starting in 3… 2… 1…"

The fox released the red button and placed the headset on his head. He couldn't see out of it, but instead a bright green light started to glow in front of his eyes. This is what the machine should be doing according to Tails's calculations. Eventually the green light would give an almost blinding flash, and then the next thing he should see an entire digital world. Everything was going as it should so far.

But then the light began to fade to red and a sudden beeping sound made Tails jump in his seat. Something was wrong as a computerised voice began to blare in the room.

"ERROR! INTRUDER!" came a female voice from the computer that Tails was connected to, a voice that Tails knew too well. His eyes widened, he had messed up big time. He was supposed to tell Nicole beforehand so that she wouldn't believe he was someone trying to hack the Freedom H.Q computer trying to steal away important information.

"Wait! No!" cried Tails as he reached up to his head to pull the device off of him "I'm not- YOW!"

Tails felt his hands get zapped as he used them to touch the headset he was wearing. It shocked him, suddenly he felt his entire body vibrating in the chair. What was happening!? Before he could shout for help, the fox felt himself being pulled into the headset he was wearing, his body shrinking painfully as he was sucked into it, until he disappeared.

Tails screamed at the top of his lungs as he was shot through a dark black tube that was leading lord knows where. He had no idea what the consequences would be for not warning Nicole that he was trying something with the computer, but he was frightened that he was about to find out.

Finally, Tails saw himself heading straight towards an opening and he fell out of the tube, landing on a green surface, landing smack on his face. He groaned in pain as he slowly got to his feet, rubbing his face to rid him of all the stars circling his head from the impact of the fall. But when he opened his eyes, his pupils shrunk in a mixture of amazement and horror.

Tails found himself in a massive world that seemed to shape up a landscape made out of computer add-ons, software and codes. The ground he landed on was not a grassy type of green, but a cyber looking green and it was in the shape of a computer grid matrix, it surrounded him like sand of a desert taking the shape of several hills. There were several wires and keyboard keys that seemed to be the computer world's version of trees, bushes and flowers. Tails could even see little computer mouse's slithering around the ground, almost like they were the little animals in this world. And the sky was a dark black abyss filled with several green zeroes and ones travelling through it.

"Woah… this place is… incredible" said Tails, looking all around him, taking in his surroundings "I wonder if this is what Nicole is used to?"

This is sort of what Tails was trying to achieve. To see the world for what it was inside of a computer. But it wasn't supposed to be like this. Only his consciousness was supposed to enter the computer and take a shape that would allow him to move around the little world, kind of like how Nicole could do it in the real world. But his entire body wasn't supposed to be sucked into the computer. Now he was stuck in this world with no way to get out, and no one to help him. He didn't even have a way to communicate with the real world. He was suddenly in panic mode again.

"This isn't how I wanted to die!" said Tails, clutching his head in a panic as he started pacing around in circles "Not alone in an empty computer void!"

Everything would have gone just fine had he warned Nicole that he was going to try and enter the computer itself. If only he had taken the extra bit of time to- wait a minute. That's it! Nicole! It was her security system that managed to suck Tails inside of the computer, so she must be trying to eliminate him. But once she saw that it was him, she'd help him find a way out. Nicole would be understanding, and forgive him for intruding the H.Q computer.

And he wouldn't have to wait long as suddenly the ground started to shake beneath him. The fox struggled to stay on his feet as suddenly, part of the ground took shape into two massive digital tentacles, surrounding the fox and preventing him from escaping. The fox was surprised, but stayed calm throughout the whole ordeal. He knew exactly who this was.

Suddenly, a shape began to materialise in front of him, several green squares began to grow into the height and shape of a body, before moulding themselves into the shape of a girl. A lynx to be exact. Soon the green body began to change its colour, the toga it wore changed into a dark purple colour, its hair turned black, and its fur became a dark brown colour. Its eyes began to glow green as it began to move on its own, right before speaking to Tails.

"It was foolish to try and hack this computer, now you shall suffer the-" the lynx girl stopped talking as she looked at Tails and immediately recognised him "-Tails!?"

"Hey Nicole" said Tails, rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment.

"Oh my" said Nicole, quickly making the tentacles slither back into the ground as she stared at the fox, a look of confusion on her face "Tails, I'm so sorry for bringing you in here and capturing you. I thought you might've been a lowly Eggman virus trying to hack the main computer. What on Mobius were you doing out there!?"

"Heh, long story," said Tails. "Um… you wouldn't know a place where we can sit down and talk about it."

"No need, we can sit right here" said Nicole, giving her hand a little wave. A bare of bright green blobs emerged from the ground and moulded themselves into two comfy armchairs for the two of them to sit down. Tails stared at them in amazement as Nicole couldn't help but give a sweet smile at how intrigued the fox was by her control over this world.

"Wow! Those are some cool powers you've got there Nicole" said Tails, sitting down in the armchair she made and sinking into the comfortable cushion that padded it "How do you do it?"

"I am the most powerful A.I to have been created so far" said Nicole, as she too took a seat across from him "I can manipulate almost everything in here."

"Almost everything?" said Tails, looking at her with confusion "What do you mean?"

"You see Tails, we aren't just inside of the Freedom H.Q main computer, we are currently in the realms of the internet" said Nicole.

"Wait… what!" said Tails, his jaw hanging from his face "So we're in the entire web?"

"Yes" said Nicole "You have to be careful here though. There's a lot of internet trolls, virus's and…"

Nicole was interrupted as a sudden screen popped up between them facing Tails. It was an add for a shaving product that claimed to have a quick and easy way of buying it for free. Just looking at it once told Tails it was a scam. He wasn't looking at it for long as it soon dissolved into a bunch of green squares that soon faded out of existence and left Nicole sitting there with an annoyed look on her face while having her arm outstretched, hinting that she had just taken care of the sudden issue.

"And pop-up ads sent by people online to scam you out of your rings" finished Nicole.

"Wow… how often do you deal with those in here?" asked Tails.

"It's a daily routine at this point" said Nicole "Thankfully, all the viruses and malware roaming this place are child's play compared to all the stuff that Doctor Eggman has thrown at us. So as long as you're with me, you should be safe here."

"I certainly feel a lot better being stuck here knowing that you're here to keep me safe," said Tails. "I don't think I'd last two seconds here on my own."

"No" agreed Nicole "You would need the time to take in your surroundings and know how to take care of certain viruses. But, back onto what I wanted to talk about Tails. What were you doing on the main computer?"

"Oh right!" said Tails, remembering that his experiment had technically failed and he would have to explain himself to Nicole "Well, as you are aware, you can generate yourself into the real world as a solid lifeform, like you were an actual Mobian like me."

Nicole nodded and crossed her legs over each other, gently putting her hands in her lap as she listened to Tails's story.

"Well, you mentioned stuff about the real world being so different and beautiful than what you're used to" said Tails "So I thought you meant that you lived in your own world inside of your device, and any device you can connect to."

"Well, it seems as though you were right," said Nicole, giving Tails a soft smile.

"Yeah, but I also wanted to see for myself and see what it was like here" said Tails "As you detected with your security system, I had set up a device that would help me with this. But it wasn't supposed to suck me in here like what just happened. It was supposed to transfer my consciousness into the computer so it could take the form of another version of me and explore this place to see what it was like."

"I see" said Nicole, a hand on her chin "And what went wrong?"

"Well, nothing really, except that I didn't warn you" said Tails "I suppose when you thought I was an invading virus the machine reacted to your beliefs in some way and sent me inside so you could delete me or something. My experiment might've actually gone fine had I told you beforehand."

"Agreed" said Nicole, a look of apology on her face "I apologise for making your experiment fail Tails."

"Aw don't be sorry Nicole" said Tails "You were only doing what we would've wanted you to do. Protecting us from a potential threat. I'm the one who should be sorry."

"But it's because of me that you are here now," said Nicole, standing up from her seat.

"Yeah, but that was just a normal reaction" said Tails "My garage at home has a security system too. It probably would've captured Sonic, Sally or anyone else if they showed up without telling me they were coming."

Tails smiled as this little quip earned a little chuckle out of the cyber lynx. Nicole had never admitted this to anyone, not even Sally. But Tails had this way of always making her generate the emotion of laughter. She knew that as an A.I, she had a hard time generating feelings. But she had gotten better over time. Sally, Sonic and her friends had helped her learn to see and feel things as if she was a real person. But she showed special affection for Tails when he helped her learn the rules about the real world, because deep down in her newly made cyber heart, she had deep feelings for the two tailed fox. As she thought more about him, her laughter slowly silenced when she let her thoughts distract her, which made the fox frown a little.

"Uhhh, you okay Nicole?" asked Tails, waving a hand in front of her face, trying to bring her back down to Mobius.

"Oh! Yes! Sorry, I might've been a bit distracted in my own thoughts" said Nicole, giving an embarrassed smile.

"That's okay, I zone out a bit too sometimes," said Tails, standing up from his seat. Nicole watched the fox as he walked closer to her. She felt her feelings for him suddenly burn inside of her as he closed in and reached out to wrap his arms around her, hugging her. Nicole's face blushed bright red as she instinctively wrapped her arms around him and returned it, which made the fox smile.

"So… uhhh… is there a way out of here? Or am I stuck here?" Tails asked the lynx, a bead of sweat poured down his face as he hoped that her answer wouldn't be the latter.

"No" said Nicole "I can find a way out for you. It shouldn't be too difficult."

"Well what are we waiting for?" said Tails, smiling widely "Let's get outta here."

But Nicole didn't move, nor did she break her hug with Tails. As stated earlier, Nicole had feelings for the twin tailed fox. She had always wanted to admit her feelings to him, but never wanted to do it in front of other people, and Tails seemed to be around others all the time. Sonic, Sally, Rotor, his parents, just to name a few. But here? They were all alone and she had the perfect chance to tell him.

"Uhhh, Nicole?" said Tails, looking up at the cyber lynx weirdly "You can let go of me now."

Nicole blinked as she unwrapped her arms from Tails's body and locked her digital green eyes with Tails's ocean blue ones. Tails looked up at her with a weird look.

"Are you okay Nicole?" asked Tails "You're acting a little bit odd."

"Yes Tails" said Nicole, making up her mind "I can assure you that I am fine."

"Okay!" said Tails, his smile returning "Then show me the way out."

"Well… Tails" said Nicole "I could show you the way out right now. But… I'd much rather you stay here for a little longer."

"Huh? Why? Why do you want me to stay?" asked Tails.

"Well, you see Tails" said Nicole "In here, I feel safe to share my little secret with you. I've always wanted to share it with you without anyone else knowing. But whenever I meet up with you, you always seem to be with someone else, which ruins the moment."

"Why? What's wrong with sharing it with our friends?" asked Tails, giving Nicole a questioning look "I'm sure whatever it is, it won't change how they think of you."

"Tails, I've done the math in my head several times over, and I have no doubt in my sensors that our friends will not hold it against me" said Nicole "But I am not ready to share it with them."

"Well, okay, I can understand that" said Tails "But why do you want to share it with me of all people?"

"Because, my little secret revolves around you Tails" said Nicole "That's why I want to tell you. Tails… I think I love you."

Tails felt like the entire world around him suddenly slowed to a halt as Nicole spoke these words. He had no idea how to respond to that, nor did he know if she really meant those words.

"Um… I… Uh… I love you too Nicole?" said Tails, a slightly uncomfortable smile on his face "I think you are a great friend…"

Tails felt like he had planted a foot in his own mouth as those words left his lips. 'Shit, shit, SHIT! Why did I say that!?" thought Tails. That one word slammed into Nicole's heart with a force of a truck as she suddenly felt it break.

"Wait! Wait!" said Tails, seeing that a single digital tear was starting to grow in Nicole's eye "I didn't mean to say that! That came out completely wrong!"

"No… no, I understand Tails" said Nicole, her voice becoming a little shaky as she hung her head and closed her eyes, more tears starting to grow in them "I don't know why I thought a physical lifeform like yourself would ever be in love with an A.I like me."

Suddenly, Nicole's body began to dissolve and disappear into the digital ground below them. Tails heard a single cry of sadness before she completely vanished. His pupils shrunk as she ran away, or rather, teleported away.

"Wait! No! Come back!" cried Tails, looking around him, desperately trying to find any sign of Nicole anywhere. Out of sheer desperation, Tails began to ran forward, his head frantically looking around the computerised world for any sign of Nicole. He had no idea where he was going or even if he was running in the right direction to where she went. Hell! She might've materialised into the real world for all he knew.

"Smooth move Miles!" Tails growled at himself, addressing himself by his real name "Friend!? She just admitted her feelings to you and you just say she's a good friend!? Did you even think before you said that!?"

Tails felt close to breaking down into tears himself as he was stranded in the digital realms of the web, unable to escape, and with no friendly face like the cyber lynx who had confessed her love to him to help him get out. He finally fell to his knees and punched the ground he knelt on. He began to let the tears shed down his face.

"Nicole" he choked out "I didn't mean to say you were just a good friend. You're better than a good friend. You're better than a friend in general. You're sweet, kind, cool, and there's no one else in the world like you. And… I'm sorry for not taking you seriously. I may be a smart person, but I'm such a naive fool!"

Tails felt like he deserved to waste away alone in this world for hurting Nicole's feelings. After he had done so much to help Nicole fit in as her own person in the real world, he indirectly hurt her after she confessed to him. But just as Tails was about to curl up into a ball and cry to himself, the sound of a voice made him stop.

"T…Tails?" said the voice "Do you mean that?"

Tails opened his eyes, tears still streaming down his face. He looked up and saw the one person he wanted to see right now more than anything. There stood Nicole, she had reappeared, and like Tails, had a few tears in her eyes. But her eyes also shined with a hopeful glimmer in them.

The two of them kept their eyes locked together as Tails tried to take everything in. He had just broken down after confessing his true feelings to Nicole. He wasn't 100% sure if it was love just yet. But the more he thought about it, the more Nicole's confession meant to him. For a long time, Tails had struggled to find a good love life. He had several crushes on several girls. It had all started with a traitorous teammate, a red fox named Fiona. Then it went to a member of another team of Freedom Fighters from Downunda named Barby. Then his feelings went towards one of the most famous people in all of Knothole, Mina Mongoose. When it came down to these girls, he had either gotten over his feelings for them, or in Fiona's, they were awful people that he figured he shouldn't get involved with.

But now here was Nicole, who had not only confessed to him, but he had let out how he truly felt about her, and judging by her question, she had heard him talk about his true feelings. The more he looked at Nicole, he could see that she was a very pretty and beautiful girl. He could start to feel himself being attracted to her. After what felt like an eternity of thinking, Tails reached a hand up to his eyes and wiped the tears away from them. He stood up right in front of Nicole, and reached a hand up to wipe away her tears. There would be no more crying today.

"T…Tails?" said Nicole, who was immediately hushed by Tails.

"Don't say anything more" said Tails, leaning his head in closely, his hand on her lips slowly moving under her chin. Nicole felt her broken heart slowly beginning to repair itself as Tails pressed his forehead right up against her own, and then her eyes widened as Tails slowly pressed his lips up against her own and kissed her deeply.

Nicole felt her entire body buzz with joy as she felt Tails kiss her. She couldn't believe it, the one person she loved was standing right in front of her, stuck in a passionate lip lock. After all that worrying about him not feeling the same towards her, and then believing it before he told her how he really felt, here he was, kissing her with all the love and passion he could ever give. And she was kissing him back with all the love she had stored for him for so long. Soon, the two of them broke the kiss and stared into each other's eyes, which were now slightly lidded as they continued to share their love with their looks alone.

"Tails, I love you" said Nicole.

"I know" said Tails "And I love you too Nicole. It took me a bit of time to realise it. Especially after my previous three crushes, but, I truly do love you too."

"Mm, yes" said Nicole, her loving smile becoming a little bit fixed as Tails mentioned his previous crushes. Tails could not help but notice the slight hint of sourness in her voice.

"You weren't jealous of them when I had those silly little crushes did you?" said Tails, grinning widely at Nicole.

"What? No?" said Nicole, her tone becoming a little more playful.

The two of them exchanged looks and began to give a few cute laughs. Their happy sounds creating a merry melody as they refused to release each other from their tight embrace. As they calmed down from their laughter they went straight back into staring into each other's eyes lovingly.

"Tails" said Nicole "Even though you now know how I feel about you by sharing my secret. I'd prefer it if we didn't tell our friends for a while. Could you please keep our new relationship a secret until I feel good and ready to share it with our friends?"

"Of course I would Nicole" said Tails, his hug becoming a little tighter "Your my girlfriend now. And any secret you share with me will only be between us until you feel like we can share it."

Nicole felt her heart warm as Tails said the magic word that made her feel as happy as we could ever be. He had called her his girlfriend, and he meant it too. She couldn't help but begin kissing him again, which startled him as it came out of nowhere, but he was quick to respond and kiss him back. But as the kiss progressed, Tails noticed Nicole was starting to act a little strange.

What made Tails begin to feel just a tiny bit weirded out was that Nicole had parted her lips and was using her tongue to lick at his own lips. It was almost like she was begging him to let her in. Wanting to see what she was up to, Tails let his own lips part a tiny bit, and that was enough for Nicole's tongue to suddenly strike like a snake and suddenly start wrestling against his own, pinning it up against the back of his mouth. "Sorry, too far?" asked Nicole, looking worried that she had frightened Tails into changing his mind.

"Sex!? Woah, wait a minute" said Tails, backing up from Nicole "Don't you think that's going a little too fast? I mean, we just confessed our feelings to each other, and now you want to engage in intimate activities?"

"Yes, I know" said Nicole, digging her foot into the ground uncomfortably "But… I can't help myself Tails. Being so different to everyone else as an A.I… it makes me want to experience things lovers do. And… because we're alone in this world, I think we'd be safe doing it without anyone knowing."

"Are you sure you don't wanna, you know, wait?" asked Tails "I mean, I know I'm an adult, but I'm still young, and you have plenty of life in you. I think we have the time for that later down the line."

"I know…" said Nicole, a sad look starting to show on her face "I just… wanted to show you just how much I love you Tails. Is that too much to ask for at this moment in time?"

Tails let her words sink in for a minute. To be fair, he hadn't really said 'no', he was just asking her if she really wanted to experience sex at this very moment. If he wasn't saying know, did that mean he was wanting to do it to? And if that was the case, why was he delaying it by asking her these questions? To stall? What for? Plus, Nicole had said it herself, they were alone in this world, so no one would know. And those final words she had said: "I just wanted to show you just how much I love you." Wasn't that the meaning of a relationship? To show your partner how much you loved and cared about them?

"Tails?" said Nicole, wondering why the fox wasn't talking "Are you okay."

"Yeah" said Tails, looking back at the lynx "I'm fine… more than fine. In fact…"

Tails walked back up to Nicole, re-wrapped his arms around her and brought her back into the kiss. This time, he was the one to force his tongue to fight against Nicole's. Nicole gave a gasp as she was not expecting this, which gave the fox and easy victory.
