A/N - Just a cute simple short one-shot I thought about when watching the show. This is set in the episode "Big Time Single" I always wondered what made Kendall finally get over his heartbreak after the guys talked to him; what if someone closer like his sister Katie had taken to him to really help? Well, this is my take on it. Just short and sweet. Thanks, let me know what you think! Enjoy! :)
Also, Katie is smart for her age; we all know that, so I figured her having this kind of conversation with her older brother wouldn't be any different.

Katie Knight groaned as she stumbled into apartment 2J at Palmwoods after a long day of no money scheming. She had been down at the pool trying to rack some cash in from the suckers of the future famous that lived in the apartment building. It was one of her favorite pastimes, scheming money out of people, but of course, they mean the manager stopped her yet again. Her day could not have been worse, and she didn't think anyone else could be having a worse day than her. Of course, that was until she got into the apartment and saw her older brother Kendall Knight lying stomach down on their orange couch, moaning as if he was in pain, clearly upset.
Stopping in her tracks, she frowns as she takes in the changes of her brother. Typically Kendall was upbeat and fun, but he was just plain down in the dumps. He had heavy bags under his eyes as if he hadn't slept in a day or two, and he even looked a little thinner than usual from the lack of eating. Katie was starting to get worried. She had seen him like this yesterday too, in fact, she has seen him like this since his ex-girlfriend Jo left to film a movie for three years in New Zealand, but she thought he would be better by now, but clearly, she was very wrong.
Signing, Katie walks over to the couch; she was tired of seeing her brother sad like this; she wanted him to be happy again and to have her brother back.
"Big brother?" Katie questions with a raised brow as she shakes his shoulder slightly.
He groans in annoyance and tries to turn his back to her and says, "Leave me alone…."
Rolling her eyes, Katie says, "No! No, I won't leave you alone! Sure, Jo was special, and you can sit here and shut everyone out being all upset, but where will that get you hu? Nowhere that's where! Do you think Joe is in New Zealand right now crying over breaking up with you? No, she's doing what she loves doing, and knowing that you're supporting her, is helping her with her heart as well. You need to realize that she would want you to do what you love doing, and that's singing and dancing your little heart out. She wouldn't be happy if she found out you sat here for three days moping." Katie finishes as she sighs and sits on the couch next to him.
At first, there is silence as Kendall blinks at her in surprise, then he sighs and sits up. "You think so? You think she'd still want me to move on and go about life without her?" Kendall questions quietly, and he tries to pull himself together and not cry.
Katie is surprised that Kendall speaks to him. She says, "I'm positive; besides Big Brother, there's other fish in the sea. You're becoming a known name, and girls will be swarming all over you before you know it." Katie states with a grin, making Kendall smiles at the thought.
He thinks, "- But Jo - "
"- Jo will understand. Besides, if Jo loves you and it was meant to be, you'll cross paths again someday. Trust me. I've seen enough rom coms to know…." Katie finishes as she pats her brother's shoulder. "Until then, let us in. Mom, James, Carlos, Logan, and I are all here for you. You can always talk to us."
Kendall is smiling, and he says, "Thanks, baby sis, you helped me a lot. Also…." He eyes her thoughtfully. "...No more rom coms, you're too young for that."
"Yeah, and mom says I'm too young for the fox channel, but I still watch that." Katie retaliates, causing her and Kendall to laugh.
Kendall sighs, "I should go shower and find the guys, they tried to get me to do a bunch of stuff with them earlier, but I ignored them for it." Kendall finishes as he stands.
Katie grins; there was her big brother; she stands too and says. "Good, and remember now that your single, you have all kinds of time to do the wild, crazy antics you and the guys used to do. I miss the chaos sometimes, so go have fun." Katie finishes as she goes to walk away.
"Wait - "Kendall calls out, making her stop in her steps, she turns and looks at him, and he comes up and hugs her. He says, "Thank you for talking to me and for not letting me give up. It means a lot; I love you, baby sis." Kendall finishes with a smile.
"Your welcome big brother," Katie states as she hugs him back. "Now go shower; I saw your idiot friends all crying about something in the lobby. You might want to check on them…."
Katie walks away with that and smiles, knowing she was able to help her brother. Sure, the guys attempted to cheer their friend up, but no one can get through to a person like a sibling or a parent. Even if the guys saw one another as brothers, Katie knew Kendall would always need her, and she knew that she would always be there to help him, whether he liked it or not….
