(Garen - PoV)
"Kat, call Swain and ask him to do the paperwork so we can adopt Morgana."
Blinking, I look over at Lux, who appears completely nonchalant after her sudden demand.
We just got home from her last training session and accompanying sweet-filled after session.
I...adoption? Can you just...do that?
Especially with someone...significantly older than us?
"Isn't it a little quick to be thinking about adoption? Also, not normally how that process works." Kat replies, seemingly unphased.
She seems to be adapting well to Lux's quirks.
"Don't care. I've decided, she is mine now." Lux nods. "She made it pretty clear she wants a little sister, and I think she would make a great Big Sister, so it is perfect. And Brother gets two hot sisters to fuck so everyone wins."
What?
"I...I don't remember agreeing to this?"
Lux sighs before reaching up on tip-toe to pat me on the head.
"You will, you will," she says condescendingly.
...
I will.
Kat is watching us bemusedly. "And what am I getting out of this?"
Lux looks at her in exasperation.
"Hello? Mega hot goth angel girlfriend? That can cook for you too? Look me in the eye and tell me she is not up your alley."
Kat remains silent.
"And of course her becoming a Crownguard is another poke in the eye to Demacia. So like I said, everyone wins. Except Demacia. But fuck Demacia."
Kat rolls her eyes. "And when are we informing Morgana of this arrangement?"
"When it's ready. I want it to be a surprise. Like a birthday present." Lux replies.
Is that a good idea? And...can you adopt someone without telling them?
Kat sighs. "Whatever. I'll talk to Swain, if he approves we'll do it," she says as she leaves.
...Apparently so.
I turn to Lux, just in time for her to tackle hug me into the sofa.
I stroke her back as she giggles excitedly.
"Oh, I can't wait. It's gonna be great. I will finally have someone who can brush my hair!"
...
I'm sorry. I try but, some skills are beyond me.
Lux sits up on top of my chest and chatters for a bit, the two of us resting and enjoying ourselves for a time.
Kat eventually returns, confirming the big man's approval.
"He said he will have his people take care of most of it, and get the required paperwork to us soon. You sign it, take it to Morgana to sign, turn it in and it is done. New sister."
Sounds straightforward enough even for me. Also apparently she does at least have to agree to it, that is probably for the best. 'Surprise, you're adopted!' without consent sounds like it could end badly.
Kat sits and joins us in casual conversation, mostly poking fun at one or the other of us. Both of them make fun of me.
It is nice, just, spending time with family.
The doorbell rings, surprising us. We aren't expecting anyone.
Kat and I go to investigate, while Lux steals my spot, and pulls out a-Hey! Is that one of my cookies? That little sneak...
Kat checks the spyhole. "Annie?" she whispers in surprise.
The Champion Annie? What is she doing here? I don't think I've ever met her outside the field.
Kat opens the door, indeed revealing the child Champion.
"Hi!" she says happily, swaying back and forth, clutching her bear. "Can Luxanna come out and play?"
(Annie PoV)
Ugh, it is so boring being stuck in the big city. I can't let Tibbers out at all, not without people running and screaming anyway. I never should have taken the old bird man up on his offer to move here. And the League people I talk to sometimes are really weird, I don't like them.
The house is nice, sure. Way better than sleeping in the woods. The bed is awesome, and the food is good, and there are tons of nice toys and clothes and other things, but I wanted people to play with! I was tired of being all alone in the woods, now I am all alone in a big house...
I tried going to a park like he suggested, and there were lots of kids but they were all so...boring. No spark in them at all, no adventure. And mean old ladies like her looking after them, chasing them down whenever I tried to get them to go do something actually fun. No, the park didn't really go very well at all. I tried not to let it get to me, but...
I am on the couch, clutching Tibbers and totally not crying and no one can prove otherwise and considering leaving when I see the big announcement. I don't much care about Garen, but Luxanna looks sooo pretty with the shiny wings...
She's not that much older than me, and she has magic too, surely she would be fun to play with!
Cities, as it turns out, are big. Trying to find one person in them is not easy. I've looked all over but I simply cannot find her. I...really should ask for help but...it is hard. To trust all these adults. Almost every one of them reminds me of...of her. Why bother asking them for help if they are going to yell and scream at me about nothing? No, better to do it on my own.
...
It...isn't going very well. I could ask the old bird man I guess, but he is kind of scary even if he hasn't been mean. Also, I do really want to do this on my own. So I persevere! It's an adventure, right?
After seeing her on the projection...screen...thing again I have had enough. I don't want to adventure by myself anymore. I want an angel girl to play with! I also remembered someone who I can ask for help! So I call the nice Leblanc lady on my mirror and ask her for help finding Luxanna. Fortunately, she is as nice as ever and gives me great directions. Thank you, Miss Leblanc! Yes, I'll tell Katarina you said hi!
So here I am, in front of a big house that I vaguely remember from some sort of comic that Leblanc gave me. I don't know, I didn't really care for it.
I'm... nervous. What if they tell me to go away? What if Lux is kinda mean to Tibbers like Daisy was? But...ok. Have to try, right? I pull the cord for the doorbell.
Here we go!
