Elain woke up as if she'd been sleeping for almost two weeks. She checked the clock on the nightstand before jumping out of bed as fast as she could, almost tumbling with the blanket wrapped around her leg like some kind of living tendril.

She got onto her blue polo and some blue jeans. She slipped on her black boots, courtesy of Nesta on her birthday last year, and tied her hair into a neat bun while placing a white western bandana, which was supposed to be a handkerchief, on the crown of her head. She grabbed her keys and headed out in a hurry, not willing to be late and get a short salary, which was already low enough as if she was some kind of pathetic slave or something.

"Hello! Welcome to Blue Hawk's Diner. Name's Elain, what may I get you?" Elain asked a couple with her best forced smile of politeness. Not even half a day and it was already hell. A kid got into a tantrum, spilling soda all over her apron and the checkered floor, teens making fun of her bandana and had to deal with someone who gave her a five quarter tip when it was a dollar minimum. She now felt sick of everything. Once she'd written down the orders, she hung it up so that the cook could see it while she pulled two carton cups.

"You think they're leaving or stopping by here?" She overheard the conversation between two of her workmates.

"I heard they were staying another night after getting drunk."

"Damn. Were they partying or something?" Elain shook her head and cleared her voice so that they caught her attention.

"There's a few tables still waiting to get their orders, can you please go and take notes while I deliver these drinks?" She said, not a lie but it was enough to make them return to their work with a nod. Elain glanced outside, noticing the familiar red hair accompanied with two other guys and noticed two empty motorbikes. She resumed to deliver the drinks while she took note of the next table, where a blonde woman and a tall broad man, hair tied in a man bun, were sitting across from each other. "Hello! Welcome to Blue Hawk's Diner. Name's Elain, what may I get you?" She asked them, ready to take notes.

"Yeah, I'll have a burger with fries and a large coke." Said the man before glancing at the blond woman. "Anything from you?"

"Hmm, maybe some chicken legs- No, I'll have a chicken sandwich with mozzarella cheese.

"Anything to drink?" Elain asked while she wrote it down.

"Do you have wine?" The blonde woman asked as the man in front of her choked on a laugh.

"You and your wine, Mor." He said with a chuckle.

"Uh- We have cranberry juice, it's close to that?" Elain grimace at the suggestion but she saw her thinking before nodding.

"Good enough." She gave her a smile and Elain held a sigh as she wrote it down.

"Alright! I'll be back with your orders shortly-" She was cut off when a familiar guy rushed in with a wild expression on his face. "Good God, not again." She growled under her breath, surprising the two people in front of her. Why did Graysen have to show his ass today?

"Boyfriend?" Asked the broad guy as Elain sucked in a breath.

"Ex-Fiancée." She clarified as the blonde woman winced at her response. "He's not happy."

"There you are! Been looking for you!" Graysen stormed to her and Elain made a few steps away from here. "I need an explanation!"

"I already told you on the phone my reasons. I'm not going to repeat myself." Elain said while grabbing plates from an empty table. "Besides, you're the one who refuses to even leave this town."

"So you're saying that this town sickens you!?" Graysen raised his voice, making all the clients glance at them. Elain was about to lose it.

"It sickens me that I can't even enjoy my life being chained up in a house without even traveling. I'm more than a fucking house wife." She noticed her workmates gawk at her. She was usually so nice, and now they heard her swear.

"I already told you that traveling is expensive-"

"Don't bullshit me!" Elain snapped, winning a surprised gasp from two couples. On the other hand, the two people who she was taking notes to earlier were enjoying the drama. "I'm not some trophy!"

"You gonna be like your sisters then!?" Graysen said and something about it made some kind of chain to snap, breaking her leash. She turned around as the music from the dinner started to play a female version of one of Steppenwolf's songs.

"This will be good.." Said the blonde woman to her companion as they both smirked but Elain didn't bother that fact because they were right. She was seeing red, her blood boiling as she clenche the half full cup with soda. Just as the electric guitars resonated on the diner's speakers she threw the drink to his face with such force it almost made him tamble to the floor.

"What the fuck, Elain!!??" Graysen coughed but she wasn't done, she grabbed a mop near the counter and shoved the filthy edge to him. For some reason, she felt Nesta next to her and she felt glad. Very glad as she yelled at him.

"I don't give a shit if you compare me with them!" She nudged him with every sentence, the song on the speakers becoming more intense. "I'm allowed to have a free spirit just like them! So either fuck off this diner and deal with it or I'll call in the fucking cops!" She now felt Feyre next to her, knowing she would be grinning and glad to do the same thing. She felt her two sisters and yet they were nowhere to be seen. God, she wished they were here right now to see the look on Graysen's face. "Now scram!" She finally said, giving him one last nudge, rough enough for him to move. He spitted the bit of the filthy taste of the mop out of his mouth and ran out of there. Just as the doors closed behind him, the song reached its end. She was no longer seeing red or feeling the urge to threaten as she heard cheering from the table next to her

"That's pure spirit right there ya'll!" Said the man bun guy as he whooped.

The blonde female clapped rapidly with a wide devious smile. "That's right! Nobody can tell her what to do with her life!" Elain almost smiled at this if it wasn't for..

"ARCHERON!" Said the cook, who happened to be her boss. "My office, now!" He said while leaving the kitchen. Elain, including the two people on the table next to her, shot their eyes wide open and winced. Uh oh.

"... I'm so fired." She said with almost a squeaky voice.

Indeed. She was fired right away after her stunt with Graysen and was forced to hand over her apron and badge. She didn't know if to feel stressed or relieved as she was back at her apartment. She swore that the event would be all over the internet, to her utter embarrassment, as she plopped herself on the bed while glancing around. She took in every detail of her apartment, the old yellow paint, the unremovable stain on the carpet, the kitchenette, she took in every detail until her eyes locked with the only picture frame on the coffee table of her and her sisters, taking a selfie from where they visited the Colorado Canyon for Feyre's birthday. They would go there every year at night to celebrate, now it seemed like a distant memory.

Then something hit Elain as she quickly stood up and rushed to her room. She opened a small chest where her black backpack was tucked in, decorated with flower pins, country pins, chibi animal pins, which were mostly foxes. She yanked it from the chest and threw it to the bed. She then went to her window to see if the group of bikers were still there, thankfully they were talking to the same man and woman from the diner.

Elain rushed to her closet, taking enough clothes, including sleeping wear, for at least a week long travel and can be reused. She took her essentials too: Toothbrush, deodorant, sunblock, hairbrush, water bottle, tampons in case of a leak. She even took the photograph of her sisters and stuffed it in. Yep, pretty much everything. She took off her polo and threw it to the trash and put on a gray raglan shirt with black sleeves and a compass imprinted on the front. She rubbed her hands on the sides of her jeans and took her backpack, phone on one of the pockets as she rushed out of her apartment.

Once she returned the keys to the owner and affirmed she didn't leave anything behind, she rushed to the group of bikers, trotting to catch up before they could even start their engines. "Wait! Wait wait wait wait wait!" She ran in front of the one with red hair to whom she bumped with last night, both of her arms extended on each side. The blonde woman cheered.

"Ayo, it's the diner girl!" She said with a devious but joyful tone.

"You mind if I catch a ride with you gentlemen?" Elain asked them. The red headed guy turned to her and removed his lenses, revealing a mighty scar over his eyes with a golden eye. She wondered if it was an accident from his motorbike but kept the question to herself.

"May we know where you're heading, Lady?" He asked before clearing his voice. "Just so we don't drop you off the wrong stop." He clarified. Elain took a deep breath. She wasn't sure but was willing to get out of this stupid town, just like her sisters did. Away from her ex.

"Anywhere!" She blurted, yelled to her surprise and realized she also startled him and his band mates. "Anywhere." She repeated more normally. "Away from this town."

Elain saw the guy in front of her rub his chin before glancing at one of his companions, oddly handsome. Kind of think of it, all of them are handsome, but he stood out more. He gave a nod and the red head turned to her with a small nod and a friendly grin. "Seems like you're in. Welcome to the Pirates of the Night Court."

Elain huffed a breath and bent down, realizing she'd been running. She straightened herself and gave a joyful smile. "Thank you!" She said before clearing her voice. "Um, probably I should introduce myself.. My name is-"

"Elain Archeron, we know! You told us your first name at the diner." Said the broad man before the blonde woman grimaced.

"And your boss shouted your last name."

Elain winced and covered her face. "I'm scarred for life." She said before her hands were pulled down by someone, the red head.

"It's alright. Most of us went through that." He said and gave a wink, making her blush a little. "Anyways, My name's Lucien but the gang have the bad habit of permanently nicknaming me as Fox." He then pointed to the two who were at the diner. "This guy over here is Cassian."

"Aka Bloodshot!" Cassian smirked and hugged the blonde woman, almost making her fall. "This gal right here is Morrigan."

She pulled away and slapped his arm. "I prefer Mor for short."

"Goes by Gold Blade." Cassian chuckled and pointed to the guy next to him, resting on his cobalt blue motorcycle. He was about the same build as Cassian, but less broad. "This quiet bastard here is Azriel." Azriel gave her a nod before looking away. "Shadowsinger or Shadow Raider. You can call him any of the two."

"I see." Elain tilted her head.

Cassian then pointed to the guy in front of him, who's eyes seemed to go through her very soul. "And this is our fearless leader, Rhysand.. or Rhys. He's Mor's cousin."

"Pleasure to meet you." Rhys gave a nod with a smirk.

"Permanently nicknamed as Night King." Said a short woman with black bob hair as she walked past her, wearing a white leather jacket with designs that looked like she just murdered someone. She sat behind Mor.

"And the angry house cat is called Amren. Proudly nicknamed as Blood Ruby but we like to mess with her." Cassian snickered as Amren swatted him on his arm with a hiss.

"Call me an Angry House Cat again and I'll ruin your face and ego." She threatened.

"Grumpy House Cat then." Cassian smirked.

"Why I oughta-" She snarled but was interrupted.

"Do I need one?" Elain blurted as they all gave her a confused glance. "Do I need a nickname?" She fidgeted with her thumbs. Lucien softly chuckled.

"Not unless you want to." He said. She noticed Amren looking the other way as if she'd lost interest in killing Cassian.

"I better think about it then." Elain smiled, making Lucien's cheeks flush slightly but he grinned and pointed to the seat behind him.

"Hop on then." He said and Elain's expression lit up in joy. She rushed behind him, swinging her leg as she hoisted herself on the seat. Just as she sat, one by one, they started up their engines. "You may wanna hold on." Lucien said and she nodded, wrapping her arms around his center as she tried not to focus on the muscle under his shirt and his black denim jacket.

"On your mark, Rhysie!" Cassian said loudly over the roaring of the motorcycles. Rhysand turned to them with a nod and a smirk.

"Let's get to it then. Let's see where the road will take us next!" He said. And with that, they were off. Elain looked over her shoulder as the town she'd lived in for years was now further and further away from her, making her feel some kind of heavy weight being lifted from her chest. She smiled and turned her gaze forward, to the road ahead. It was now her turn to take the first step, just like her sisters did.
