Sayaka listened in fascination as Alpha told her about the Power Rangers adventures. It's a pity Koji-kun and Mazinger Z can't come here. I'm sure he'd be a great help against this Machine Empire she thought.
Just then the alarm went off. Everyone turned to look at the viewing globe. It showed a giant green robot with a head resembling a computer monitor rampaging through the city.
"Ai-yi-yi-yi-yi! Mean Screen is attacking Angel Grove!" Alpha cried.
"Mean Screen? I thought we took care of that creep," said Tanya.
"This is an upgraded version" Zordon explained. "Be careful Rangers. He is a formidable opponent."
"Leave it to us," said Tommy. "Okay Rangers, back to action!"
The Rangers teleported to their Zords and immediately formed the Zeo Megazord. Mean Screen looked over from the building he was smashing to see the mighty robot approaching him.
"Ah Rangers, I hope you're ready to meet the new and improved me" he said.
"We'll take you down just like we did before!" Rocky exclaimed.
"Guys remember, his weak point is his screen," said Adam. "We break that and he's powerless."
"Then let's get to it" Tommy agreed. "Zeo Megazord battle ready!"
The two robots closed and began grappling with each other. The Zeo Megazord broke the clinch and drove two punches into Mean Screen's face, but he didn't even flinch.
"Leave this to me," said Adam. "Zeo 4 Battle Helmet, activate."
A green helmet with gold horns appeared on the Megazord's head. It promptly landed a head-butt to the other robot's face. Once again, the blow had no effect.
Mean Screen laughed. "Surprised Rangers? King Mondo had my screen reinforced. Now it's my turn. Here, have a dose of my virus!"
He raised his arms. Black cables flew from his wrists and magnetically adhered to the Zeo Megazord.
"That won't work. Our Zords are protected against your virus," said Tanya.
He laughed again. "What part of new and improved don't you understand?"
The Zeo Megazord froze in place as its entire control panel went dark. Tommy frantically tried to operate the controls but nothing happened.
"Oh no, the controls aren't responding. We're locked out."
"That's right Rangers" Mean Screen gloated. "And now I'm going to siphon every last bit of data from your Zords memory banks until they're completely empty."
Pulses of blue light began to flow down the cables from the Zeo Megazord into Mean Screen. "Oh yes, this will be most useful to King Mondo" he said gleefully.
"Zordon we need help!" Tommy yelled.
In the Power Chamber Alpha and Billy were desperately trying to purge the virus from the Zeo Megazord's computers while Sayaka watched the viewing globe in dismay.
"Ai-yi-yi-yi-yi! This computer virus is even more sophisticated than the last time" Alpha cried. "We'll never be able to get rid of it before Mean Screen depletes the Zeo Zords computers entirely."
A determined look appeared on Sayaka's face. "I'm going to help them" she said firmly. "I'll keep it busy while you take care of the virus."
"Be careful Yumi-san and may the Power protect you" said Zordon.
"Thank you."
The white light filled her vision again as she was teleported into Venus A's cockpit. Within seconds she was in the air and soaring towards Angel Grove. Up ahead she saw Mean Screen eagerly draining the Zeo Megazord's computers.
"Z Cutter!"
Venus A launched its arm blades. They spun through the air and sliced through the cables that connected the two robots. Instantly the flow of blue pulses ceased.
Mean Screen snarled as he turned to face the newcomer. "I don't know who you are but you're going to pay for that."
Venus A touched down on the ground and Mean Screen charged forwards, arm blades extended. He attacked with a volley of slashes but Venus A deflected each one with its own blades. Realising that he needed a new approach he stepped back and fired blue energy bolts from his antennae. Venus A was blasted off its feet and crashed down hard.
Mean Screen sprang forwards and drove one of his blades in a downwards stab but Sayaka activated her robot's thrusters and it flew backwards along the ground. Mean Screen's blade stabbed into the concrete. He wrenched it loose and looked up to see that Venus A was now hovering in mid-air.
"First I'll delete you and then I'll delete the Rangers" he growled. With that he fired his energy bolts again. This time however Sayaka was ready.
"Photon Beam!"
Pink energy beams flew from Venus A's own antennae and collided head-on with Mean Screen's blue bolts. A loud crackling filled the air, as did the smell of ozone. The dueling energy streams pushed back and forth against each other. For a moment they were evenly matched but steadily Mean Screen began to get the upper hand.
Venus A's power is being split between the thrusters and the Photon Beams Sayaka realised. But if I time this right, I should be able to catch him off-guard.
She cut the power to the thrusters and Venus A dropped straight down, the blue bolts flying past its head. It landed on the ground and before Mean Screen could react Sayaka fired again. The Photon Beams hit him directly in his face screen, melting a hole in it.
"My screen! My wonderful screen! Ruined again!" he screeched.
Aboard the Zeo Megazord the Rangers were struggling to regain control. Just then the consoles lit up again.
"All right! All systems fully operational," said Tommy. "Zeo Megazord Sabre, Power Up!"
The Zeo Megazord raised its weapon. The blade glowed a bright orange and it slashed downwards. Mean Screen collapsed and exploded in a ball of flame.
"Wow, I wish Koji-kun and Mazinger Z had a sword like that" Sayaka said eagerly.
The Rangers and Sayaka teleported back to the Power Chamber where Zordon, Billy and Alpha congratulated them on their victory.
"Great work Yumi-san," said Billy. "You bought us the time we needed to eliminate the computer virus."
"Indeed. We owe you much. The Rangers could not have defeated Mean Sceen without your help" Zordon agreed.
She smiled. "It's okay, I was glad to help" she replied.
"We've completed our analysis of the dimensional tear that brought you here," said Alpha. "By recalibrating our teleporters, we can send you home."
"Then I'd best be going. My family must be worrying about me." She bowed politely. "It was nice to meet you all. Thank you for everything."
"Thank you, Yumi-san."
Everyone said their goodbyes as Sayaka was teleported away.
In the Photon Power Labs Koji, Dr Yumi and the others were staring in horrified disbelief at the monitor where, until a few seconds ago Venus A had been displayed. After an agonisingly long moment Koji managed to speak.
"We have to find her. She, she can't have just…" His words trailed off and he seemed to slump as if a massive weight had been placed on him.
"Scan the area. All frequencies, all channels. Find her!" Dr Yumi ordered; his voice uncharacteristically aggressive.
All personnel moved to obey. A scientist noticed a reading. "Dr Yumi, we're detecting a massive surge of Photon Power. It…"
There was another blinding flash from the monitors, again forcing everyone to shield their eyes and look away. This time however when their eyes cleared the sight that greeted them was most welcome. The familiar form of Venus A was flying through the skies towards the lab, looking completely intact save for some minor battle damage. Dr Yumi immediately opened the com channel.
"Sayaka, are you all right?" he asked anxiously.
"I'm fine father" she said.
Everyone sighed deeply in relief. Roll, Lori and Shiro all had tears in their eyes. Koji stood up straighter with a broad, overjoyed smile on his face.
"Something very strange just happened. It's quite a story" Sayaka added.
"You can tell us all about it later" said Dr Yumi, his own eyes shining with unshed tears. "For now, just come home Sayaka."
"Yes father. Venus A heading for home now."
Welcome back Sayaka Koji thought. Later he'd want to know exactly what had happened, but for now it was enough to know that Sayaka was all right.
Sayaka returned a few moments later to be greeted with many relived hugs from her friends and family. Afterwards she told them all about her experience in the other dimension. She was a little surprised to learn that only a few seconds had passed back home.
"Most fascinating," said her father. "After Dr Hell has been defeated this is something that will have to be researched further. Imagine it; an entire new frontier for humanity to explore. So many possibilities…"
"Yes, that sounds great" Koji said dismissively. "I'd like to see that Megazord thing. It sounds like it could give Mazinger Z a challenge."
"Maybe you will get to meet them Koji-kun" Sayaka said. "Like father says, there are so many possibilities."
He grinned as he imagined how Mazinger Z would fare against the Zeo Megazord. He hoped he'd get to find out someday.
