A/N: So I love the Batman! I've seen it three times already, and I'll probably see it three more! It may just be my favorite Batman film. Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz are amazing as the Bat and the Cat, and their chemistry blew me away. I've read so many good fanfics that I wanted to write my own. Needless to say, this will contain MAJOR spoilers, so fair warning.
"Are you asking me to stay?"
Her words are soft, quiet as a whisper. She is so close to him, too close. He feels her breath on his exposed jaw, sees the resolve in her dark brown eyes. She may have said she was going to Bludhaven, but she would stay if he asked her too. She was so close he could kiss her. He wanted to. He wanted to kiss her more in that moment than he'd ever wanted anything in his life. His mind flashed back to the two previous kisses they'd shared, each one feeling like fire was coursing through his veins. For the first time in years, he'd felt the desire for something besides vengeance. He'd felt passion, lust, and maybe even…love. Was it love? Could he even think the word in the privacy of his own mind? Did he even have the right, especially here? Here in this city where she had lost so much? Where her father had murdered her mother?
He wanted to grab her, to kiss her, to beg her to stay. He wanted to tell her he loved her, that she was everything to him. But he couldn't. The signal in the sky flashed above them, and the moment was broken.
"You're already spoken for." She said softly, moving away from him. Seeing her walk away was like a dagger in his chest, worse than the pain from the bullets he'd taken the previous evening.
"Silena."
His voice spoke before he could stop himself, and she turned back to him, one leg swung over her motorcycle.
"Please."
His voice was barely above a whisper, rougher than usual. He felt like he was choking on nails, his head battling his heart.
"Please what hon?" She asked, making no move to get off the bike.
She loved him, her Vengeance. But she wouldn't beg. She'd asked him to come with her, and he'd refused. She would stay for him, but he would have to ask.
"Please...Stay. Stay with me."
"Okay. I-"
She was cut off as he grabbed her, pulled her close and kissed her hard on the mouth. In the sky above them, the signal flashed. A warning.
"Now come on Dick. Time for all momma's kittens to be in bed." Selina Wayne said, kissing her ten year old son on the forehead and walking out of his bedroom.
"He already downstairs Alfred?" She asked the older man standing in the hallway. He laughed and nodded his head.
"Which story did you tell him?" Bruce asked by way of greeting when she entered the cave.
"The one about the cat who almost got away." She said, going over and changing into her costume.
"He'll figure it out sooner or later."
"I'd hope so. He's our boy after all. But we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. For now, there's work to do. So what do you say vengeance? Want to get into some trouble?"
Ten minutes later, the two were racing across the Gotham rooftops, the signal flashing in the sky. After twelve years, it was still a warning. A warning of what was coming. The bat and the cat.
A/N: I hope you all enjoyed this one-shot. Let me know what you think.
