It was another beautiful day at the Tree of Life as the Sun flew high in the sky shining brightly over the tree of life and all its inhabitants, but he sun wasn't the only thing flying high this day.
Darting through the gentle breeze with amazing gracefulness was Anga, when she wasn't helping out the various animals that lived at the tree of life with the Night Pride or hang out with her friends in general Anga would sometimes stretch her wings with a nice flight through the skyways.
While she soared through the air with a joyful smile on her face Anga didn't notice Ono flying up next to her. Most of the time Anga flies alone but occasionally a bird or two joins her,she's grown to enjoy the company.
Ono looked at Anga with a little smile "Pleasant day for a flight."Ono said trying to start a conversation "Yep,nothing like the feeling of the gentle wind run through your feathers."Anga responded while continuing to look forward "You said it Anga."Ono laughed as he continued to fly beside Anga.
As they continued to soar through the air Ono noticed that Anga was slowly started to get more and more elevated until she was about 50 feet above him close to the clouds. Ono stared up at Anga with a little jealousy it's common knowledge that martial eagles like Anga are very high flyers it always both amazed and bothered Ono that he couldn't fly as high like that but Anga could but he understood that fate can be mean like that.
"Hey quit showing showing off Anga,we all know you like your head in the clouds!"Ono yelled up to Anga in a playful tone but Anga didn't quite hear him given she was way too high Anga looked down at him in confusion as all she heard was distant muffled chatter.
"What was that,i can't hear you?!"Anga shouted back Ono tilled his head in confusion as he couldn't hear what she said this his eyes widened in terror as he saw something dart out of the clouds above Anga.
"Anga above you!"Ono shouted with sheer panic at the top of his lungs Anga looked back at Ono in confusion as she couldn't hear what he said "What?!"She called out in confusion then while she was looking at Ono Anga felt something slam into her hard knocking the wind out of her.
Ono gasped in horror as he saw Anga and the mysterious figure fall out of the sky.
"Hapana!"Ono exclaimed as he flew down towards the falling Anga to capture her. "Hold on Anga i got you!"Ono desperately shouted to the Unconscious Anga getting further and further away from Ono and getting closer and closer to the ground at a frightening speed.
Ono was mere feet away from Anga until he saw something dash past him and towards Anga grabbing her and carrying her away Ono didn't see the figure because it was to fast but he was able to see a brief flash of color: Red.
Ono saw the figure carry Anga to the ground and gently set her down before landing next to her Ono flew down towards the birds and landed next to them where he saw the mysterious figure in it's full glory. The figure was a male Marshal Eagle who had Red and Silver colored feathers,with green eyes he looked about the same age as Anga.
The male Martial Eagle was standing over Anga with a panicked and worried Expression on his face as he looked over at Ono "I am so so sorry i didn't see her!"The bird exclaimed while looking at Anga who began to stir awake "Ow what hit me?" she asked shaking her head in pain.
"It was me I'm so sorry,are you ok miss?"the male Eagle asked with concern Anga immediately stood back up on her feet groaning a little "yeah I'm all right everything is..."
Anga turned to look at the male Martial Eagle but then her eyes widened in amazement after seeing how handsome he was "...Fine."Anga said in a slight sing songy voice confusing the bird and Ono glance over to her in equal confusion.
"Uh..Pardon?"he asked in confusion Anga shook her head while looking at the male eagle 9"Uh nothing,just a little dizzy."
"The male Bird nodded his head with tremendous guilt then bird noticed the Night Pride symbol on her wing and immediately gulped in nervousness.
"You're a member of the Night Pride?!"He asked "Yep."Anga said with proudness in her voice "i am too."Ono said showing him the night pride symbol on his wing. Now the Birds guilt was amplified to a hundred "Oh geez i almost kill a protector of the tree of life what is wrong with me?!"The Bird yelled making Anga and Ono flinch a little "I can't express enough about how sorry i am,i was diving into the clouds i didn't think there'd be anyone under them when i saw you i couldn't react in time,I'm so so sorry."The male said meekly looking at anga sadly.
Anga didn't take this mysterious bird slamming into her personally as she knew he had no ill intent behind it "Hey it's alright she's ok you're ok,No one got seriously hurt,and you did save her so I'd say that earns you some redemption points."Ono said happily making the male bird looked at them both with a smile.
"So what's your name,Handsome?"Anga asked then she gasped a little after realizing what she just said covering her beak with both her wings Ono looked at Anga in confusion causing Anga to turn to him and mouth the words "It just slipped out."
Seeing Anga's reaction made the male bird chuckle a little "My names Ruby." "oh like the Gemstone?"Ono asked curiously "Yeah i know it seems like a girls name and trust me I've been teased a lot for it but i try not to let that get to me,It's the name i was given and I'm keeping it."
"Yeah don't listen to what anyone says i think Ruby fits you perfectly,it's pretty like you."Anga said then she shut her eyes after realizing what she said "Darn it i did it again."Anga mumbled under her breath. Ruby chuckled at Anga finding her tripping over her own words funny "Heh you're a funny Bird...ummm?"Ruby droned a little after realizing he didn't know her name Anga knew what he wanted and cleared her throat "Oh right I'm Anga this is Ono."Anga said introducing herself and Ono who waved his wing.
"Nice to meet you both,say are you two new here i haven't seen either of you here before,matter of fact i haven't seen you guys on the Lion Guard team before?"Ruby asked curiously "Oh yes we're actually visitors from place called the Pridelands it's a little far from here apparently."Ono explained
"And we recently just joined the Night Guard,And we've been here for nearly a year."Anga stated.
"Interesting, so what brought you guys here?"Ruby asked.
"I came here to have my eyes healed you see before we came here me and Anga used to be part of a team that operated in the pride lands called the Lion Guard, it comprises of the bravest,Fastest,Strongest,and the Keenest of sight,which was my position until i injured my eyes."Ono explained a little glumly "Woah what happened?"Ruby asked in wonder "Volcano smoke,I was rescuing a friend."Ono said simply making Ruby wince a little.
"I replaced him as the Keenest of sight and he stayed on as the teams smart bird."Anga said looking at Ono with a little smile. "But after receiving treatment from Nirmala my Vision is back although it will never be as keen as it was before but i can still see I'd say that's still a win."Ono said looking at the bright side of this.
"It always helps to look at the bright side of things."Ruby said with a smile "Yep,so that's our story,what about you Ruby?"Anga asked "Yeah throughout the time we've been here we haven't seen you here before,we've seen other variety of birds but never another Martial Eagle."
"Me,my story isn't all that complex or interesting I was actually born in a land far from here as well i was blown here a couple of years ago during a terrible wind storm and i injured my right wing Queen Jenna found me, healed my wing and gave me a place to stay,growing up back home i was picked on because of my name and unfortunately the mockery continued even here luckily Surak put a stop to it ,i didn't have much friends here or there so i prefer to just be by myself,it's nice at times but i do get lonely and have the need for a friend or two."Ruby said rather glumly looking at Ono and Anga who looked at him with sympathy no one should be bullied for anything let alone a name and no one should be without friends.
"Well luckily there's always room in our circle of friends,we would happily introduced you to the old Lion Guard members i told you about."Ono said causing ruby to smile "I would be honored to get to know them sometime." Ruby said with a little smile before looking at Anga who stared at Ruby rather awkwardly.
"Well i guess since both of us are ok and not in need of any help i guess this is good bye for now,pleasure to meet you Anga." "yeah uh...you too."Anga said with a smile Then without further words Ruby flew off into the air with Ono and Anga watching him fly away.
Ono had a smile on his face as he watched Ruby disappear over the horizon he really liked ruby and thought he was a great bird.
"He was. really pleasant bird wouldn't you agree Anga...anga?"Ono asked looking over at Anga when she didn't respond to him and Ono saw Anga had a little daydream expression on her face which unnerved him. There was only one other time she had an expression like that on her face and that was when she was in the presence of Hadithi.
"Anga!"Ono called again nudging her with his wing snapping her out of her trance "Huh what?"Anga stammered looking at Ono who gave her a funny look.
"Are you sure you're ok,i think you might have a concussion."Ono said causing Anga to give him a blank stare "I do not have a concussion."
"Anga has a concussion?!"a familiar voice called out in confusion Anga and Ono looked to see Kion,Bunga,Fuli,Beshte and Makini all run to Ono and Anga with concern after hearing the word concussion "It's..its not.."Anga stammered Then Makini walked up to Anga and put her hand on Anga's head tenderly "Oh my gosh are you ok?"
Then Bunga put two fingers to her face "How many fingers am i holding up?"Bunga asked making Anga squirm away from them "I'm fine I'm fine i just had a little accident."Anga said like like it was no big deal.
"An accident,Hevi kabisa what happened?!"Kion asked "Anga had a scary collision with another Martial Eagle."Ono said "Woah woah woah hold on,Anga collided with another bird,what happened was she not watching where she was going?!"Bunga asked in confusion make Anga glare at him.
"Actually the other bird collided with her,no one was at fault the bird was diving through the clouds he didn't know Anga was there and they slammed into each other."Ono explained "Then what happened?"Beshte asked "The Martial Eagle saved me,and after he apologized multiple times me and Ono got to know him and vice versa."Anga stated.
The other Night Pride members nodded in total understanding they were relived to know that Anga was ok but they also found the knowledge that another Martial Eagle was living here in the Tree of Life to be quite interesting.
"So does this Martial Eagle have a name by any chance?"Fuli asked now curious to know more about this new Martial Eagle "Ruby."Anga said.
"Like the Gemstone?"Beshte asked for clarification Bunga looked at everyone in confusion "Isn't that a girl's name?"He asked "well yeah but It not unheard of for boys to have girls names and vise versa."Ono explained causing Bunga to look at him funny.
"What kind of parent would give their son a girls name?"he asked completely dumbfounded making Fuli roll her eyes at him.
"Well i think Ruby is a gorgeous name,in fact i think like his namesake Ruby is a very gorgeous martial Eagle,Right Anga?"Makini asked looking at Anga who just stood there frozen for a second her eyes darting left and right of course Anga thought Ruby was gorgeous but she couldn't let them know that otherwise she'll never hear the end of it. Anga put on a meh expression on her face as she spoke with an uninterested tone "eh he wasn't all that pretty,I've seen prettier birds than him."
Ono looked at her in confusion as to why she would lie about that "Well despite whether or not he's pretty I'd definitely like to meet this Ruby,i never seen a male Martial Eagle before." Kion said with a smile although anga's the only Martial Eagle he's met in his life.
"Me too."Beshte said as Fuli nodded "Yeah he sounds like a nice bird."Makini said happily "despite the fact he almost killed Anga."Bunga said causing Fuli and Kion to glare at him.
"Bunga zip it."Fuli said firmly.
"Ruby would be happy to meet all of you guys as well,the next time me or anga sees him we'll introduce you to him,Right Anga?"Ono asked anga looking at her "Yep."Anga simply said with smile.
"Well we're glad you're ok Anga,All right everyone let's go home."Kion said as everyone started to Walk in the direction they came Anga and Ono took to the skies and followed by air.
As they were flying silently Ono looked over at Anga who had a blank expression on her face and decided to ask her a question that was racing through his mind. "Uh hey Anga can i ask you a question?" Ono asked "Ok?"Anga responded
"Why did you lie?"Ono asked curiously Anga gave him a funny look as she didn't know what he was talking about "What did i lie about?"
"Ruby,I thought you said he was pretty?"Ono said making Anga look at him.
"Slip of the beak Ono."Anga said with a little smile.
Ono tilted his head in confusion "Really,because you said he was handsome too."Ono added making Anga's left eye twitch a little.
"Ono...stop talking."Anga said firmly while flying ahead of Ono who decided to put a pin on the conversation and just follow the team home.
