Yay a return to Miraculous! I don't think I'll have a story that'll ever top Live and In Person but I do have some unfinished stuff to finish. With the finale coming around the corner I'll have a few ideas pumping out: Lila bashing, Adrienette, and maybe even a time travel story (if anyone besides me is interested in that kind of thing). Let me know what you think! This is my new favorite pair so why not write it?
Please let me know what you think!
Zoe sat next to him, their feet kicked up on the coffee table. Her shoes, jacket, and backpack off to the side with a guitar in her lap. Sheet music scattered around them, along with what looked like wood work homework. Her fingers holding the guitar pick strumming slowly following along to the notes. She was humming along to the song slowly learning the melody.
"Alright, a famous American movie about a girl and a yellow brick road," said Zoé, raising her eyebrows as if giving him the answer.
"The Wizard of Oz," he said, simply giving her a soft smile. "You Americans call it soccer but it's properly called…"
"Football, easy," she said, tossing some popcorn in her mouth high, but missed landing on top of the book in his lap. "Okay won't try that again."
Luka just laughed along with her as he swept the popcorn into a nearby trash bin.
"You know we could try this in reverse, you can teach me about some French things. I've been working on learning the language since I was five but they don't explain what it's like living there in classes."
"Hmm, I'll have to make up my lesson plan," said Luka teasingly with a glint in his blue eyes. She giggled brushing away the rosy pink strand of hair from her face.
"Okay so here's a real question; why aren't some big named American singers, like Taylor Swift, just as famous in France?"
"Hmm complex answer but usually it's a translation thing, some of the lyrics don't translate well. We also like the sound of something more than the lyrics. At least that's what I think. You can talk about her with me if you like though," he said pausing and then a thoughtful look on his face. "My dad is pretty famous there isn't he? In the states I mean."
"Jagged Stone is famous everywhere. This is why you wanted me to teach you American things right? To help understand the stuff he says and be closer to him. Since he's from there and all."
"Yeah, it's funny I understood something he said but my mom and Juleka looked confused at first."
Zoe smiled at him glad to have helped. At first she wasn't sure what 'teach him about some American things' when he had asked but it turned out well. Plus she got guitar lessons in the exchange which might be useful for a part in a movie one day.
She strummed the guitar feeling the vibrations on her leg. Luka finished his school work before sliding the book back in his messenger bag. She noticed that he seemed a lot happier ever since he and Marinette made up a couple of months ago.
"So you wanna try playing a full song?"
"Something like Mary Had a Little Lamb, right?"
"I was thinking My Guitar is My Only Family."
Her eyes grew wide at the complicated Jagged Stone song and a squeak must have escaped her mouth. The look on her face must have been one of shock or something worse because Luka laughed softly while shaking his head no. Oh thank goodness because that seemed difficult!
Luka adjusted to sit right next to her and showed her how to place her fingers. His hand holding hers gently "helping" with the correct placement. Heat rushed to her face as his pale hand touched hers. It wasn't hard to tell that Zoé had developed a small crush on Luka during their "study sessions."
"Maybe Twinkle Twinkle Little Star," he said brushing up against her.
"That sounds easier."
Playing as well as she could the sound she made was an actual song. She was tempted to sing along but kept quiet seeing a serene look on Luka's face.
"You're doing great Zoé," he said, laughing leaning in closer to her. "Maybe you'll be playing with Kitty Section one day."
She giggled and gently pushed against his shoulder. "I'll stick to acting or maybe even producing."
"Producing? You don't want to act?"
She shrugged her shoulders when he said that. "I was at the Paris Career Expo and looked into it. I figured I should have a back-up plan since they said it can be difficult to get into the acting industry. Maybe I can get my step-dad's production company up and running again. I checked out your school's booth, by the way, you guys are so talented."
"Thanks I love doing it," he said, grabbing another guitar and resting it on his lap. "My dad even asked me to make him a custom guitar."
"That's amazing Luka," she said, "I'd hug you but..."
Zoe gestures to the guitar in her lap.
"Can I claim that hug at any time?"
"But of course."
Silence enveloped them as Luka tuned the guitar. Zoe turned to watch the water lap around the Liberty gently rocking the boat. It must be fun to live on a boat. Shyly she glanced over at Luka who seemed to be staring back at her as blue met blue. She bit her bottom lip as he reached out and brushed some hair away from her face.
"May I kiss you?" he asked as Zoe's heart beat wildly in her chest.
Wordlessly she nodded, feeling his breath against her cheek and then soft lips on hers. Eagerly she kissed him back, her arms wrapped around his shoulders. Eyes closed she could feel his body press against hers. Maybe not a kiss more like a make-out session until they heard the beep from his phone.
Ignoring it, Zoé slid the guitar off to the side.
"Oh boy," said Luka, pulling apart after a couple of minutes. "My shift starts soon, so, the same time and same place Tuesday?"
"Definitely," she said. "Um, hey Luka, would you ever want to catch a movie sometime? I mean just the two of us."
"And maybe lunch afterward? Like a date?"
His voice sounded hopeful. Hopeful. She was going to go on a real date with him.
"Yea that sounds perfect exactly like a date, say around Saturday? At 1?"
"Ok, Saturday at 1, I'll walk out with you."
Laughing she nodded, cleaning up their mess as she put the leather jacket back on pressing her finger to her lips. Something told her that was going to be a great date.
