"One by friend, one by foe, and one by family." Those words haunt the two Mikaelson brothers, each one conflicted about who to trust while trying to make sense of a prophecy that contains a multitude of possibilities. So each one takes it one step at a time as if they were playing a game of chess thinking over their next move. Klaus follows the path of seeking more information from the seer, who gave them glimpses of the dangers they face. As for Elijah, he had to brace himself to make an appearance amongst a group of vampires he not only founded but also abandoned once the levels of toxic minds became overbearing.
The music was soft, but there was a strength within it that spread across the room. With Haley by his side, he walked into the hall with his head held high and a slight cockiness knowing his status amongst them. The last thing he needed is a set of eyes finding any hint of weakness, especially during a time when trust was scarce and everyone had to be looked at as an enemy.
Elijah did his best to soak in every detail he could so he can determine his next move, but when Tristan graced the dancefloor with Haley he became a little distracted. He loved her and because of that, there will always be that desire to protect her even those she is fully able to take care of herself, forever being on his guard to ensure her safety.
Suddenly his gaze shifted slightly to a woman who had placed herself in his eyesight. Her long bronze brown hair fell over her shoulders wearing a long black dress that drifted its color into a deep blue, she stood upright with confidence and strength. No one would doubt her presence here she fit in amongst the Strix in many ways, except her eyes, her eyes had a warmth to them instead of the cold, calculated look everyone else in the room had.
Elijah could deal with many of the night's events; Marcel's initiation, Haley's dance with Tristan, his conflicts with his brother, even the daunting prophecy, but no this, not her. Her very presence here put him on edge, it took everything in him not to dash across the room and order her away. He took a step in an attempt to do exactly that, but her eyes met his. At first, there was a challenge in her eyes as if to dare him to try a small cockiness spread across her lips knowing he would never actually accept it. He valued her more than anyone knew and giving her orders and taking away her free will to choose her path is something he would never do, however, there would be a fight when they found a spare moment without the company of wandering eyes. He will try to convince her to leave, but he knew that would not be a simple task.
Her eyes shifted from a challenge back to their original warmth, one with reinsurance that everything was going to be okay. She knew him just as much as he knew her, it was how despite having not said a single word to each other they were able to have full-length conversations with each other simply by looking at each other unbeknown to anyone else in the room. The moment, however, was cut short when Klaus, Lucian, and a few others bombarded the gala. Elijah scanned the room for her, but she has slipped away.
Her name was Seraphina Allen, his closest confidant, someone he loved in a way that was hard to explain, it wasn't a romantic type of love, by any means but it was something that went beyond a close friend. After she left it became clear that the only reason he found her at the night's event was to make her presence in New Orleans known to him. He was far from pleased with her coming here, especially when he had made her promise to stay away from where the name Mikaelson lingered for too long. He gave his word long ago that he would keep her safe and now she is in New Orleans where safe seemed like an illusion, but at the same time, he could help feel a small sense of relief at her surprise appearance. She was the one person he could wholeheartedly trust with all his trespasses and although he worried for her, maybe she could help him sort out the inner workings of his mind before making his next move.
