A/N: This is written for the Klaine Spring Fling Day 8 word "inaugurate." I just could not, for the life of me, come up with a way to use "inaugurate," or a form of it, in a way I loved. So, I am stating that "guinea" is the word of this chapter (because if you scramble up the letters of "inaugurate," "guinea" is in there, too), though I do use a form of "inaugurate" in this story. Also, I am not a guinea pig expert, and all information about guinea pigs in this story may be incorrect. I used to work at a pet store, and what is written here is based on what I remember learning about them at the time.

"Okay, kids! It's time for circle time. Gather around!" Ms. Fairy called to everyone. For maybe the first time ever in her career as a daycare teacher, she was probably more excited than the children were for circle time. She had a surprise for everyone, and she couldn't wait to tell them about it. She did have to wait a little bit, though.

Once everyone was settled in their spots on the circle time rug, Kurt and Blaine toward the back of the rug like they always were, she asked, "Alright. Today is… What day of the week is it? Who can tell me?"

In nearly perfect harmony, all the kids shouted, "Monday!"

"It is Monday. You're all so smart," she said, beaming at them. "Brittany, would you like to come up and put the 'Monday' card on our calendar?" After Brittany was finished and back in her seat, she said, "This time, we need to raise our hands. Who can tell me what the weather is like outside today? Who knows?"

Nearly every hand shot up in the air, and Ms. Fairy looked around the room, finally selecting one of her friends. "Sam, can you tell me what the weather is like today?"

"Is sunny!" he proclaimed.

"That's right. Very good. Can you come up and put the sunshine card on our calendar, right beside the word 'Monday'?"

Of course, Sam bounded to the front of the room from his spot beside Blaine to put up the sun card next to the word "Monday."

"Okay. I have one more question for all of you. Who can tell me what day yesterday was?"

Everyone shouted again together, "Sunday!"

"You're all so smart." She smiled at them. "Yesterday was Sunday, and it was a very important Sunday because I got a surprise for all of you. Do you think you can guess what I got for you?"

There was a ton of shouting then, kids calling out things like, "Cake! Balloons! Slime!"

Ms. Fairy grinned. "Those are all good guesses. I didn't get you any of those things, though. I think that, instead of telling you, I'm going to show you the surprise. Does that sound like a good idea?"

"Yeah!"

Quickly, Ms. Fairy walked over to the counter top, moved a few boxes out of the way, and picked up another very special box carefully, bringing it around to set it in front of her chair. The box had a lot of holes poked in it, and all the kids were so quiet that a scratching sound could be heard from inside. "Your surprise is in this box," she told the kids. "Do you have a new guess about what it could be?"

"A puppy! Kitties! Kang'woo!"

In a dramatic flair, Ms. Fairy bent down and opened the box, pulling out two adorable guinea pigs, one in each hand. "Those were all great guesses, my friends! I want you to meet our very first daycare pets—our inaugural pets. They're guinea pigs!"

The kids erupted into cheers and giggles, delighted to see the two little fuzzy creatures looking around with their dark eyes and twitching little noses.

"Does anyone know anything about guinea pigs?" Ms. Fairy asked.

At the back of the circle time rug, Kurt and Blaine had been watching their teacher with large, curious eyes. And as soon as she asked if anyone knew anything about guinea pigs, they both threw their hands in the air, along with a few others.

"Finn," Ms. Fairy called. "What can you tell us?"

"Dinny pigs eat yettuce," Finn informed her.

"True. Good job. What about you, Santana?"

"My mommy sayed they're smelly!"

"They can be smelly if you don't keep their cage clean," Ms. Fairy agreed. "Rachel?"

"My cousin hased five jenny pigs." She proudly held up her hand with her fingers spread wide.

"That's very cool. We have two. Blaine, what can you tell us about guinea pigs?"

"My Coop sayed dat dose piggies on'y yikes yivvin' wif boys. No' girls. Um, boy ones an' boy ones yiv togevver. An', um, I fink 'm yike a winnie pig acuz I on'y wanna yivs wif my Kurt."

Kurt looked over at Blaine and beamed. "I on'y wanna wiv wif you, too, my Bwainers," Kurt informed him.

"Well, that's very sweet of you, Blaine," Ms. Fairy said with a smile. "And also true. Boy guinea pigs prefer to live with boy guinea pigs, and girl guinea pigs prefer to live with girl guinea pigs. Sometimes, unless they're siblings, boy and girl guinea pigs can get into fights. Kurt, what can you tell us about them?"

"Weww, I never ho'ded one, bu' dey wook vewwy soft an' fwuffy yike my Bwainers hair." Now that he was able to put his arm down, he leaned over and ran his fingers through Blaine's hair, smiling when Blaine closed his eyes to enjoy his touch. "Hims wike it when I touch his hair," he told Ms. Fairy.

"They are very soft and fluffy. You're right," Ms. Fairy agreed, calling on another of her friends to tell their fact as Kurt removed his hand from Blaine's curls.

"My Kurt, why you stoppeded?" Blaine pouted.

"Wan' me keep pettin' you curls?" he asked him.

"Uh-huh. Makes me sweepy."

"Otay. You gottsa pwomise you won' fall s'eep 'til naptime, dough, Bwainers."

"I won'."

Except that was almost a lie because Blaine did nearly fall asleep against Kurt's shoulder during circle time. He very nearly missed the naming of the guinea pigs, too. If it hadn't been for Kurt nudging him and asking, "Wha' you wanna name does piggies, my Bwainers?" he would have missed everything for sure.

Finally, the class settled on naming one of them "Fluffy" and the other one "Peanut Butter," and everyone was sent off to play while Ms. Fairy got the cage ready. She'd promised that they were going to get to take pictures while holding the guinea pigs in a little while.

Blaine was ecstatic about taking pictures with them and even more thrilled when he and Kurt were allowed to go first. "Tan we bof ho'de one an' den switch?" Blaine asked, bouncing on his toes. "I wan' ho'de Fwuffy, an' den Pean' Budder. Dat 'tay, my Kurt?"

Kurt nodded. Truth be told, he wasn't really sure that he was very excited to hold the guinea pigs. They looked kinda like big mouses to him, and he didn't really like mouses. Blaine was so excited, though, that he didn't want to let him down, so he agreed, holding very still as Ms. Fairy set Peanut Butter in his hands. He held him very carefully, just breathing while he kept his eyes trained on the pig, not sure what it was going to do.

Blaine giggled when Fluffy was placed in his hands, holding the little pig up close to his face so he could whisper to it. "Hi, wittle piggy. You named Fwuffy. I wike you." He moved the guinea pig so it was against his chest and rubbed one finger over its head gently. "You wike you piggy, Kurt?"

"Uh-huh," Kurt answered, doing his best to warm up to the little furball. "Take a pic'hure now?"

Ms. Fairy snapped a couple before helping the boys exchange guinea pigs and taking a few more pictures. "You both look adorable, snuggling with your guinea pigs," she told them, glad that Blaine was so happy to be there. She was proud of Kurt for holding them, even though he was a little nervous, and she told him so as she took Fluffy from his hands.

"I wike piggies, my Kurt," Blaine announced after their turn was done and he had bounced away. "So' day, I gonna wiv on a farm wif you, an' we can has ou'side piggies an' inside piggies. An' I c'n pet 'em ev'y day and oink at 'em. I fink piggies is funny an' cute. You wike piggies?"

"Dere otay," Kurt told his friend, sitting down to color a picture of a guinea pig that Ms. Fairy had printed out for them. "I don' fink I yike ou'side piggies, dough. Dey smewwy."

"But dere cute!"

"If we has piggies, c'n we has a horse?" Kurt wanted to know.

"Of course, my Kurt! We c'n has aww da aminals! We c'n has bunnies an' wions an bears an moo-cows an' chimkens an' sheeps an' mo'keys an' alum-gators an' hip-sos an' tur-ples an' elum-funts an'...an'...an'..."

"Yike a zoo?" Kurt asked

"Wike a zoo."

The rest of the day passed in a whirlwind of excitement. Blaine had trouble falling asleep after lunch, so Kurt rubbed his head and combed through his curls until Blaine was out, snoring lightly, his head tucked against his little pillow. That afternoon, after nap and during snack, Ms. Fairy read them books about guinea pigs, which made everyone all the more excited about their new class pets.

That evening, when Pam and Gavin came to pick Blaine up, he bounded up to them from where he and Kurt had been coloring guinea pigs again. Their son was very excited, and he dragged them over to the cage. "Wook at wha' Ms. Fairy buyed us!"

"Woah. What are those?" Gavin asked.

"Deys piggies! Two boy ones, an dey wiv togevver acuz dey don' wike girls. Wike me an' my Kurt."

"Is that so?" Pam asked with a chuckle.

"Uh-huh!" Blaine continued to stare into the cage, fascinated by the little furry creatures.

"Are you ready to go home, sweetie?" Pam asked. "Cooper is waiting out in the car, and I'm sure he'd love to hear all about your piggies."

"Yeah! Wanna tells my Coop, Mommy! Bye-bye, piggies!" Blaine called cheerfully, skipping toward the door, hand in hand with his father.

"My Bwainers, you is no' gonna say 'bye' me?" Kurt asked, looking up from his coloring page.

"Ah!" Blaine shouted, ripping out of his father's grasp to sprint across the room to his best friend.

"Blaine, no running inside, please," Ms. Fairy called to him.

"Sowwy." He slowed to a jog, nearly knocking Kurt out of his chair as he tackled him at the last moment, squeezing him tightly and kissing his cheek. "I see you mowwow, my Kurt. Hased fun ho'din' piggies wif you."

"See you 'mowwow, my Bwainers," Kurt told him, kissing his cheek back.

Burt and Elizabeth walked in just in time to catch the kiss and Blaine sprinting back to his parents.

"What was that about?" Burt asked as he walked over to see what Kurt was coloring.

"Oh, is jus' Bwainers bein' 'cited bout piggies an' ownin' a zoo wif me."

"Oh, really…" Burt said, a huge grin on his face. "Sounds like an exciting future."

"Very 'citin'," Kurt agreed.
