Izuku awoke as the rain pattered on his face. He was still in the alley, covered with water and mud and… "blood?!" he asked, rubbing the spot on his forehead. "No, it's not mine…," said Izuku as he remembered the events that had led up to his unconsciousness.

He noticed that the bodies of the Angels were missing, leaving only him and Kyuuseishu. He crawled to the man's side with what energy he had left. He knew that he wasn't going to let the man's sacrifice be in vain. He grabbed The man's jacket by the front. "I promise, Kyuuseishu; I promise you I will become Number One and change the world for people like us."

"My daughter…" The man's last words echoed in Izuku's mind. "Take… my hat…" Izuku used his chin and dragged himself towards the man's dirtied hat. He placed the hat on his head, knowing that when someone discovered his unconscious body, they'd think it was his.

Sure enough, as soon as Izuku's consciousness faded once more, he heard his childhood friend emerge from around the corner with two police officers. "They're over here!"

"I can't seem to get a proper understanding of this boy's body composition. It's as though he's not made of flesh," said a man draped in a white outfit. Izuku was barely able to make out the man's outfit before he flipped out. He shot up in his bed.

He didn't even give the man a second look before sprinting as fast as he could from the room. Everywhere he turned, he was met with men and women in white. "Stay away from me!" he yelled.

"Son, you need to calm down!" exclaimed a female also clad in white. They managed to corner the boy, placing his back against a massive window. "We need you to calm down, son. We just want to help you."

"Don't come near me!" he shouted, his breathing becoming fast and heavy. "I've seen what you guys really are!" He turned to face the window. He must've been at least 30 floors high. "Tsk! It's worth a shot." He shattered the window with one punch.

"WAIT!" shouted the female, she was too late; the boy had leaped from the window.

Izuku approached the ground faster than he knew possible. "I've got to time this right!" He tried to stay awake through the stressful situation, inhaling vigorously. "Gomu Gomu no…!" His lungs inflated more than humanly possible, stretching his torso and abdomen into a shape known for taking blunt impact well. "...Balloon!" he finished, slamming into the ground before bouncing. "It worked!" he shouted, letting the air out all at once, shrinking back down to normal size.

He noticed that a crowd had formed. "Oy," began one of the spectators. "Was that..."

"The Gomu Gomu no Mi," finished another. "It's a devil!" Izuku felt nothing but hatred emit from the crowd. "Get it!"

Izuku ran from the crowd. He ran and ran before taking shelter in a dead-end alley. "I've gotta get out of here! I need somewhere I can go; somewhere I can hide." Suddenly, he stopped. "...No… I can't run, the Number One wouldn't run from the people he was supposed to protect." He dropped to his knees. "But what if he was supposed to protect them from himself." Izuku's world crashed down around him. He was the enemy of the people that he wished to protect. "What am I supposed to do?!" He grabbed the sides of his bandaged head in agony. "Do I kill-"

"What are you crying for?" asked a pissed-sounding voice, kicking the boy in the head, sending him flying backward.

Izuku recovered from the attack, ready to retaliate. He immediately stopped upon seeing the source of the voice. "K-Kyuseishu?!"

"You're right!" exclaimed the man, grabbing Izuku by the collar of his hospital gown. "You are their enemy!" He threw the boy back into the wall, raising his fist to attack him again. "So, fight back!"

"No!" shouted Izuku, punching the man in the face only to find his fist sink into the man. "I won't hurt them!"

"Why not?!" said Kyuuseishu, whipping the boy around and throwing him back onto the ground. "They would and will kill you without a second thought! You deserve to live don't you?!"

"They're not my enemy!" shouted Izuku. "We both deserve to live! Just because they don't see things the same way as I do doesn't mean that they don't deserve to live!"

"Exactly," said the calmer man, extending his hand down to Izuku. "They're not your enemy, so don't fear them as though they were. They're people who can come to their own decisions. They can change their mind." He pulled the boy closer. "You just need to give them a reason to." He smiled as he began to break apart into tiny particles, disappearing from the boy's sight. "Sayonara, Izuku 'D.' Midoriya."

The boy hung his head low, holding back tears as best he could. "Sayonara." He lifted his head with a renewed sense of determination. "I've got a promise to fulfill... And I can't do it in this state."

"What the hell do you mean he escaped?! Don't you extras have security?!" asked Katsumi, furious at the news that Izuku had escaped from the hospital. "You can't even keep a quirkless loser like him contained for more than two days?!"

The hospital receptionist panicked as she didn't know how to answer the girl.

10 months later…

"Ochako!" shouted Omoiyari Uraraka, laying out breakfast on her kitchen table. "You've got a big day today, so you need to make sure you eat a lot, okay?!"

"Yes, ma'am!" responded her daughter, emerging from her room dressed in a black tracksuit over a white tank top. "Wow!" she exclaimed as she entered the kitchen. "Breakfast looks amazing today!"

Her father, sitting at the head of the table feigned shock. "Ochako… Are you saying that your mother's cooking doesn't always look amazing?!"

"My heart!" exclaimed her mother, gripping her chest. "My own daughter hates my cooking. Ugh, you wound me, daughter!"

Ochako laughed at her parent's phony state of hurt. "Oh my goodness," she laughed. "I can't with you guys." The family enjoyed breakfast before Ochako saw that it was her time to leave. She had an exam to get to.

"Don't forget your pen, Ochako!" shouted her mother, tossing her a green and blue-ish pen. Ochako caught the pen and placed it in her pocket.

"Thank you, mom! I love you guys!" She waited to hear them say it back and closed the door. "It would've been bad if I forgot this," she said, placing her hand on her pocket.

"I'm finally here, brother," said Tenya Iida as he stood in front of the famous, most prestigious hero academy: U.A. High. "I can only hope to live up to your name, brother."

"Whoops!" shouted a feminine voice, bumping into the back of the boy. Caught off guard, Iida began to fall forward towards the ground. However, he soon felt something touch his back, halting his momentum.

"Huh? I'm going to die?"

"I'm so sorry!" exclaimed the girl, helping him back up.

Getting a foothold on the ground, he looked towards the shorter girl. "Ahem!" he coughed. "While I appreciate you saving me from possible injury, I suggest you wait until we are inside the building to use your quirk!" he exclaimed as his hands performed karate-chopping motions.

"This guy's intense!" she thought to herself. "My name's Ochako Uraraka! What's yours?" she asked, already excited to make new friends.

"Out of the way, extras!" barked another female, walking through the two's conversation.

"Don't you know it's rude to intrude on others' conversations?!" asked Iida.

"Huuuhhh?" asked the girl, glaring back towards the boy from over her shoulder. "Do you know who you're talking to?!"

"Nope!" he exclaimed, returning her stare; although his seemed to be less intimidating than hers. "My name is Tenya Iida! Pleased to meet you!"

"'Iida?'" asked the two girls in unison. The more aggressive one scoffed whilst Ochako looked at him in awe. "Like the Turbo Hero: Ingenium?!" asked the latter.

"The one and only!" exclaimed the boy. "Although, I was hoping to keep that a secret," he said, rubbing the back of his head.

"Whatever," said the ash-blonde girl. "It doesn't matter how many pros you're related to, got it? You'll never surpass me, Katsumi D. Bakugou!" She pointed towards herself, smiling her signature "I'm better than you" smile. "I'm the next Number One!" she exclaimed.

As the girl finished gloating, she thought that she saw a green-haired figure walk past. "Deku?!" she exclaimed, grabbing the boy. She instantly retracted her hand as she saw the boy had a massive elephant trunk in the middle of his face. "Tsk! Never mind, you extra!"

"Shoot!" exclaimed Ochako as she looked at her watch. "We're going to be late for the written exam!" she and Iida began fast walking towards the high school at a synchronized pace, huffing.

Katsumi began walking behind the two at her own pace. She looked back when she got to the top of the stairs in front of the entrance. "Where is that bastard?"

The three of them had passed their written exam and progressed through to the practical exam, standing outside of Ground Beta. A massive replica of Downtown Musutafu used by UA for hero training.

"Looks like we're all in the same arena!" exclaimed Ochako as she did a little happy dance. Iida looked indifferent, and Katsumi looked annoyed. Ochako sweatdropped. "Yay..."

"Sorry, Uraraka," began Iida. "Once we enter that arena, we're no longer acquaintances, we'll have to become strangers once more, competing for the same thing. And I don't plan on losing!"

"Whatever, Socrates," mocked Katsumi. "It's not like you'll be scoring much anyhow since I'm going to destroy every robot in there."

"You can't destroy every robot!" exclaimed Iida. "Don't you remember what Present Mic-sensei said about the zero pointers?!"

"Yeah, Yeah, if we destroy a zero pointer, we lose all of our points," said Katsumi. "Obviously I was speaking figuratively… and why are you calling him sensei?! He's not your teacher yet!"

"START!" shouted Present Mic's massive voice through the arena speakers. The doors to the arena began opening. Two figures darted into Ground Beta at once. "Ah! It seems two of you know that there are no countdowns in real fights! As for the rest of you… GET MOVING!" The rest of the examinees darted into their respective arenas (there were about seven in total).

Ochako, Iida, and Bakugou were all doing well. Ochako was using her quirks on the robots, sending them into the air before releasing the effect, sending them back into the ground with increased momentum.

Iida was sprinting through the arena, using his quirk, "Engine" to speed through massive groups of robots, kicking them all with his powerful legs.

"DIE!" As for Katsumi, she was having no trouble attaining the highest pointage in her arena, obliterating the robots with ease. "Is this all you bastards got?!"

"Bakugou!" shouted Iida. "You shouldn't use such language when on school property!"

A tick grew on the girl's forehead. "We don't go here yet, moron!"

That was when the ground began to rumble as a massive group of students emerged from around the corner, running towards them. They looked behind the group, seeing a massive robotic hand grab the roof of one of the buildings. 7 massive, red eyes glared through the dust and dirt mist that was created from the falling rubble.

As the fog lifted, the two of them watched as a massive green, block-like head came into view. The number zero on its forehead. "We don't stand a chance against that thing, Bakugou! We've gotta run."

"Yeah, right!" said Katsumi. The girl was shaking from her internal conflict. On one hand, she wanted to run and secure her first-place victory. On the other hand, she wanted to have the ability to say she conquered such a beast. She was frozen still, unable to move.

Iida was frozen still when he heard something that shook him to his core. "Ouch!" It was Ochako's voice! He looked towards the base of the robot and saw that she had become trapped under the rubble the robot had created.

The two of them stood there, unable to help the girl as Katsumi had been so caught up in her own conflict that she hadn't even noticed Ochako's predicament.

That was when it showed up. The silhouette of a boy had emerged from the rooftop of a building in front of the robot, landing on the street, charging the robot head-on. "Is he crazy?!" asked Iida. The boy had jumped high into the air, matching the robot in height. "H-he did that without even using a quirk?!"

Katsumi had broken out of her trance by Iida's comments, focusing on the boy with a straw hat hanging from around his neck. "Deku?!" There he was; the boy she, along with the rest of the world hadn't seen for months. "Where the hell has that bastard been?!" she yelled, blasting herself towards him.

However, what the boy did next shocked not only her but Iida and the rest of the onlookers as well.

Izuku glared at the center eye of the beast. "Gomu Gomu no…!" His arm was thrown backward about 20 meters (65 ft.), stretching and twisting around itself as though it were a massive, rubber spring. Then, he brought it forward, unstretching and untwisting it. "Rifle!" His fist slammed into the robot's center eye, causing it to cave in and fall backward. The unnatural movements the robot executed produced explosive results from its joints, causing more damage and destruction to itself.

Izuku began falling back to the earth, landing safely on the ground. He quickly ran towards the trapped girl and helped her in getting the rubble off and getting her back up to her feet. "Are you okay?" he asked.

She quickly hopped backward and grabbed the pen from her pocket. The former greenish-blue pen was now red and slightly vibrating. "Stay back, devil!" she exclaimed, her finger on the back of the pen, ready to click it at a moment's notice.

"A pen?" wondered Izuku. "Is she thinking about stabbing me?"

"Deku!" shouted a voice that terrified Izuku. "Where the hell have you been?! And what's with this 'Gomu Gomu' crap?!" Before he had time to turn around, he received a kick to the back, sending him forward and towards Ochako.

Panicking, the girl clicked the back of the pen.
