"Hey," Sam came to the Miyagi-Do dojo in the afternoon, finding that Robby was already there. She had left early that morning and when she got back to the house, she saw that Robby had left already; she knew there were only a few places he would have gone.

"Hey," Robby repeated.

"I came back to the house and saw you were gone," Sam said. "Figured you might be here."

"Just wanted to get some extra training in," Robby said as he continued hitting the training bag. He knew they needed all the help they could get if they were going to take on Cobra Kai again at some point.

"Want to take a break for a minute?" Sam held up a bag of In-and-Out. "I came with gifts."

"Don't have to tell me twice," Robby sat down next to Sam as she handed up a bag with a burger and fries. "Did you get the secret sauce?"

"What do you take me for?" Sam chuckled as she passed Robby some sauce.

"Did you leave early to make sure you got the first spot in line?" Robby asked as he took a bite.

Sam shook her head. "I was supposed to have a doctor's appointment, but they had to reschedule." Sam wasn't too happy about it. "I didn't know that until after I had been waiting for an hour."

"That sucks,"

Sam nodded in agreement. "Naturally, I was starving at that point."

"Nice of you to share,"

"I was actually going to eat all of this, but I didn't want to be rude by eating in front of you." Sam joked. Though she felt hungry enough, she easily could have eaten all of it. But she had planned on Robby being here.

"Well, aren't you nice?" Robby chuckled.

"I just wish I would have known about them canceling," Sam attempted to say in between bites. "I wouldn't have skipped breakfast."

"Were you running late?"

Sam shook her head. "It's better to not eat right before a blood panel,"

"Ah," Robby didn't know what else to say.

"So, did you come right here?" Sam decided to change the subject. "Didn't want to sleep in a bit?"

Robby shrugged. "Just thought I'd get a head start," He needed the training and most days, this was the only thing that could help clear his head. "Want to spar?"

"Sure, once I finish my food…" Sam chuckled in between a mouthful.

Eventually, they both finished their food, Sam and Robby went outside of the dojo and started to spar with each other. They did that until Daniel arrived for their lesson.

"Both of my students bright and early," Daniel commented as he took off his sweatshirt. "Oh Sam, your doctor called…"

"Is everything okay?" Robby asked, feeling concerned.

"Just rescheduling," Sam reminded him of their conversation from earlier. "The blood panel and my flu shot,"

"They called and I rescheduled for tomorrow morning," Daniel figured the sooner the better since school would be starting soon.

"Sounds great, dad!"

"Speaking of which," Daniel added. "I made you an appointment as well, Robby."

Robby arched an eyebrow. "What for?"

"Same thing," Daniel answered. "Same time as Sam,"

"Why?"

"Just to make sure everything's okay," Since Robby had started living with the LaRusso's that summer, they had been looking out for him and making sure he had everything he needed. This was just another one of those things. "They had an opening and since Sam was going to the same place…"

"You really didn't have to do that, Mr. LaRusso," Robby cut him off.

"It's not a problem," Daniel glanced from Sam and then back to Robby. "And it's best to just make sure everything is okay." It was just routine and both Sam and Anthony had this done before school would start back up. They had just enrolled Robby for this year, so it only made sense for them to make him an appointment as well. "A routine blood panel and flu shot won't take very long,"

Robby bit his lip and just nodded in response, unable to think of a reasonable argument.

"Alright," Daniel clapped his hands together. "Should we get started?"

Robby and Sam turned to each other to practice the techniques that Daniel laid out of them. They struggled as Robby found himself unable to focus as much as he had been able to earlier. Eventually, both Sam and Daniel took notice and decided to call it a day earlier than they planned.

"Great work today," Daniel said. "But what do you say we call it a day?"

"Sounds great," Sam said.

Robby only nodded in response.

"What do you two say about Chinese for dinner?" Daniel said as he followed the two teens out towards the car. "Hey," He placed his hand on Robby's shoulder as he went to grab his skateboard. "Are you feeling alright?"

"Yeah," Robby nodded. I guess they noticed. "Just feeling a little tired, is all."

"Okay," Daniel nodded. Neither he nor Sam completely bought that but decided to leave it for now. "If, you're sure."

Robby didn't say much that night. He barely touched his food at dinner and then went up to bed earlier than he normally would. He ended up not sleeping very well during the night. After a lot of tossing and turning, he decided to take a walk outside.

"A little early for a walk,"

Robby jumped in startle and took a breath. "Geez Sam…" He hadn't expecting anyone to be up at this hour. "What are you doing up? I didn't wake you, did I?"

Sam shook her head. "I was hungry," Sometimes she would wake up in the middle of the night and needed a snack. This was one of those nights. "Where are you going?"

"Couldn't sleep," Robby was honest about that part. "Just thought I could clear my head, or at least tire myself out."

"I'll come with you," Sam offered, going over to grab a jacket.

"You don't have to…." Robby sighed as Sam already had her jacket on. "You're not taking 'no' for an answer, are you?"

Sam shook her head. "Nope,"

Robby chuckled and didn't argue; he knew he wouldn't win. He waited until Sam got her shoes on and then they started to walk around the block.

"So, are you okay?" Sam asked after a few minutes of awkward silence.

"Yeah, fine," Robby nodded, not looking at her.

"Are you sure?" Sam didn't completely believe that. "You seemed a bit distracted in practice after dad told you about the appointment." Sam assumed it had something to do with that.

"Yeah, uh…" Robby sighed, trying to think of a believable excuse. "It's just weird having someone care, you know? It's been a long time since anyone's been looking out for me."

"Right," Sam could understand that. But she still had a feeling that it was more than that.

"So do you get them every year?"

"A blood panel?" Sam asked and then nodded.

"I've just never heard that," Robby sighed. "And isn't it a bit early for flu shots?" As far as he knew, most people didn't start getting those until October.

"It's just easier to do them at the same time,"

"Are they really necessary?"

"Robby," Sam stopped in her tracks and turned to him. "What's going on?"

"Nothing, I—"

"Sit," Sam sat down on the pavement and motioned for Robby to sit next to her. "Now, you've been acting weird all day and I'm starting to think it's about this appointment." Robby looked down at his feet, knowing he was caught. "You know, you can tell me…" Sam wanted to help. But she didn't know how.

"I kind of…" Robby hesitated. "I have a thing with needles." He couldn't meet Sam's eyes, feeling embarrassed. "I know, it's stupid…"

"Hey," Sam moved closer, taking Robby's hand in hers. "It's not stupid." She had figured it might be something like that; she could understand. "I used to be afraid of them too…" She got over it eventually. "Robby, it won't be that bad…"

Robby shook his head and pulled away, unable to see it that way.

Sam took his hand again and held it firmly. "It's going to be okay," Sam forced Robby to look at her. "I promise, I'll stay with you the whole time."

"You don't have to do that—"

"I want to," Sam wanted to help and that was something she could do.

The next morning, Sam drove herself and Robby over to the doctor's office. She noticed Robby's leg was bouncing once she parked the car. "Hey," Sam placed her hand on Robby's knee. "It's going to be okay,"

Robby nodded quickly, despite not believing her.

Sam took her hand away after a few moments. "We should go in,"

Robby followed Sam inside the office, and they sat only for a few moments before being brought back to a room.

"Nurse will be right in,"

"Maybe you should lay down," Sam said, noticing that Robby was pale. "I don't want you to pass out…"

"I still might," Robby laid down on the table. He remembered the last time he had to get blood taken and he had passed out. It hadn't helped that the nurse putting the needle in had a problem finding the vein.

"Just breathe, okay?"

"I don't think that actually helps…" Robby remarked as he tried taking some deep breaths. "Definitely not helping."

"It didn't help me either," Sam chuckled slightly. "I always got so mad when they'd tell me just to breathe and it would be over quick…"

"You really used to be afraid of them?" Robby asked, trying to make himself feel better about this.

Sam nodded. "I don't think anyone likes needles,"

"Fair point," Robby knew that was probably true. "How did you get over it?"

"Well, I remember when I was little, I was terrified of needles. I would always throw a fit whenever I had to get shots. I think at that point, my dad hated taking me to the doctors just as much as I hated going." She laughed slightly as she remembered. "But then, a few years ago, I started having to get pricked every day, so it got easier…"

"Why did you have to…?"

Sam took a breath and then started to explain: "A few years ago, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, so after becoming a human pincushion, by checking my blood sugar by myself every day, it got easier."

"You never told me that,"

"I don't usually broadcast it," Sam admitted. "Some people have opinions." She wasn't ashamed of it, she was just cautious about telling people, having experienced people being rude about it before. "I just don't like people trying to tell me what I should be doing."

Robby could understand that. "So why are you telling me?"

"Because I trust you," Sam answered, honestly. "And it's a good distraction,"

Robby smiled, slightly.

"And now you know why I have to get regular blood tests," Sam added. Not a lot of people understood that. Unless you knew, it was hard to understand.

The nurse came in a moment later. "Hello Samantha," She smiled and then looked over to Robby. "This must be Robby,"

"You've talked about me?" Robby looked over at Sam, unable to hide another smile.

"Maybe a little," Sam blushed.

"Alright, are we ready?" The nurse asked as she came over with what she needed.

"Can you not tell me when you're doing it?" Robby asked quickly as he shut his eyes tightly.

"He's a bit nervous," Sam chimed in, despite it being obvious.

"That I can do," The nurse tied a band around Robby's free arm to find the vein and he tensed up, knowing it was coming.

"So…" Robby desperately tried to think of something to get Sam to continue talking to him. "Does Anthony have it too?"

"No, just me," Sam answered, knowing what Robby meant, as she grabbed Robby's free hand. "Which is so weird…." Considering what Anthony's diet consisted of. "But they do make sure he gets tested every year." After her diagnosis, her parents were a little overprotective and wanted to stay on top of it with getting Anthony tested regularly.

"Did she do it yet?" Robby asked after feeling the cold alcohol wipe on his arm.

"I thought you didn't want to know,"

"I don't," Robby still knew it was coming. "I just…" Robby felt his nerves rising. "Maybe I shouldn't do this…"

"You're okay, I'm right here," Sam reassured. "I won't let anything bad happen. Let's just keep talking…" Sam quickly tried to think of something to say as she noticed the nurse grabbing the needle and the vials.

"I think you have to say something for me to keep talking," Robby could only think about what was coming.

Sam leaned over and started to kiss Robby as the nurse put the needle in and started filling the vials with blood. Sam felt Robby's body relax into the kiss and she didn't pull away until she noticed the nurse tape a cotton ball over the puncture site.

"There wasn't much I could say…" Sam smiled slightly as Robby opened his eyes.

"You certainly know how to make a guy shut up," Robby smiled.

"Okay Robby, you're all set."

Robby looked over, unable to believe it was done. "I didn't even feel it…"

"Can you believe it? You survived…"

Robby rolled his eyes and then sat up, unable to take his eyes off Sam for a moment. "Thank you," That was the only thing he could think of to say. You idiot! She kisses you and say thank you?!

"Glad I could help,"

"Alright Samantha, are you ready?"

"Always," Sam took Robby's place on the table and laid down, giving her arm over to the nurse and shutting her eyes. Robby waited a moment and then went over to her side and then placed a kiss on her lips.

"I had to return the favor," Robby pulled away slowly and spoke up when the nurse finished.

Sam smiled back as she sat up.

"I'm going to advise you both to sit here for at least fifteen minutes," The nurse brought them both a snack and a small cup of juice.

Robby took a seat next to Sam and they both slowly drank the juice. After Sam finished hers, she turned to Robby, feeling ready to leave. "You ready to go?" Sam was sure that Robby would want to get out of here.

"One thing first," Robby trailed off.

"What—" Sam was cut off by Robby taking the chance to kiss her again. As he did, Sam put her hand on the back of his head, running her fingers through his hair, and Robby put his hand on her cheek. He didn't let go for several minutes.

"Just in case it doesn't happen again," Robby wasn't going to miss out if this was his only chance to do what's been wanting to do since they first met.

"I think it will," Sam put her forehead against Robby's. She has been wanting this all summer long and now there was no going back.

A/N: I don't actually ship Sam and Robby together anymore, and I originally wanted to write something similar to this with Robby/Tory, but every time I kept thinking over this plot bunny, it only made sense if it was with Sam/Robby. This was inspired after watching interviews with Tanner and he mentioned he has a fear of needles and then watching a video on Mary's YouTube channel where she talked about her diagnosis of having T1 Diabetes.
