Prologue
There are infinite possibilities. Millions of timelines spiralling out of a single moment.
In one world, Gabriel and Emilie Agreste found the peacock and butterfly miraculouses in the ruins of the Guardian temple and set into motion events that would lead to both catastrophes and miracles… introducing Paris to primordial magic of the kwamis and the heroes led by Ladybug and Chat Noir. Parallel to these events, in other parts of the world, different heroes were born. In America, a ten year old boy acquired an alien device while on a country wide road trip with his cousin and grandfather, becoming one of the greatest heroes of the Omniverse.
In another world, fate had different plans. The Omnitrix landed in Paris and bonded to a young Marinette Dupain Cheng while the miraculouses found their way to the small town of Bellwood.
The destinies of several heroes had been crisscrossed for better or worse and this is their story.
Magic had kept them alive when the rest of their kin had perished. Magic was their strength yet in this new dimension, their magic just wasn't strong enough to establish themselves in a position of authority. Without access to the pure mana of Legerdomain, they had to resort to using runes and talismans to survive.
However, after rummaging through this world's history, Hex had found evidence of the existence of powerful objects modelled after jewelry called miraculouses housing powerful deities called kwamis… Two of them in particular, the miraculouses of creation and destruction, the ladybug earrings and the ring of the black cat, which would enable the wielder to reshape reality to his bidding - Powers that easily surpass the Alpha Rune!
If this worked, he would be able to fix everything with a snap of his finger. Bring his family back, defeat Adwaita and give his niece the life she deserved, instead of being an accomplice to his necessary evil.
So he tracked the miraculouses to their last known location to the ruins of an ancient temple in Tibet, where he found a grimoire along with two miraculouses - the peacock and the butterfly, not the two he hoped to find but powerful nonetheless.
After forcing the kwamis to answer his questions and translating the grimoire, he came to the conclusion that the ladybug and cat miraculouses along with others stored in the primary miracle box were in the custody of the last guardian, who had survived the fall of the temple. No doubt such an individual would have a strong magical signature and magic always leaves a mark, especially magic stemming from something as powerful as the miraculouses… He would hunt down the Guardian, acquire the earrings and the ring and make his wish for a perfect life…
Kevin felt trapped.
His stepfather towered over him, swinging his beer bottle like a baseball bat while his mother lay barely conscious at the other corner of the room and his sister peeked through the curtains from her hiding spot, shaking with fear and apprehension…
Six years ago, his mother married Larry. Five years ago, his sister was born. A year ago, Larry lost his job and his mom became the sole earning member of the family, supporting the household through her job as a hairdresser. Six months ago, Larry started to drink and changed… Initially it was just arguments asking for more money from his mom… then it turned to beating. And eventually he didn't spare Kevin too, when he came in between to stop him.
"He's just eleven, Larry! Please!" His mom yelled, trying to get up as he swung the bottle.
Kevin closed his eyes and shielded his face.
There was a clang. Shattering of glass. Yet he didn't feel any impact on his arms…
He opened his eyes.
He saw his arms coated in black glass. He looked up to see the same confusion reflected in Larry's eyes, but not for long.
"Freak!" He roared, dropping the bottle and body slamming him against the wall.
Kevin felt his teeth clatter as he struggled to breathe despite the pain. His face hit the floor as Larry kicked him.
"Kevin!" His mom screamed.
Kevin gasped as Larry turned away from him and headed towards his mom. No…
He tightened his fists. Then he felt it… the cement of the floor slowly starting to coat his entire body… He didn't know what was happening, only that he felt his pain disappear and for a moment, felt strong despite the circumstances.
"Hey Larry!" He yelled, pulling himself up and running at his attacker. "Stay away from my mom!"
Without giving him a chance to react, Kevin kicked his legs and as Larry fell, Kevin jumped on top of him, pummeling the man with his fists repeatedly until he heard his sister scream…
He looked down to see his fists covered in blood.
He stepped away from Larry terrified. Larry was barely breathing. His face was a disfigured mess, swollen and bloody…
He looked at his mom, who was looking at him warily… the same look they reserved for Larry's episodes.
Kevin gulped.
He ran and kept on running till he was far away from his home… till he couldn't tell where he was. Lost in the crowds of New York, he let himself weep.
There was no going back now.
